Today was a “move” day for us. We’ll be taking off this morning headed for Yuma. It’ll take us a few hours to get down there and we’ll lose an hour on the way,
Our first stop was in Coachella at Carl’s Jr. After we came out we missed our turn and decided to head toward Quartzsite instead of down past the Salton Sea.
I was feeling pretty miserable all the way to Yuma and as soon as we got in and settled we headed out for Urgent Care at the Foothills.
We spent the next 3 hours waiting to be served. We actually thought it was pretty quick since I was a walk-in. Getting the prescriptions was a hassle since we had to wait for two hours for the Pharmacy which was right next door.
We decided to kill some time by going to Denny’s for Dinner. Sharon hadn’t eaten anything since 10 o’clock this morning and she was starving. So we went for Dinner and then picked up the prescriptions afterward.
By the time we got home it was well after 8 o’clock and pitch black outside. We managed to scavenge a few programs on the TV and then went to bed.
I spent the night in my recliner for most of the night. Every time I tried to lie down the coughing would start again. I figured it was better for only one of us to lose the night’s sleep.

Surprisingly I woke up this morning pretty refreshed even though I only had naps all night. We both woke up to wind that was trying to take our awnings apart. If it gets much worse we’ll have to bring the slides in.
I wasn’t feeling any better today so I guess this is going to be another one of those days that we’ll just sit around.
Sharon opted out of her walk today because of the wind so I guess she’ll be stranded at home just like me.
The wind was so bad that it was almost impossible to watch TV this afternoon. The dish was flopping and waving in the wind like mad. I’m hoping it’ll die down before tonight so we can enjoy our shows tonight.
I worked on the Newsletter almost exclusively today since I didn’t have any TV to distract me all day. I listened to Rush on the radio for entertainment.
By the time Supper rolled around I had a good start on the Letter for this month.
We had Meatball Sandwiches for Supper tonight. I had already eaten the leftover Spaghetti for lunch today. It was very nummy, and so were the sandwiches.
As expected, the wind started to die down enough for TV tonight. At Jeopardy time it was still blowing however. The program recorded with many skips and we didn’t know if we had the right answers or not.
It died down a little later on and we had a normal watching night after all. When we finally went to bed I tried the bedroom and made it til about 5 AM before I had to get up. I finally just gave up and came out to my friend, the recliner.

I didn’t have a much better night last night but I stayed in bed until 5 AM before I coughed myself up again. This is getting to be very old very quickly. I find myself napping during the day without even trying, to catch up on the sleep I’m losing at night.
It turned out to be a lovely day today and our plan was to meet an old friend of ours at Burgers and Beer in town. He always suggests that we meet there so we’ve been there several times on our visits to Yuma.
Sharon decided that she was also going to cash-in on a nap today before we went for lunch. So she disappeared into the bedroom about 10 o’clock and woke up when I was taking a shower at noon. What a life this girl has.
We left for Burgers and Beer about 12:30 in order to make it there on time. Our campground is a considerable distance from town so we needed extra time to drive there. On the way over we got a call from Clay saying they would be about 10 minutes late cause his girlfriend Ilene was working.
We arrived right on time and were directed to a table near the back of the room. Sure to his word, Clay and Ilene arrived about 10 minutes later. We had never met Ilene before but she seemed like a very pleasant person. She was a short, attractive, and very personable. We sat for a couple of hours and had a very good catch-up conversation. We basically hadn’t seen Clay for 3 years except for a brief visit 2 years ago. The food was excellent and after we finished, Clay picked up the check. We thanked him and headed for the cars. We had mentioned that we’ll still be here through Sunday, but we’ll be busy on Saturday.
We made a quick stop at the grocery store for a couple of items before we came back home.
After we got back I installed the Oil cap that I purchased for the motorhome and Sharon took off with the laundry and would be gone for a couple of hours.
I established position in front of the TV and waited for the Mrs. To get home. Prime time started just as she drove into the site so I waited with the remote in hand for her to come inside.
We stayed up until 11 tonight before we both headed for bed. I started out in the bedroom tonight but only made it to 3 AM before I had to get up.

Another lovely day in Yuma was in store for us today. We got a leisurely start this morning but we had a plan for the day. We would stay home til about 12:30 and then go to the Mi Rancho Restaurant on 4th Avenue for lunch. It’s been our favorite Mexican Restaurant since we were steered onto it by Roy Parent from Hale, Michigan, who we see every year at Catalina.
So we left home around 12:30, and it took a few minutes to find the place again, and we arrived at 1 PM and the parking lot was packed. As we got inside it didn’t seem as crowded as it appeared in the parking lot. We ordered our food and the restaurant did not disappoint. The food is a little pricey for Mexican but the volume makes up for the difference. And when you figure you can make two meals out of your entree, the price is cut in half, so an $11 meal turns into $5.50, a deal in anyone’s Mexican place. Besides the food is absolutely excellent. I usually order the Shredded Beef Chimichanga and Sharon got a Combo Plate. (Tamale,Taco, Enchilada)
After lunch we made a quick stop at Fry’s just down the street and picked up a few goodies for the next couple of days. Sharon was in the store for about a half hour while I waited in the car. When she was done we headed out in the car back home to Yuma Lakes.
The afternoon was very warm and our air was running while we were gone and it was still warm in the motorhome. We fired up the second air and it only took a few minutes to finally cool it down to a more normal temp.
We finished off the rest of the afternoon and the night with our favorites on the Telly. We had several shows on tonight that we always watch. We even taped a bunch of stuff that we couldn’t watch until later on or tomorrow. We were up until 10:45 tonight before we finally caved. I decided that tonight might be the night that I could stay in bed all night for a change.

