We had nothing to do or anyplace to go today so I guess this is going to be a “do nothing” day. I was going to have a whole day to do nothing but sit in my recliner and watch TV. For the last 4 or 5 days the wind has prevented me from just sitting and relaxing and watching the tube in the daytime.
I’ll get a chance to work on the Newsletter today and maybe finish it up early this month. Although I usually don’t have a problem finishing it in time because I don’t have a deadline to meet. People just have to wait until I finish it. Ha Ha. I shouldn’t have a problem this month because most of the stories have already been determined. They just have to be written.
Neither of us seemed too ambitious today as Sharon read most of the day except for later on this afternoo0n when she made a meatloaf for Supper. She also baked a couple of potatoes and heated up some corn. I don’t usually eat Baked Potatoes, but tonight I made an exception, so she wouldn’t have to fry potatoes for me. And besides Meatloaf is one of my fav’s.
By the time we made it to nightfall tonight we had a full itinerary to watch on TV. American Chopper has been on for a couple of weeks and we caught up on the old ones tonight. Then we switched back and forth from tapes to live and back again. It took us nicely to 11 o’clock until we marched into slumberland for the night.

We were off to town this morning to do some grocery shopping for the week. I don’t usually go with her unless I sit in the car and wait for her. But this morning I was going to walk through the store with her and see how I did. We didn’t have much to pick up this morning but I wanted to walk in the store anyway. It’s been since my back surgery that I’ve been able to do that. I managed to walk through the whole store but I was hurting by the time I got back to the car.
We came back home and ate lunch and debated about going to the pool this afternoon. We haven’t been close to the pool since we left for Yuma on the 31st of January. Three weeks away from the pool is not like us. We usually go at least a couple of times while we’re in Yuma.
We finally decided we would get in the car and drive over to Catalina today to hit the pool and we were glad we did. We saw a few of our friends whom we hadn’t seen since we left here 3 weeks ago. We stayed at the pool til around 4:45 and then came back home.
Sharon sat down and had something for Supper but I wasn’t hungry so I did without. We played our usual game of Jeopardy on tape and then settled in for our evening’s entertainment on the tube.
We had several of our usual shows on tonight so it wasn’t much of a chore to get to bedtime tonight. In fact we still had a program on tape when we went to bed. We’ll watch it tomorrow night if we run short of shows.

Today was an official “Taco Wednesday” but we had different plans for today. We had spoken to Corky and Deb Zimmermann last week about going to the Elks Club in Desert Hot Springs for lunch today. They were members at the club and they hadn’t paid their dues yet, so they would take care of that today.
They finally found us, and picked us up at about 11. We were sure that we had told them that we were at Desert Pools when we talked to them, but either we didn’t mention it or they forgot. Either way they managed to find us in the end. And we didn’t miss a meal waiting for them either.
Apparently the Elks has been having lunches there since January but when we arrived we seemed to be the only ones in th parking lot. It wasn’t long before a smattering of people showed up and sat at the bar to have lunch. It wasn’t a great crowd for a luncheon that’s been going on for a month. The food however, was very good. We had a Patty Melt on Rye with Swiss Cheese and Fries. There were no complaints that I heard about the food. The Chef actually came out and asked us how everything was. And everything was just fine.
We stopped at Two Springs RV Park when we left the Elks and found out they’re doing Breakfast on Saturdays for $6 a person. Apparently they have quite the menu, including omelettes, on Saturdays. I think maybe we might try it this Saturday just to see if it’s any good. We don’t have a cheap place in the valley for Breakfast anymore since the casinos raised their prices.
On the way home we asked Corky and Deb if they wanted to stop in for an adult beverage. They did and we spent the next couple of hours shootin’ the bull and talking about everything under the sun. Mostly Grandchildren and the Fire Service.
By the time we got done saving the world it was about 3 in the afternoon. Corky and Deb left and we talked about going to the pool for the rest of the afternoon. But it was kind of late so we opted out for today.
We were still full from lunch so a couple of snacks while we watched Jeopardy held us over til we finally fixed ourselves something to eat. Sharon had Bratwurst and I had a fried meatloaf sandwich.
We camped in front of the tube for the night and by 8 o’clock the Republican Debate was on TV. It wasn’t a very exciting debate and I still think that Mitt Romney is trying to buy the nomination. He never has a new idea and his arguments are always the same. Oh well.
We watched two hours of tape after the debate was over and retired to the padded room about 11.

