We were off early today to go to Catalina Spa to pick up any stray mail including our new RPI Directory. While we were there we drove around to see how many paeople were in the park but we were also looking for Roy and Maryann Parent to see if they were around. We couldn’t find them so they must be at Desert Pools next door.
By the time we got back home we had barely enough time to eat lunch and get to the doctor’s. It was about a 20 minute drive to get to the doctors and we got there about 10 minutes early. We go at 1 PM because that’s the best time to catch the doctors on time. I lucked out today and had my Wound Vacuum removed today. I was only on it a little over 3 weeks including my skin graft, when we originally thought I’d be carrying that thing around for 9 weeks. It was all-around good news after a long 2 and a half month wait.
We came home and I celebrated by sitting outside for the next couple of hours, reading my Glenn Beck Book. It was nice and warm with a gently breeze to keep me cool.
We had recent leftovers for Supper tonight. I had Spaghetti and Meatballs and I don’t remember what Sharon had but it included Green Beans.
Watching the tube tonight was especially enjoyable because I didn’t have to chase the Wound Vacuum around.

We were up and showered early today and Sharon ran over to Subway for a couple of Steak, Egg and Cheese sandwiches on flatbread. They were very good and it’s been awhile since we’ve had them.
Bill and Jan Dieckman were set to visit today but we don’t know what time they will be here. They’re coming from Sun City West which is just west of Phoenix so it will take them a few hours. They actually arrived just after Sharon had made two Meatloaf sandwiches for our lunch. She put them away and we went to McD’s for lunch instead.
After lunch we decided to take them on a tour of the Valley. We first took them to Catalina Spa and showed them our campground and then took them to downtown Desert Hot Springs. After that we went across the highway (I-10) and wanted to find the giant statue of Marilyn Monroe in downtown Palm Springs. The tour took about an hour and a half and we arrived back home in Cathedral City.
We sat around just talking and catching up for awhile and then we took off for Applebee’s to eat supper. After Supper Bill and Jan came back to our camper and we sat and talked for about a half hour before they left for home. Originally we thought they would be staying overnight in a motel but apparently they changed their minds. Most of the motels and hotels are full for the Kraft Nabisco Golf Tournament.
By the time we got indoors and settled in front of the TV for the rest of the night, it was around 8 PM. And of course that’s where we remained for the rest of the night.
I had a tough time falling to sleep tonight and I probably over did it with my foot today.

We had nothing planned for today except to be here at 1 when Henrietta the wound nurse would come to change my dressings.
Sharon took off for her walk this morning and managed another different route. She didn’t walk as far as she did the other day when she got lost. But she did manage . To get her butt out there. After Henrietta left, Sharon left for shopping at Wal-Mart and a couple of other places that she had in mind. I took my Glenn Beck Book and went outside to sit in the shade. Our 1 air conditioner is not keeping up for now. It’s okay until about mid-afternoon and then it gets overwhelmed. It’s good that the breeze outside is enough to keep cool.
Sharon got back in about an hour and jolined me outside after she put away all the “cold items” that she purchased. She also bought us a couple of KFC Chicken Pot Pies for supper tonight. We tried them at home and absolutely love them.
After supper we camped out in front of the TV and watched 3 or 4 of our favorite shows. They’re easy to catch when you have a DVR. We were up until 10 and then we called it a night.

