We got a leisurely start this morning pulling out of Catalina and arriving at Cathedral Palms RV Resort in Cathedral City, California.  We made the 14 mile trip in about 25 minutes and still arrived before check-in time.
Almost before we arrived, Terry and JoAnne were at the campground and drinking coffee with us.  It wasn’t long before we realized that we were directly under the flight path of the Palm Springs International Airport.  They come right over our heads when they land.  It could have been worse since it’s much noisier when they take off.
I suggested going to lunch at In-n-Out Burger today, since we were all together and it was lunchtime.  It was met with a resounding affirmation.  It was really crowded when we got there,  but Terry managed to find a table as soon as he walked in.  We had a nice lunch and even stayed for awhile after we got done eating, since the place started to clear out somewhat.
We came back home and I finished hooking up the motorhome for our 7 day stay here.  The planes were flying overhead with great regularity and we were just hoping they’ll stop overnight.
Sharon decided to stop over to the pool and find out about the temperature and whether we’ll be going for a dip this week or not.  She got back in about a half hour and said that I might enjoy it if it gets really hot out.  An early indication that the water may be a little nippy.  No matter, if we really feel like it, we can always drive back to Catalina to see our friends.  Besides we have to go back for our mail anyway.
We fended for ourselves for Supper tonight.  Sharon heated up the Chicken and Noodle Alfredo and I opted for the leftover Pigs in a Blanket.  I’m assuming that both were still good because there were no complaints.
After Supper, we settled in for the moving picture show that was playing on the idiot box.  We had plenty to keep us up until 10:30 tonight, but not much after that.  I headed for the bedroom and left Sharon to turn off the TV.  She accused me of sneaking off but I really didn’t get away clean since I got caught at it.

We got up this morning to a very nice warm day, and we were off to the Sunshine Café for Breakfast with Terry and JoAnne.  It’s sometimes difficult to find a parking place at the café but we managed to pull into a spot where someone was pulling out.
The Sunshine Café is an interesting place.  They cater to the gays in the area.  They even distribute a gay phone book with all the businesses and even names of the people in the Palm Springs area who practice the lifestyle.  We go there cause they have a nice special and the food is always good.  Besides with us being camped here in Cathedral City, the café is only a hop, skip and a jump down the road.  The cook didn’t disappoint again today.
We got back home about 10:30 and Sharon took off for a walk around the park.  Not for any specific reason, just to go for a walk.  While she was gone she ran into a couple who had met us years ago at Catalina and remembered her since then.  They are from Florence, Wisconsin which is 30 miles from our house.  And as luck would have it they pulled in and parked right next to us here at Cathedral Palms.  It’s quite a small world when it comes to Rvers.
This afternoon I was working on getting my Summer 2013 pictures onto a CD for posterity.  I like to try and get them together before they get lost, but this time I’ve neglected them for awhile.  As long as my Hard Drive doesn’t crash I’m okay, which is never a guarantee.
Sharon decided we would have Patty Melts for Supper tonight and I was happy with the choice.  She also reheated the leftover Macaroni and cheese from the other night for a side dish.  It all ended up being quite good and satisfying.
We paid the fee for the “motorhome theater” and settled into our seats for the night.  We had a final episode of “The Curse of Oak Island” on tonight.  After watching it for the entire season we found that they’re still speculating on whether or they’ll find anything in the hole in the ground.  They have a ton of legends and stories to sort out about the treasure they hope to find.  It was an interesting series but if another good show comes on opposite that one I think we’ll be done watching it.  We had to stay up until 11 tonight to catch that last episode that was on tape.

Another bright sunshiny day was on our horizon this morning with a warm temperature to go along with it.
We were off to a leisurely start this morning not having anywhere we had to be.  We did plan to go to the VFW today for Taco Wednesday but that wasn’t until noon.  I had a chance to work on my Summer pictures from 2013 before we left for the VFW.
We left home right at noon hoping to make the trip to the VFW by 12:15.  We actually arrived a couple of minutes late, something I hate to do.  Henry and Arlene were waiting for us with a couple of pitchers of beer.  After we got done eating we stayed until the last dog was hung.  We were the last ones in the place.  It was only about 2 o’clock.
We had to pick up our mail at Catalina before we went home so we headed over there for a quick stop.  We took our swimsuits with us in case we felt like a dip before we came home.  We also wanted to check and see if Terry and Diana Brown had arrived yet.  We found them in the pool and we said our hellos and then we left for home.
By the time we got home the amount of beer that we drank hit home.  I sank into slumber in my recliner and Sharon went directly to bed.  We were both napping for about an hour or so.  We got up just in time to have a little bit for Supper.
We camped out in front of the Telly for the night.  We had plenty to watch since I was taping all night.  We were up til 11 before the TV finally went dark.

