After Breakfast this morning Sharon took off with the laundry to catch up with that before our move to Catalina tomorrow.
We didn’t even have the urge to go to the pool today as the sky was overcast for most of the day and the wind was also gusting quite hard.  For some reason the wind wasn’t really affecting the dish, except occasionally, for most of the day.
Sharon was back again at lunchtime so we sat down and scarfed up leftovers.  We had quite a few of them since we have been eating a few meals out lately.
The weather had really not cleared up this afternoon and by suppertime had really rained a few drops.  Not enough to make a rainstorm, but just enough to explain what the sky looked like most of the day.
In the afternoon Sharon whipped up a batch of Stuffed Cabbage Rolls for supper tonight.  We had that along with Creamed Corn and Squash.  Everything was quite good indeed.
They finally got the Daytona 500 under way later on today and we surfed back and forth watching it tonight.  Matt Kenseth from Wisconsin was the final victor.  It was quite the 500 by the time the finish rolled around.  They even had a car crash into one of the maintenance trucks that was drying out the track, and had a big fire.  Anyone watching the race certainly got their money’s worth even though it was a day late.
For the rest of the night we surfed back and forth and to and fro to find some programs to watch.  The wind was finally playing hell with the dish by the time we made it to 10 o’clock.  The receiver had reset itself about 4 times before we finally gave up on it at 10.  B that time we were tired of playing with it and ready to just go to bed.

We got ourselves and our rig ready to move this morning back to Catalina.  It didn’t take too long since the only thing we had outside were chairs and a couple of tables.  In fact by 9:30 we were moved and settled into our new site.  Obviously it doesn’t take too long to move to Cat Spa from Desert Pools.  As before, we pretty much had our choice of sites.  The campground is no where near as busy as it once was.  I think that the cost of “outweeks” has gone up so much that people are just refusing to buy them.
It was cold out again this morning with the forecast not looking very promising at all.  The last two days were not conducive to going to the pool so we stayed home.
We had a couple of things to pick up in town today so we stopped at McDonald’s and had a Big Mac Combo for lunch.  Sharon also had a Hot Fudge Sundae and I had a couple of cherry pies for dessert.  We stopped at Von’s to pick up a couple of groceries before we swung by the Post Office and mailed a couple of letters on our way back home.
There was evidence that the price of gas was still rising this morning.  Although the price has always been ridiculous here in California, But now it’s becoming ultra ridiculous.  I think the direction that we take back home will be determined in the next week or so.  And right now it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing Oregon and Washington anytime soon.  Gas here is $4.16 in town and the national average is $3.73 and still rising.
It didn’t warm up enough to convince us to go to the pool this afternoon so we just sat at home in front of the tube and caught up on taped shows.
Neither of us was hungry for supper tonight so we just fixed ourselves a snack and let it go at that.  Besides we were content in just sitting in our usual positions and just being entertained tonight.  It worked quite well for the most part until we ran out of normal shows.  We also caught a show on Area 51 and another on the disaster of the Costa Concordia cruise ship that went down recently when it hit a rock.  We were ready for the rack, however, when 10 o’clock rolled around.

We awoke to another “cold and blustery” day today.  The wind was having another heyday with the palm trees in the park.  I am going to be surprised if we don’t find broken branches in the park tomorrow.
Sharon got up this morning all stuffed up and having been up last night coughing and choking during the night.  This looks like the same thing that started last year for us.  First she got sick and then I followed her for the next couple of weeks.  It wasn’t until we realized that it was allergies that we both got cleared up and back on track.  We were miserable for at least a month before we realized what was happening.
Today looked like it was going to be a TV watching day all day today.  It really wasn’t nice enough out to do anything in the wind.  Sharon laid on the couch for most of the afternoon trying to rest up from last night.  I was certainly content to relax in my recliner for the afternoon.
Later on in the afternoon I went out and dumped our holding tanks.  It had been too windy and too cold to do it over the last couple of days, but today seemed like a good time to get it taken care of.  Our tanks didn’t need dumping, but Sharon had bought 2-ply tissue on her last trip to the grocery store and I wanted to get that out of the tank.  I got it all flushed out quite nicely without a problem.
We sat and waited for Phil and Joyce to arrive back in the park today , but we must have gotten our communications crossed along the way.  There was no appearance of them all day and when they called in the evening they didn’t mention not arriving today.  We spoke for about 5 minutes about the weather, and I told him about the wind.  They weren’t having any wind where they were at.  Go figure.
We both settled for leftovers for supper tonight.  Sharon didn’t feel like cooking and neither did I.  It didn’t matter because the leftovers were still good.
We camped in front of the TV tonight even though the wind was whistling pretty good.  Sharon was horizontal on the couch but I watched the box.  We’re parked in a different direction than we were at Desert Pools and the wind is barely affecting the dish.  This is a good thing.  Sharon whisked herself off to bed about 8:30 but I hung in there until 10:30.

