Today started out as a ripper. The rain was falling in bucketfuls but managed to let up just as we exited the coach to start our day.
We were off this morning to continue our month-long search for the perfect restaurant for Breakfast. We still haven’t found it yet after about a half dozen places that we’ve been to. This morning we were going to Tacky Jack’s and check them out. It’s nice that all these restaurants are all within 2 miles of the campground. It irks the hell out of us to have to pay $1.75 for coffee which adds another $3 to the bill. It was kind of a hassle to get into the restaurant and as we entered and glanced at the menu I noticed the prices were not the best so far. We noticed the cheapest thing on the menu was a Breakfast Sandwich and we both ordered that. The sandwich was very good but it was only a sandwich on Texas Toast.
It was raining when we left this morning and it was still coming down pretty good when we left the restaurant. I guess it’s still not bad enough that the ground is squishy like a wet sponge all around our campsite. It doesn’t seem like the ground can soak up any more water, but it just keeps coming.
After we got home we both took a little nap for ourselves. There was nothing else to do with the rain coming in gushers. We were both hungry at lunchtime so we had a sandwich to hold us over.
By this afternoon I was raring to go and I finished up the Newsletter for this month. All I have to do now is customize the logo and then I can send it out. I sometimes get behind writing the thing, but this month I’m ahead of schedule.
We had another meal of Meatloaf tonight for Supper but this time it was fried along with potatoes and Creamed Corn. Sharon broke open a can of Green Beans for herself and afterward we just settled in for a night of TV watching again. Tonight was original programming so TV was a refreshing alternative to reruns. We made it until 11 tonight before we gave up the ghost.

We awoke this morning to frigid temperatures and icicles hanging from every horizontal protuberance in the campground. Our water hose was frozen and the roads were slick with water if not actually icy. We had intended to go to Mikee’s Seafood later for lunch and Corky stopped over to let us know that we should be cautious of the ice that’s on our outside steps. This is truly not what we expected when we decided to come to Alabama for the winter. If we wanted to experience the cold and snow we could have just stayed at home. Sharon was outside taking pictures of this fiasco like she had never seen ice before. I guess she just wanted to prove that it really was this cold here.
We picked up Corky and Deb around noon and headed over to Mikee’s Seafood. When we got there the parking lot was full which was an indication of what it was like inside. The place was full and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Sharon and I had a coupon that would give us one entree’ at regular price and the second was free if we bought 2 beverages. It actually didn’t work out any better than the combos that we got for half price on Tuesdays. I got Coconut Shrimp with Corn Fritters and a salad and Sharon got Crawfish Alfredo with a Salad. The food was absolutely delicious.
We got back home after lunch and the rain continued to fall. And it kept on for most of the day. We actually had a traffic jam out on the highway on our way home, apparently from the sand trucks taking care of the road. What we found interesting was that the sand they were spreading looked like Beach Sand. We just camped out for the afternoon, watching TV and listening to the rain on the roof. One of my favorite activities. Yeah right! We’re supposed to get more of this wonderful weather tomorrow.
Tonight was going to be the State of the Union Speech. I can’t think of another person I would rather listen to for an hour and be lied to every couple of minutes. It was tough but I made my way through it. It was actually a pleasure to go to bed tonight.

We woke up this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground and everything else. This weather has now gotten to the point of ridiculous. If we wanted to see snow this winter we would have stayed home.
We were tired of trying to find the perfect Breakfast place and decided to cook it ourselves this morning. We whipped up a Bacon, Egg, Hash Brown and Toast extravaganza this morning and it turned out to be just what we wanted. We’ve been driving all over town for something that we just provided for ourselves. Sometimes it’s just more fun to go out and have it all done for you.
The weather is actually too cold to enjoy doing anything outside so we’re relegated to the rocking chair and recliner to watch TV for the day. I’ve actually finished up the Newsletter for this month so the TV or reading is pretty much all that’s left, unless we want to go to the clubhouse.
Corky checked with us early today to see if we were still planning on going to the Elks tonight for Trivia. And of course we told him that we were. Anything to get out of the house was just fine with us.
Later on, Terry called Deb and told her there didn’t seem to be any action at the Elks Club. So I guess now the trivia for tonight will be cancelled. We were camped in front of the TV again for the afternoon, and it actually wasn’t that bad when you consider the alternative. (Going outside)
We had leftover Taco Loaf for Supper tonight. It actually tasted better than it did when we ate it the other night. Maybe we were both hungrier tonight.
After Supper we didn’t stray far from the TV. Sharon was knitting her baby hats and I was just entrenched in front of the tube. There isn’t much else unless we go somewhere and get away from the weather. We still managed to have enough to do to stay up until 11 tonight.

