After getting shaved and showered, we were off across the valley to the Sunshine Café for Breakfast with Terry and JoAnn.  We left early today thinking we could beat them to the restaurant, but they were sitting there when we arrived.  He said they got there early so he could save us a premium seat.  We were sitting at a table in the front Dining Room and not at a booth.  He did his job well.
After Breakfast, Sharon wanted to find a used book store that she found in Palm Springs to look for a book that would finish out the series that she’s reading.  We found the bookstore but they didn’t have the book.  She had one more possibility that Terry found with his phone in Rancho Mirage.  We headed out for Rancho Mirage but the address of the supposed bookstore was in an exclusive gated community.  We didn’t even try to get in, and turned the car around and came home.  I guess Google doesn’t know everything.
Sharon took a little nap when we got home and I started work on the Newsletter.  I got a couple of stories whipped out before I quit for the day.
By the time Sharon arose from her slumber it was time to go to the pool.  When we got there we found about a dozen people there and floating in the water on their noodles.  It seemed like when we left at 4:15 everybody else was leaving too.  It had nothing to do with us, but there were only a couple of people left.  Al and Judy Hartman were two of the people that stayed.  They came down late today.
We came back home and Sharon decided we were going to have Coney Dogs for Supper tonight.  Hot Dogs in a bun covered with Sloppy Joe Mix with a thin streak of yellow mustard down the middle.  It is quite good and we have them quite often from A&W at home.  We get em’ for 99 cents on Tuesdays at home.
After Supper we staked out our Real Estate in front of the TV when we got a tinkle on the phone.  Upon checking, Sharon realized that Tom and Barb Gauthier at home, were wanting to play Trivia Crack.  Always up for a game, we answered and we were playing til about 10 tonight.  We had to pause the TV while we answered the questions.  We lasted til 11 tonight before we traveled the short distance to the bed and the warm covers.

Sharon, as usual, was off on her walk as soon as she got up this morning.  I, of course was on my way to the TV and my Foxnews.  By the time she got back, she felt ambitious and suggested washing the car.
We ate Breakfast at home this morning.  She made herself some scrambled eggs and I just toasted a Bagel.
While she was out washing the car, I volunteered to clean up the dishes from last night and this morning.  We were both happy at the final results.  She got the car washed and also got someone to do all the dishes.
By the time lunch rolled around we didn’t have any bread in the house so we had to go shopping in downtown Desert Hot Springs.  We decided that we were there because we wanted to use the vacuum near Stater Brothers to finish the car, we’d stop at McDonald’s and have our lunch.  So we stopped and had our usual along with a Hot Fudge Sundae and an apple pie.  Her for Sundae, me for Apple Pie.
We made a quick stop in Von’s Grocery for bread and then went for the vacuum cleaner at the car wash.  Unfortunately it looked like the vacuums had been ransacked and all the hoses were missing from the vacuums.  I guess if you don’t chain “it” down, it’s fair game for thieves.
We came back home and Sharon figured that she had enough time for a nap before she goes to the pool this afternoon.  And as soon as she got up we headed over for a dip in the warm water. The pool was relatively full today and we stayed a little later having had a late lunch today.  By the time we got home, neither of us was hungry for Supper so we just fended for ourselves tonight.  Sharon decided that her Supper was going to be a bag of popcorn.  I had peanuts and coke when we came back from the pool and still wasn’t hungry for a sandwich or anything else.  We had picked up some mini-Danish from the store this morning and I had a couple of those.
We planted ourselves in front of the TV for the night and had at least 5 shows to watch tonight that were our regulars.  And four of those shows were at least an hour long.  The DVR will save them until we can get a slot to view them.  We both lasted until 11 tonight before we folded up our tents and crashed.

