We got up this morning and the weather was really half way decent this morning.  After showering and getting ready it was a shorts day for sure.  We may not get many chances to wear shorts but today looked like one of them.
We were off this morning still searching for that perfect Breakfast place and we may have found it at Big “O”s.  Although Hazel’s is still in the running.  The food at Big “O”s was very good and very reasonable.
On the way home we discussed what we were going to do today and it wasn’t much.  I stopped over at Corky’s before I actually came into the house and told him about our success in the restaurant search.   I’m sure he was on the edge of his chair even though he and Deb really don’t go out for Breakfast.
I decided after I got home that I was going to start writing my Newsletter today.  I could knock off a big part of it today in one fell swoop.  I had planned on going over to the pavilion today where Corky was wood carving, but the time just flew by while I was writing.  Before I knew, it was almost time for supper.
Sharon whipped up the leftover Pork from our Country Ribs into sandwiches for supper.  We also had baked beans and Potato Salad.  It was quite good for just a “fling together” supper.
I readied myself for the Sleepy Hollow final on TV tonight.  It was a 2 hour special that really didn’t end.  At the end of the show it announced that it would be back next Fall.  What a surprise!  I thought this was a one-year show.  Fox likes to do those half season shows to keep you interested I guess.  In any event it took us up til bedtime with a couple of other shows I recorded.  We made it til 11 before we bewitched ourselves into bed.

We awoke to another fine mid-January Alabama day this morning.  The wind was blowing and the folks who were walking around were doing it in knit hats, ear muffs and winter jackets.  You just don’t know what it’s going to be like here in the morning.
Sharon went for her walk this morning and was shivering by the time she got back.  She talked to Corky this morning about going to Mikee’s for lunch and then to the theater afterward.  They opted out of the movies but suggested we go to Hazel’s for their lunch buffet today.  We thought that was as good an idea as any.
We picked them up around noon and headed over to Hazel’s.  It’s actually a fun place to go to because the waitresses are so friendly and interactive.  There was Fried Chicken and Liver and Onions on the menu today.  Of course to go along with that was Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Rutabaga, Green Beans and an absolutely killer Cherry Cobbler.  Sharon headed for the Salad Bar and the healthy food before digging into the buffet.  The food was quite good and well worth the price of $15.50.
By the time we got home, we still had enough time for a post lunch nap.  We didn’t have to be at the theater until 3 o’clock and it’s only about a mile from the campground.  We had intended to go yesterday but we forgot all about it.
The movie we wanted to see was “The Lone Survivor” based on the Marcus Luttrell book.  It was kind of depressing knowing how it all would end, but it also showed the perseverance of the American warrior.  It was a fabulous movie from beginning to end.  Marcus Luttrell also had a couple of cameos in the movie.
We got home just in time to catch Jeopardy before it recorded on the DVR.  For the rest of the night we just acquired our favorite places and settled in for TV entertainment for the night.  We were able to stay up til 11 before we finally caved and went to bed.

We had another “wonderful” day in store for us today.  The Sun was out and shining but the wind was also blowing again today.
Sharon was done with her exercises and off on her walk early this morning.  While she was gone I decided to surprise her and take out the garbage. She wondered if I had taken my scooter to do the garbage but I had taken the car.  It was a lot less trouble.  By the time I get the scooter uncovered and ready to go I could have already been to the garbage and back again.
I still had the holding tanks to dump today but I decided to wait until she got back in case I needed help.  I didn’t and I got a really good dump today.  On occasion when we sit for a week or more we have a problem with a good dump.  But not today.
We were intending to go to the Elks Club tonight for the Trivia Contest so we just sat around this afternoon and watched a little tube.
We walked over to Corky and Deb’s at 5:30 and headed out to the Elks for the night.  We fared pretty well tonight getting 14 of the 20 questions right.  Unfortunately the team that won, got 16 right.  We had a great time, however, with the 12 people that were on our team.
We got back home around 9 with just enough time to catch a couple of shows that we had recorded.  Sharon ambled off early but I lasted until 11 before I caved.

