It was raining this morning as we headed out to Hazel’s restaurant that we discovered yesterday when we were out for Tacos.  The people in the place were so friendly and helpful.  Our waitress even brought grits to the table “just so we could taste them.”  We had both had grits before so we knew what they tasted like, but these were quite good indeed. The food was very good and the prices were reasonable except for the $3.50 coffee.  We can fix that.
After Hazel’s we went to the Wal-Mart next door to pick up a few things.  I couldn’t find a scooter than ran after trying about 5 of them, so I told Sharon I would wait out in the car for her.  She was back out in about a half hour and then we headed for Camping World just up the highway a piece.  It was actually a little further than we remembered, but it didn’t matter cause we had nothing else to do in the rain, and we needed to buy and check out a couple of things.
After taking care of business at the Camping World we stopped at Walgreen’s for Sharon’s batteries, and then another quick stop at the Murphy gas station for a fill up.  Murphy’s got the cheapest price for gas that we’ve seen.
It was still raining by the time we got home so we hauled our purchases into the coach in the rain.  I didn’t want to go to the woodcarving class today because I still had programs to install on the computer after having the Hard Drive formatted.  So I stayed home and did my diligence for the day.  I managed to get everything up and running in time for Supper.
We had leftovers tonight that had been in the fridge for a couple of days.  It was a way to get Sharon out of cooking for the night.  I had Spaghetti and Meatballs and she had Chicken Alfredo.  It had been a full day of good food.
Now for tonight’s entertainment.  There was a full schedule of original programming on tonight so we didn’t have to surf for anything.  In fact we had shows left over after taping.  We went to bed at 11 leaving 1 show til tomorrow.

We were both up early today and I joked with Sharon about getting up so early.  I told her she’d get everything done before 9 o’clock and then be bored all day.  She got into exercising right away to get rid of some of the kinks she’s been feeling lately.  I sympathized with her but didn’t actually get into the exercising part.  My kinks seem to get worse when I do something to get rid of them.  She also went for a long walk today and that’s something else I can’t do.
The sun was out this morning and it looked like it was going to be a nice day today, all day.  So at least she had a nice day for a walk around the park for a change.
At noon today Corky and Deb picked us up to go to Mykee’s restaurant for lunch.  Mykee’s is a seafood restaurant that only charges half price for a number of seafood combos on Tuesdays. We met Bill and Jo at the restaurant.   I ordered a Shrimp and Catfish combo with Corn Fritters and a hush Puppy.  Sharon had a Crab Cake combo with Red Potatoes and Turnip Greens.  Both combos were quite good and certainly enough to eat for the price.
After we got back home everybody came over to our patio since we had the only one in the sun.  Corky and Deb, Bill and Jo and even Doug and Jane from across the street stopped over.  We sat out there for at least a couple of hours until the sun started going down at which time it started getting a little cooler.
Sharon had put some Country Ribs in the Crock Pot before lunch and by the time 5 o’clock rolled around they were just finger lickin’ good.  I asked if she would fry up some potatoes and that was my supper.  She also heated up some Green Beans for a side for herself.  I don’t eat Green Beans..............ever.  Supper was quite good indeed and we even had a couple of pieces of leftover pork for sandwiches later on.
There was nothing happening anywhere tonight so we settled in for TV watching for the evening.  Tuesday is one of my favorite nights for TV anyway.  There’s more shows on than I can watch in one night so we always have leftover stuff to watch the next day or so.  We turned out the lights at 11 and settled into the soft spot between the sheets.

