We got a leisurely start this morning since we would lose an hour on our way back to Desert Hot Springs. We got to the gas station and our step wouldn’t come back in. We didn’t notice it out until we got back into California and we pulled over at an exit. I fiddled with it for about 20 minutes and then decided I couldn’t get it back in. I decided that if we stayed on the highway we wouldn’t have a problem with it even if it stayed out. When we went through a construction zone we nailed 2 traffic cones before I realized what happened and steered away from them.
We stopped in Coachella and had the motorhome washed because of the mud we picked up in Yuma. We had no other incidents until we turned onto Mountain View Road about 2 miles from our campground. A huge gust of wind caught us and lifted the cap on the entire Driver’s Side of the coach. We heard the crash but suspected that we lost the awning on that side. It wasn’t that simple as we discovered when we arrived at the campground.
Sharon spent the next hour on the phone with our insurance company and the exchange seemed peaceful but we’ll see over the next few days if I need to call them or not. I don’t deal well with people on the phone. I get quite acerbic to say the least.
We stopped over the Phil and Joyce Bach’s motorhome to whine about our situation. We stayed for the length of a couple of beers. Mine was Root Beer but we did get the tale of the last week told including our newest tragedy of the roof cap flying off on the road.
We thought we might get a swim in today but we got some rain while we were on the road and then it turned a little chilly after we got here.
We were content to just stay in the motorhome for the night. Eat our Supper and then camp out in front of the TV and just relax.
We stayed up until 11 tonight before we relaxed ourselves into bed for the night.

We got up this morning with a date to go for Breakfast with Phil and Joyce. We were off to our usual haunt, The Cottage 2, in Desert Hot Springs. Needless to say we had a lovely Breakfast and we saw Roy and Marianne Parent at the restaurant. I spoke to him for a bit about the roof cap on the motorhome. The Parents are from Lower Michigan and this is the only time we see them is when we’re out here.
We got a call from the insurance adjuster while we were at the cottage telling us that he would be here on Thursday. I’m upset that they’re waiting that long to get here.
As soon as I got home I started working on the Electric Step problem. I figured it was probably something simple, and in the end it was. I’ve worked on the step before and it always came down to loose wiring. I think I caused the problem myself. When I checked the wiring underneath I had a connection that was wired together with no cap on the connection. Apparently it corroded just enough to lose contact. I clipped, stripped and rewound the wires and put a cap on them and the step worked just fine.
We also got a pretty good chance to assess the damage to the roof from the separation of the cap. Sharon took some pictures of the damage and the skylight in the bathroom is also broken to pieces.
We went to the pool early today and stayed late. We had a fine group of floaters in our circle today. That was probably the reason we stayed so late. That and the fact that Sharon had made Sloppy Joe’s for us yesterday and only needed to make the potato salad to finish off the supper meal. We had a beautiful simple meal tonight with our Sloppy Joe’s, pickles, peppers, garlic stuffed olives and potato salad.
We finished off the night, and a long day with re-runs on the TV. Why they’re playing re-runs again at this time of the year is beyond me. But we stayed up watching them anyway until about 11. I hope we both can sleep after this stressful day.

We awoke to another bright sunshiny day today and I wasn’t complaining. With the roof still partially uncovered not having the threat of rain was a good thing. I still haven’t done anything to seal the roof but I want the adjuster to see it the way it is. I don’t know if there is anything I can do except cover it with plastic and duct tape.
Sharon got up this morning sporting the croupy cough she had a couple of months ago at home. It seems this allergy crap is just going back and forth between us. She went down for a nap just before we left for the VFW.
It was also Taco Wednesday today and we’d be going with Phil and Joyce. It was our turn to drive and we picked them up at about noon and headed over to the VFW. The parking lot was busy so we’ll just have to wait to see what it’s like inside.
And in fact, the absence of Canadians was noticeable today as we could have seated ourselves almost wherever we wanted. We sat at the first booth in the inside dining room.
After lunch we came home and Sharon went down for another nap. She informed me that she was going to the pool this afternoon when she got up. She got up about 2:30 and that was still plenty of time for the pool. We went over to the man-made pond and all of our friends were there. We stayed til about 4:30.
We were fending for ourselves for Dinner tonight since Sharon didn’t feel like eating at all. Luckily for me we still had leftover Sloppy Joe’s and Potato Salad. Sharon opted for a bowl of cereal for the night.
She went right back down into bed for the night after catching a couple of shows on the Telly. By 10 o’clock I ran out of stuff to watch so I called it a night also.