I woke up last night about 2 or 3 experiencing a familiar pain in my back.  I got up and took my pre-planned medication for Kidney Stones and went back to bed.  This is just what I need, another stone.  By morning the pain was back again and I took another couple of pills.
I didn’t feel much like eating today so by the time noon rolled around I was pretty hungry.  I had a couple of English Muffins and they seemed to stay down quite well.
With this new development I really hadn’t planned on straying too far from home today.  Sharon had planned on going shopping for a few things and that didn’t deter her.  She took off this morning and browsed through several stores depending on what she was looking for.  She was gone for a couple of hours this morning having stopped at Lowe’s and Wal-mart looking for risers that we could support our rocking chair with.  She didn’t find anything that she was satisfied with so she came home empty handed except for the groceries.
I ended up nursing this stone for the rest of the day by taking medication at the suggested intervals.  They usually pass in a couple of days so I’m not worried about it at this point.  If it holds to the usual pattern I’ll be over it in a couple of days.
We had leftover Chicken Pot pie for Supper tonight.  Sharon can make a mean Chicken Pot Pie when she’s on her game.  And she made it last night and we just had enough leftover for a whole meal for tonight.  Yumm!
Tonight the networks were playing reruns again but we had enough taped from Wednesday night to make it through to bedtime tonight at 11.  I still had some lingering pain with the stone so I took another dose of meds before we retired for the night.

The stone was still nagging today so I took some pills as soon as I got up this morning.  I soon realized that I would be taking meds all day to relieve the pain.
Sharon was up and did her exercise and walk this morning and had planned to do the laundry this morning as soon as she was done.  He plans were thrown out the window when she couldn’t figure out when the clean-up crew would be in the bathrooms and laundry.  She finally spotted an opening early in the afternoon and headed out then.
I sat and watched TV and the back of my eyelids and took medication when I needed it for the rest of the afternoon.
By the time Sharon got back it was almost time for supper but she decided she wasn’t cooking and I didn’t blame her.  We fended for ourselves and she had soup and I had leftover Shrimp Creole for Supper tonight.  We were both happy with our choices.
After Dinner we settled in front of the TV for the night.  I also settled down with my medications of choice for Kidney Stones.  Some Torydal and Vicodin would hopefully carry me through the evening and night.
Sharon also called it a popcorn night a little later on.  We both stayed up until 10 tonight before calling it quits.  Sharon was commenting that she seemed to be picking up a cold.

We were off to the clubhouse this morning for Scrambled Eggs and Biscuits and Gravy.  We didn’t get there until 9 but there were plenty of places to sit and the food was very good.  Along with the Biscuits and Gravy we had Orange Juice, Coffee and a small Fruit Bowl.  It was a lovely way to start off the day.  We didn’t see Corky and Deb at the Breakfast so we wondered if they even went.  We haven’t seen them in a couple of days since they went to the casino.
I didn’t seem to be bothered by the Kidney Stone until after I got back from eating this morning.  The pain started to nag at me so I took the Torydal as soon as I got back instead of waiting for the pain to intensify.  And as luck would have it I didn’t have to take it again for the rest of the day.  With any luck it’s finally passed.
For most of the afternoon we just sat around and watched TV and Sharon knitted her baby hats.  We didn’t have anything special to do today so it didn’t matter that it was a “do nothing” day.
Sharon whipped up a Meatloaf for Supper and along with it we had a Baked Potato and Creamed Corn.  We had enough meatloaf leftover for a bunch of sandwiches and that’s a good thing.
We settled in after Supper for another night of reruns.  There wasn’t enough on tonight to record on the cable channels so we were stuck with the reruns.  They managed to keep us up until 11 anyway.  This rerun bonanza has to cease sometime this year.  Some shows are new. others are reruns.  I wish they’d get their act together.

Sunday, January 26, 2014

It looked like it was going to be a halfway decent day today when we got up.  The Sun was out and our Space heater was only running part time.
Sharon was up and off to church while I camped out in front of the TV to watch my Sunday Shows.  She had informed me that on the way home she was going to stop at the grocery store and pick up some stuff for next week.  By the time she got home it was evident she picked up quite a few things for next week, since it was almost noon by the time she got back.
I wasted away in front of the TV for awhile and then showered and went outside to join the Mrs.  When Sharon went inside for a minute I took my chair and went over and joined Corky who was outside carving.  Soon Sharon joined us and after that Deb came outside also.  We were out there for about an hour before the wind started to make an appearance and it got a little chilly.  We all decided that enough was enough and went inside.
Sharon made up a Taco Loaf for Supper that we only ate half of.  We can’t put it away like we used to anymore.  At one point we used to be able to almost finish the entire loaf.  We’ve got enough leftover for another meal which is not a bad thing.
After Dinner we bolted to our usual positions in front of the TV.  But as it turned out there was no hurry to get the best seat.  The programming tonight was absolutely atrocious, to say the least.  If you wanted to watch the Grammy’s you were in business, if not, tough cookies.  This had to be the worst night so far this year for any meaningful TV entertainment.  We did watch a new show called Wahlburgers on A&E.
We both saw no reason to be up past 10 tonight so we solved that problem by just going to bed.
