I was up early this morning having gotten a lovely night’s sleep last night.. The wind was still blowing today but not as severe as it was yesterday or the day before. It was also a warm wind this morning.
We were off to Billy Reed’s this morning for Breakfast. We had been here before for Lunch but never for Breakfast. The atmosphere in Billy Reeds is quite elegant even though the prices are very reasonable. And it goes without saying that the food is good.
We met Terry and JoAnn here, and as a matter of fact arrived at the same time. We were walking into the place when we noticed them across the lot. We had a nice Breakfast together and it will be one of our last ones. They’ll be going home on Thursday.
After Breakfast we went straight home so Sharon could get a handle on the laundry. She took off with that and I got busy in the motorhome. I had a few things to check on in preparation of our trip north on the way home.
One thing I had to do specifically was to check on reservations to get into Port Chicago National Memorial. We need to make those arrangements at least two weeks ahead of time. This will be our third time to attempt the visit. We’ve tried a couple of other times in previous years when we were in the area.
By the time Sharon got back home from the laundry it was too late to go to the pool, even though it was a nice enough day for it. We snacked before Supper cause neither of us was ready for it. Sharon decided that she was going to nap before Supper and that was fine with me.
When she got up she whipped up some Bratwurst with onions and green peppers and Fried Potatoes. It was quite tasty indeed.
We retired to our usual entertainment for the night, in front of the Telly. There was so much on the DVR that Sharon had recorded, we’ll have enough to watch for the next few weeks. Tonight we stayed up until 11 before we finally closed up shop.

We were up this morning to a very slow start having gotten another good night’s sleep for a change.
Sharon was off on her walk again this morning have missed the last couple of days. She’s been busy with my problems over the past couple of mornings. She’s also been busy going out for Breakfast with friends. Good for her.
We ate Breakfast at home this morning cooking for ourselves to our varied tastes. I had a bagel and a couple of pieces of toast and Sharon had Yogurt and an orange.
I spent most of the morning trying to make a file with our driver’s licenses so we could send it to Port Chicago for entrance into the National Memorial. I finally got it taken care of and I’m ready to send it out for them to check it out.
After lunch, and early this afternoon, we went to the pool, me for the first time in over 17 days. The water in the pool has been so warm that I really haven’t missed it except for the friendship and conversation. I kind of feel that I’m isolated from everything after a while. I seemed to have some friends in the pool as they welcomed me back again. We stayed until 4 when Sharon had to make her way home to start Supper.
We would be having Chicken and Rice for Supper tonight. But Sharon is putting a new twist on it today. She’s adding Mexican seasoning as I’ve suggested in the past. And as a matter of fact it turned out quite tasty indeed. We also had “corn off the cob” to finish off the meal.
I was content tonight to sit and watch the tube for a few hours. We still had plenty of stuff on the DVR to catch up on so were not shy of programs to carry us through. We hung in there tonight until 11 before we ended it for the night. We could hear the Fat Lady singing in the background when the lights finally went out.

We were off to the Cottage 2 this morning to meet Terry and JoAnn for our last Breakfast together for this year. The weather was bright and shining and nice and warm. We were running late this morning because of me, and we called them and told them we’d be a little late. As it turned out we were a couple of minutes early and arrived at the same time they did.
After Breakfast we said our good-bye’s since they’ll be leaving in the morning and we probably won’t see them until next year.
On our way home we stopped at the Tourist Information Center and found that they had moved to a new location. Unfortunately we tried but couldn’t find them at their “new” location. We were attempting to get a California map for our trip north in a couple of weeks. We’ll have to find another information center to pick up the map.
After we got back home we sat around for a couple of hours before we headed over to the pool for the afternoon. They seemed to have cooled the water off some which is very pleasant to go into at this time. Sometimes it get too warm and it’s not even refreshing. We stayed at the pool until about 4 today and then came home so Sharon could make her magic for Supper.
Sharon picked up a slab of Ham at the store the other day and that’s what we were having tonight. She baked some Sweet Potatoes with apple and cinnamon and we had some leftover veggies. None of it seemed to go together, but together it all tasted great.
After Dinner and Dishes we camped out in front of the TV for the night. We still had stuff on the DVR that we could watch if the programming goes to hell again. We were up until about 10:30 tonight before we called it quits.

