We had a few things to do today.  Since we’re leaving tomorrow morning Sharon decided to catch up on the laundry.
The satellite guy showed up right at 8 this morning and brought a helper with him.  It took him about 45 minutes or so to get the new Dome mounted.  It was working fine by the time they left.
Sharon and I spent our last hurrah at the Arley Coffee Shop having Breakfast this morning.  We both had pancakes this morning and they were quite good, but filling.  They were big and fluffy.  But a nice finishing meal.
We got home and Sharon took off with the laundry and I got busy dumping the holding tanks.  After I got done with the tanks I charged up the spinbrush and got about washing the windshield.  The spinbrush was a Christmas gift I hope to use quite often.
We had everything done by this afternoon, and we just sat down to relax.
Sharon whipped up a load of Chilli for Supper tonight.  She also made us some Potato Salad to go with it.  It was all quite good.
We sat and watched TV for the rest of the night.  We were getting satellite TV tonight so we had our pick of channels.  We were up until 11 tonight before we finally gave it up for the night.

We were “up and at em” and on the road this morning by 9, heading south.  We had to leave through Arley since that was the shortest way back to the Interstate.
This was going to be a complete driving day today since we eventually had to go 330 miles to get to our next “destination.”
The last time we went out this way, 4 years ago, we got hopelessly lost in Jasper, and had to stop for directions.  This time we paid attention to the GPS and slid right through.  And when we finally got through, we realized why we got lost the first time.  In order to get through it requires you to go down several narrow back streets and several turns.  There was no way to ad-lib your way through.  I couldn’t believe the convoluted route it required.
For the rest of the day it was smooth sailing through Birmingham and Montgomery.
Our final destination today turned out to be the Wal-Mart in Marianna, Florida.  We had a campground we could have gone to today but we chose to just end the day at this Wal-Mart just off the Interstate.
We didn’t have anything planned for Supper tonight so Sharon ran in to Wal-Mart and picked up some Corn Dogs for me and a Sub Sandwich for herself.
The trees blocked out our TV reception tonight so we were back watching digital TV again.  We really didn’t have options of where to park tonight so the place we picked blocked out the satellite.  It didn’t really matter since we received our regular shows anyway.

We were expecting a noisy night last night but it was a very quiet night.  It was very noisy early in the evening and we expected it to continue, but it never did.
We were on the road by 9:30 or so this morning.  We woke up late this morning so we had some driving to get to our scheduled campground tonight.  We would be driving another 300 or so miles today to Clermont and Bee’s RV Resort.  We also stayed here 4 years ago when we came down to Florida for 3 weeks or so.  The only place we know that only charges the customary Coast to Coast $10 a nite rate without a surcharge.
We were on all Interstate today so the trip down was quick as could be.  As we exited today we found a Truck Wash that was convenient.  It may have been convenient but it wasn’t cheap.  We paid $60 for a wash that we can get in California for $36.  And that was with a 36' motorhome.  I hope this isn’t a preview for the entire Winter.  If it is, we’ll be glad to get back to Alabama.
After pulling up to our site in Bee’s Resort I was unhappy because of the number of trees.  I didn’t think that the satellite would be found and we were going to be here for 8 days.  As it turned out the satellite came in fine and I was very happy.  We have the DVR back again.
We watched our regular shows an hour later tonight because of the change of time from Central to Eastern.  So that means we’ll be going to bed an hour later for awhile.  At least for the next month or so.

We slept late this morning partly because of the change in time but mostly because we needed it.  I still wasn’t feeling all that great and Sharon generally stays in bed later anyway.
Because we came in late last night (after 5), the office was closed and Sharon took off to get us registered.
I got busy on the journal since I had two days to write this morning.  Sometimes it’s hard to write for multiple days if there are several thing we’ve done and it’s difficult to remember all the details.  But we didn’t do much except drive over the last couple of days so it wasn’t that much to remember.
We called some friends today to check on their situation over the next few months.  The first was Corky and Deb Zimmermann, from near home, who we thought we would be seeing down south here this year.  Corky is a retired Battalion Chief from West Bend, Wisconsin.  We found out just before we left this year that Deb is having some medical problems and they’re still trying to diagnose the situation.  So they’re still undetermined as to whether they’ll be traveling or not.
The second was Bill and Carole Lawson, a retired State Trooper from Massachusetts, who we discovered were still at home.  They’ll still be coming down but Bill is recovering from recent knee surgery.  Luckily they’ll be staying not far from us when we move to Arcadia in January.
It was nice to have the DVR back so we could watch our shows when we wanted to watch them.  It’s going to take some adjusting, however, to watch our regular 9 o’clock shows the next day.
I was only up until 10:30 tonight before I caved like a cheap circus tent.  When you’re falling asleep in your chair it’s time to give it up for the night.  Sharon stayed up her usual 30 minutes.

