DAY ONE AGAIN
Saturday, November 25, 2017
We were off this morning after having finished packing the motorhome with all the freezable items that had to be removed from the house. It was not as mice this morning as it was yesterday.
We had a couple of stops make today including LP Gas and fuel for the coach. We were on the road by 10 without incident except for forgetting my glasses on the counter at home. We turned around and came back for them when I realized that I had left them. Come Monday morning I also realized that I had forgotten all my medications except my Insulin.
We stopped for Breakfast at Barley’s Restaurant just north of Abrams, Wisconsin and Sharon noticed a little bakery next door that sells Kringle. Needless to say we had to try it to see if it compares to O & H in Racine.
We arrived at my Son Sean’s in West Bend, WI about 3:30 but they were gone to Kaitlyn’s Volleyball practice. Sean had the electric cord stretched out in the yard so we hooked up the coach, and made ourselves comfortable, for about an hour until they got home.
We had our usual KFC Dinner tonight and Sean worked on my computer as we sat and talked for the night. I reset my computer last week and it was a mess to say the least. By the time we went back out in the coach for the night, he had the major stuff up and running again. I was eternally grateful. We had a very quiet night with very little traffic to keep us awake. We were actually quite exhausted to say the least.

We were on the road early this morning heading to my sister’s Nursing Home in Burlington, Wisconsin. We always like to stop and see her on the way south and then back north again. The visit is always short, but at least we see her every year.
After we left we drove for the rest of the day until we arrived at Wenona, Illinois. We’ve been stopping here for years since we first found it. It’s a gas station with about 5 RV spots with full hookups. We never use the hook-ups except for the electric. We got here about 3 and with plenty of time to set up the satellite. Our satellite receiver is not working so we had to set up the digital antenna for the night. Fortunately, one of the digital channels was playing the Packer game tonight. Unfortunately, the game was another disappointment, with a loss at the last minute.
I hit the hay right after the game ended, but Sharon stayed up for awhile. I was sawing logs by the time she got there. We had another quiet night tonight with not much traffic all night. It has been noisy here on occasion but tonight was quiet.

We were up and on the road leisurely this morning after having a Breakfast from Burger King, next door. We would be driving to our destination in Paducah, Kentucky today before we stop for the night.
We mostly just got on the road and I drove for the first couple of hours before I got tired. Sharon took over til we got to the Border of Kentucky and I took the wheel again. The day went pretty uneventful for the most part and we settled into our campground about 3 PM. It was the Duck Creek Campground in Paducah.
We didn’t try the satellite again having resigned ourselves to wait for the new receiver. It should almost be waiting for us when we settle into our homepark in Arley, Alabama.
We didn’t get any of our normal shows tonight because of music specials on TV. We still managed to find enough to watch until 10:30.
Tuesday, November 28, 2017
We left Duck Creek Campground in Paducah this morning with the sole purpose of driving our guts out and getting to our homepark in Arley, Alabama. We actually only had 300 miles to drive to get there and we did 329 yesterday. So we’re not too worried about not getting there today.
As we pulled into Cullman, about 30 miles West of our campground, we were looking for an LP Gas dealer to top off our tank for the next two weeks. The weather should stay mild but in the event we get a cold snap, we need to have enough gas to get us through.
We stopped and filled up having remembered that we had a place about halfway to the campground that we filled up before. I didn’t remember it being so inconvenient, however, and we had to pull in at a weird angle and then back out with the car attached. We managed to get it done, however.
We arrived at our campground, Hidden Cove Resort, about 3 PM and our new DirecTV receiver was waiting for us at the gate. Hopefully we can get it hooked up and working for tonight. Well that didn’t happen the way we planned. The new box didn’t have the same connections that the old one has. We called DirecTV and argued with them for about an hour before they agreed to send out a technician. He’ll be out tomorrow afternoon.
Sharon and I actually started celebrating our arrival early tonight and after Dinner and by the time 9 rolled around it was time to call it a day.

We got up this morning hoping that our troubles with the dome for satellite reception would be taken care of today. There doesn’t seem to be anybody that can fix the problem. The technician from DirecTV would be coming this afternoon and I don’t expect him to be early
Sharon took a walk around the park this morning cause the temperature here was around 65 degrees and expecting to get warmer by this afternoon. The sun was shining and it turned out to be a beautiful day.
About 2 PM the guy from AT&T showed up and worked on the receiver box for about an hour. After a while he figured that the problem is in the Dome and they don’t work on Domes. I was hoping it wasn’t in the Dome because that’ more difficult to fix. Apparently the receiver can’t get the Dome to seek the signal from the satellite. So still no satellite TV. We’re still getting about 16 channels, and all the networks, on digital TV, however.
We don’t have to worry much about missing an of our regular shows because I think most of them are into reruns for the next few weeks anyway. And along with the Christmas shows regular TV will be non-existent.
We were up tonight until 10:30 tonight since we stayed up to catch a half hour of news before we hit the hay. It’ll be nice to catch up on the sleep I lost last night because of the over-“medicated” condition I went to sleep in.

