We went out for Breakfast this morning to the Sunshine Café, the restaurant that Terry and JoAnn had taken Sharon to a couple of times while I was in the hospital.  It’s a little dive in Palm Springs that has real good food and the prices are very reasonable.  It gets quite busy for Breakfast, and we got there just in time to get a table today.
Afterward we came straight home to wait for my doctor appointment with Dr. Gauto this afternoon at 1 PM.
We arrived at my appointment just in time before 1 o’clock and they took me in right away.  Dr. Gauto was there when they got my dressing off and we got a wonderful surprise when he saw my progress.  He called in the Plastic Surgeon from his office and started to arrange my surgery for the skin graft.  Apparently it will be the end of this week   or the beginning of the next.  We couldn’t have gotten better news.
We were ecstatic all the way back home.  We just sat around watching the Telly for the rest of the afternoon in the air conditioned coach.  Terry and JoAnn stopped over and we gave them the good news about my foot and they were happy for us.
We celebrated tonight with some food from Del Taco.  I had their meat burrito and Sharon had a couple of tacos.  We each had a churro for dessert.
We spent the night watching TV until Terry and JoAnn stopped over after their Dinner date with friends.  They stayed for an hour or so before they headed home and we finished watching the show we were watching, and then headed off to bed.

We got up this morning with not much to do today but we were intending to take Terry and JoAnn to Billy Reed’s Restaurant for lunch today.  Billy Reeds is a very old, very nice place just north of Palm Springs that we have only been to once in our history out here.  We were impressed with the ambiance and we consider it a special place to go and eat.  We wanted to take them out to lunch to thank them for all the stuff they’ve done for us since I was in the hospital.
They’ve taken Sharon out for meals several times and visited me a bunch of times and just been very good friends in the time of this crisis.  Not to mention that they’ve offered us their site for free after they leave to go back to Canada.  It will save us a bunch of money and we appreciate it greatly.
We had a lovely lunch and we were amused by the Coy pond outside with some huge turtles also in the lot.
We got back home shortly after two o’clock and just sit and rested after getting back.  I find myself doing that a lot now that I’m supposed to be on restrictive behavior.  Sitting at home with my foot elevated takes up most of my days lately.
I also got a call from the doctor’s office today informing me that I was scheduled for surgery on Friday and that I had some blood work that had to be done on Wednesday.I’ve been excited to get the skin graft but we had no idea that it would be this quick.   I’m a little anxious to have it done, especially this quickly after the wound vac was applied.  But I will be glad when it’s over.
We watched the tube until bedtime tonight and my zzzquil is still working for me at night.

We had plans today to meet Phil and Joyce at the Chinese Restaurant that used to be the Pak Inn.  I think it’s called the Hibachi Grill now.
Henrietta was scheduled to make a stop for me today so we’d have to wait until she was done before we could go.  She was expected to be here around 12-12:30, and then we planned on calling Phil and Joyce and leaving our parks at the same time.  We’re both about the same distance from the restaurant, and suprisingly enough,we pulled into the parking lot at exactly the same time.
The restaurant has been sold, remodeled and reopened under new management and it was very light and airy in the new place.  The food is still very good and very reasonable.  We had q very nice lunch and it will probably be the last time we’ll see Phil and Joyce before they leave for home.  We didn’t get much chance to socialize with them this year because of my problems.  It’s a shame because of the cost of traveling now, we may not be coming back here next year.
We got back home after lunch and just sat around and watched TV for the day.  It was too warm to sit outside and enjoy the weather.  It was much more comfortable to just sit in the air conditioning.
I headed off to bed early tonight cause I couldn’t take a nap this afternoon.  I tried but it didn’t work out for me.  So I headed out at 9 and Shron stayed up until 10:30.

We were off to the Sunshine Café this morning with Terry and JoAnn for their last Breakfast before they head out toward home tomorrow morning.  We were eating among the “fruit loops” this morning.  There was a group of 4 out on the porch this morning kissing and hugging.  They’re not bashful here in Palm Springs.
We came immediately home after Breakfast and sat outside in the fresh air with Terry and JoAnn for about an hour or so before they left for home.  They still had stuff to do today before they’ll be ready to pull out tomorrow.
After they left, Sharon took off with the laundry to get that caught up for the week.  I just sat around home and behaved myself while she was gone.  I sat outside for a while listening to Rush and then came inside to watch my recorded Fox and Friends from this morning.
We watched TV for most of the night expecting Terry and JoAnn to stop over and say they’re final good-byes.  They finally got finished up with the rest of their business and stopped by about 9.  They stayed for about an hour and then they left.
We went to bed to get ready for the long day we were expecting tomorrow.