We had kind of a busy day in store for us this morning.  We had more than a couple of phone calls to make.  The first and foremost was a call to the installer of our satellite dome on the motorhome.  I spoke with them this morning about a re-imbursement for the cost of our first satellite dome.  Our first contact went very well I thought but we’ll see what happens in the future.
The second call I made was to DirecTV to see if I could get credit for the time our dish was down.  They weren’t buying was I was trying to sell so that call fell on deaf ears.  Sharon was also supposed to call the Good Sam Mail Service to start our mail but she forgot about it.
After Breakfast we took off on a ride around the area just to check on the restaurants near us.  We found a bunch of them including Waffle House, Golden Corral, Outback, Applebee’s, McD’s and a few others.  We weren’t looking for a place to eat today, however, since we would be going to the campground diner tonight for a fish fry.
We managed to find some shopping on our little jaunt today also.  A couple of big malls and some stand-alone stores such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.
We had to make a short stop at McD’s for a snack to hold us over until Dinner tonight.  I had a Cheeseburger and Fries and Sharon had a Hot Fudge Sundae.
We got back home early in the afternoon and just sat around and relaxed until it was time for Dinner.  The Diner was only about 100 yards from our campsite so we walked over there.
The Fish Fry consisted of Fish, French Fries, Cole Slaw, Roll, Corn and Apple Fritters and Chunky Apple Sauce.  It was all-you-can-eat and very good.  Neither of us went back for seconds cause the first serving was enough for both of us.  After Dinner we walked home and camped out in front of the TV. We even had shows that recorded last night that we hadn’t seen yet today.  We watched a couple of them before we got into our regular Friday night schedule.
After we got done with our TV tonight, we both went to bed.  Sharon a few minutes after me after she took her pill.  She seems to be able to go to sleep better if she waits for a while.  In any event I’m usually zzzzing by the time she gets there.

We had a plan today, or I should say Sharon had a plan today to take in a rummage sale or two.
After Breakfast we were off in the car with the GPS leading the way to find a “warehouse” sale.  It was actually one small store in a strip mall.  It was filled with books and DVDs.  It took us about 42 seconds to figure out this wasn’t much of a warehouse.
On the way home we stopped at the White House Hall of Fame that was located next to the Citrus Tower.  We had a hell of a time finding our way into the driveway.  We must have driven around the place for 10 minutes before we finally found a driveway to get in.  It was mostly a souvenir shop of Presidential and even non-Presidential items.  We perused the gift shop for a while before we found out it was $15 apiece to get into the Hall of Fame.
We checked the time on the way home and found out we were still  able to catch the Ice Cream Social at the campground.  We got 3 scoops of Ice Cream, ½ banana, and all the toppings a person could want for $2.  I’m not much of an ice cream person
but that was quite the deal.  Our Banana Splits took the place of lunch today, and did a fine job of doing it.
We had a PorK Roast that was leftover for Supper tonight.  Along with some Mashed Potatoes, Peas and Creamed Corn it was a very nice Dinner indeed.  We even had a couple of Salted Caramel mini-donuts for Dessert.
For the rest of the night we “gathered” around the TV and watched crap for programming.  Saturday has always stunk up a storm when it comes to programming.  The fact that the networks are showing repeats for the rest of the week because it’s the Christmas Season.  So we not only get all repeats during the week but the usual crap on the weekends.
Sharon was set to go to bed with me tonight when I reminded her of the 30 minute rule.  So she stayed up her usual 30 minutes and of course I was sleeping by the time she got there.

Sunday, December 17, 2017

Sharon was off to church this morning right on schedule and I was off to my Sunday morning political shows.  I could only get two of them this morning apparently because of the time change to Eastern.  I did manage to get two of them though, Fox News Sunday and This week with George Stephanopolis.  Nothing earthshaking was happening on either show, however.
After church, Sharon had been outdoing some grocery shopping for next week.  She got back just before one o’clock and I told her that Fox was going to show the Packer game at 1.  They were advertising it all morning on the channel but the game that was listed was the Eagles and Giants.  Unfortunately when 1 o’clock rolled around it was the Eagles and Giants that were being televised.  I really wasn’t surprised because of the miserable season that Green Bay is having.  But anyway someone has to be on TV.  Besides the Packers lost again today with Aaron Rodgers back in the saddle.  I think their playoff hopes have finally been throttled.
We both took a well deserved nap today after the Giants game.  It was so quiet and peaceful we just slipped from consciousness.
We had Chilli for Supper tonight.  It was leftover and we had to eat the cornbread muffins before they turned bad.  We had more than enough to satisfy our Supper needs and still had enough to freeze for another day.  Sharon always makes enough for the 4th army when she makes it.
We had regular programming on tonight starting with 60 minutes.  The rest of the shows were repeats but at least they were regular programming.
We stayed up until 11 tonight and still didn’t get all our shows watched.  We’ll pick up tomorrow where we left off tonight.  It was time for the padded room.