Another nippy day today with the temps rising to the high 40's.  The sun was out but that doesn’t seem to mean much down here.  We’ve had so many cold days since we got here that they’re only outnumbered by the days of rain.  But we’re still not disappointed that we made the decision to come to the South this year.  We’ve been relatively busy enough to not care much about the weather, and since we’ve been here it hasn’t snowed once.
It turned into another TV watching day for most of today since we don’t partake much in the activities in the park.  I prefer to watch my own TV in my own rig for entertainment for the most part.
This afternoon was going to be the Bratwurst feed in the clubhouse and we decided that we were going to attend that.  So Sharon made a snack to bring to the feed and we went over to the clubhouse around 4:30.  They wouldn’t let us in the hall when we got there so we had to stand outside in the cold and wait.  Had I known that, I would have worn a warmer jacket.  After riding my scooter up to the clubhouse I was a little cold and really didn’t appreciate having to stand outside in the wind and wait.  But we’re new here and have to play the games by their rules.  We just have to learn the rules.
The Bratwurst feed was good and we had a good time.  Debbie’s niece Terry stopped over and sat with us.   The snacks that everyone brought filled up the void that the Brat and Bean feed left over.  There was plenty of sweet treats that I shouldn’t have been eating anyway.
I suggested to Sharon to ride home with Deb and Joanne so I could just zip home on my scooter, but she said she’d walk and I could just go ahead.  I was half frozen by the time I got back.  At least walking would generate some heat.
We got back in time to catch Jeopardy before we settled in for TV watching for the night.  Wednesday is not an exceptional night for TV but we did find enough to watch and tape until we went to bed at 11.

The Sun was shining this morning but it really wasn’t that nice out today.  It was a little chilly out this morning.
Sharon was up and exercising this morning and shortly afterward was out on her walk around the campground.  After Sharon left on her walk Corky and Deb stopped over to let us know that they would be going for fish tonight.  He was wearing a knit hat and shorts.  I can’t figure whether he’s an eternal optimist, or just refusing to accept the cold days.
When Sharon got back from her walk she showered and took off for the Publix grocery store.  We got a $5 coupon at the Chamber of Commerce the first day we were touring around on our own.  She decided as long as she had it, she may as well use it.  She was gone for about 90 minutes or so and while she was gone I attempted to get  some video downloaded into the computer.  I got the computer formatted because I thought that might be the problem, but failed to get anything down loaded again.  I was so mad I had to disconnect everything in a hurry before I took the whole goddam mess and threw it out the door.  I’ve been f_____g around with this thing for two years and I’m completely disgusted with it.
By this afternoon it hadn’t warmed up much but we stopped over and picked up Corky and Deb and left for the American Legion just down the road.  They have such a nice Dinner for the price that it’s hard to pass up.  There are literally 20 people that sit at the table that we’ve been invited to.  Tonight they were doing a banner business and quite crowded.
We got back home in time to catch the programming on the idiot box for the night. Unfortunately it was all reruns tonight for absolutely no reason I could think of.  We had already seen the shows earlier in the year and now we were seeing them again.  Last week the TV was playing original programming, but this week it’s reruns.  Go figure.

Friday, January 17, 2014

We awoke to another cold day today but that didn’t stop Sharon.  She did her exercises and then went for a walk around the park.  By the time she got back she had already decided to do the laundry today, and took off across the street with our clothes.  I was getting tired just watching her this morning.
We had talked about going out for Breakfast this morning, but where were we going to find the time.  I’d have had to go for take out and then hand it to her on her way by.
I was content to write my Journal, adjust my expense sheets and play computer games while she worked her tail off.  I used to do all those things with her, but since my back surgery, not so much any more.
After lunch Sharon decided she was actually going to sit outside and read today.  She lasted about a half hour before she was back inside.  I’m assuming it was because it was still a little chilly out there.  I didn’t ask.
This afternoon Sharon was whipping up one of my favorite cajun dishes.  Shrimp Creole with egg rolls.  The egg rolls aren’t cajun but they seem to go so well with the Creole.  By suppertime it was smelling quite good in here and I was ready to eat.  And true to form the Creole was excellent.  Sharon also had a little wine to help the Creole go down.
Tonight was going to be another TV night.  Even though Friday isn’t that great for TV we had a couple of good shows on tonight.  We surfed until 8 and then caught Hawaii 5-0 and Blue Bloods to finish off the night.  It felt like it was going to be another cold night tonight.  We snuggled between the sheets about 11.