Friday, March 22, 2013

We were up and showered early this morning cause today was going to be my skin graft on my foot.  We needed to be at the hospital at 9 for the surgery at 11.  They found a way to make me wait until 1:30 before they took me in the operating room.  But after that the surgery was quick and we were ready to go home by about 4:30.  Needless to say I was very happy that I was able to do the surgery on an outpatient basis.
After we got home I just sat with my foot elevated for the 4th week in a row.  Those were my instructions for the next three days until I see the doctor again.
We stopped at McD’s on the way home and picked up some sandwiches since I hadn’t eaten since last night at Supper.  I was starved.  The best I could do was a couple of regular cheeseburgers for the time being.  Later I would be able to eat a bowl of Italian Wedding Soup.  It was the only thing that sounded good at the time.
We camped in front of the TV for the night and answered phone calls from friends who wanted to know about the skin graft.  As far as my opinion is concerned, it turned out just fine, and I’m back home again.  I was worried however, if I was going to be able to sleep tonight, so we’ll see.
We stayed up until our usual time and of course, I took my zzzzquil before I hit the hay.

I slept as well as I usually do since I got home from the hospital so I have no complaints there.  Sharon was restless last night but I don’t know the reason or reasons.  I guess I’ll find out later today.
She went for a walk around the park this morning and managed to cover the whole park before she finished.  By the time she got Back she asked what I wanted for Breakfast.  She reminded me that we had frozen pancakes and sausage, so I opted for that.  It was very good and it really hit the spot.  She had her usual cereal this morning and then she cut up some mixed fruit for us to enjoy for the rest of the day.
She sat outside for awhile this morning when I complained it was too cold inside the motorhome.  I went back in the bedroom and got my jacket while she was showering.  Sometimes I get a chill and just can’t warm up.  It happened when I first came home from the hospital too so it might have something to do with my surgery on Friday.
By this afternoon I warmed up and needed the air conditioning turned on.  Sharon was happy that I was ready for the air.
Sharon took off for church this afternoon and we’ll eat supper when she gets back.  It looks like we’ll be having Spaghetti and Meatballs tonight.  And it turned out quite good when she got back.
We spent another night in our usual positions in front of the TV for the night.  With this foot making decisions for my life, it doesn’t allow me much leeway.  Perhaps it will allow me moree freedom in the future.

Sunday, March 24, 2013

We were both up early this morning and I was chilled from the moment I hit the floor.  By the time Sharon got up I needed to have the furnace turned on.  I was already sitting and watching TV in sweats and I was still chilled.  Of course Sharon got up and put on shorts for her walk.
Before she left she offered to cook my Breakfast and I opted for what I had yesterday, 3 pancakes and 4 sausages and a half a banana.  It was quite good again today.  She left on her walk as soon as she fed the cripple.
She was gone for about an hour and I found out that she got lost on the way today.  When she got back she was wondering if she would even make it today.  I laughed because she always tries to go further than yesterday.
After her shower she went outside just to sit and recoup her energy for tomorrow apparently.  After awhile I actualy went out and joined her.  It was nice out today and it was good to sit in the fresh air.  We came back in when it was time for her to cook supper.
We had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas for Supper tonight.  We even had gravy on the meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  A new addition ot our meatloaf Dinner.
We watched a couple of episodes of The Bible tonight before we actually sat down to Dinner and found out it will finish up on Easter Sunday.  We’ll have to catch the ending next Sunday.
We camped out for the rest of the night even though most of the stuff we watched had to be taped.  Sunday is such a poor day for TV and right now March Madness is dominating the airwaves.  But we’ll tough it out for the time being.
I mainly wanted to just sround and behave myself today since I have an important doctor’s appointment tomorrow.  I will see my Vascular Surgeon along with the Plastic Surgeon who did my skin Graft.  I can’t afford to get a bad report from either.
So we pretty much stayed close to home today and watched TV.  Another exciting day and night in front of the tube.