After getting up this morning Sharon trudged out on her walk.  She complains before she goes and then complains when she gets back.  But she almost always forces herself to go.
It was Taco Wednesday today but we had already decided yesterday that we were going to skip it today.  We didn’t have anybody to drag over there anyway and felt it wouldn’t kill us to take a day off.  So besides cooking our own Breakfasts today, we just stayed home.
We thought we might get an early start on the pool today but I got hung up ordering batteries for our camcorder.  I tried through Panasonic and they never heard of the damn thing.  I also tried through a camcorder website that wanted $89 for the thing.  I finally Googled it on the Internet and found the exact battery for $12.99.  I decided that for that price I would pick up two of them.  So after a couple of hours of searching I finally got them ordered.  Whew!
We managed to get to the pool by 3 o’clock and it was moderately crowded.  By this time all the people we knew were there and soaking.  Al and Judy Hartman left this morning for Yuma for a spell and then they’ll head toward home.  But I think that Iowa might not be too hospitable this early in the year.  We stayed at the pool until 4:30 before we headed home and to Supper.
Sharon had made Pasties this afternoon while I worked on the Newsletter so our meal was waiting for us when we got home.  Pasties are Ground Beef, Potatoes, Onions and Salt and Pepper rolled up into a Butter sweetened crust and baked in the oven.  They are very good to say the least, and my family is famous for making them.  At least in the U.P. of Michigan.
After Dinner we settled in for the night in front of the Idiot Box and tuned it to our favorite channels for the night’s entertainment.  We had enough to entertain us for the entire night and didn’t collapse into the bed until 11.

Sharon was up and walking this morning but before she left she stopped at the door to complain about it.  I told her what I was writing in the Journal about her walking.  She laughed and then left.
I finished up the Newsletter while she was gone on her walk.  It’s been a while since I finished up this early.  I’ll still wait until the end of the month before I send it out.  Besides I still need to think of a logo for the masthead.  It changes every month and I’m running out of ideas.
We had Breakfast at home this morning since we had no invitations and no desire to make any.  Sharon and I each cooked our own since both have different ideas of what’s good, and good for us.  She likes leaf spinach in her eggs and me not so much.  I like to stay away from anything green and leafy unless she chokes it down me.
We left for grocery shopping at Wal-Mart on Monterrey right after lunch and my shower.  We were over there for quite a while and got back home just in time to put the groceries away and get ready to go out to eat.  Needless to say we didn’t attend the “float circus” today because we didn’t have enough time.
We were going to Applebee’s tonight and we had to be there at 4:30 so we needed to leave here by 4 PM to get there on time.  We would be dining tonight with Terry and JoAnn and Dick Smith and Diane.  After eating, we said our good-byes to Dick and Diane since they will be leaving on Saturday.  It’s a shame because they won’t experience Two Springs Buffet on Saturday.  It’s always a highlight of my week.
We got back home at about 6:10 and in time to play Card Bingo at 6:30 tonight, but we decided not to go.  I think we were both too tired to go and we had been drinking at Applebee’s.  We weren’t tipsy, but just a little tired.
And to prove my point, I fell asleep a couple of times while watching TV for the night.  I even dozed off during Elementary which never happens to my favorite shows.  I seemed to have been alert when it was time to go to bed at 10.  Going to bed early is another suspicious thing about tonight.

Friday, February 26, 2016

We were up and someone was out walking early today.  She’s a persistent little lady I’ll have to say that.
When she got home we both cooked our own Breakfasts.  We hardly ever eat the same Breakfast unless we go out for it.  We both had some eggs today but cooked differently, and she also adds leaf spinach to hers.  Ick!
This was going to be another lovely day today.  The Sun was up and it was already starting to get warm early.  We didn’t have anything planned for today so we just stayed home this morning.  We did, however, have to turn the air conditioning on early today.  That seems to be a regular thing every day now.  We still have to run the portable heater on some nights and then run the air during the day.  I’m glad we’re not Desert Spa Hotel paying for electric this year.
We went to the pool early today and still only stayed until about 4:30.  We did find a place to go for a regular Friday Night Fish Fry.
By the time we got home we took off for the Desert Spa Hotel and their Sunshine Café.  Not the other Sunshine Café in Cathedral City.  This one is in Desert Hot Springs.
We had been to the Spa Hotel before for Karaoke a couple of years ago.  We always had a good time and it was the first time we had experienced “no smoking” in a bar.
The fish and chips were quite good  and a nice place to have a Friday night fish fry.  And incidentally their still running the Karoake at night.  And I think they’re actually running it tonight.
We came back home and assumed our usual positions in front of the tube for the rest of the night.  Sharon doesn’t watch much TV anymore.  She has other things to occupy her evening.  She reads, Cross Stitches, does puzzles and games on her Nook, does crossword puzzles and such.  About once or twice a night there’s a show on that she’ll watch.
We were up til 10:30 tonight before we finally gave up the ghost.