We were both up and showered this morning cause I had a doctor’s appointment with Dr. Bir at 9:45 and we had to drive about 6 miles to get to his office. The results were that he wants me off my diabetes medications and taking injectable insulin instead for the next couple of weeks. I’m not happy about increasing my use of insulin instead of oral medication. He did give me a new oral medication to take for the next couple of weeks, however.
We got back home and sat outside for awhile just reading and Sharon was playing on her Nook. She’s addicted to a couple of video games that she downloaded when we first got out this way.
Sharon took me for a ride on the golf cart today before supper. She wanted to check the mail and I just rode along. After the mail we just kept going and she gave me the nickel tour of the park. It was fun until I had to hit the bathroom and she took me home.
We had grilled chicken sandwiches for supper tonight. It was like a Patty Melt except there was a half of a chicken breast in the ciabatta bread. We also had leftover Macaroni and Cheese, Baked Beans and Cole Slaw from KFC. It was a very good “throw together” meal.
Our air conditioner is still not working so we sat outside after supper for awhile. When it cooled off after about an hour or so, we came back in cause the rear air was taking care of the heat. We watched what was available on TV for the night which was almost nothing. We did hang in ubtil 10 though befolre we caved in favor of the bed.
Friday, March 29, 2013GOOD FRIDAY
We had no plans today except to wait for our repairman (air conditioner) and my wound nurse who would be here around 1 PM.
We were both showered and dressed early anyway and both of the people we were expecting showed up late. Our repairman came at 12:30 when he said he’d be here in the morning, and Henrietta showed at about 1:45 when she said she’d be here at 12.45. She also brought bad news with her when she unwrapped my foot. A piece of the skin graft was not “taking hold.” She immediately called the doctor and he didn’t really seem that concerned about the looks of the graft. (She had sent a picture) By the time she left she had reassured us that it didn’t really seem that bad, and we’ll just have to wait and see. Dr. Gauto wanted her to revisit tomorrow and check it out. So we’ll just take a wait and see attitude.
We mostly just sat around close to home today. It was definitely a TV watching day for sure. We decided to get the new Fish Bites from McD’s for Supper tonight. It was a littlew disappointing since the “bites” were quite small and we just got an order of 15 for both of us, with fries. It really wasn’t enough but we did have a hot fudge sundae for Sharon and an apple pie for me.
Tonight woud be a weak TV night for sure. Even with the DVR there was nothing worth watching on the tube. But we struggled through it for another night.
Saturday, March 30, 2013
We were off early this monring to meet Roy and Maryann Parent at Two Springs Resort for the Buffet Breakfast. We don’t usually get up this early for Breakfast but today we had to drive to North Palm Springs to get there. It’s quite a bit further from here than it is from Catalina Spa.
We had a very nice Breakfast with them but this will be the last one this year for Two Springs. They had a public thanking of the chef’s staff and announced that they’ll see us again next year.
We came back home and waited for Henrietta to arrive today. My skin graft is not looking good and she’s coming on a daily basis now. I thought she would show between 11 and 12 but she never made it til about 2:30. She was optimistic but I think I really have to wait until Monday’s doctor’s appointment before I get the unvarnished truth.
Another day in front of the Tv on a day that is notoriously bad for any programming. We’ll surf our way through the night, however, and find a way to make it to bedtime.
Sunday, March 31, 2013HAPPY EASTER
Sharon went for her walk this morning and after making my Breakfast, she was off to church. She baked the Cornish Game Hens that we’ll have for Easter Dinner last night and she is intending to cook the rest of the meal sometime today. I guess we’ll be eating sometime early this afternoon.
Sharon came back from church today just beforre Henrietta arrived to care for my wounds. This’ll make 3 days in a row that she’s been here. When she came again she was pretty non-commital about the graft. No matter, because I have to wait until my doctor’s appointment tomorrow before I find out anything definitive. Although she did clean my thigh wound with a solution of Saline and Bleach. We’ll see if that has any effect on the amount of drainage I’m getting from there. It does seems a bit excessive. She also said she had 3 more patients to see today before she was done. Man that girl works like a slave and this week it was 7 days without a break.
It was a hot one out this afternoon so we just sat inside close to home and watched the previous episodes of the Bible. It’s supposed to finish the series tonight and we’ll catch the ending for sure.
We had Cornish Game Hens with Peppers for Supper tonight. It’s one of my favorites and it turned out to be very good. The Peppers are a mixture of Red, Green and yellow mixed with small chunks of potatoes and onions.
After Dinner we camped out in front of the TV to watch the ending of The Bible. It showed the Crucifixion in very graphic terms which may not be for everybody. The end of the series was very good and everybody should see it depending on your age.
