It’s cold and windy again but I went out for my walk by 9 am. I go down to the corner store, about 1 mile, and walk around the stop sign that our friend Terry says I have to and come back. I picked up our weekly mail at the office and took care of it when I got home. Went to see Bill at my usual time but he wasn’t in his room. The nurses said he was having an ultra sound. He was back within 10 minutes. He said they cleared his pick line later last night so that was taken care of for now. This morning he had 3 doctors in to see him. His regular doctor, Dr Bir, also his new wound doctor and an infectious disease doctor. He also had an x-ray of both of his legs this morning. So it looks like we are on the right track.
I stopped at Walgreens for a few things on my way home. It’s still very windy out and you can really feel it as you drive. I made ham and scalloped potatoes for supper. It was very good and I will finish the rest tomorrow for supper. Bill called later on to say his wound doctor came in to say he will be doing some cleaning out of his wound tomorrow and will be numbing it to help with any pain. Bill is a little nervous about it all but we hope it will be for the best.

After shower and breakfast, I went for my walk down to the corner and around the ‘stop sign’. Later, I had to clean the front window because some bird decided to relieve himself right in the middle. Not nice to look at when I look at the beautiful mountains through that window. After lunch, I went to see Bill. Dr Gauto was there. He won’t be able to do the surgery today because he has to put him to sleep instead of doing it local. So it is scheduled for tomorrow. I had told the Dr that we have pictures of Bill’s foot from the beginning. He asked if I would bring them. So after my visit, I came home, did a little laundry and then went back to the hospital with the camera and some clothes for Bill.
I finished the ham and scalloped potatoes for supper, put the laundry away and relaxed with some tv.

Up and went for my walk, I’m such a good girl. I left about 11:00 to see Bill. He was being brought down for prep of his surgery about 1pm. Glad I got there early because he went down about noon. I was with him til they took him in at 1:30. Dr Gauto came to see me about 3:30. He said surgery went good and he will check it daily for any further infection. Bill got a spinal so he was wide awake when he came back. He hadn’t had any thing to eat since last night so when they brought the chicken Parmesan, he ate it all. I left about 6pm. Had left overs and crashed.

Awake way to early and could not fall back to sleep. I was having coffee by 5:30. Got my walk in by 8:15. All this early stuff got me down for a nap before noon.
Went to see Bill after lunch. He was very tired when I got there and took an hour nap. The pain meds keep the pain away but make him sleepy too. Dr Gauto had been in and said everything looked good so far. I saw the pictures of the new incisions and they don’t look pretty. But we’re on the right track now. I brought him flowers for Valentines Day. He is my Sweetheart.
I stopped at Albertson’s for a few things and came home. I made a few phone calls to let everyone know what the situation is. I’m hoping the prayers work because Bill needs them all. I had penne pasta with meat balls for supper and relaxed the rest of the evening.

Bill called early to say the Dr was in to check the surgery and said the infection is back and he will have to do surgery today, whenever he can get an operating room. I went there about 10am and stayed till 6:45pm with no news about when the surgery would be. I was half way home and Bill called to say he was going in. I went back and stayed till 10:30 when Dr Gauto came out to talk to me. Again, he hopes he got it all.

I was up early and went to the hospital about 9 so I could be there when Dr Gauto came in to see Bill. I stayed till 4pm and left to go to 5pm Mass. And of course he came an hour after I left. Bill is doing good so far. No dead tissue today.

I went to see Bill this morning. He has diarrhea and could only get to the port-a-pot, so he appreciated me being there to help him. Dr Gauto came in and there is no more dead tissue 2 days in a row. He said we still have a long way to go as Bill has a very large hole in the top of his foot. He will eventually have to have skin grafts done. The vascular surgeon was also there and said he will probably do the artery surgery on Tuesday. I decided to stay with him tonight. They brought in a chair that converted to a cot size bed.
