Today was going to be another moving day for us.  We’re only moving about a half mile down the road back to Catalina Spa, but it keeps us on our toes.  One of the handicap sites near the pool was empty so we pulled into that.  I’ve never parked in a  handicap site in this park before, but they are the most level sites. Besides we’ll only be here for two weeks and then we’ll be off to Yuma.  It’s time to make use of my handicap plates when it benefits me.
We had to make a trip into town when we were all checked in and settled.  Sharon had some Valentines cards with money to mail out today so they will get them on time.  I also suggested that we stop at Mickey D’s for lunch as long as we were there anyway.  The McDonald’s in Desert Hot Springs is an amazing place.  You can find the biggest collection of weirdos in the whole valley there.  With the possible exception of the Street Fair in Palm Springs on Thursday nights, this is the only place that we’ve found where they gather.  It’s also the smallest McDonalds that we’ve ever been in.
By the time we got home, Sharon’s cold had completely overtaken her and she went directly to bed.  Do not pass go, and do not collect $200.  I decided to stay home and not go to the pool today.  It was warm in the motorhome even with the air running today.
We were fending for ourselves for Supper tonight because of the late lunch.  I had a leftover pasty and Sharon opted for a bowl of cereal.  We assumed our usual positions for the night and the DVR was running to record programs.  It amazes me that the networks will cram all their shows together during the week and have nothing to offer on the weekends when there’s absolutely nothing on.  We could only find enough to watch and record to make it to 10:15 tonight.  Bed was welcome respite from the day today.

We were greeted this morning with what looked like another lovely day that was going to warm up nicely by this afternoon.
We were off to the Cottage 2 this morning for our usual Breakfast in town.  Henry and Arlene picked us up this morning and we whistled into town.  The restaurant was relatively empty today.  Boy, you can just never figure if this place is going to be busy or not.  Today it was empty, and tomorrow it’ll be splitting at the seams.  The Breakfast was excellent again today and that was all that mattered.
We had to make a quick stop at K-Mart on the way home and Henry was more than willing to stop.  There was a truck with an alarm, in the next parking space,  that kept going off, while Sharon was in the store.  By the time she came out she told us that the donation collector standing in front of the store said it had been doing that all morning.
We came back home and Sharon hit the rack again trying to break the cold or allergies whatever was bothering her.  She finally rose from her slumber at around 1 o’clock and was willing to go to the pool today.  So we took off for a couple of hours and the pool was empty today also.  It’s making me wonder if people are trying to avoid us or what.  After about 20 minutes the Browns and Parents showed up and then the rest of the pool started to fill.  It was certainly hot enough today for people to be in the pool.
We came back home, but we were making our own meals tonight for Supper, since Sharon couldn’t cook from the bedroom.  I reheated a couple of Bratwurst and had them for Supper and Sharon had her usual bowl of cereal.  Neither of us suffered a bit by not having a sit-down meal.
Tonight on TV we had several of our usual shows, and they kept us up to 11 and our bewitching hour.  So Sharon went to bed and I told her I’d “bewitch” her in a couple of minutes.

We were greeted with another lovely day today.  The sun was shining and no wind to speak of.  This was going to be another “good” day.
It was also Taco Wednesday today and we will go with Henry and Arlene.  We decided that we’d pick them up today.  This is their last week in Desert Hot Springs and they’re slated to leave this Sunday.  They’ll slowly head back home to Alberta, Canada.
We picked them up at noon and made the short trip to the VFW.  It was quite plain to see, when we got there, that the Canadian migration has started.  We easily found a place to sit down today in the “outside” dining room, even though the place was crowded.
I had decided after last week’s Tacos that I was going to taper off on the beer for myself.  I held true to that self-promise today and only had a couple of glasses.  We left the VFW around 2 and made it back home in plenty of time to go to the pool today.
The pool was relatively empty today, when we first arrived, but it seemed to fill up after that.  We hung around til about 4:30 this afternoon which is relatively late for us.  We didn’t seem to be anxious, at all, to head for home.
Sharon would whip up a couple of burgers for us for Supper tonight.  Later on we would be eating oranges for a snack.  Sharon bought a bag of oranges the other day and they’re absolutely delicious.  I’ve mentioned that they are some of the sweetest oranges that I’ve ever eaten.  I’m not usually a person that snacks on oranges, but the bag came with 32 oranges for $8.  We’ve been munching on them ever since.
We settled into our usual positions for the night to watch the Telly.  We had enough shows on that we recorded at two different times. (east/west) That programming comes in very handy at times.  There’s also a bunch of new shows coming on in the mid-season, so the DVR will be working overtime shortly.  We stayed up until 11 tonight which is unusual for a Taco Wednesday.  We’re usually tired early from drinking beer.

