We were off this morning to town to have Breakfast.  Another stop at the Country Café to have my favorite meal.  Unfortunately this morning they brought me the wrong omelette, but I ate it anyway.  I ordered a Western and they brought me a Spinach and Feta Cheese.  Even though it was the wrong one, I ate it anyway.  It wasn’t really that bad but it isn’t something I would have ordered.
After we left the restaurant we stopped by Walgreen’s and had a problem with a prescription we had left there 2 days ago.  It was only a script for Vitamin D3 but it’s cheaper with our prescription rider than it is over the counter.  So it took us about 10 minutes to get it straightened out and get the prescription.
From Walgreen’s we stopped at Publix for a little grocery shopping before we headed back home.  We needed to pick up something that we could cook without LP gas or on the grill.  We ran out a couple of days ago and we’re waiting for a delivery tomorrow sometime.  We picked up our groceries and headed home.
As it turns out we didn’t need anything to cook for today.  After Breakfast we never eat lunch and then we decided to go out for Dinner tonight instead.  We both settled on Chilli’s and we left home about 5 tonight and headed to town.  I wanted to try the Baby Back Ribs and Sharon decided on a Steak.  We also had the Onion Rings as an appetizer and they were outstanding.  We also had a Salted Caramel Volcano Cake that we shared for Dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious.
After we got home we settled in front of the TV for a night of DVR watching.  We found that the regular programming was still re-runs so it really didn’t matter what we watched.  We had a couple of shows from the History channel that we caught up on tonight.
We definitely had enough to carry us through to our regular bedtime tonight.  We still have tons of stuff to watch to get us all caught up.  We usually add the last show of the night to the DVR every night.  So we even have stuff to watch in the daytime.

We got up this morning with the hope that the propane guy would show up today.  We would be waiting for most of the day for him and still wanting to go into Arcadia to mail my Brother’s pills to him back in Maryland.
Sharon went for her walk early today and I just waited for her to return, and for the propane guy.
We breezed through lunch with no propane and also half the afternoon.  By the time he got here around three o’clock he explained why he wasn’t here this morning like he usually is.  With the weather being as cold as it was, the area that he usually does on Friday afternoons he had to finish up this morning.  So as far as I was concerned, he was forgiven.
After the gas fill we left for town and the Post Office to mail out mt Brother’s pills.  Unfortunately we forgot to bring the mailing address. (Actually Sharon realized that her address book was not in her purse) So back home again to retrieve the address so we could get the pills in the mail.
On our return trip we stopped at the hardware store to pick up a couple of things.  We needed some rollers for the bottom of our clothes hamper and glue for our rear bedroom window gasket.  We got the glue but they didn’t have the type of rollers that I wanted for the hamper.
We had Kielbasa and Macaroni and Cheese for Supper tonight.  It’s one of the meals I really enjoy.  It feels like picnic food except you eat it indoors.  Sharon fries up the Kielbasa so it’s crispy on the edges.  It is very good indeed.
After Supper we checked into the TV watching room for our evenings entertainment. Fortunately our TV room is only about a foot and a half from our Dining Room.  We even managed to catch up on some DVR material tonight and I didn’t stay up past my bedtime in doing it either.

Sharon was off on her walk as soon as she got up this morning.  I was watching news when she left and I was still watching when she got back.  After she got back she announced that she was going to wash the car today.  That meant if I wasn’t going to help her, I better get busy on something else.  I usually procrastinate till there are no more options so it shouldn’t be difficult finding something to fix.
After Breakfast she got busy on her project of the day.  I’ve been meaning to fix the seal on our bedroom window since this summer.  We had picked up some rubber cement the other day at the hardware store.  It was a rubber gasket that lined the window that needed to be attached to the frame of the window.  Not a complicated fix but more of a pain in the a__.  The other fix I took on today was attaching a chain guard to the bathroom door, to hold it in a certain position, to provide privacy to the rest of the coach.
It took Sharon quite a while to finish up the car and she did a spectacular job.  We both finished our jobs about the same time and she was thrilled I finally got to the window and the bathroom door.  Now I don’t have any projects waiting for me and I’ll have to help with the car next time.
We finished up in the afternoon about the time when Sharon starts to cook Supper.  She didn’t have any suggestions for Dinner and I mentioned a trip to Sonic for a burger.  So we went to Sonic tonight for Supper.  It was quite comical when we were confronted with the menu.  Sonic is one of the diners that we had never been to before.  So we sat in front of the menu board for about 10 minutes before we finally decided what we wanted.  We managed to settle on a couple of simple Sonic Cheeseburgers and Fries.  We also had a couple of cokes and a couple of free Shakes.  But at $17 I don’t know if anything was free.  Oh well, we added Sonic to the places we have eaten at.  Incidentally the Cheeseburger was very good indeed.  And the Shake I had was loaded with chunks of strawberries at the bottom.
Even though it was Card Bingo night we came back home and settled in front of the idiot box for the night.  We were content with our regular programs tonight, and even a couple that were on the DVR.
The night goes by quite quickly when you only have your favorite shows to watch.  Not that I want the nights to go by quickly, but I prefer to be entertained with my favorites.  As usual I hit the hay at my regular time again tonight.  Sharon took her pill and followed shortly afterward.