I was right when I suspected that I could stay in bed all night last night. I did not suspect that I’d be there until the Sun woke me up at 8:40. Sharon was no better as she stayed in bed until I got up. I hadn’t slept that late in the morning since I retired 20 years ago.
After Breakfast we just sat around and relaxed this morning and I felt like I had been rode hard and put away wet. I must have been knocked out last night from lack of sleep. Sitting around doing nothing was going to be very attractive for me today.
By about noon, Sharon announced her plan to me. We would be going to LaMesa RV to look at motorhomes. We’ve been talking about downsizing for a couple of years now and she wanted to visit LaMesa to see what was available.
We were on the road by 1:30 headed over to LaMesa RV. Unfortunately the unit that we were looking for, there was only one on the lot. So our trip to LaMesa only took about a half hour and we were on our way back home again. It was quite disappointing since Sharon was finding units on the Internet that we would have been interested in looking at.
After we got back home we decided that we wanted to go to Red Lobster tonight and have Dinner. We always hear about the specials on TV that are usually over by the time we leave home in the Fall. But this year the specials were still in full swing.
We got a call from Dennis and Mary Ceshker saying they were done visiting and if we wanted to, we could stop over to their motel. Sharon explained about our Dinner plans and told them if we felt like it we’d stop over afterward.
We left almost immediately for town and Red Lobster. When we got there the place was mobbed. The parking area where the restaurant is was also crowded to say the least. And we enjoyed our Dinner together very much. We had a 35 minute wait but the delay was worth it. Our lobster Dinners were very good and I absolutely love the Cheese Biscuits that they serve with the meal.
We called the Ceshkers after we were done eating but we really didn’t feel very conversational afterwards, so we just went back home for the night. We’ll see them in the morning when we go to the Yuma Marketplace.
We went back home and just sat and watched TV for the rest of the night. We had some good shows on tonight and it was easy to make it to 11.

We awoke to a lovely morning and perfect for shopping. Dennis and Mary stopped by about 9:30 and we sat and talked to catch-up for awhile. About 10:30 we got on the road for the Marketplace. We were camped only about 10 minutes from the market.
We were disappointed in the final size of the marketplace. It has been shrinking over the years and now I think it’s as small as it’s ever been. We haven’t been there for two years and I think it’s even smaller now than it was then. It has always been a favorite place for us to shop in the winter. I buy most of my tools here and in Quartzsite and now I wonder where I’ll go for that. Oh well, I’ll find something somewhere.
We came back to the campground and sat and talked for the rest of the afternoon. We had a couple of beverages and decided where we would go for Dinner tonight. Our final decision turned out to be a trip to Burgers and Beer.
After we made up our minds we sat around waiting for an optimal time to take off for the bar. Last night when we went to Red Lobster we had a ton of people to wait for and almost an impossibility to find a parking space. We were hoping for a different outcome tonight.
As we left for Dinner it was about 4:30 and we were headed toward town. We passed by the major restaurants in the Yuma Palms Mall and they all had major lines outside waiting to get in. We were still hoping that Burgers and Beer was not that bad.
We arrived at B & B and managed to get a table even though the place was quite busy. At least we didn’t have to sit and wait.
After we finished up we said our good-byes and came back to the campground for the night. There really was nothing on the tube so we watched Lock-up most of the night. We still hung in there until 11.

We were off this morning to one of our favorite places to have Breakfast, Golden Corral. We had planned this all week but this was our first chance to actually carry it out. We had to go early enough so that I’d be back home in time for Sharon to still go to church.
We managed it quite well since we both had Breakfast and she still made it to church. She was a couple of minutes late but so were the 20 other people that walked in with her. Apparently promptness is not a virtue here.
By the time she got home I was watching the Atlanta 500 Nascar Race on TV. I had already caught up on my Sunday political shows and was just relaxing.
Tomorrow we’ll have to move back to Desert Hot Springs so I got my dumping chores done also while she was gone. We picked up all our chairs and tables yesterday after we got back from Dinner in town with the Ceshkers.
We just relaxed for most of the day today and when Suppertime came around Sharon whipped a pizza in the oven. It was a little spicy but very good. I’m surprised that Sharon never complained about the heat. It was hot enough for me to notice.
Tonight we sat and relished the Telly for 4 hours. We had done everything we had previously planned to do while we were here and it was time to sit and vegitate.
We had a couple of new shows on tonight so we’ll see how they turn out. Usually Sundays are very poor for any entertainment of value. Oh well, we’ll just have to wait before we judge them.
