It’s moving day again. We’ll only be moving across the valley about 14 miles and we got a very leisurely start this morning. I managed to publish my Journal before we left this morning. Just as I finished, Sharon got up and started getting ready to disembark. We were on the road by 10 and we arrived at Catalina about 10:30.
We had problems with the site we had selected and when we tried to retract the jacks to pull out, they wouldn’t work. Needless to say I had a meltdown when I just wanted to get parked and set up. We screwed around with them for about a half hour before we finally got them to go up. We moved to a different site and 10 minutes later we were all set up.
Sharon stopped over to the office to register and check our mail and then we got a couple of hours to relax before we hit the pool. I needed a couple of hours to relax, and cool off.
We headed toward the pool about 2 and it was almost empty. After we were there for about a half hour it started to fill up, however. By the time we left, there were quite a few people soaking up the warmth.
We were meeting at Applebee’s tonight for Dinner with Terry and JoAnne, Phil and Joyce and Henry and Arlene. In the afternoon JoAnne called and said they wouldn’t be there. That was great since they had suggested it last week. It was Burger and Beer night but Sharon and I were the only ones who had burgers. The others ordered off the 2 for 20 menu. We had a nice Dinner and when we left, Henry and Arlene gave Phil and Joyce a ride home and we went over to Outdoor Resorts to talk to Terry and JoAnne. They weren’t home so we came back home.
We staked out our territory in front of the TV for the rest of the night. We had some good shows on tonight so it wasn’t tough trying to get to 11 o’clock. When it finally rolled around we went silently to the rack and collapsed for the night.

We were off to the Cottage 2 this morning with Phil and Joyce, and at the time we were there, the place was almost empty, and we had our choice of places to sit. We had our usual lovely Breakfast to start out the day.
On our way home we stopped at the Post Office to mail a package out to Jennifer for her birthday. When we arrived at the Post Office Sharon realized that she didn’t have Jennifer’s new address, so we had to leave without mailing the package.
As soon as we got home Sharon decided that she’s turn right around and go back and mail the package. She had to pick up a couple of things at the store anyway so she was gone for about a half hour.
By the time she got back it was almost time to go to the pool. It was a lovely sunshiny day and getting warmer with each minute that was passing. I guess most everybody else felt about the same way with the number of people that decided to take a dip today. We were there for a couple of hours before we left and came back home.
We were having Chicken Ala King for Supper tonight, which is something we get only rarely. But it’s a real treat when we finally get it. It was delicious and it really hit the spot.
We didn’t have much to watch on the TV tonight. The Muslim-in-Chief will be on tonight telling us lies and taking credit for all of his failures. We’ll come away from it trying to figure out how many billions of dollars he’ll spend and we’ll get nothing from it. And after listening to the speech my prediction was entirely correct.
It was lucky that we had other taped programs that we could watch so we didn’t have to listen to analysis of what he just told us. We were ready for bed tonight when the hour rolled around.

My Fox & Friends that I recorded this morning spent the first couple of hours discussing the liar-in-chief’s speech last night. It gets very tiring listening to him complain about the same things every year and doing nothing about it.
We woke up this morning and the sky was a little overcast but the weather was still warm. Sharon took off on her walk and I stayed home and worked on our Summer pictures from 2014. This batch of pictures totaled only 8 and a half minutes and didn’t take long to assemble and add the transitions, titles and graphics.
It was Taco Wednesday today at the VFW and we left the campground a little late hoping we would be able to find a place to sit. In the last few weeks it has been tough to squeeze us in. But today we found room at the first booth as we came in the door. There were only the 4 of us today including Phil and Joyce. And surprisingly the “inside” dining room was quite a bit quieter than the other.
We got back home about 2 and we were just in time to head out to the pool. We found Diana Brown there all by herself, with strangers. We asked her why and her answer was that Terry was over collecting their mail. He soon showed up and the universe was back in balance again. We were at the pool for a couple of hours before we came back home again.
Neither of us was really hungry for Supper tonight having eaten lunch a little late today. Later Sharon warmed up the leftover Chicken Ala King for us to munch on. It was still quite good even though the mixture was now a little thicker, having survived a reheating.
Needless to say we acquired our positions in front of the TV for the night. We had enough to watch, and then some, to carry us to 11 and the bewitching hour. We gladly caved tonight.