We were up late this morning and Sharon went for her walk at 10 o’clock.  She got back and made me promise to never let her sleep until 10 again.  It was way too hot and muggy for anybody to be walking then.
We were trying a new experiment today.  Eat Breakfast and then not eat again until Supper.  I’m not all that confident that this is going to work but Sharon wants us to drop a little weight.  Somehow I think we’ll be snacking about mid-afternoon which will defeat the whole process.
It got hot and humid here today and we had the air on early.
Early this afternoon we made a trip in to the Produce place to pick up some vegetables for later use.  The place was very busy and I think that most people in Arcadia probably shop here for their veggies.  I haven’t seen anyplace other than here where people gather to shop for their vegetables.
We saw people riding around on personal conveyances, to and from, the veggie stand but it started raining while we were there.  And after a couple of minutes it was raining cats and dogs.  Sharon came running out and jumped in the car and asked me if I started this.  On the way home we were looking for all the people on their scooters.  We never saw a single one so they must have found shelter somewhere along the way.
When we got home Sharon started making our Supper.  It was going to be Chicken Kiev, Potato Pancakes and Corn on the Cob.  The Corn was a nice touch since we don’t usually have it in the Winter.  The Chicken and Pancakes were a nice combination.
After Dinner we settled into our private theater for the night.  We had several programs to pick from since were gaining shows every night that we don’t have time to watch.  I stayed up after my regular bedtime tonight to watch Chicago Fire.  And I assume we’ll both sleep late tomorrow since Sharon stayed up also.

We did get up late today but Sharon went for her walk again early. It was a little overcast and a lot windy this morning.  She was gone for about a half hour and when she got back I told her I wasn’t feeling well.
I could actually feel a cold coming on.  I had all the usual elements, runny nose, sore throat and chest congestion.  It looked like it was going to get a lot worse before it gets better.  I managed to find some cold medicine in the medicine cabinet, but that stuff doesn’t usually work on the common cold.  It’ll sometimes help with a stuffy nose, but for the most part, no real help at all.
We got an email today from Terry and Diana Brown, originally from Lower  Michigan, but now living in Florida.  We exchanged emails before we left home and promised to get together while we’re her.  They mentioned a Woodworking show in Punta Gorda tomorrow afternoon.  After a couple of messages we decided that we would meet at the Convention Center tomorrow at noon.  It’s only about 35 miles from here which is about what they’ll have to drive also.
By mid-afternoon I wasn’t getting any better, in fact I was getting worse.  I went to bed early tonight at 9 but I only slept to 1:30.  I got up and Sharon was already up and doing a puzzle.  I never know when she’s going to be up and reading or puzzling .  I asked her if she’d send the Browns a note to tell them we wouldn’t be meeting them tomorrow and I’ll call in the morning.
I went back to bed to see if I could sleep and I managed catch another set of zzz’s til around 5:30.  When I finally got up I felt like I had been run over by a truck.

When Sharon got up this morning she was now experiencing cold symptoms.  She started taking the OTC medications.
I was right about not being able to meet Terry and Diana at the Convention Center in Punta Gorda.  By the time I was up for an hour I felt absolutely miserable and Sharon wasn’t feeling too chipper either.
We spent most of the day taking medication and jut trying to rest.
Sharon took off for church this afternoon and asked me if I wanted her to stop at KFC for Supper on her way home.  I told her yes but KFC here is closed, so she stopped at McD’s .Instead
In my estimation McD’s can always be substituted for any other food.
She got back from church and had a load of Mcd’s in a bag.
We ate our Dinner and watched a little TV.
I was in bed early again tonight.

Sunday, January 14, 2018

I thought when I got up this morning the worst of my cold would be over with.  I was wrong, but at least it seemed it was getting better.  But I think I still have a few more days to suffer this damn thing.
I didn’t feel like eating anything for most of the day today.  But the last time I ate anything was Friday at Supper time.  So when Sharon offered me a BLT for lunch today I jumped at it.
The last 4-5 days have been no fun for us.  We’ve pretty much stayed close to home since we don’t have anything we would enjoy doing.  And late today since Sharon is now displaying symptoms it my be even longer to get us back on track.
I don’t mind sitting around and watching TV but Sharon gets “cabin fever” if she sits around too much.
By Suppertime I was back in bed for awhile. In fact I just came out of the bedroom when the Vikings pulled off that spectacular play to win at the end of the game.
My Journal will probably be posted late today because of how I feel today.