We got up this morning and everything was frozen. Water pump, water hose and sewer valve were all frozen. This did not start out to be a good day. It got frozen through my carelessness. I know how to keep the water running but I just didn’t do it hoping everything would be fine.
Sharon got up and was off to the shower across the street. She hadn’t been to the campground shower in several years. I got busy disconnecting things to let them thaw out. The temp outside was warming up quickly so I didn’t think that getting everything going again would take very long. It took about two hours before we were back in business again today.
While I was getting us unthawed Sharon went to Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries for the next few days. She was also going to stop at McD’s for our lunch on the way back. Except for one Breakfast we haven’t been to McDonald’s for the past two months.
By the time she got back from shopping our water was all working again and we were back in business for the day. And then the lunch Sharon bought at McD’s went down very well also. We were already planning on going to the American Legion tonight for their Fish Fry.
Even though the temperature only got into the high 30's today it seemed very warm outside perhaps because of the extreme cold that we’ve been experiencing. The sun was out all day today and it felt nice while I was sitting outside waiting for stuff to thaw.
We picked up Corky and Deb about 4:45 and headed off to the Legion for Supper tonight. The Dinner at the Legion is very good and a very reasonable price. I usually get the Shrimp Dinner and it’s only $7.50. Tonight Sharon got the Blackened Fish for the same price. We stayed tonight until the Line Dancing started and then we headed toward home.
We got home right at 7 and staked our claim in front of the tube. TV was pretty good tonight and kept me up until 11. Sharon not so much.

After our freeze up we were running low on LP Gas and we needed to refill our tank. We decided that today would be the day so we disconnected all our hoses and cords and dropped them on the ground. We only had to drive up to a building behind the office so it wasn’t much of an inconvenience. I can’t understand why they don’t have a truck that come in the park and delivers to the motorhomes here. Most of the RV’s that are parked in here are staying for at least a month or so, or for that matter most of the winter.
It didn’t take us long to get it filled and get back to our site. It was just a hassle to have to do it that way.
For the rest of the day we just got ourselves reattached and reset up for the day.
My computer made another visit to the computer guru today after he stopped to see if it was working. Everything was fine except I still couldn’t download my video. He took the computer back to his 5th wheel to see if he could find the problem.
Sharon whipped up a Pizza Casserole for Supper tonight. It was quite delicious and we had enough left over for lunches for the next couple of days.
We were content to just sit around in a nice warm motorhome tonight and watch some of our favorite shows. Last Man Standing and Blue Bloods were on tonight and they were original programming.

The weather looked very nice and the weatherman promised us a nice day all day today. The sun was shining and even the temp was balmy.
We were up and showered early this morning so we could go to the Craft Sale at the Clubhouse the morning. Sharon walked over and I took my scooter, thinking that if I took the garbage with me I could just about meet her there. I had a little trouble with the speed bumps cause I only had one hand to drive the scooter. She made it down there before I did but I did get there shortly after her. I spent about 90 seconds walking around the crafts and then I told Sharon I was going to check out the indoor pool. We’ve been here for a month but it’s been too cold to even bother going down there. I could have checked it out however, on one of the occasions that we were at the Clubhouse for Breakfast.
They also had vendors at the pavilion and we swung by there on the way home. Along with the half dozen cookies Sharon bought at the clubhouse she also purchased a couple of boxes of Girl Scout cookies at the Pavilion
When we got home we both had another helping of Pizza Casserole. Once it’s made and sitting in the refrigerator It’s almost impossible not to dig into it. Besides it’s one of my favorites.
After lunch I taped a bunch of shows from Modern Marvels And we watched them for the rest of the afternoon. By the time Supper rolled around we still had shows leftover. I ate Pizza Casserole again tonight and finished it up, while Sharon decided to have a sandwich.
We watched the Telly and a Jimmie Fallon Special for most of the night and then we switched over to a couple of hours of Lockup which took us to 11 and nitey night.
Sunday, February 2, 2014Super Bowl Sunday
I was up fairly early this morning and started to watch a show I had taped last night concerning the crumbling of America. It was a History Channel show that reported all the infrastructure that was falling apart. I guess the two Trillion extra dollars that we gave Obama in stimulus money didn’t do any good.
I got to watching my regular Sunday Shows and they all were talking about the Super Bowl today. I didn’t have to swear at the TV once. But the talk was boring after a while.
After lunch I got my computer back today. I tried to download the video while he was still here and it didn’t work. He tried to find a driver online but when he couldn’t, he took the camera with him and left again. I hope he can find a solution to my problem but at this point I’m not confident. I’ve had too many people look at the problem and fail a solution.
We had Patty Melts and Fries for Supper tonight. They were very good. By the time we got done with Supper the Super Bowl was starting. Although neither of us has any interest in this game we’ll probably watch part of it anyway. If anything we can just surf back and forth for the night. Well that didn’t happen. From the first snap that went past Peyton Manning’s head til the end of the game, we were glued to the set. We couldn’t believe that there was so many things that could go wrong for the Broncos.
We watched our regular shows after the game which kept us up and awake until 11 o’clock.