We got up to another nice, sunshiny day today with the prospect of it getting warmer later on.
Sharon was off on her walk this morning, and complaining when she got back of her aches and pains. I keep telling her that exercise is no good for her but she doesn’t listen. I intend to die fully rested and looking good.
She also had some shopping to do this morning and took care of that when she left home for awhile. She called me around noon and asked if I wanted her to stop for lunch somewhere and bring it home. I was all for it so she stopped at McDonald’s and brought us home some goodies.
After she got home and ate she thought that she needed a rest for her weary bones, from walking, and laid down for a nap that never materialized. And as long as she was trying to nap, I sat in my recliner and took a short snooze.
We woke up in time to go to the pool this afternoon, however. There were quite a few people there when we got there and more when we left. They must be a group of “late afternoon” floaters.
We came home to Country Ribs that had been cooking in the crock pot since this morning. Sharon fried up some sliced potatoes and added a salad and we were eating a feast. It has been a while since we had Country Ribs or Baby Backs cooked from our own hands.
We left the confines of our own coach tonight for the Upper Clubhouse to play a little Card Bingo. Phil, Joyce and Sharon all won tonight and I just ended up paying the freight.
I taped everything we wanted to watch tonight on TV and we settled in to catch up on those shows. Even though we took the night off of watching TV we still managed to see all of our shows including a new one tonight.

We were off to a leisurely start this morning to Del Taco with Phil and Joyce. Phil had a few coupons for a dollar off and he gave us one to use. Unfortunately the service was horrible and my burrito was almost cold by the time we got it. The only good thing was the free coffee we got as seniors.
Phil was driving this morning and we stopped at a couple of rummage sales on the way home. We couldn’t find anything we couldn’t live without so we went home again.
We sat around for a couple of hours watching TV and Sharon surfing the Internet until it was time to go to the pool.
Today it was quite crowded in the pool for a change. We had several friends who were already there and a few more showed up later. The pool is so warm that you have to be in it for awhile before it seems to cool down to a reasonable temperature. We don’t like to complain about the temp because when they shut it down they go too far the other way.
Sharon had whipped us Crab Cakes for us before she went to the pool this afternoon and put them in the fridge to firm up. When she got home she made quick work of getting them fried up and on the plate. We also had some fried potatoes that were leftover and she made some mashed potatoes. We also had some pickled beets and a cranberry relish. The whole thing was a wonderful feast.
After that I was really ready to sit and watch the TV. But I still had the DVR running tonight so we wouldn’t have to watch everything so early. We managed to stretch it all out til after 11 tonight. But we were ready for bed when the hour rolled around.

We awoke to a very nice day today that’s starting off just like the previous 4 Saturdays. And that is to drive down to Two Springs resort for their Buffet Breakfast. My Saturdays are such a happy time for me. We picked up Henry and Arlene this morning and we all had a lovely Breakfast.
We were planning to go to the Spa Casino after Breakfast this morning for their farmer’s/flea market. But Sharon changed her mind sometime during Breakfast so we never went.
We came back home and had nothing to do for the next couple of hours, so we just sat around and I worked on my pictures from last winter. Our Goin’ South pictures were not on a disc yet.
After lunch, which we didn’t eat, we went to the pool for a couple of hours. Everybody was pretty much there except for Phil. He was playing pool in the pool room. Phil actually came out and joined us about 45 minutes before we left for the day.
We were having reheated leftovers for Supper tonight so it really didn’t matter when each of us ate tonight. Sharon had Pork Sandwiches from the leftover country ribs and I settled for another edition of the Chicken Ala King. I also finished up the Cranberry relish which went really well with the chicken.
We were in for another night of channel surfing to find something to watch for the evening. Saturday is almost impossible to find any original programming or anything decent to watch. We toughed it out until bedtime, however.
Sunday, January 25, 2015
It was an overcast day today but the weather was still warm. Sharon was off to church when she got up and I was watching my Sunday “news” shows. I call them news only because I learn new things about the enemy. They come on these shows and make the most vicious, ridiculous statements about the state of this country. It’s really keeping an eye on the political assassins of this world.
Sharon was supposed to pick up Tamales at the church for lunch today, but as it turned out, the “Tamale ladies” weren’t there today. They seemed to have everything else except the Tamales.
Sharon was planning to also stop at K-Mart and do some browsing before she came home. The surprise was that after she left K-Mart she was wondering if she should stop for lunch somewhere on her way back. Big Macs were on sale for 2 for $5 and I was okay for that.
After lunch we took off for the pool and several people were there including a few of our friends. There seems to be an inordinate amount of strangers in the pool that we’ve never seen before. But then again its been 3 years since I’ve been in this pool. There are bound to be people that I’ve never seen before.
We were at the pool til about 3:30 when we left and came home. Henry and Arlene were coming over for a cocktail hour this afternoon. They stopped by right at 4 o’clock and stayed til after dark. When it gets dark, it gets a little colder here and not very nice to sit outside.
We were in leftover mode tonight for Supper. Sharon had made Country Ribs a couple of days ago and tonight we would have the pulled pork sandwiches with the leftovers. They were very good to say the least.
We had leftovers on the TV tonight also. But even though Sundays are as bad as Saturdays for TV, we managed to surf the channels for entertainment and finished up the night with Lockup. We mad it to 11 with no trouble.