Sharon was off on her walk this morning as soon as she got up. I guess she figures that if she goes early it’ll be a lot cooler. And it always is.
After she got back I offered to cook us a nice Breakfast with the leftover Ham from last nights Supper. I had everything done when I spilled a glass of Red Juice (Pomegranate) all over our table and the floor. I got so upset that I threw the whole Breakfast in the garbage. Eggs, Hash Browns and Toast all in the hopper. A Temper Tantrum that resulted in a cold bagel for Breakfast. Go figure.
Sharon had a yogurt for Breakfast and was just fine with that. She also cleaned up the mess from the juice. It’s a good thing that at least one of us is sane.
I spent the rest of the morning trying to notify the National Park Service to request a tour of Port Chicago National Memorial in Concord near San Francisco. I had absolutely no luck either by calling them or sending them an e-mail 3 days ago. Without a tour reservation we can’t get into the park. And as of this point and after 3 tries, in three different years, we won’t be getting in this year either. I think I’ll just write them off the to do list. We’ve got other fish to fry.
We headed over to the pool this afternoon and the people in the pool were all strangers. Roy and Maryann were at the casino today and would be in later. Probably about the time we’ll be ready to go home, they’ll arrive. But we’ll see them for about an hour or so before we have to get home.
We had burgers tonight for Supper. No fries, no salad just burgers with tomato, lettuce and onions. It hit the spot for just a burger but that’s all we wanted.
It was Card Bingo night tonight and we left to go to the Upper Clubhouse at the regular time. We sat with Roy and Maryann Parent tonight. They didn’t win anything tonight, but we managed a candy bar and a $3.40 pot. It seems the crowd is thinning out for the year. There’s less money in the “game pots.”
After Bingo we came back home and watched some stuff that we had on the DVR recorded for tonight. We stayed up until 10:45 watching TV until it was time for us to call it quits for the night.

We got a leisurely start this morning since I had an appointment with the doctor at 10 and we both ate a bagel and had some juice for Breakfast. After the doctor we would think about having a meal.
We took off across the valley at about 9:15 to make sure we made the appointment on time. We managed to make it on time even though I had to wait an hour to be seen by the doctor. I wasn’t much concerned since they had squeezed me in so that I could find out the results from the tests in the hospital. When I finally got in to see the doctor he informed me that he wasn’t happy that it had been a year since I had seen him. And if I wasn’t more diligent about seeing him he was going to drop me as a patient. I hate not having a doctor out here because of the number of times that I’ve needed one, but so long Doc, I’ll find another if we ever come back out here again.
After the doctors we went top Denny’s for Breakfast. Unfortunately none of their specials came with toast so I had to order an omelette in order to get toast. Our bill came to $17 by the time we were done. I wasn’t happy since we could have gotten a Breakfast for $14 at the Cottage Too. Or we could have gone to get Chinese at the Hibachi City Grill.
We left for the pool at the usual time today. There weren’t many people in the pool when we got there. It soon had quite a number of people who arrived later on. It filled up with about 2 dozen people before we left at 4 PM. We came home to have Dinner.
Sharon whipped up Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwiches and Pea Soup for tonight. It wasn’t a big meal but neither of us cared since we ate a late Breakfast at Denny’s. It was enough for us on this warm night.
We knew we were going to be sitting in front of the TV for the rest of the night so we assumed our positions until it was time to go to bed at 11. It had been a long day for some reason.

We were off to Two Springs RV Resort this morning for the Buffet Breakfast. We had nobody to go with so we were off on our own. We managed to find some friends at the resort that we ended up sitting with. We also found out that this was going to be the last Breakfast of the year. We were hoping that next week, our last week here, would be the last one.
After we left we stopped in town at the grocery store for a couple of things that we needed for today. After a quick stop at the grocery, we headed back home.
We sat around resting our Breakfast for a couple of hours, before we went to the pool for the afternoon. There were about a dozen people in the pool when we got there. It soon filled up with another dozen or so before we left. It also emptied back out again.
We got back home about 4 and got ready to go to the Upper Clubhouse for the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner. It wasn’t the right date for the Dinner but we had our Corned Beef and Cabbage today. Sharon likes to have the meal even though I could do without it. It was pretty good and enough of a portion for anybody’s liking.
After Dinner we came back home to settle in front of the Telly for the night. We had plenty to watch since we still haven’t caught up on the taped programs since last weekend. We were up until 11 tonight watching to our hearts content.

Sharon was up and gone to church today while I headed for the TV and my Sunday shows.
I’ve been having trouble with my computer for the last week and if I get this chapter of the Journal published, it will be nothing short of a miracle. I really don’t expect that I’ll be able to accomplish it.
Sharon called when she got to the church this morning so it will be another “Tamale Day” today. We’ve been getting them pretty regular over the past month. For a dollar apiece they’re hard to pass up.
We’ve been waiting for over a week to hear from the National Park Service about a reservation to get into Port Chicago National Memorial in Concord, California. We haven’t heard anything yet so I guess we won’t be going since you need a confirmed reservation for a tour of the place. This was our third try over several years to get the tour.
We had our Tamales for lunch today and then sat around for a couple of hours just digesting them before we went to the pool for the afternoon. There weren’t people there since the “late visit” Canadians have gone home. Those were the people who came late in the year because of the exchange rate of our dollar as compared to theirs.
After the pool today we decided that we’d go to McDonalds for Supper tonight. They’re having a special on Big Macs and its been a while since we’ve had that for a meal anyway. We usually have fast food for lunch and we rarely eat out at Dinner time. But today, Sharon couldn’t think of anything to have, so we ate out.
We had nothing to do but watch TV for the night. March Madness has already screwed up the schedule on CBS so taping was going to be a creative process tonight. If it isn’t golf or basketball, it’s football that makes a mess of the Sunday Schedule. But we managed to tape what we wanted and got to watch all the tapings before we headed for bed tonight at 10:30.
