This will be Sharon writing Bill’s adventure for a few days. I will explain why. Bill had a follow up Dr appointment today. We just picked one out of a list they gave us and were very happy with our choice, husband and wife team, Dr Bir. She said that the antibiotic should have done something in the four days it had to work but it hasn’t, so she had him admitted into Eisenhower Medical. They hooked him up to 4 bags of whatever, intravenous. He has to lay flat, foot up and for Gods sake, don’t touch the foot or he’ll scream. It is still swollen and sore. I came home, had a glass of wine and in bed by 9. Happy New Year!

Decided to do laundry right away. I had lots of towels from Bill’s leg oozing etc, so had to catch up. I know, that’s gross. Went to visit Bill in the afternoon. The hospital is 15 miles, but it’s an easy drive. His leg is starting to show improvement. The swelling is starting to go down, but still very red and sore. He also has a sore on the top of his foot, where a water blister from the fluid in his leg has drained. He’s in a private room, laying down, feet up, meals are good and a remote in his hand...what more could he want, just like home. I came home, by 5:30 I had my pj’s on and in bed by 9:30. I don’t even have an exciting life with or without him.

I wanted to go for a walk, so I walked over to Catalina Spa and picked up our weekly mail. It was a little farther than I wanted to walk but it was good for me. The motor home needed a wipe down. I got out the bucket and only had to change the water 3 times. It looks so nice when it’s clean since Bill painted the bottom a couple years ago. Ate lunch and it was time to go see Bill. There is a little improvement, which is good. Dr Bir comes in every day and also a wound specialist. He’s getting great care there. I got the car washed on the way home and went to Von’s for a few groceries. When I got home I cooked my Marie Calenders lasagna TV dinner. Arlene and Henry stopped over for a visit and to see how Bill was doing. Of course we had to have a couple of beers to cheer him on.

Went for a walk, gotta keep pushing myself. The ‘house’ needed some cleaning so I got to it right away. After lunch it was time to visit my honey. Can you tell I’m getting lonesome? It’s fun to have a little ‘me time’ but I’m ready for him to come home. His progress is slow but at least it’s improving. He’s being very patient, can you imagine that? Maybe it’s the drugs. Joanne and Terry came to visit him while I was there. It’s the first time we’ve seen them since we got here last Thursday. We’ve had lots of phone calls but I guess we were just waiting for Bill to come home to get together. Arlene and Henry had asked me to stop over for a drink after my visit with Bill. We had a beer or 2 and they asked me to stay for dinner. Ribs and potato salad, couldn’t pass that up. It was very good. Home by 6:30 and I had wanted to do a 500 piece puzzle, so I got it started. Stayed up late, 10:30.

The puzzle grabbed me right away with my cup of coffee. I broke away from it to make myself go for a walk. I went zig zag around the park instead of down the road, it wasn’t as far as I usually go but at least I got my butt out. It was time to ‘dump’ so I was going to do it by myself. Everyone has been so nice and offering their help whenever I need it. But I’ve been through this before. Bill and I have always done everything together since day one, when he was healthy. It has proven to be a good thing because I’ve had to take over a few times when he needed help. Listen up ladies, you just never know. I had the sewer already hooked up with grey water draining. I pulled the handle and the ‘shit happened’ just like it should. Time to see Bill. I told him I’ve had enough ‘me time’ and he said, they’re sending me to a nursing home. What! He’s doing good but the sore on his foot isn’t healed enough to go home. So he’s going to Country Villa tomorrow. His Dr will still check on him there. Arlene and Henry stopped in to visit Bill while I was there. Had the other half of my lasagna for dinner, worked on my puzzle, a little tv and off to bed.

The phone rang about 7:10, it was Joanne asking if I wanted to go to the Cottage at 9 for breakfast with her and Terry. So as long as I was ‘up’, I went. It’s one of Bill’s favorite places to go. I’ll be glad when we can go together. Terry loves a few cups of coffee, so after breakfast and several refills, I got home by 11. I had been threatening to do the outside windows on the motor home, so I got to it right away. Everything is nice and clean, ready for my honey to come home to. He called to say he’s waiting to go to Country Villa and will let me know when he goes, then I will go visit him there. The Packers played The Vikings at 5 in a playoff game. Bill called at 6:30 saying they were taking him to the new place. They had all day to do it and move him during a Packer game. He got there with time to see the rest of the game. I watched the game and Packers won 24-10. They will play San Francisco next Saturday. Super Bowl here we come. I will see Bill tomorrow after church.

I was up early to go to 9 am mass. I packed the computer so I could take it with me to see Bill. I wanted him to see email and what I have been writing here. To my surprise, he didn’t change anything. So I’m still here. His room is nice, doesn’t look like a hospital room. He had an omelet for breakfast and when I checked the menu, it looks like they serve very good meals. We’ll see what he thinks. While there, he said look at my legs. The swelling has gone down to the point of them being skinny. My mom, sister Sandy, and myself, all have skinny legs. I told him he may have skinnier legs than the ‘Charette girls’. So good to say, the swelling has gone down, redness has gone somewhat but the pain and sore on top of his foot is still there. Because today was Sunday, not much was done, we’ll see what tomorrow brings. I stopped at El Polo Loco for a chicken lunch, which was very good, never been there before. Did a little shopping at Walmart and went home. Arlene and Henry came over about 3, we had a couple beers along with a good visit. Wish Bill was here. Finished my evening with tv, my good book and popcorn.
