We had a full day ahead of us today with two Doctor’s appointments in Rancho Mirage.
We started out with Breakfast at the Cottage Too with Terry and JoAnn and then came back home to wait until noon for my first appointment.  It was going to be one of those 20 miles trips to get there.  Just a few blocks short of Sharon’s daily trek for the last 2 months.
We got to Dr. Gauto’s (vascular surgeon) right on time but we didn’t have the right supplies for a wound vac change so they just removed the vac and I’ll have a new one put on tomorrow.  I got a good report from him and we were happy when we left.
We had some extra time before my next appointment so we drove back home to wait.  We would have to come back to almost the exact same place for the next appointment, but that’s what we’ll have to do.
We rested for and hour or so and then headed back to Rancho Mirage.  The appointment with Dr. Bir also went well and we were headed back home in about 45 minutes.
By the time we got home it had been a long day for sure.  We didn’t even have much time to watch TV tonight.  It seemed like a short night.

We had to wait until 1 today for Henrietta, the wound nurse, to put my wound vac back on today.  They took it off at the Doctor’s but we didn’t have the supplies with us to put it back on again.
We took off on a trip back to Rancho Mirage this morning to a lab to have some work done.  It took most of the morning by the time we took two trips over.  It’s a shame that everything is at least 15-20 miles away from our campground here in Desert Hot Springs.  Two trips uses up most of your day and almost into the night.  Thr price of gas is killing us for sure.
The heat is starting to set in and it’s supposed to be into the hundreds by this weekend.  We’ll have our fill of the heat before we leave here this year.
By the time that Sharon got back from the second trip to the lab she barely had time to grill us a couple of Chicken Sandwiches.  Although they turned out great and were very good indeed.
We camped out in our favorite spots for the night and watched the Telly until the bewitching hour.

Today was quite a busy day for Sharon.  She was working all day to get us ready to move to Outdoor Resorts tomorrow.  She started off by washing down the bottom of the motorhome, and after that she took off with the laundry to get that caught up.  Needless to say I wasn’t much help except to suggest that we get Chicken Pot Pies from KFC for Supper.
The suggestion came after we decided that it would be too hot to start cooking in the coach for Supper.  We were hooked up to 30 amps and not enough to run both air conditioners fully, so that seemed like an equitable solution.  We both took off late this afternoon and went downtown to KFC to pick up our supper.  It was an excellent suggestion and very good indeed.
After Supper it was still sweltering until the sun went down and then it started to cool off, and our single air conditioner handled it easily.  Our car thermometer said it was 95 at 5 o’clock.  That’s pretty warm.  It usually doesn’t get this warm while we’re here.  We will be thrilled to move to a 50 amp site at Outdoor Resorts where we can run both of our air units together.
We killed the rest of the night with the TV and went to bed about 10.  It had been a very long day for Sharon.

We had to wait at Catalina until Henrietta finished with my vac dressing this morning.  She was planning on being there at 9 and she was right on time.  About 45 minutes later she was done and we were headed over to Outdoor Resorts with the motorhome.
Terry helped us get settled and we were in and hooked up in no time.  We had decided earlier if we got all straightened out early enough we’d go to the Sunshine Café for Breakfast.  I had never been there before and it was a neat little place and the food was very good.  The waitress was quite personable and they knew Terry and JoAnn
from previous visits.
After Breakfast we came home and waited until 1:30 for a doctor’s appointment.  I had an appointment with Dr. Dezfuli and was hoping this would be the last one.  He’s an Infectious Disease Specialist and since I’m disease-free I shouldn’t have to come back.  When he greeted us I knew this would be our last appointment unless something happened in the future.
When we left the clinic our thermometer on the car was registering 100 degrees.  On the way home it was fluctuating between 102 and 99.  We don’t know how hot it was, but it was HOT.
We had Sliced Kielbasa, Macaroni and Cheese and Baked Beans for Supper.  It was so good and so different to what I’ve been eating for two months.
After Supper we were watching the tube and we heard a knock on the door.  Terry and JoAnn decided to make a visit to their furniture.  It was a very welcome gesture as far as we were concerned.  We sat outside in the cool air and visited for a couple of hours.  The night lights were very pretty and the temp had cooled off nicely.

