I got up this morning and it looked like it was going to be another overcast day. This makes two in a row after one nice day.
Sharon was up and off to an exercise class this morning. She was gone for about an hour and came back home winded and worn out. We had planned on going out for Breakfast this morning, so she showered and we were off to Hazel’s for their buffet. We’ve been there a couple of times, but never had the Breakfast buffet yet. They had a very nice spread of goodies and even a couple of “southern” specialties. All of it was very good and we left very satisfied. I think we’ll have a had time staying away from there in the morning.
On the way home we decided to stop at the Dollar General store to return a tablecloth that Sharon had bought the other day. She “needed” something to put outside on the picnic table. Why she needed it, I’ll never know. We haven’t been out there more than a couple times since we’ve been here. There’s more need for an umbrella and a heater.
After we got home and sat around for about an hour before all of Hazel’s food went directly to our eyes. We both took a little nap this morning which carried us past lunch. That was a meal we certainly didn’t need today.
Sharon knitted for the afternoon and I just watched some tube. By later on we started getting hungry again and we decided to have Pea Soup and Toasted Cheese Sandwiches. It was a nice change of pace for today.
We had original programming on the tube all night tonight. It was really good to have something new to watch for a change. With all the crap and specials that have been on for the last month, the reruns were getting to be a drag. We only made it to 10:30 tonight before we called it quits for the night.

We had another overcast day to greet us as we prepared for the day today. This weather absolutely sucks and I’m not afraid to say it. It’s actually a little warmer out today but who knows when its going to start raining again.
My computer guru Ken stopped by again today and this time he was bringing my camcorder back. He actually got it downloading after searching for drivers on the internet. We hooked it up to my computer and sure enough my video was downloading. I was so happy I couldn’t thank him enough for his effort. I offered to pay him but he declined. This was the apparent END of a two-year struggle to begin editing my enormous cache of travel videos. I’ve actually done about 30 of them at home, but none since I’ve had this new program.
Sharon was planning on going grocery shopping this morning so I hurried up and got showered and dressed and we took off. She wanted to know if I wanted to stay home and start my videos but I was way too excited at this point.
We took off for Wal-Mart and couldn’t find a handicap parking place so I jumped out at the door and Sharon parked the car. I found a scooter in the score but it was barely moving and by the time we got done with shopping it was dead. It ran out of juice at the check-outs and I just left it there. Most of the scooters at Wal-Mart are junk because of the number of people who use them. I wish it was more convenient to use my scooter when I go somewhere.
We got back home and Corky was outside carving so I walked over. By this time the sun was out and it was quite nice. I told him about the good news with my videos and he showed me another 2 carvings that he had been working on. They were really taking shape and turning out very nicely. We were soon joined by Sharon and Debbie and then Joanne from next door. We sat around til about 4 when a breeze came up and it started getting chilly.
It was time to go inside and watch “The Five” anyway. Sharon was also getting ready to cook supper. She was planning on Stuffed Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy and Peas. It was very good and half of it was leftover for another day. I love it when we have good leftovers.
We camped out in front of the tube for the night and we were back to original programming again tonight. I hope the reruns are over now until the Summer. It’s almost time for the second half of the season to start and more new shows. We were up until 11 tonight before the entertainment ran out. And then we ran too.

Another overcast day today that hopefully would turn into a nice day, and it did later on. I got an e-mail from Corky today telling me that my scooter was making a high pitch squeal last night. I actually heard it this morning when I got up. I looked around inside and couldn’t find anything that was making the noise so I just sat in my recliner and opened the window. I knew it was coming from outside and I just let it at that. I didn’t know it was from me until I read the e-mail.
I got showered early today so I could go out and check it out this morning before we went out for lunch. I was out there checking it out for about 10 minutes when Corky stopped over and told me the squeal woke him up at 3AM this morning. He seems to hear everything that goes on in the vicinity. I plugged the charger back in again and waited for it to come up to full charge and there was nothing out of the ordinary that happened. So at this point I have no idea what happened.
We picked up Corky and Deb about noon today and headed up toward Big Daddy’s Grill. It was about 20 miles or so since it took us the better part of a half hour to get there. Big Daddy’s is supposed to have huge burgers for a very reasonable price. There was a couple of dozen, or so, of us from the campground that were shifting around and finding a place to sit when we first got there. We just plopped down at a table separate from the group but still in the vicinity. Sharon and I got a Philly Steak Sandwich, but Corky and Deb ordered burgers. And true to the story they were quite large for the price. Our sandwiches were very good and very filling. I also had Onion Rings and Sharon had Sweet Potato Fries. We shared. How cute.
After leaving Big Daddy’s we had decided to stop at Styx River Resort and see what it was like since we’ll be moving up there for a few days at the beginning of next month, before the Rally. According to Corky’s GPS it was another 16 miles from the restaurant. We managed to get there by driving every back road in southern Alabama. We were on the scenic tour. Our assessment of Styx River was good. It looked better than it looked several years ago when we were first there.
We turned and retreated toward home only stopping at McDonald’s for an ice cream treat on the way. When we got back home I downloaded my first video in over two years. Life was good again.
Needless to say we opted out of Supper tonight but I was on a snack tour tonight. Sometimes it’s just better to have a sandwich rather than dig into the goodies. It had been a long day and we were just content to sit and watch the tube tonight. Good programming kept us blissfully awake until 11 tonight, before we finally ceased to exist.

