Today was a “move”day for us.  We’ll be headed just down the road to another AOR campground, Desert Pools.  We got a leisurely start this morning hoping that they would let us check in at 9:30.  Getting to Desert Pools early was apparently not a problem today as we slipped right past the gate and settled into our site.  Desert Pools is a membership campground that is now open to the public.  But from the number of unoccupied sites it doesn’t seem to be working that well.
Mario’s RV Repair would be coming over today to tarp the roof against the weather. We may or may not be here for the event.  I have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon and it’s right about when Mario said he’d be here.
Before I left for my appointment Mario arrived and discussed what he intended to do for the roof.  The temp was in the 90's so I knew that they were trying to figure out how to do it quickly.  There would be no shade to work in.
We got a call from Mario while we were at the doctor saying that he was having a difficult time sealing in the roof.  There didn’t seem to be anything to attach the tarp to.  He would do the best he could however.  And another problem arises.
By the time we got home it was scorchingly hot outside but at least the motorhome was cool inside.  We had the air conditioning on knowing that it wasn’t getting any cooler outside until tonight.
We were home about 3 PM but we decided that we would skip the pool today.  We were anxious to try the pool and see if it was any cooler than the pool at Catalina.  They keep that pool way to warm.
We had leftover Rigatoni and Meatballs for Supper tonight.  We had a choice of a couple of other things but the Rigatoni won out.
We settled in for our usual entertainment tonight in front of the TV.  There was enough on tonight to get us comfortably to 11 o’clock.

We were off this morning to LabCorp in Rancho Mirage to have some blood work done.  I had to be fasting while it was drawn and tested.  When we got to the Lab it was crowded with almost every seat in the waiting room full.  We had planned on having Breakfast at McDonald’s this morning but it was questionable whether we could make it back to Thousand Palms before 10:30.  We actually got back at 10:33 and too late for a Breakfast at McD’s.  We didn’t worry since Denny’s was right across the street. We had wonderful Breakfast at Denny’s although it cost a little more than McD’s.  I had a Senior Omelette and Sharon had Pecan Pancakes and they were both quite good.
After getting back home, we sat around for a couple of  hours before it was time to go to the pool today.  We would be staying at Desert Pools today to try out their pool.  We got to the pool about 2:30 after I took a short nap.  It was very nice indeed.  The water was cooler than Catalina, but not cold.  It was still a degree or so too warm but it was much more refreshing than Catalina.  We stayed at the pool until about 4:30 and then came home for supper.
Sharon whipped up Fried Chicken Strips for Supper tonight but we actually had a smorgasbord of leftovers to go along with it.  It included Garlic Noodles, Creamed Corn, homemade French Fries and a Salad.  We cleaned out the fridge tonight and it was all very good.
We went to the TV tonight but everything was a re-run except Chicago Fire..   I have no idea what the reason was for the re-runs but there they were.  We hung in there until 11 tonight anyway.

We were up and ready to go for Breakfast this morning with Terry and JoAnne over at the Sunshine Café. Terry just got back from Canada last night from his Uncle’s Funeral.  It didn’t seem crowded by the parking lot, but when we got inside, the place was overflowing with people.  We managed to find a table in the back Dining Room, to sit and wait for them, since we were a few minutes early.  When they arrived they motioned us back out to the front room.  Apparently, a table that had been full 5 minutes before, was now vacant.  Sharon ordered Pecan Pancakes this morning and they were huge.  She ate one and gave me the other one.  We left the Sunshine fuller than we’ve been all year.  By the time we got home we decided to take a nap for ourselves.
Checking the weather today they’re talking about rain and thunderstorms possibly this afternoon.  We need to go up and check the roof to make sure it’s sealed in for the rain.  I called the office and asked if they had a ladder we could use, since I couldn’t climb my rear ladder on the motorhome.  They delivered an extension in about 15 minutes.  Sharon went up on top and I got on the extension and we finished covering the roof with a sheet of plastic that I had from previous incidents.  It took us about an hour to get it done.  We were fortunate that the temp was a little cooler than it has been in the last few days.
We got a call from our Progressive Insurance this afternoon telling us that they will not cover any of the damage we incurred.  They referred to the exclusionary clause which allows them to determine that any loss will not be covered, depending on whether they want to pay or not.  The first reason on the 10 item list was “wear and tear”.  Even though they can’t show or prove there was any wear or tear, manufacturing defects or previous damage they are the determiner of the condition.  This was by far the most dishonest dealing I’ve ever had with an insurance company.  Apparently Progressive is more interested in producing commercials with Flo than paying they’re financial obligations.
We stayed home tonight for Supper and had a frozen DiGiorno’s pizza.  It was quite good and which we have decided is our favorite pizza over the past couple of years.
We garnered our positions for the night’s entertainment.  After dishes we settled in front of the tube and licked our wounds from the insurance news.  We watched TV until about 10:45 before we folded up our tents.