Saturday, February 27, 2016

We were off to our usual haunt this morning to the Buffet at Two Springs RV Resort.  The Breakfast is always good and the price is very reasonable.  A Buffet Breakfast for $6.50 is nothing to sneeze at.  I usually try to have something different every week.  We met Terry and JoAnn and Ron there.  We left a few minutes early this morning but we still didn’t beat them there.
By the time we got home Sharon was up for some rummage sales.  She saw a couple of signs on our way over to Breakfast.  I opted out since it’s really hard to find treasures out here.  She went by herself and couldn’t find a thing she couldn’t live without.
We sat around the motorhome for a little while and then headed out for the pool for the afternoon.  We were early today but we weren’t prepared for the temperature of the pool.  It was quite warm today and not very comfortable.  Occasionally it get a little warm and today was one of those days.  We stayed in it for about an hour and since none of our friends showed up we got out.  Sharon had a brilliant idea as soon as we got out.  She said she’d run home and get money and we’d have an ice cream cone from the store.
We came home for Supper tonight and Sharon whipped up an Impossible Cheeseburger Pie.  I mistook it for an Impossible Taco Pie and put salsa on it.  It wasn’t as good as the second piece I had that I used the tomatoes and lettuce and thousand island dressing on.  It was an honest mistake cause they both look alike to me.
After Supper we settled in front of the tube for the night.  We had a ton of stuff on the DVR to watch since tonight was a lousy night for TV.  We did have enough to watch to take us to 10:30.

Sunday, February 28, 2016

We had our usual Sunday morning today.  Sharon was off and headed to church, and I was off and headed to the Sunday political shows on TV.    She called me today before she went into church.  The “Tamale Ladies” were there today and she called me so that I could make up the Rotella Sauce before she got home.  We were going to try the Rotella Tomatoes and melted Velveeta Cheese.
After Church she picked up enough Tamales for us and for Phil and Joyce who had called yesterday to ask about them.  They actually called to report Jordan’s medical condition which we have been interested and concerned about.  Jordan is their Grandson.
Sharon also stopped at K-Mart on the way home to pick up a couple of things.  She even got home early this morning, before lunch.
Lunch time was pretty good today with the new sauce to put on the Tamales.  It had a little bit of a bite but so did the Tamales so it turned out to be quite good.
After lunch we headed over to the pool for the afternoon.  We were happy to find the temperature of the water to be a little cooler today.  The water from the Hot Springs in this area comes out of the ground at about 130 degrees and they have to cool it off before its allowed into the hot tub or pool.  And today they got it cooled off quite nicely and it was very comfortable.
We stayed at the pool until about 4PM and then came home to eat Dinner.  We would both be having leftovers tonight.  I had the leftover pasties and Sharon had the leftover Impossible Cheeseburger Pie.  We were both well satisfied with our choices.
Tonight was a Telly night for sure.  We didn’t have much to watch tonight so we took in the Oscars.  We never have enough shows for Hollywood to pat themselves on the back.  So with not much else to watch we stared at the tube and watched the narcissists praise each other.
It took us to 10:30, however, before we decided that as long as we were getting up early tomorrow we head for the bed.  Ha I’m a poet and didn’t know it.