We took our first trip into Arley today to have Breakfast and to do a little grocery shopping. We stopped at the office to pick up the pills that our daughter Jessica over-nighted to us.
The Arley Coffee Shop was still open and operating and we stopped there for Breakfast. We wondered if such a tiny town could support a restaurant. The Breakfasts were very good and after we finished we went grocery shopping and then down the road about a half mile to the dollar store. On our way back home we passed by the restaurant and the parking lot was full. Apparently they do quite the lunch business to keep them open. We were amazed at the number of people there.
When we got back home we started making arrangements to get the satellite dome taken care of. We don’t know what’s wrong with it but it won’t seek the satellite. I spoke with DNN RV in Guntersville but they couldn’t give me a definite date to take a look at it. I found a different place in Decatur and I’ll have to call them tomorrow.
For the rest of the day I worked on my website to get it up to date for this year. I managed to get the Sitebuilder loaded onto the computer and up to date for this year. I’ve had some problems loading up the sitebuilder, so I was surprised I didn’t have any problem today.
After I finished with my website I logged onto the King Satellite site and found two more RV Dealers who sell the Dome that I have installed. They’re actually closer than the one in Guntersville. I’ll call them tomorrow and see if I can get some satisfaction from them.
Sharon whipped up a Turkey Pot Pie for Supper tonight. We still had some leftover Turkey from Thanksgiving that she used. The rest of our leftovers are all gone.
We watched TV tonight until it was time for bed. We managed to stay up until 10:30 tonight by watching the 10 o’clock news until we folded up our tent.

We were both up bright and early this morning with no place to go. We hadn’t made any plans for today but to just sit around.
After doing the Journal I called the first place on my list for the satellite dish. He was booked until after January but he referred me to another place that might help us. And Lo and Behold he’ll be over Tuesday afternoon to check it out. Unfortunately the forecast says it’ll be raining like hell on Tuesday, so we’ll have to see.
I decided I would download a couple of my favorite games from Microsoft this morning, and after I did that, I got around to playing a couple of them. They were free games of course, the ones they used to give you with your windows software, but don’t anymore.
For the rest of the afternoon we watched TV and played games on our devices. Sharon even managed to squeeze in a little nap before Supper rolled around. Over the last couple of years her naps have actually becomes naps and not “sleeps”. Probably because of the teasing I’ve done over the most recent past. I was doing 20 minute naps and she was doing 3 hour sleeps.
All that aside she put Lasagna, Garlic Bread and Salad on the table for us for Dinner tonight. It was leftover but it was quite good.
The rest of the night was taken up with TV. Fridays are one of our best nights for TV. We stayed up until the news was over again, and then rolled into the sack about 10:30 again. It had been a pretty good day since we got someone to come over and look at the dish.

We took a trip into Cullman this morning to go to the Flea Market. It was 30 miles to get all the way out of here.
We found one of the biggest collections of tools that I had ever seen before. I picked up a couple of do-dads that I needed and Sharon picked up a couple of books. By the time we finished the first building, we were both half-starved.
We left the Flea Market looking for a place we had seen advertised on the TV for the last week. Captain D’s. The GPS in the phone took us right to it. We were surprised that a fast-food place had Salmon on the menu. We both had a combination plate of Fish, Chicken and Shrimp along with Cole Slaw. It did not taste like fast-food. It was comparable with regular restaurant fare and it was very good. We also ordered Lobster Bites and Funnel Cake Sticks, also quite tasty. We thought we would definitely try this place again if we find it on the road.
After lunch we went back to the Flea Market to finish up over there and I sat in the car while Sharon perused the antiques. They were not my cup of tea.
On the way back home we stopped at another Flea Market we saw on the way over. It turned out to be antiques and rummage and a place the American Pickers would love to shop in. I sat in the car again but Sharon spent a while in there looking. She said it was full of furniture, clothing, dishes and jewelry. I didn’t have to spend much more time than I did, in there, to know I wasn’t interested.
In any event Sharon didn’t find anything to buy and we headed toward home for the day. After getting home we just sat around watching TV and snacking. It didn’t appear that either of us was going to be hungry for Supper tonight. And as it turned out, the snacks were enough to carry us through til bedtime.
We were watching a movie tonight that took us up to 11:30. We were actually just waiting for the movie to end to go to bed but neither of us wanted to turn it off. We had too much time already invested in it to give up on it.
Sunday, December 3, 2017
Sharon was up and off to church this morning while I stayed home and searched for my Sunday shows on TV. None of the networks were showing any of them this morning. Apparently they don’t give a rat’s patooty about national politics. And that’s not a bad thing.
After she got home we searched for the Packer game but to no avail. With their lousy season I wasn’t surprised that they wouldn’t be on TV. We got the highlights and the last couple of minutes of the game when they switched to it after the first game was over with.
We finished up the leftover Turkey Pot Pie for Supper tonight, and Sharon whipped us up a salad to go with it. It was quite good.
We only saw half of 60 Minutes tonight cause we thought we were on CBS channel but we weren’t. By the time we switched over it was half over. It wasn’t a big deal cause it was just a rehash of previous years shows. But they did a quick mention of all the previous hosts from the beginning.
After 60 minutes we watched the Carol Burnett 50 year anniversary show. Most of the guests were people who hadn’t even been born when it was on. But it was pretty good watching the clips from the old show.
We searched for other stuff to watch until we finally went to the padded room about 10:30.