Another nice day was on the horizon this morning.  No wind and the Sun is making an appearance all day.  It’s been a long time since so many nice days have been strung together since we’ve been coming here, over the past 17 years.  I’m not complaining but only making an observation.  I literally have no problem with the nice weather we’ve been having.
We had nothing to do today except sit around home in the air conditioning and watch some tube.  There was no point in going outside in the heat if you didn’t have a good reason to be there.
We made an early trip to the pool this afternoon after our Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwich lunch.  We were pretty much by ourselves in the pool with strangers until a couple of friends showed up.  The Browns and Parents were in absentia today but a couple of people showed up that we knew including Francine and Regent who I haven’t seen for three years.  It was nice to see that they’re still coming to Catalina.
We had to leave the pool early this afternoon and that was part of the reason that we went early today.  We would be picking up Henry and Arlene tonight for Dinner at Applebee’s.  With them leaving on Sunday this will be our last Dinner with them until next year, or whenever.
We picked them up at 5 and headed over to the restaurant.  When we got there we couldn’t find a decent place to park because of the number of cars, but they managed to take us to a table immediately upon entering.  We thought we’d have to wait for awhile, but not so.  We each had a couple of Long Island Iced Teas while we waited for our Dinners.  The food, as usual, was very good and we also had a good time.
After Dinner we came home to the mobile theater and started watching our taped shows.  It was Thursday today but we had other plans so we didn’t make it to Card  Bingo tonight.  But we settled in front of the TV and played the taped shows.  We were up until 10:30 tonight but we still had 2 one hour shows that we’ll have to watch sometime tomorrow.  That DVR keeps you from being tied down on the nights your favorite shows are on.

Another sparkling day was awaiting us this morning.  The Sun was out and it was warm early.
We needed to do a little shopping this morning and as long as we were in town we’d stop at Carl’s Jr. for their new Fish Sandwich.  We always enjoy going to Carl’s Jr because of the clientele that frequents the place.  We always find an interesting situation while we’re there.  Today they had to throw a couple out of the restaurant for something they were doing in the bathroom.  We don’t know exactly what, but they may have been washing their clothes.  After they came out, the toilet overflowed, and we wondered if they lost a piece of clothing down there.  We always have a story to tell about what happened or the strange persons we’ve seen at Carl’s Jr and at
McDonald’s.  It’s almost like a trip downtown to Palm Springs.
After our lunch we stopped over to Von’s in the same parking lot and did our shopping for groceries.  We also picked up our Valentine’s Cards for each other and I picked up a mini-selection of Ferraro Rocher chocolates for the Mrs.
We came back home and went to the pool almost immediately for the rest of the afternoon.  The pool was nice but almost too warm for a day like today.  But we stayed til almost suppertime today.
Having had a late lunch today neither of us was very hungry for Supper.  Sharon whipped up a small batch of Ground Pickle and Bologna anyway.  We would have sandwiches tonight when we got hungry.
We settled in front of the TV for the night and seemed to have plenty to keep us busy for the entire night.  We were up until about 10:45 until we watched our last show.  I was finally getting sick with my annual allergies before I hit the hay.  I took a double dose of allergy medicine before we headed for the hay.

We were up and atem’ this morning as we headed out to Two Springs for our usual Buffet Breakfast.  This morning will be challenge since we expect about 7000 bikers to pass by our campground on their annual charity run.  I was not feeling very chipper this morning as I think I will be suffering with allergies for the next few days.
We picked up Henry and Arlene on our way and we will meet Terry and JoAnne there.  It was quite busy this morning but not as bad as last week.  Terry an JoAnne were already there and saving us our seats.
On the way home we ran into the cyclists.  There were hundreds of them wanting to take up the same road that we wanted.
By the time we got home I was feeling pretty under the weather.  I think I’m feeling the allergies that Sharon was feeling last week.  We never get sick at the same time which means the flowers that affect us obviously bloom at different times.
I spent the rest of the day in my recliner, taking allergy pills, and sleeping them off.  By Suppertime I was really feeling rotten.  Although the allergy pills were really holding my condition at bay, I was still all stuffed up and coughing.  I didn’t feel like having anything for Supper tonight so I just sat in my recliner and watched TV.
I didn’t feel much like doing anything tonight so sitting in front of the TV for the night wasn’t much of a stretch.  We did, however, stay up until 10:30 before calling it a night.

Sunday, February 15, 2015

I was up early this morning but only because I had a miserable night.  I was up hacking, choking and coughing most of the night.  And of course I kept Sharon up while I was doing it.
I would be staying close to the medication bottle and my recliner for most of the day today.
Sharon on the other hand was off to church as soon as she got ready.  I had gotten up early enough to tape my Sunday morning shows.  As soon as she left I tuned into the political world via my Sunday shows.  There was nothing earthshaking on any one of them.
When Sharon got home, I was sleeping in my recliner, and she reported that she couldn’t find a thing she was looking for at K-Mart.  And the ladies were not at the church selling Tamales either.  This was not going to be a good day.
By this afternoon I still wasn’t feeling up to par so Sharon took off to the pool without me.  She was only gone for about an hour and I slept the entire time.
By the time she got back from the pool she was trying to get me to eat something but I wasn’t feeling up to that either.  I finally got something down about 6 o’clock tonight.  By the time we sat down to TV tonight I was feeling much better.
We were content to just sit and watch the tube tonight, unfortunately there really wasn’t much on to watch.  Typical Sunday fare, and surf, surf, surf.
We managed to entertain ourselves until 10:30 however before we gave it up for the sleep chamber.
