We were off this morning to go to either Golden Corral or Waffle House for Breakfast.  Two of my favorite “down south” places to eat for the first meal of the day.  We can’t always find a Golden Corral but there always seems to be a Waffle House in the neighborhood.  As luck would have it, both restaurants were located almost next to each other here.
Sharon mentioned Waffle House this morning so we drove right past the Golden Corral for the time being.  We’re coming back here for a couple of days right after we spend Christmas at Holiday, Florida.
One of the aspects of Waffle House that we’ve always been amazed by was the way they call out the orders and nobody seems to be writing anything down.  It’s mostly all in the way they put the jelly on the plate that determines the food and how it’s cooked.  It’s an amazing system to say the least.  The cook told Sharon that now that she knows the system he’d have to kill her.  They were both smiling at the time so I think she’s okay.
On the way home we stopped at Golden Corral to see if they were running their buffet during the week.  From what Sharon could gather, they’re running it but it’s partially Breakfast and partly Lunch.  They seemed to have all the things we regularly eat on the buffet, however.  We probably won’t stop this week but perhaps when we come back again.
We stopped at the office to mail a letter and to find out the monthly rate here.  We found out that we could use our Coast to Coast membership to reduce our cost for a stay.  We could use 4 weeks of Coast to Coast along with a month at the regular rate, for a two month stay.  A substantial savings since they only charge $10 a night at the Coast to Coast rate.
We came back home and discussed what a great deal this would be for us to consider in the future.  It must have been a heavy discussion because we both took a nap afterwards.
We skipped lunch which was not too surprising and the next thing we knew it was suppertime.  Sharon whipped up Kielbasa and Macaroni and Cheese for our Dinner tonight.  It slid down the old gullet very nicely.
After Dinner we just wanted to sit and relax and watch TV.  Unfortunately there was nothing good to be had from the networks.  So we watched a movie from the DVR called Bite the Bullet.  It was a Gene Hackman, James Coburn western about a cross country horse race.  It was pretty good and it took us right up to bedtime.  By the end of the movie we were ready to fold up our tents.

We were both up early this morning.  Sharon was off on her walk and I got busy taking the old satellite dome apart.  It still had water inside it that needed to be drained.
I got it apart without much trouble but then it had to be dried out for shipping.  It took a while to get the water completely out and then sit it in the Sun to dry.
I’ve decided that I’ll wait until tomorrow to dump the holding tanks and then I’ll dump again at the end of next week before we come back here again.
By this afternoon the weather was mildly hot and muggy.  It was the first day for air conditioning for us, but I’m sure it will only be the first of many.
For most of the afternoon we just sat inside and listened to 3 hrs. of Rush on radio, not being used to the heat and humidity as of yet.
For Supper tonight we had Pork Roast Sandwiches and Fried Potatoes.  They were quite sumptuous indeed.  It was leftover Pork but adding gravy to it made it another delicious meal.
We were in for a Marathon of “The Curse of Oak Island” tonight since this was the first Tuesday since we left home that we could receive the History Channel.  We started at 6 PM and got in at least 4 hrs before we changed to something else.  We got all caught up on the Treasure search and there’s still nothing substantial except little bits
of clues.  We keep expecting for something drastic to happen but it never seems to.  We’re interested because Rick Lagina lives about a half mile down the road from us.  We don’t know him personally, but he lives next door to Sharon’s brother Dennis.
We went to bed tonight about 11 after the Marathon to catch up on “Curse”.  We have to get up tomorrow to go to Breakfast at the Mineola Grill.

Wednesday, December 20, 2017

We were up relatively early this morning and on our way to the Mineola Grill just down the road from us.  We drove by it the other day on our way to the Waffle House.  We had a little trouble finding it this morning cause it’s hidden from the road somewhat.  We managed to find it but unfortunately it was closed today.  We were disappointed but McD’s was only a couple of blocks away.  After eating Breakfast we headed home to do some chores to button-up the motorhome to get on the road tomorrow.
Sharon took off with the laundry to get that caught up and was gone for only a couple of hours today.  Compared to last week she was back in a flash.  But by the time she got home she was in a tizzy.  There was no air conditioning in the laundry room and it was hot and muggy out.  It didn’t help that she went for a walk as soon as she dropped the clothes off.  So by the time she got back home she was frazzled.
She got back home right after noon and sat in the air conditioning folding clothes. She was in a much better mood after spending some time in the cool air.  I think were both going to be frazzled for the next month or so with the heat and humidity.
After it started cooling off outside I went out to dump the holding tanks, and fill the water.  I disconnected all of our hoses except the electric while Sharon helped put away our chairs and tables.  With everything taken care of we retreated from the heat again to the inside.
Sharon made us Philly Steak Sandwiches and leftover Fried Potatoes for Supper tonight.  The sandwiches were very good but Sharon only ate half of hers.  She said she was going to save it for a lunch someday.
We camped out in front of the TV for the rest of the night.  We watched mostly repeats but found some other stuff on the cable channels.  We were up until our entertainment ran out and then we headed for the bed.