It’s finally arrived. The day when our insurance adjuster would be here to assess We’ve checked the weather and it’s supposed to be rain free for about the next 10 days, which is a good thing if it holds.
We went out for Breakfast this morning with Terry and JoAnne to the Sunshine Café in Cathedral City. We like that little café because the wait staff is always so friendly. We had a good Breakfast and about an hours worth of conversation.
We left and came home to make sure we were here when the adjuster arrived. He had called this morning just before we left for Breakfast and said he’d be here by 11. And true to his phone call he rolled in about 2 minutes to 11. He was very thorough and by the time he left the last thing he said was that the roof might not be covered because he noted an intrusion of water and some damage from it. We are just hoping that a previous leak from a skylight doesn’t affect the claim.
We went to the pool this afternoon but only a handful of people we knew were there. We arrived there about the same time as Phil and Joyce who had gone to Olive Garden today to have lunch.
By the time we got home Sharon didn’t feel like cooking today so we went up to the corner to the All Star Burger and had Supper. We both had a burger and they were very good. We had heard from Henry and Arlene LeDuc, friends from Canada, that the food there was very good.
After we got home we picked up Phil and Joyce and went to the Upper Clubhouse for the Card Bingo. We’ve been going lately with them. I managed to win another $5.70 tonight so our Grand Total winnings come to $5.70 considering it costs us $4 just to play. We were ahead by $4 last time and $1.70 this time.
We got home just in time to catch a couple of shows on the boob tube. It was all original programming which absolutely amazes me. How they determine whether we watch re-runs or not in the middle of the season is very confusing. We were both exhausted by the time 10 rolled around.

As soon as Sharon got up today I knew this was not going to be a good day for her. She had a couple of pieces of toast and then headed back to the bed. The next time I saw her it was noon and she was only up long enough to have a little something to eat and she disappeared again. She was not having a good day for sure.
This afternoon I headed over to the pool by myself. Everybody asked how Sharon was doing and since I hadn’t seen her most of the day I only said how she had been functioning so far today. I stayed at the pool until Suppertime and then I ambled back home. Needless to say I was cooking for myself tonight for Dinner. Luckily we still had some leftover Sloppy Joes and Potato Salad. It didn’t take long for me to get that ready for myself.
About this time Sharon made another appearance. She didn’t feel like anything to eat even if I made it for her, so I stopped offering. She stayed up this time for the rest of the night. We watched TV for the night trying to decided if we were watching re-runs or not. It only lasted until 10 tonight and then we both headed for the feathers.

Sharon was not feeling up to snuff today so she opted out of Breakfast at Two Springs RV Resort. In fact she informed me that today was the day she would go to Urgent Care to see if they could help her. She also told me that she was in no hurry and after Breakfast would be time enough to go.
I went for breakfast with Phil and Joyce and in fact it was their “turn” to drive. When we arrived, the parking lot was not full, and in fact we had no trouble finding a spot. When we got inside we noticed a remarkable reduction in the number of people present for the Breakfast. There were 3 full tables that were empty, plus many individual seats at other tables. Each table facilitates at least 8 people. The fact that the Canadians are going home was just verified this morning. The Breakfast however was just as good as ever.
We took a round-a-bout to get home since Phil wanted to stop at the store and pick up bananas on the way. It only took a couple of extra minutes, but I was somewhat irritated since he knew I was taking Sharon to see the doctor this morning.
Sharon was ready as soon as I got home so we piled in the car and headed over to Palm Springs. The building at Urgent Care was a beautiful structure. It was new but that’s a relative term defined by the architect who designed it. It could have been built anytime in the last 10 years.
We waited for about an hour and a half for Sharon to be called in, but we didn’t think that was a long time. They had her inside for about another hour and a half. They put her through some breathing therapy and chest x-rays and called in a couple of prescriptions. The final diagnosis was that she has Viral Pneumonia. We were wondering if she ever got over the sickness she had before.
Our first stop after the doctor was to Stater Brothers for some groceries and then to McDonald’s for a quick burger.
We went to the Pharmacy only to find it closed for the next 20 minutes so we sat in the parking lot and waited. By 2:30 they were open again and we picked up the scripts and then headed home.
It was time for the pool when we got home and I got ready to go over. Everybody wanted to know how Sharon was doing and I gave my report to the pool folks. I stayed at the pool until about 5 and Sharon napped while I was gone.
By the time I got home she really wasn’t feeling any better than she had when I left. I’m sure it’ll take a couple of days for the meds to kick in.
We acquired our positions for the Telly tonight and Sharon actually hung in there until 10 o’clock. I think she stayed up so that she would sleep better tonight.

Another nice day today for me and not so much for Sharon. The meds she’s taking haven’t really kicked in yet. I am hoping that tomorrow will be the magic day. She was actually up and eating a couple of times today so the near future is optimistic.
I went next door and got a ladder so I could take some pictures of the roof damage today. I can’t get on the roof with my folding attic ladder that I carry in a compartment. The neighbor’s extension was long enough to get up to the right height for the pictures. It took me a good hour or so by the time I was done.
For the rest of the morning I tried to Google a repair shop that would handle the type of repair that we required. With today being Sunday there wasn’t much open for research.
By the afternoon I was ready for the pool and it was certainly warm enough to hit the water. Unfortunately the pool was really too warm today. When I left Sharon she was headed back to bed where she’s been over the past 3 days. I stayed at the pool til around 4:30 leaving her with peace and quiet.
By the time I got home she was ready to wake up and get on with her day. She at least, sat in her rocker watching TV. That was a good move compared to the last few days.
We didn’t do anything earthshaking tonight except watch a couple of dramas on the Telly. Sunday is usually a lousy night for TV. We stayed up until 10 before we caved.