We were off this morning to the Cottage Too for Breakfast with Terry, Jo-Anne, Dale and Dick Smith. We had gotten a call last night asking us if we were interested in going. So we lit out this morning early only to find ourselves behind slow traffic on all the roads that we decided to take to the restaurant. Every time we turned off, to make time, another slow vehicle was in front of us. We finally made it to our destination a couple of minutes after 9
We found out during Breakfast that Dick is now at Catalina which we didn’t think he was moving that early. In any event we also decided that we would go to the Jackalope on Monday so we’ll pick him up on the way over there
After Breakfast we stopped at K-Mart and Sharon went in and did a little shopping for herself. She had picked up some make-up at the dollar store the other day that she wasn’t happy with. Apparently it cost more than a dollar to make her look good. Priceless!
She was working on her puzzle for most of the rest of the morning until it was time to go to the pool. We had made up our minds early today that we were going for a dip for the afternoon. Besides I wanted to talk to Terry Brown about some problems I was having with the Sync in my car. I think that my problems are caused by the fact we’ve never had Sync before and never had the opportunity to use it. So I was hoping that he’d be here so I could quiz him. He and Diana came late, but they did come, so I managed to get some information that I needed.
After we got home tonight we decided that we were going to have a DiGiorno’s Pizza that’s been riding around in the freezer for at least a couple of weeks. After trying several frozen pizzas we finally decided that the DiGiorno’s is far and way the best.
We were supposed to get a wind advisory tonight and we were thinking that TV would be out of the question tonight. But the wind held off all night during prime time, and we were entertained all night with the TV. In fact for some reason we had quite a bit of stuff on tape so we even watched that tonight. I was watching TV and Sharon was working on a new jigsaw puzzle for most of the night tonight. We looked at the clock at 11 however, and wondered why we were still up. We dashed off rearward shortly after our observation of the time.

After Breakfast this morning we headed out to Cathedral City to do some shopping at Wal-Mart and Home Depot.
On the way over we tried to make a phone call with the Sync in the car and were getting more frustrated by the minute. Apparently we’ve got a device that’s smarter than we are. Sharon looked in the manual and we finally got it all straightened out. By the time we started on our way back home we were making phone calls.
We bought quite a few groceries at Wal-Mart and the price was a bit cheaper than at the groceries in town. In fact eggs were a dollar a dozen cheaper. Not that we eat that many eggs but if eggs are cheaper, the chances are that other things are less expensive also. When we left Wal-Mart I was too whipped to do Home Depot today. Our stop there wasn’t that important anyway. I wanted to see if I could find some small torsion springs for our spring-loaded bathroom door. I bought a new hinge before we left this year but if I can find the springs cheap enough I’ll repair the hinges I’ve bought before. So I just need to look over the next couple of weeks to see if I can find them.
We ate some corn dogs for lunch today that we picked up at Wal-Mart while we were there. It’s been a while since we’ve had Corn Dogs and they were quite good. We’ve had their corn dogs before and we liked them. Sharon also picked up a couple of Deep Fried Jalapenos with Cream Cheese inside for lunch also. I thought the peppers had too much cheese in them but were quite good.
We left for the pool around 3 and spent a couple of hours over there. We needed to get back around suppertime cause Sharon was planning to Deep Fry Catfish and Tater Tots for Supper tonight. We also grated up some cabbage for Cole Slaw from the farm tour that we took a couple of weeks ago. Everything would have been good except that the Catfish was not up to our standards. Even after tasting several pieces it just didn’t taste right. It was edible but certainly not palatable. We both figured it would be a popcorn night tonight. But actually we found other things to snack on. I had about 5 mint-flavored oreo cookies and Sharon ate a piece of fruit.
We were planted in front of the tube for the night even though the only two regular shows on tonight were Fringe and Blue Bloods. We had sat down for Dinner tonight so late that those two shows took us right up to crash-and-burn time. Besides we were getting up early for Breakfast tomorrow anyway.