We were back on the road again this morning headed toward Holiday Travel Park in Holiday, Florida.  It’s about 85 miles from where we are and we’ll have to come back here after we leave there.  Holiday is where Sharon’s sister lives full time.  They have a park model situated on the side of a pond.
On the way over, we called Sandie, to see if the park sold LP Gas.  It does, so we won’t have to look for it on the way.  They were at the hospital when we called, and apparently Charlie was having some problems this morning.
Almost as soon as we arrived, Charlie and Sandie came back and drove into the campground.  We said our hellos and then went and got our LP Gas.  It took some finagling to get into the tank but after a few minutes I squeezed right in there.
After getting gas we got quickly settled into our site and hooked up to electric.  It was hot enough to have the air conditioning running today.
We left the campground to do some grocery shopping just around the corner at Winn-Dixie.  I rode the electric cart and “helped” Sharon do the shopping.
We sat around just watching TV for the afternoon in air conditioned comfort.
We had Tacos for Supper tonight, and before we finished, Sandie was at the door for a visit.  Charlie came over shortly afterward and we sat and talked for a couple of hours before they left and we settled in to watch some TV.
We had our usual programs automatically recording on the DVR so all we had to do was play them while we watched.  In fact it takes far less time to watch them on tape because you can cut out all the commercials. So we ent to bed tonight at our regular time about 10:30.

As soon as we got up this morning Sharon was off on a walk.  I guess she was wanting to do it before it started getting hot outside.  She walked all over the park this morning and it took her about 45 minutes.  She came back all frazzled.  But she did come back with a plan.  We would be going to the American Legion for lunch today.
The Legion Post 173 was only about 4 blocks from the campground.  We left to go over there just after noon.  It wasn’t very busy at that time.  The bar was full but the dining room was empty until after we arrived.  We ordered and all got Patty Melts and Fries and they were delicious.  We had a couple of pitchers of beer also that slid down nicely.
After we left, we came home and napped.  We were going to the clubhouse tonight to play Bingo and we needed to be well rested to stay awake all the way through.
And it’s a good thing we got our nap in.  We won $80 tonight on 3 different games.  I won $50 and Sharon won $30.  All the people that were there can’t wait for us to leave next week.  I don’t think I’ll be going next week.  I was so sore from sitting in those folding chairs that I might just skip the whole thing next week.
We got back home about 9 just in time to watch Blue Bloods before heading to bed.  Blue Bloods was on at 10 so we stayed up a bit late tonight.  Sharon caved before I did but only by a few minutes.

Sharon was up and off this morning on her walk.  She stopped by Sandie’s and pounded on the door to no response.  Sandie wanted to go with her this morning but Sharon couldn’t find her.  She didn’t find out until she got home that Sandie slept through the whole deal.  Sharon walked by herself, just like she always does.  She was back in about an hour or so.
After a shower and a quick change of clothes she was off to the grocery store to pick up stuff for Christmas Dinner at Charlie and Sandie’s on Monday.  I got busy hooking up our utilities and filling the water tank.  We were using the water tank for the last couple of days so it needed filling.  It took about 15 minutes to fill because we used it for an extra day this time.
For the rest of the afternoon we just sat around and watched a little TV.  We have been invited over to Charlie and Sandie’s for Dinner tonight, and She plans to make a Chicken Enchilada Casserole.  We went over to their place about 5 and sat around and chatted for awhile before sitting down to Dinner.  The Casserole she made was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed it very much.  We sat around and talked after Dinner for about an hour or so, but we wanted to get home by 7 cause the Packers were playing tonight.
We did make it home by 7, unfortunately the Packers failed to show up for the game.  With tons of injuries on the defense they stepped up and showed a really decent effort on the night.  The offense however wasn’t in the same stadium with the Vikings.  I don’t see the attraction to Brett Hundley.  He’s no better now than when he took over for Rodgers.  Every long pass he threw was overthrown by 3-4 yards.  He’d run out of the pocket only as an excuse to throw the ball away at the sidelines.  On a couple of 4th downs and short yardage calls, he chose to throw the ball long instead of just getting the 1st down.  Now that he’s dragged the team to the basement he needs to be the next to go.  As plain as the nose on my face I wasn’t particularly pleased with his performance over the last 8 weeks.
We started getting ready for bed even before the game was over.  You could plainly see that Hundley was going to blow every chance the team had to catch up or even win.  The Vikings only had 13 points until late in the 4th quarter and the Packers had the ball at least twice where they could have scored.  I lost interest before the end of the game and just plain went to bed.

We were up late this morning but Sharon was off to church as soon as she got ready.  I was off to my Sunday morning shows on TV.  The only thing earthshaking that happened this week was the Tax Bill.  But along with that was the revoking of the Obamacare Mandate and opening up ANWR for the drilling of oil.  They’ve been “talking” about opening ANWR for years but Trump finally did it.  Maybe we’ll finally become oil dominant, instead of oil dependent.
While we were on the way over here last week we discovered that the running lights on the car were not working.  So as soon as Sharon got back from church we got busy looking for the problem.  After testing the fuses and all the wiring I finally concluded that the problem was either a bad ground or a bad connection.  We won’t know until we pull the motorhome out and plug them together, and hope they’re working.
For the rest of the afternoon we watched football and movies just to get us through the day.
We had picnic food for supper tonight.  Sharon hadn’t cooked and didn’t feel like it so we had hot dogs and chips and pickles for our entree’ tonight.  It was a nice change of pace.
Sharon was off to the clubhouse tonight for a program put on by the residents.  I decided not to go so she went with Sandie.  Charlie opted not to attend also.
The “short ½ hour program turned into an hour and a half and by the time Sharon got home, the golf cart ride that was planned, was not going to happen.  We thought we’d go around the park just to see the lights.
We just settled in our chairs for the night and watched a couple of shows that were mostly repeats.  We were in bed by 10:30 and happy to be there.
