We ate a leisurely Breakfast at home today since we had nothing on our agenda til this afternoon’s doctor’s appointment.
Little did I know that Sharon had planned a lunch at McD’s today and we went there and ate. There were some noisy kids that kept running around the restaurant and all the tables in that part of the place were dirty. Nobody even made an effort to clean them all the time we were there.
After lunch we were ready for the doctor’s verdict and as it turned out my vascular surgeon and my plastic surgeon were both there today. They both concurred that it was time for me to be released. Sharon and I were ecstatic.
We called a couple of people and a couple of them called us knowing I always had my appointment on Mondays. We informed those of whom we talked to and they were all happy for us.
We still hand headed to Yuma, Arizona.ad a couple more things that had to be done before we left town so we pretty much got to them when we got back. We stopped long enough to have supper than got back to them again. We managed to finish up right at dark, which worked out well for us.
We watched a little TV before we headed off to bed for the night.

We were on the road this morning by 8:30 and headed toward Yuma, Arizona. It was our official start to the trip back home. We arrived in Yuma about noon having had to stop for gas along the way. I thought we could make it with what we had in the tank.
For some reason the jacks were not working after we got here.
We called Clay Nye and Linda as soon as we hit town and made a date for tonight at 5. We sat around and watched TV until they arrived. It was scorching outside and not conducive to any exterior work.
When they finally got here we sat around talking and drinking cocktails and trying to figure out where to go for Dinner. We finally agreed to go to a Mexican place called Chretin’s.
Most of the day today we had e-mails going back and forth to Tom McKenna and Jack Beauchamp. Neither is going to be available tomorrow. Tom has a meeting at work and Jack is traveling from Deming to Phoenix. We’ll pass them on the road since we’ll be leaving here and going to either Benson or Deming.
The food at Chretin’s was excellent and we had a good chance to sit and talk for an hour or so after we got done eating. We had a very good evening with Clay and Linda. On the way back to the camper we drove past Linda’s place which is in the same park as we are. Not a coincidence me thinks.
We watched TV til about 10:30 before we finally called it a night. For me it had been a long day.

We hit the road this morning disappointed that we couldn’t hook up with the McKennas or the Beauchamps today. We stopped for gas before we got on the highway. Barney’s which uses the same colors on their station as Flying J was just up at the corner. We needed to make another stop in Tucson at our favorite station which had gas for $3.13 a gallon. That will be almost as cheap as we’ll find it all the way home.
We drove today with a plan to stop in Benson, AZ for the night. And to just take the next few days easy. We arrived at Valley Vista Resort about 2 in the afternoon and settled into our site and turned on the air. We were home for the next ? hours.
We had sausage roll-ups for supper tonight along with Macaroni and Cheese and Baked Beans. It’s one of my favorites and a nice change of pace from eating complicated food.
Sharon refused to let me dry the dishes tonight ordering me to sit down and elevate the leg. I had some swelling in it yesterday but I also put a shoe on it and drove from Cathedral City to Yuma. I didn’t have that much activity on it today. In fact I only drove from Eloy to Benson, about 70 miles.
We settled in front of the Telly for the evening and managed to have several shows already on tape to watch, although there were several good shows on tonight. So needless to say we saved a few things for later.

We were on the road early this morning even though we were only going about 160 miles today. We wanted to make it to the Little vineyard Resort early so that we could go to the Si Senor Restaurant for lunch.
Sharon drove all the way today and she was whipped by the time we got here. She’d have to save her nap til after lunch though. We arrived at the Little Vineyard about 1:30 having lost an hour on the way across the border We took off immediately for the restaurant. As luck would have it we were almost the only people in the place at that time. It’s become one of our favorite restaurants because of the really good food.
We came back home and Sharon dropped me off while she went shopping. She had to pick up a bunch of groceries at Wal-Mart and a few other things, including a prescription for me. By the time she got done she had run all over town to find the stuff she needed. It’s a good thing it’s a small town.
When we got back we found out that we were parked next to a couple with a half dozen motorcycles from Howell, Michigan. They had a mini-motorhome and they were pulling a pretty good sized trailer. I’m sure the motorhome was overloaded for what they were pulling. They seemed friendly enough though, to talk to, even though it was brief.
We were still both full at suppertime so we just snacked instead. I had the leftover Mac and Cheese from the other night and Sharon finished up her enchilada from the restaurant today.
We camped out in front of the TV for the night and watched some of our regular shows. We still had stuff on tape but we had anough live to get us through to bedtime. We also decided tonight that we would stay another day to give Sharon a break from driving. She’s not used to the long days it takes to get us home. I think she’ll realize what it takes this year for sure.

Today was a day that we both would relax for awhile. Sharon took off with the laundry and I put away a couple of the cleaners that she bought yesterday. It was also a good time to dump our gray water and refill the water tank.
This was the first day in a while that we had a reprieve from the heat. It got up to about 80 but it was a pleasant day out today and not too hot.
This afternoon I sat around and watched TV and Sharon tried to take a nap. Neither of us was very successful.
We had Meatloaf and Fried Potatoes with Whole Kernel Corn for Supper tonight. It was all quite good.
It would be a TV night tonight with a couple of our regular shows on tonight. We still have shows on tape that we’ll probably catch after the good shows run out tonight.
We also made up our minds which direction we’ll take home this year. It was all up in the air because of the price of gas. There is no real solution to the problem.

Today would be a driving day for sure. We’re leaving Deming hoping to get to Amarillo today. We stopped for gas once and I even drove a little today. We stopped in Alamagordo at Pepper’s Grill, and had a delicious sandwich called a Monte Cristo. It was Ham and turkey with Swiss Cheese, dipped in egg and fried. We also had Raspberry dipping sauce to put on it. Yumm!
It seemed like it took a long time to get here, but we made it all 451 miles today. That will definitely be our longest driving day all the way home.
We have no favorite places to stop between the two cities, or for that matter to eat at. We traveled today with BBQ on our minds at Dyer’s BBQ here in Amarillo.
We arrived at 7:30 having lost another hour on the way, and immediately left for Dyer’s and our supper. We each had a two-meat Dinner that we could hardly finish, In fact Sharon took home one of her ribs and a piece of Pork Tenderloin.
By the time we finally got home it was around 8:45 and there was not much time left for watching TV. Although we did until 10:30 before we headed off to bed.

We got up this morning and Sharon made Egg McMuffins for Breakfast which were very good.
We had no specific distance we intended to travel today, but we did make it past Oklahoma City and came to rest in Seminole, Oklahoma. As luck would have it we stopped here one other time during a rain and hail storm. We were running around the motorhome videoing all the hailstones that were falling. We weren’t in any danger from the storm but it was fun to tape it. There was no lightning or serious rain.
We arrived here about 4 o’clock and decided that we would stay here for the night instead of looking for another campground. The place was crowded and we wondered if they could even find a site for us. We had trouble setting up the dish until Sharon decided to check the co-ordinates again. We had recorded the settings for an oblong dish. After we got the right settings it only took a minute or so to find the satellite.
We settled in and turned on the air so Sharon could cook supper for the two of us. She was making a mini-pizza and reheating the leftover wiener-wraps we had the other day. I already ate the leftover Mac and Cheese so we won’t be having that tonight.
It’ll be a TV night tonight and we’ll probably be heading to bed right at ten so that we can get back on the road somewhat early tomorrow.