We were off to the Sunshine Café this morning with Terry and JoAnne.  As usual, we had a nice Breakfast and sat around for an extra hour drinking coffee.  Terry likes his coffee and we don’t mind the extra time.
After we got home we took off for Best Buy to buy some blank DVD’s so I can burn my Summer pictures to it.  The only type discs they had in stock were Memorex and I was looking for Sony.  I’ve been using Sony for years because that’s what the people at Pinnacle (software) recommended.
As long as we were in the area we headed up Monterrey Ave to Wal-Mart.  I thought there might be a good chance that they had the right discs.  We also had to pick up some groceries for the week.  They just happened to have the right discs but they were in a 50 pack.  I bought them anyway since I can still use them at home.
Sharon took off for the pool when we got home and the coward stayed home.  I’m not convinced that the water is warm enough for me.  I burnt my disc while she   was gone.  The report on the temperature of the water in the pool, when she returned, was inconclusive.  I kind of knew that it would be.  She’s been trying to get me into that  cold water.  She said it was around 84 degrees.  That’s a little too nippy for me.
We had Rigatoni and Meatballs for Supper tonight.  She didn’t have any lettuce to choke a salad down me tonight so she mad up a salad.  Onion, Cherry Tomatoes, Green Pepper and dressing was just fine with me.
We assumed our usual positions for the rest of the night.  We had some good shows on tonight and by gum we intended to watch them.  We stayed up until 11 tonight before we caught up on everything we had taped.

Friday, January 16, 2015

We decided this morning we would make our own big breakfast.  I never shy away from Pancakes, Waffles, Eggs and Bacon accompanied by Hash Browns ever, as long as I’ve got the equipment to make it.  I volunteer to make it whenever I can, but Sharon usually opts out.  This morning she was game so we went at it.  It was only Pancakes and Sausage today but it turned out very good and we wolfed it all down.
I had to take my computer to Best buy again today as I couldn’t log onto the Internet again.  It’s happened to me twice in a week.  I have to find out what he did to it to fix it.  I can’t keep running back every week to have him tweak it.
We also planned to go to the movie today to see “An American Sniper”.  We had bought a couple large popcorns to watch the movie but neither of us could finish it.  The movie was a powerful re-enactment of Chris Kyle’s military career.  By the time we came out of the theater, Sharon was crying and I was Speechless.  It was a fabulous presentation that concluded with a round of applause from the audience.  We were both quite moved by the experience.
We got back home around Suppertime but neither of us was hungry enough to eat anything at the time.  We just fended for ourselves later on.
We assumed the position in front of the magic tube tonight with plenty of shows to watch.  What wasn’t on “real-time” we had recorded for later viewing so we could stay up “late.”  And late it was by the time we retired. Almost 11 o’clock.

Saturday, January 17, 2015

We were off early this morning to make it to Two Springs RV Resort for their Buffet Breakfast.  We were meeting Terry and JoAnne, Henry and Arlene and Phil and Joyce Bach, who are now back from Yuma.  Since the place was crowded over the past two weeks we just assumed that it would be the same this week.  It wasn’t anywhere near as busy as it was the last two weeks.  But the food was good and we had plenty to eat.  Next week we’ll have a shorter distance to travel since we’ll be moving back to Catalina on Monday.  It’ll only be about 5 miles as compared to the 14 we drove today.
By the time we got home Sharon had already decided that she wanted to go to the College of the Desert today to look for a Birthday present for our daughter, Jennifer.  My scooter has been sitting in the car for the last month and has not been charged since we left home, so I opted to stay at home while she shopped.
She got back about 2 hours later having been disgusted cause she couldn’t find anything.  I guess the earrings and necklace, that she bought,  were nothing.
She left with the laundry almost immediately after she got home.  We discussed going out for Dinner tonight and I was supposed to call Terry and JoAnne to see if they were interested.  I called and left a message on their phone but they never called back.  We decided we’d go to Applebee’s and get the 2 for $25.  I had the half rack of ribs and Sharon had a steak.  It was quite good indeed.
After we left the restaurant we decided to take a drive by Terry and JoAnne’s at Outdoor Resorts and see if they were home.  They were, and we went in and had a couple of beverages and some conversation.  We stayed for a few hours and got home about 8:30 or so.
We watched a little tube of stuff that I had recorded on the DVR and then headed off for oblivion.

Sunday, January 18, 2015

We were met with a nice sunshiny day today where the temperature should be up in the high 70's today.
We were both up late this morning.  I rolled out about 7:40 and Sharon got up about an hour after that.It wasn’t a particularly tough day yesterday, so I don’t know what happened to us this morning.
Sharon was off to church as soon as she got ready.  There wouldn’t be any Tamales for lunch today as we are in Cathedral City and not Desert Hot Springs, so the Mexican ladies won’t be outside the church today.
Sharon made it home just in time for the kick-off of the Packer/Seahawk Championship game at noon.  The packers led the whole game, but when the final score was posted, the Packers were on the losing end.  We were so disappointed and I’m sure that most of Upper Michigan and all of Wisconsin felt the same way.  We were depressed for most of the afternoon.
I actually looked forward to going out and dumping our holding tanks after that  game.  We’ll be leaving here tomorrow and it’s usual for me to dump the day before.  I finished the job and got everything picked up and put away so we wouldn’t have to do it tomorrow.
Sharon was inside whipping up a Tator Tot Casserole for Supper tonight.  It’s been a while since we had that casserole and I always seem to enjoy the simple things.
After Dinner tonight we weren’t interested in the other Championship Game so we just waited for it to be over by surfing for things to watch.
We hit the hay about 11 tonight.  At least we’re starting to stay up a little later now.  We had to watch a couple of episodes of Lock-up though to get there.