We were both up early this morning and Sharon took off with the laundry early.  She doesn’t want my help anymore because I think that’s part of her “me time.”  I used to go with her and help fold it all when we were done.
I took the time this morning to edit our video from last winter.  It’s going very slow and I suspect that it’s because the video is HD.  My computer is taking an enormous amount of time to render the effects that need to be added to the finished product.
Our plan for today was to go to the Hibachi City Grill for lunch with Phil and Joyce, Terry, and Dick Smith.  We left home at 12:30 for the 1 PM appointment.  We got there a few minutes before them, but then we sat down and had a wonderful lunch.  It was also good to catch up on conversation and things we’ve missed over the past year.
We were at the restaurant for a couple of hours and by the time we got back home it was almost too late for the pool.  We decided that we wouldn’t go today because we just wanted to sit and relax and digest our lunch.
The afternoon drifted into Suppertime and since we had another late lunch today we’d be skipping our Supper again tonight.  Suppertime turned inevitably into TV time and we were ready for the transition.  We had some re-runs on tonight but the good thing is that I rarely remember the ending.  So we still had enough to watch until 10:30 when we called it a day.

I had a doctor’s appointment today to check out a little problem I’ve been having and we also would be waiting for Sergio to come over to see about the roof.  We ate our Breakfast and by that time we needed to head out for the doctor.  We had to drive over to Rancho Mirage which is a 20 minute drive on a good day.  We made it just on time at 9:55.  The doctor gave me a clean bill saying all my tests were negative.
We got done at the doctor’s and decided that we’d stop for McDonald’s new Fish Sandwich on the way home.  I was disappointed in the sandwich but thinking it was just “okay.”  Sharon was happy cause she got a Hot Fudge Sundae to finish off her sandwich.
We came home and waited all afternoon for Sergio to call or come over.  He never showed and we missed another day in the pool.  He probably got tied up somewhere and I’ve already got in line at Redlands Truck Service so I’m not as concerned as I was before.
At 4 we took off for Applebees in Cathedral City for Dinner with Terry and JoAnne and Dick Smith.  Terry and JoAnne informed us that they were leaving tomorrow instead of on Monday so this will be the last time we’ll see them for this year.  We had a nice Dinner and we picked up the check for Dick because of the wonderful reference we got from him for the motorhome roof.  We are just hoping that it works out for the best.
We made it home early tonight and even early enough to catch anything that was good on TV.  Unfortunately, unless you’re a College Basketball fan at this time of the year, you may as well have a good game of Tiddleywinks.  March Madness completely takes over the airwaves on almost every channel that we receive on our DirecTv.  We watched a movie we had pre-recorded on the DVR called “inglorious Bastards.”  It was a pretty good movie for content but the sub-titles absolutely sucked.  They didn’t remain on the screen long enough for the average person to read them.  After a while we got tired of reversing the movie and pausing it to read the sub-titles.  For a professional movie it was a very poor rendition.
It did keep us up until 10:30 however in our quest to find something to watch.

We were off this morning to our usual Buffet Breakfast at Two Springs RV Resort.  Our Breakfast will come to an abrupt end after this week.  This is the last week that they’re having it.  We’ll miss it having been there every week that we were in town.
After Breakfast we came home and both decided to take a nap.  By the time we got a little snooze in it was time for the pool.  Sharon made Pasties before we left for the pool and they were simple to reheat when we got back.
It was quite warm out today and the pool was quite refreshing.  We’re hoping it’ll be as nice when we get back to Catalina next week.  They always keep they’re pool a little warmer than it needs to be.
When we got back from “the soak” she threw the Pasties in the oven and we were ready to eat in 10 minutes.
We were camped out in front of the TV for the rest of the night.  Saturday night is still a lousy night for TV but taping on the DVR mostly solves that problem.  Besides we always have Lockup to watch if we fail at all else.

Sunday, March 22, 2015

I woke up this morning and spent the day in bed.  It was coming out of both ends for most of the day.  I didn’t realize what was wrong until Sharon noticed my infected leg.  Cellulitus again.  Damn!!!
It was already looking like a dark day and it wasn’t getting any brighter
At Suppertime I ate a quarter of a pasty and then back to the bed.
