The wind was horrendous last night and early this morning.  It woke me up at 5 o’clock even though I did go back to sleep til about 7.
Dennis and Mary Ceshker were arriving today for an overnight stay just to see us.  Sharon and I had other things to do today also.  First, before anything, I had to go to the Rancho Mirage Lab to give them a supply of blood to test.  After that we went to Bristol Farms for Breakfast.  They’ve always had a pretty good Special there that included coffee, but now the coffee is extra.  They nail you with a $2 cup of coffee.  But the Breakfast was quite good as it always was.  Eggs, “morning potatoes”, Bacon and Toast.
After Breakfast we headed back home and pulled into the park right behind Dennis and Mary.  We could tell it was a car with occupants that didn’t really know where they were going.  They turned left inside the park instead of right so we drove up behind them, and sure enough Dennis and Mary.  They followed us back to our site and we sat for a couple of hours before it was time for me to go to my Monday doctor’s appointment.
Me and the Mrs. Left about 12:45 to get to the doctor’s at 1:15.  It’s a perfect time for this doctor. (Gauto) He’s just getting back from lunch and I’m the first patient.  I got right in again and an hour later he had debrided my foot and the dressing was on and I was done.
By the time we got back Dennis and Mary were also back from getting their motel and sitting on the patio.  We came back inside when the wind actually made it a little cool to sit outside.  The wind has been our nemesis over the past week.  It was a shame because Dennis and Mary didn’t really get to see this beautiful valley when they came down the Chiriaco Summit.  The valley was filled with dust in the air.
We sat around talking for most of the afternoon because Dennis had hurt his back on Saturday and we didn’t want to suggest a tour that would probably have aggravated it.
Later we went to Applebee’s for Dinner and neither Dennis or Mary got their Baked Potato that they ordered, until after they were done with their meal.  Lately it always seems like when we go out to eat something happens.
Dennis and Mary headed back to their Motel at halftime of the NCAA Championship game between Michigan and Louisville.  Michigan ended up losing in the end.  We watched regular TV until bedtime and then headed out for a good night’s sleep.

.
Dennis and Mary stopped over early this morning and we headed out for Mimi’s Café in Rancho Mirage for Breakfast.  After Breakfast we drove toward Palm Springs on Highway 111 to give them the valley tour.  We took a couple passses through Palm Springs and showed them the 40' tall Marilyn Monroe statue in the downtown.
We had heard that Gene Autry Trail was closed yesterday so we just took Indian Canyon across the highway to North Palm Springs.  After that we went through Desert Hot Springs and then went to Catalina Spa and Desert Pools to show them where we stay for most of the winter.
After that we drove back to Outdoor Resorts and home.  We got back in time for Henrietta to make her daily visit at 1:30.  She confirmed that the infection that I had last week was MERSA.  I’m still on medication.
After that we sat around for a little while,  because the wind was under control and then the Ceshkers left for home in Mesa.  They didn’t care much for driving at night through Phoenix so they tried to avoid it.
Sharon and I went inside and while she took a nap I watched news for awhile.  I was getting hungry so I finished up the Shrimp Creole with a couple pieces of toast, that we had the other day.
TV was mostly in our future for the night.

Sharon was off to Subway this morning to pick up our Steak , Egg and Cheese Flatbread sandwiches.  She didn’t get the good deal on them though, because she was after 9 AM.  I told her she should have walked away.  We could have gone to IHOP for Breakfast.
After Breakfast we left and headed to Palm Desert to find the Best Buy store.  Sharon checked the GPS and couldn’t find it, and after we drove past the store I checked it, and found both of them.  One in palm Desert and one in LaQuinta.  I knew  where the one in LaQuinta was so we just kept driving til we reached it.  We were there for quite a while before we got our information and left.  Apparently our camera is the problem with downloading the video.  It’s a shame but we’ll have to buy a new one.
We managed to get back home about an hour before Henrietta’s arrival.  But at least we got some valuable information about our camera.  She also told us that she thought Dr. Gauto would release me this week because of the progress of my foot.  We can only hope.  It seems to be getting close though.
It warmed up quite a bit this afternoon so we just stayed close to the motorhome with the air on.  Who could survive the heat without air conditioning?
Sharon fried up Chicken strips and noodles for Supper tonight.  She dipped the chicken in Ritz crackers before she fried them up.  They were quite good.
We were stationed in our usual spots for the night watching the available TV.  We did have a couple of our regular shows on tonight and they kept us up til 10.