Another overcast day today and this one was accompanied by chilly temperatures. It was about 40 this morning when I got up and that wasn’t that early. I didn’t bother to go outside this morning, I know what cold feels like. I wish I could say that this is getting old, but it’s just like being at home at this time of the year.
I just got busy on my computer by taking care of the Journal and Expense Sheets and then working on my video that I was downloading onto it. I managed to get a 1989 vacation to the Black Hills 2/3 of the way downloaded. By the time I realized it, it was 2:30 in the afternoon, and It was almost time for us to go out for Dinner at the American Legion for fish night. I hadn’t really noticed it today but by the time we left at 4:30 for the Legion it was raining. It could have been raining all day for all I cared. It rains so much I don’t even notice anymore.
We picked up Corky and Deb and headed out to the Legion and by the time we got there it was nearly empty. Last week there was a huge crowd when we walked in the door. The crowd, such as it was, really didn’t show up until after five tonight. A lot of the usual people that sit at the Tennessee table were not in attendance tonight. Including Tennessee himself. We, however, proceeded to have another wonderful Dinner with some of the people who did show up. I had Shrimp again and Sharon had the Blackened fish. Excellent.
After we got home we played our usual game of Jeopardy and then settled in to watch the Olympic Preview for the night. They were running some Snowboarding and Team Figure Skating events tonight and we watched that after catching The Big Bang Theory first. We taped it so we didn’t have to watch commercials for the rest of the night. It took us right up to Sharon’s bedtime but I stayed up for another hour to watch Elementary before I went to bed at 11.

Rain again this morning. What else is new? Nothing! I don’t particularly care much anymore. I can now edit video all day if I choose to. But this morning the first thing on the agenda is Breakfast.
There was some confusion as to where we were going this morning, as we got out to the highway. We finally settled on Hazel’s but we will order off the menu and not eat the buffet. It was a huge decision but we finally got it settled. We weren’t worried about the food cause it’s always good at Hazel’s Nook. This morning was no different except that we figured it’s a better deal to have the buffet than ordering off the menu, and drinking water instead of coffee. (Coffee $1.79) An interesting thing about Hazel’s is that they “round up” to the nearest nickel because they don’t deal with pennies there. The cost of food is reasonable so the “rounding up” is inconsequential.
After Breakfast we stopped at “The Liquidation Store” on the way home. We’ve seen this place several times on our way up and down the highway for the past month and always wanted to stop and check it out. Well today was the day and we weren’t impressed. The majority of items were toys as you first walk in the store. There are small sections of other items but nothing that we were interested in buying. They advertise 30-80 per cent off, but I think that percentage is highly overrated.
We ended up our morning by heading back home to the campground. I was working on my video this morning and I finally got the remaining 2 GB downloaded on an 1989 film. I’ll start editing it tomorrow. I had to break up the last hour into two parts cause it was too big for a DVD to transfer. Now I have the whole 3 hours in my program, just waiting to be edited.
We had Playmoor Burgers tonight for Supper. “Playmoor” is a restaurant in Green Bay that serves a sandwich with 1 patty of ground beef and 1 Brat Patty with Cheese and with a creamy horseradish sauce on it. Yum, Yum.
The opening ceremonies for the Olympics were on the Telly tonight and we watched it until it was time for beddy bye. I mostly didn’t understand the story they were trying to convey and the bright spot of the night was the fireworks display. Although the Stadium they built only for opening and closing ceremonies was magnificent.

We were off at 8:30 this morning to Breakfast at the clubhouse in the campground. Every other week on Saturday they put on a Breakfast for the residents. It’s all you can eat Pancakes and Sausages, Juice and Coffee for $3. We picked up Corky and Deb on the way, and by the time we got there we barely found a place to sit. It was busy this morning and even the cooks were having a hard time keeping up with the crowd. Eventually the cooks caught up and we got enough to eat before we left for home.
By the time we got back home this morning I was stoked to get busy on my video editing. There wasn’t any need to stop for lunch cause we were both too full to eat anything anyway.
The Olympics were being broadcast full time this afternoon and it was a nice and entertaining thing to listen to while I was working on the video.
By late afternoon Sharon was cooking up Fried Chicken Strips, Cheesy Potatoes, Peas and a Salad for Supper. She manages to cook everything I like so that when she finally makes something for herself, I don’t complain. Something for herself includes roasts, pork and beef, steaks and anything else that means a chunk of meat.
We camped out in front of the tube tonight for the Olympics. We had to watch it in real time tonight and not on tape. I’d rather the tape so I don’t have to watch the commercials. But in any event we hung in there until the early show was over at 10:30

I was up early this morning and after writing my Journal I got immediately into editing my 1989 movie from a trip west to Mt. Rushmore and Devil’s Tower in Wyoming. By the date on this movie it should be evident that I’ve got a ton of editing ahead of me.
Sharon slept late this morning because she wasn’t feeling well. I got so wrapped up in our movie that I only stopped for a bagel or two, until 2 in the afternoon.
It was sunny and warm out this afternoon so we went over to Corky’s where he was outside carving a caricature this time. He’s working on a kneeling fireman.
After sunning ourselves for about an hour 4 o’clock rolled around and it seems to get a little nippy around this time even though the sun hasn’t gone down yet. Sharon and I bid our adieu and came back into the house.
We were having a pizza for Supper tonight and when I got back she was chopping some extra onions for the top of it. I guess she figured DiGiorno was a little light on the ingredients. She was right, cause the pizza was quite delicious when it was done.
The Olympics were on the agenda again tonight. We saw Gold medals won and lost tonight. Lesser athletes came out of nowhere to win and the favorites dropped off the podium and lost. This is always the case in the Olympics.
We watched the games all the way up to the end at 10:30 before we turned out the lights and hit the sack.
