We were on schedule to move to another campground this morning.  We weren’t in a hurry and got rolling about 10:30 this morning for our half mile trip down the road.  It took us about 5 minutes to get from Catalina to Caliente Springs RV Resort.  We spent the next hour getting ourselves settled into our site.
Our first task was to check and see if we could find an easy way into the pool area or if I would have to take my scooter to get in.  We drove around the pool and found a couple of easy ways to get in and we were quite satisfied that they all would not be tied up at the time we went to the pool this afternoon.
After lunch we got in the car and headed over to the pool.  As expected we found an empty parking space very close to the pool area.  The pool was a very interesting design in which the two pools were interlocking with passageways, in the pool, to get between the differing temperature ponds.  We stayed for a couple of hours but then we had to get out because we promised Henry and Arlene we’d come over for a Happy Hour today.
We arrived at Henry and Arlene’s about 4 and sat around until dark before we headed out for Supper tonight.  It would be the 5 of us including Leona, Arlene’s daughter.  We went to the El Matador for Mexican tonight.  The food was great and we had a ton of it, and the only trouble was the price of beer.  It was $4.75 a bottle.  I’m glad I wasn’t drinking.
After Dinner we came home and camped out in front of the TV.  While I hadn’t taped anything for later watching, I got busy on the second showings of everything.  We hung in there until 11 before we folded up our tent and went to the padded room.

We were off to the Cottage 2 this morning with Henry and Arlene and Leona to get our usual fine Breakfast for a wonderful price.  We were to meet them there this morning instead of picking them up.  And meet them there, we did, and we all had a Breakfast that was very good.
After getting home, I spent the next 3 phone calls and about 50 minutes on the phone with DirecTV.  We wanted to send back the receiver that they sent us in December.  For some reason the first two people I talked to didn’t have a clue as to what they were doing as they put me on hold for over 15 minutes trying to figure out what to do.  Their final solution was to send me an empty box to put the receiver in and ship it back.  I suggested they send me a shipping label cause I still had the original box.  No they insisted on the empty box.
After lunch, which we didn’t eat, we went to the pool again today.  There were many more people in the water today and even more when they started their water volleyball games.  We stayed for a couple of hours and then came back home in time for Supper.
Sharon was making Burgers tonight for Supper.  She also made homemade fries to go along with them.  We had leftover Cole Slaw from KFC that finished off the meal and it was all very good.
We went to the “home theater” and picked out our chairs for the night, but they seemed to be the same ones we’ve been using since December when we left home.  We had plenty to watch tonight but it only took us to 10:15 tonight.  We had to dip into a pre-recorded ditty to get us to 10:30.  We were glad to get there and also glad to get to bed.

It was a glorious day this morning and expected to warm up to at least the 80's by this afternoon.  It also happens to be Taco Wednesday and we’ll go to the VFW for beer and tacos this afternoon.
It was also cleaning day, which Sharon announced, and she tidied up the hacienda this morning.  It took her all of a half hour to get it done.  I finished up the pictures I was working on and now I only have to burn them to a disc.
By the time we got this far it was time to go to the VFW.  We met Henry, Arlene and Leona at the clubhouse and they were already at a table when we got there.  We stayed til about 3 or so and on the way home we both decided that we weren’t going to the pool, even though it was simply beautiful out today.
After we got home we were both napping in our respective places.  Me in my recliner, and her in bed.  We both awoke before it got dark but neither of us was hungry for Supper at that time.  We would both fend for ourselves later on.
We assumed our positions in the mobile theater for the night, and had plenty of new shows to watch.  We managed to get it all watched tonight but it took us until 11 to get it all done.  We were both still tired from our naps, that didn’t solve much, except giving our eyes a rest.

We awoke to another spectacular day today.  The temp would go well into the 80's again.
After Breakfast Sharon took off with the laundry and returned about 11:30 and then left for town to do some grocery shopping.
I finished up my Journal entry and then I burned our pictures to a disc.  I haven’t watched any of the discs I’ve burned this year so I’m hoping they were all successful.
By the time Sharon got done with all her chores and we ate lunch it was time to go to the pool.  We just barely found a parking place by the pool today and had to park a little further away, but still within walking distance.  We stayed for a couple of hours before we came back home.
Tonight we would be having Fried Chicken and homemade potato salad for Supper.  Sharon picked up some Fried Chicken when she was at the store today and then just reheated it for our Dinner.  She did whip up the potato salad, however, and it was much better than the chicken.
After Dinner tonight the DVR was smokin’ trying to keep up with the TV offerings.  It was a good thing we had the East/West networks so we could catch it all.  There was a new show on tonight called “Allegiance” that was very good.  And we had several regulars on, that we always watch, every week.
We went to bed early tonight before we got all caught up on our DVR recordings.  Timewise it was our usual time about 10:45 but we still had stuff to watch on the DVR.
Oh well, we’ll catch up tomorrow.