Saturday, January 18, 2014

We decided that today was going to be a “Breakfast out” day today since we planned to take another site seeing tour today.  We went to our old backup place McDonald’s, this morning, so we could get on with our day quickly.
After McDonald’s we headed west on the Fort Morgan road and managed get to the end and Fort Morgan.  Besides the fort there is also a World War II Battery located at the end of the island.  A ferry to traverse Mobile Bay is also located at the end of the island.  We didn’t get out of the car and walk around but we think that will be in our future over the next few weeks.
On our way back we crossed over Highway 59 (our road home) and took Fort Morgan’s counterpart road on the other side to it’s end at Bear Point and Orange Beach at the other end of the island.  On the way back home we stopped at “The Wharf” which is a huge shopping area between Orange Beach and Gulf shores but basically in the middle of nowhere.  We just drove around in there and it appears to be a collection of high end shops, including a hotel right in the middle.  We’ll probably make another visit when we have some time to get around.
When we got back home Corky was outside carving so Sharon and I grabbed a couple of chairs and stopped over.  It was relatively nice out and the sun was shining but it got a little chilly when the wind blew.  We were out there and Deb joined us after a while until the wind decided it was going to drive us indoors.  Sharon, Debbie and me all decided we’d be more comfortable indoors.
Sharon thawed out some Cream of Broccoli Soup for Supper tonight, but the real kicker was the Red Lobster Biscuits she made to go along with it.  It was all delicious.  The Red Lobster Biscuits are so good it’s hard to stop eating them.
We had a good night for TV tonight even though it was all repeats.  We actually watched a movie called “Argo”.  Sharon had taped it a couple of weeks ago when we had a free weekend on Cinemax.  It was about the Iran Hostage crisis during the Carter Administration.  It was quite a good movie about how the 6 Americans got out through the Canadian Embassy.  We caught another hour on Lockup before we went to bed at 11.

Sunday, January 19, 2014

The Sun was out this morning when I finally got out of bed but it didn’t have the prognosis of being a very nice day today.
I got into my usual Sunday this morning as soon as I got up.  I set the DVR to record my usual News/Political shows and sat back and waited for them to come on.  I only watch these shows to see how many lies they can tell to cover their asses.  I don’t think they actually realize the things they say, and that they expect people to believe them.
Sharon was up and off to church early again today.  She commented on my not taking out the garbage on her way out the door.  She was carrying the garbage as she left.
I watched my Sunday shows and ate my Breakfast while she was gone, and by the time she returned from church it was time for lunch.  There was Shrimp Creole calling to me from the refrigerator and there was still a couple of leftover Red Lobster Biscuits.  Both were still absolutely delicious.
After lunch there were a couple of Championship Football games on TV.  We weren’t interested in either so we both drifted off into a nap.
When I awoke I decided that today was going to be the day that I straightened out the handlebars on my scooter.  It was warm outside when I went out and as soon as I got working on the handlebars Corky stopped over.  When he saw what I was doing he managed to fix them for me.  I did do something, however.  I held his coat while he worked.  HaHa.
We were joined by Sharon and Debbie after a few minutes and it turned into a Happy Hour.  Never waste a good reason for a party.  It started getting cold after about an hour and Sharon, Debbie and I decided the party was over.
Sharon had a plan for Bratwurst and Potato Salad for supper tonight.  We had Bratwurst on Wednesday at the Brat feed but they seemed like such a good idea tonight too.  And they were, and they were excellent.
TV tonight was all original programming and that was just fine with me.  We had more than enough to watch and even had a couple of taped programs left over for later.  We headed to the rack about 10:45 and I fell into a coma almost immediately.