We were up and Breakfasted early this morning ready to make a jaunt over to Home Depot and Wal-Mart.
We were on the road by 9 and it took about 10 minutes to get to Home Depot in Cathedral City.  We were looking for covers for chairs and we found a good one at Home Depot.  We were also looking for a portable space heater for the trip home.  We burnt up two of them this winter and with Minneapolis getting a foot of snow today it might not be far behind for the U.P.  We had to stop at Lowe’s for the space heater and it was the last one on the shelf.
On the way home we decided to go to the Hibachi City Grill for lunch.  It’s a
chinese bufffet that used to be called the Pak Inn.  They were quite busy today and people kept pouring in all the time we were there.  The last time we were here with Phil and Joyce there was hardly anybody there, but it had recently opened.
Henrietta is due again today and we made it home before she arrived.  She actually didn’t make it until just after 2:30.  She called us up and told us she forgot about me.  I gave her the raspberries when she came.
We were both full when suppertime rolled around so we knew it would be open season on snacks tonight.  And sure enough that’s the way it turned out.  I had a peanut butter and banana sandwich and Sharon ate everything else.
We did stay up til 10:30 watching TV before we called it a night.

When I got up this morning I plugged in our new heater and it was working just fine.  Unfortunately it may be using too much electricity.  I checked the wattage and it fell within limits.  I am surprised it throws so much heat.
We were on the road this morning at 10 to make an appointment at Dr. Bir’s office in Rancho Mirage.  When we got there we found out that only Dr. Bir’s wife, Dr. Seema Bir was working this morning.  I had seen her on my first appointment, and she admitted me to Eisenhower Medical.  Since then I’ve only seen her husband for my appointments and in the hospital.  She gave me an appointment on Monday to fill out a Medicare Physical Form.
After the doctor’s we headed out to Michael’s for Sharon to pick up a project.  Instead she found a gift for our grandson.
On the way home we stopped at Carl’s Jr. For a sandwich and fries.  Their Fish Sandwich looked very good and that’s what we had.  Besides it was Friday today.
When we got home I had to wait for Henrietta and Sharon decided to take off with the laundry.  She was back for a break just after Henrietta left.  She was only here for about 20 minutes today because she put on a different dressing.  It wasn’t as complicated as the dressings in the past.  She had talked to Dr. Gauto yesterday and told him that I was basically healed, so he changed it to a different type of dressing.  I’m anxious for my appointment on Monday to see if he releases me from treatment.  If so, we’ll wrap things up here and take off next week.
We had Spaghetti and Sausage for Supper tonight.  It had been a while since we did Italian.
We camped out in front of the TV for the night and watched a few of our favorites for the night.

We were off to IHOP this morning for the Breakfast of Champions.  Actually I had wanted to do this for a couple of weeks and it seems now that our time is running out here.
We stopped at two places to check on oil changes for the car before we leave to go home.  Neither was cheap but wqe’ll have to get it done next week.
We got home and we were expecting to see Henrietta early today but she didn’t get there until after noon. She made it over today and told us she was sure that Dr. Gauto would release me from care at Monday’s appointment.  That means we won’t see her again after tomorrow.
We were also expecting a visit from the wheelchair company to come and get their chair today.  It’s now almost 3 o’clock and I haven’t heard from them yet.
I don’t expect Sharon and I will be eating Supper tonight after the Breakfast we had this morning.  The amount of food I ate this morning is why I prefer buffets for some meals.  When you have to order ala Carte I always manage to eat a ton and it’s expensive.  Our Breakfast was at least $28 this morning.  I can feel already that it’s going to be a ”snack night” tonight.
Suprisingly we both sat down to finish up the Rigatoni’s that we had the other night.  And of course, they were better the second time around.
We didn’t snack tonight unless you count the apple that Sharon ate.  I managed to refrain from any additional eating.
We lasted tonight until 9:45 until we ran out of programming tonight.

Sharon was on her way to church this morning having opted not to go last night.
While she was gone I made my Breakfast of pancakes and sausage.  It was quite good even though it was microwave stuff.
By the time she got back it was almost time for lunch.  I had watched all my Sunday political shows while she was gone.
Lunch was going to be leftover chicken strips fried into a melt sandwich.  The sandwiches were very good and we chased them down with potato chips and Peach/Mango Iced Tea.  Yumm.
After lunch Henrietta showed up for her visit today.  She wasn’t happy with the blisters that were forming on the donor site on my thigh.  She changed my dressing on my foot and also put a pad on my thigh and taped it on with medicated cream.  I’ve got a doctor’s appointment tomorrow so we’ll have to see what happens when he gets a look at it.
We took off this afternoon having a couple of stops to make to pick up some merchandise.  We went to JoAnn’s Fabrics for Sharon to pick up some yarn for a project she’s working on, and then we went across the street to Wal-Mart to pick up motor oil and a filter for the motorhome.  We’ve decided that at $100 plus we’ll change the oil ourselves in Quartzsite.  It’ll only take about an hour including the cool-down of the engine when we get there.
Tonight we had Jambalaya and Sausage for Supper tonight.  We also had creamed corn to go along with it.  It was very good.
We sat and surfed in front of the TV tonight.  Sunday is a relatively lousy night for TV and tonight is particularly bad news.  We couldn’t find anything except 60 minutes and the Mentalist.  We’ll probably have to finish off the night watching Lockup on MSNBC.