Friday, February 6, 2015

This was an actual “do nothing” day.  We had nothing to do, and nowhere to go, and no place to be.
Sharon was so bored that she went for a short walk over to the clubhouse looking for the weekly papers and pamphlets.
I finished up the Newsletter and got it printed after having a bunch of trouble with my printer.  I also found out today that I had taken the wrong envelope of CD Labels along this year.  I had intended to print the labels for the picture CD’s at the same time I printed the Newsletter.  So much for that plan, at least for today.  I’ll have to make a trip to Best Buy to pick up some more labels and a ream of paper while I’m at it.
We stayed home from the pool this afternoon and I made my famous Tuna Fish Casserole for Dinner tonight.  Sharon heated up some cauliflower and made a lettuce salad to go along with it.  It turned out pretty good.  It may again be on our menu in the future.
We assumed our usual positions for the night’s entertainment tonight.  We had plenty of televised features to enjoy for the evening.  I even had the DVR smoking for awhile.  We stayed up until 11 before we caught up on everything.  But we were also ready to smooth out the hay beds when we got there.

We were up this morning and off to one of our favorite places.  Henry and Arlene offered to pick us up this morning but we decided to drive ourselves.  We were headed down the road to Two Springs RV Resort and their Buffet Breakfast.  The place is starting to fill up with many people from Catalina and we recognize several of them.  The word is officially out and its now very busy during breakfast.  We asked and they had 147 people this morning to eat.  That number is normally around 100.  The cooks kept up with the food very nicely today and there was plenty of it.
We met Terry and JoAnne Bertamini and a couple of their friends this morning.  Brad and Jeanne had come down from Calgary to visit for a couple of weeks.  They were actually saving seats for us when we got there.  It was fortunate that they were there because we wouldn’t have had anywhere to sit.
On the way home we stopped at a rummage sale on Dillon Road that Sharon’s been meaning to stop at for awhile now.  The poor thing couldn’t find a single thing she couldn’t live without.  I stayed in the car and wasn’t interested in even browsing.  It looked like mostly junk to me.
By the time we got home Sharon had already decided we were going to have Pasties for Supper.  Pasties are Ground Beef, Potatoes and Onions, salt and pepper all rolled up in a crust and baked in the oven.  They were made by my father in his Bakery many years ago.  And they’re still as good as ever.
We didn’t make it to the pool this afternoon as Sharon was making our pasties for Supper.
After she got done we took off for Office Max to pick up some supplies and found the place closed up and empty.  In fact we had a hard time finding the building and we finally gave up.  We put the location for Office Depot into the GPS and took off for there.  We found it easily even though we made a quick stop at Staples on the way.  Staples had 20 feet of shelves with labels on them but no Avery labels for CD’s.  Go figure.  When we finally located Office Depot I found exactly what I was looking for.
We drove through a sandstorm on the way over to Palm Springs and then again on the way home.  It was weird because the only place the sand was blowing was over I-10 and nothing a mile on either side.  But you could see the sand in the air all the way down the valley.
By the time we got back we ate our Supper and then settled in for our evening’s entertainment.  There wasn’t much to watch tonight but we muddled through until 11.

Sunday, February 8, 2015

We both slept late this morning and Sharon was rushing to make it to church on time.  She made it but it was quite the struggle.
While she was gone I printed up the labels for the “picture CD’s” that I had burned over the last couple of days.
I also listened to my Sunday political shows in the background while I printed.  By the time Sharon got back home I was expecting Tamales from the ladies at church.  No such luck today because she said she didn’t have any money to buy them.  Man, I would have expected a better reason than that.  She usually rifles money out of my wallet for the collection basket.
We had my leftover Tuna Casserole for lunch today and it was still good even though we heated it up in the microwave.  I’ve found that heating fish in the microwave makes it stink like fish.  But Tuna already has a strike against it cause it smells like fish anyway.
We both decided that on our last day here we would go to the pool for awhile.  We left the hacienda around 1:30 and the pool was almost overflowing when we got there.  The “warm” pool was crowded but the “cool” pool was just fine.  There’s only a couple of degrees difference between the two pools, but the cool one is actually more refreshing.
We came home to Bratwurst and Potato Salad for Supper tonight.  We also cracked into the jar of olives with the piece of garlic inserted into the olive.  They, along with a bunch of other stuff, were a gift from our daughter for Christmas this year.  We’re just now breaking into the goodies.
After Supper tonight we camped out in front of the TV again for a wonderful night of entertainment.  Well it didn’t happen cause this was Sunday, and Sunday sucks for TV.  We surfed around a bit and found enough to keep us awake at least.  Sharon caved about 10 and I hung in there until 11.