We were off this morning to Breakfast at a “little bit of Country” Restaurant in downtown Palm Springs.  The place was a ittle dive but the food was excellent.
After we left the restaurant we drove around to find a Stater Brothers that Terry wanted to find on Vista Chino Avenue north of town.  Sharon and JoAnn went in and picked up a few things while we were there.  Terry and I waited in the parking lot.  I really didn’t feel like going in and if they didn’t have a motorized cart I wouldn’t have been able to get around anyway.
On the way home Sharon spotted a church that she might be able to go to  tomorrow afternoon or Sunday morning.
After we sat around for awhile JoAnn stopped over and asked if we wanted to go for a golf cart ride to familiarize us with the park.  I didn’t go but Sharon decided she would take the tour.  It was much too hot out still to ride around in the heat.
After Sharon came back she whipped up some Patty Melts and Fries for our supper but neither of us could finish the sandwich, so we saved them.  They’ll make a nice lunch for us sometime in the near future.
We camped out in front of the TV for the rest of the night.  We had enough entertainment on to keep us busy for the whole night.
The whole night ended at 10 and we both caved for the night.

We were off early this morning to Two Springs RV Resort for the buffet breakfast they serve every Saturday morning.  It’s such a nice Breakfast that one hates to miss it.  We found out this morning there may be only one left before they end it.  One of the ladies that serve it said there would be two left but that they would end it at the end of the month and there’s only one Saturday left, so we’ll see.
After we got home we sat and waited for Henrietta, the “wound nurse” to arrive to change my dressing and check the wound vac.  Shae had trouble getting in the gate so the guard called us and we explained to him why she was here.  She arrived at the motorhome about 10 minutes later.  It took her about 45 minutes to finish up with me and then she was on her way.
A little later Sharon took off for church and Terry and JoAnn brought Carol and Bob over to just sit and chat for awhile.  Bob is a retired Police Officer from the Los Angeles area.  They were here for at least a couple of hours before Sharon came back home.  I was a lousy host cause I couldn’t offer anybody anything cause I couldn’t get it in or out of the coach.  By the time sharon got back everybody was ready for a beer except Terry and me, the non drinkers.
We all decided that it would be a good idea to go to Applebees for Dinner tonight.  They have a couple of specials that are very good and very reasonable.  And tonight was no different.  The meal was too large for me to eat but Sharon managed to finish up her steak which was no surprise.  My little meat-eater.  We had a very good time, and meal, and came straight home when we were done.  I’ll also have enough leftover to have a lunch or a small Dinner.

Sunday, March 17, 2013

We stayed at home this morning and made our own Breakfast for ourselves.  I had my Sunday morning shows to watch this morning and they weren’t too exciting today.
We had a NASCAR race that started at 11 today but I don’t even know where they were.  Besides we weren’t too interested in the race anyway.  I guess I finally heard it was at Bristol in Tennessee.
We were just sitting and watching TV when JoAnn came over and asked if we wanted to go to the pool for awhile.  So for the next couple of hours we went to the pool.  It was quite busy there with a lot of kids.  Which is unusual because this resort has 8 pools scattered throughout the grounds.  Terry and JoAnn found a table and chairs in the shade under an umbrella and it was only a short walk to get to it.
Sharon and JoAnn went in the pool for about 45 minutes but they said the water was cool about 85 degrees.  The outside temp was hovering right around 90 degrees in the sun.  We stayed for a couple of hours before we decided to head back to the air conditioning in the motorhome.
We had leftovers for Supper tonight.  Sharon had Ham, Scalloped Potatoes and Green Beans and I had my ‘Nawlins Skillet” from Applebees the other night.  We were both happy with our offerings.
We sat and watched TV for the rest of the night even though there wasn’t much on tonight.  We had a couple of things taped so that managed to get us through the night until 10.