We were off early this morning headed west. We would be going to 2 Springs RV Resort for their $6 Buffet Breakfast. We had just heard about it this week when we were at the Elks for lunch last Wednesday. Apparently the Resort has been doing their Breakfast for the last few years and we just heard about it. So today we were going to check it out and report our findings. We were going to be just like a government subcommittee, except we’d be telling the truth.
We found the Breakfast to be just as non-advertised. It was $6 unless you forget your plate and silverware like we did, and then it’s $7 apiece. The food was good and it was all you can eat. The place was pretty crowded with happy diners. And they do the Breakfast every Saturday until the end of March and they’ve been doing it since 2006. We felt more than welcome as outsiders in the park.
After Breakfast we stopped at a couple of Rummage Sales on the way back home. We really hadn’t been rummaging since we left home and we really didn’t find anything we couldn’t live without. We only stopped at the sales cause they were on the way home from Breakfast.
After getting home, we sat around and relaxed for a while and watched some tube before we took off for the pool and to make our “Breakfast Report” known to our friends. A good thing needs to be spread around. And besides we’re all looking for a good deal.
We left for the pool right after Sharon’s nap. We spent a couple of hours in the water which the temperature has been turned down a few degrees. It was so warm in the water a month ago that it wasn’t even refreshing to get into it.
We left the pool early so that Sharon could whip up our supper. She had already made up a new chicken recipe with a ton of ingredients and tossed it into the Crock Pot. When we got back it smelled really good in the motorhome. After we finished up with our meal it made a lot of sense for it to smell so good in here when we got home. We had the chicken and Rice and canned corn. It was all quite good for a new recipe. I can’t think of a thing I would have changed.
There wasn’t much on the Telly tonight so it was going to be a night of surfing the channels. We were successful doing it, however, and it took us up to the time where we didn’t care anymore. So we just “didn’t care” ourselves right into bed.

Sharon was off to church this morning in a hurry having gotten up a little late. I positioned myself in front of the TV so I could catch all my Sunday morning political shows. They used to be called news shows but they haven’t been that for years. They lie to the American public and puff up this lying President just like they do everyday, except that on Sundays people are actually watching them.
By the time Sharon got back the Daytona 500 was having a problem getting the track dried out to have the race. By 5 PM EST the finally gave up and postponed the race until tomorrow. It was the first time it had been cancelled in 50 years.
Our plan for today was to go to the Jackalope for Happy hour at 3 o’clock and then snack for supper on their appetizers. We had planned on picking up Dick Smith at Catalina and then driving the 25 miles to Indio and get there right at 3 PM. While the other day we had a problem finding the restaurant, we managed to drive right to it today. I’m a quick learner for going the wrong direction.
The restaurant was as unique and attractive that Terry and Jo-Anne had been telling us about. They had arrived just before us and were being seated as we walked in. They had secured a table on the patio which resembled a tropical jungle with tables and umbrellas. While the rest of the restaurant was empty, the patio was filling up quickly. The Happy Hour prices are good throughout the restaurant, however, unlike the Elephant Bar where the prices are only good at the bar. The drinks are fancier at the Elephant Bar though, and only half price. We ate the Happy Hour food which was really quite good even though it wasn’t really anything special. But the eight of us certainly had a good time for the two hours that we were there. Terry and Jo-Anne had brought a couple of friends and then it was Dick, Sharon and me.
When we left the bar we came straight home and dropped Dick off at Catalina and said our good-byes. He’ll be leaving tomorrow or Tuesday depending on the weather. But now that they postponed Daytona he may stick around all day Monday and watch the race.
We got home tonight and camped in front of the tube for the night. The Academy Awards were on tonight so we surfed back and forth from that to every other repeat that was on. We both decided to retire early tonight and by 9:45 we were in the sack trying to slumber.