We awoke this morning to the howling wind.  It had been blowing all night and there didn’t seem to be any relief anytime today.
We were on the road this morning headed to Desert Hot Springs and Breakfast at the Cottage Too.  Terry and Jo-Anne picked us up about 9 for a day of sightseeing.  We had planned on Breakfast and then driving up to Yucca Valley to visit Pioneertown which is an old western town that hundreds of movies and commercials have been filmed over the past 50 years.
After Breakfast we headed “up” the mountain to get to Yucca Valley.  Pioneertown was no more than 30 miles from Desert Hot Springs but we had only heard of it last week.  We had also heard that they had a fire up there which decimated part of the town.  We assumed after we saw the place they meant the Sawtooth Fire that swept through the brush up there.  There was no damage to the town as everything was still in tact and no evidence that the fire ever touched the town.  When we heard about the fire it never deterred us for an instant. We were glad we didn’t listen to the rumors.
The town consists of about 20 buildings still standing in very good shape and in the “architecture” of the old west.  The few buildings that appeared to be open part-time were closed today which didn’t bother our visit at all.  Our intent was only to walk through the town and take pictures.  We stopped at Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace which was a bar and restaurant located in Pioneertown.  We weren’t hungry, since we had just had Breakfast an hour before,  but we stopped inside and took pictures for posterity.  The batteries went dead on our snapshot camera and on Jo-Anne’s so we drove the 4 miles back into town to pick some up.  Terry wanted to stop in town at the JC Penney Store to see if his “spring collection” was in stock.  So while Sharon was in Wal-Mart getting batteries, Terry and Jo-Anne were in Penney’s shopping.  I waited patiently in the car for everybody to finish.
On our way back to Pioneertown we stopped at McDonald’s for a snack.  Everybody else had Ice Cream and I had a couple of Cherry Pies.  After we finished up there we headed back to Pioneertown, and after we got back, we took the remainder of pictures that we wanted and moved on.
We headed back down the mountain and toward home.  When we got back Phil and Joyce Bach had already arrived and were settled into their site.  We stopped over for about an hour and talked.  This was the first time this year that the Bertaminis and Bachs had seen each other.
When Terry and Jo-Anne left we decided to come back home also.
The wind had not died down one iota and even gotten worse since we left this morning.  Sharon decided that she would take the bull by the horns and hook up the cable for tonight.  The wind was blowing so hard that even the parks satellite was being affected tonight.  Nowhere near as much as our dish would be going out, but we noticed a few blips as we watched tonight.  The bad part was that we had to watch TV until 11 in order to get our regular programs complete.  We didn’t have anything else to do however.

We took off this morning on a rummage sale trip to two of the bigger parks in the area.  We were able to drive through both of them so they were right up my alley.  Our first stop was at Dillon Estates and I actually found something to buy in there.  At one of the places someone was selling a hitch to fit my receiver on the car for $4.  Phil found it and I snatched it up immediately.  I’d be hared-pressed to find another one at that price anywhere.  It didn’t have a ball with it but I have extras at home.  Sharon found an American Chopper garbage can with the “firebike” on it.  As luck would have it, that was the t-shirt I was wearing today.
After leaving Dillon Estates we went across the street to Desert Crest Mobile Home Park but none of us could find anything we couldn’t live without.  It took us a while to get through the park though cause the map was confusing and Phil was having a hard time keeping us on track.
By the time we got done and came back home it was almost time for lunch.  Sharon mad us up some Scrambled Egg Sandwiches for lunch.  After lunch we sat and watched the tube for a little while before we headed off for the pool for the afternoon.
By the time we left for the pool the wind had died down somewhat   It was much more pleasant than it had been over the past few days with the wind just blowing up a gale.
We were at the pool for at least a couple of hours this afternoon and everybody was there.  From what we heard they’ve been there for the last couple of days too.  We couldn’t bring ourselves to the pool with all the wind.  When we got home we set up the dish for our evening’s entertainment tonight.  It seems as though we’ll be able to watch our own satellite TV tonight.
Sharon made Grilled Patty Melts for Supper tonight.  We also had homemade French Fries to go along with it.  It was quite good indeed.  Patty Melts are one of my favorites.
We settled in to watch the tube for the night knowing that we’d be going to bed on time tonight.  In fact we were surfing in order to find enough to watch all night.  But we eventually made it to 10 and after that it didn’t matter anymore.

Saturday, March 3, 2012

We were off early this morning when Phil and Joyce picked us up heading toward 2 Springs RV Resort for their $6 Buffet Breakfast.  We enjoyed it so much last week we thought we’d try it again to see if it was a mirage or not.  This week we had mentioned it to Terry and Jo-Anne also, and they were expected to meet us there.  We arrived at 8:45 which seemed to be the optimum time this morning since we had no trouble finding a place for 7 of us to sit.  Terry and Jo-Anne were late and we thought they might have opted out when they came in at 8.  They had brought Dale with them but we still had enough room for 8 at our table.
We all sat down, and began eating, and the Breakfast was at least as good, if not better than last week.  We definitely had more friends to talk to this week.  I was again full this week before I got a chance to try the French Toast.  Well, there’s always next week.
We left 2-Springs today with eating plans for next week.  Monday will be at Applebee’s for their “two for twenty” and Tuesday we’ll go to Almar Acres for the all-you-can-eat soup.  They usually have about 4 varieties.
We came home the long way today since Phil was driving.  You’re always on the scenic tour when Phil drives.  We made a couple brief stops on the way but we made it home in about 20 minutes.  Sharon and I made it just in time for a needed bathroom break.  I don’t know what it is, but Breakfast seems to go through us like the Bullet Train through Tokyo.
We sat and relaxed a couple of hours before we transformed ourselves and got ready to go to the pool for the afternoon.  There was no substantial wind today and the sun was shining which made it a perfect day for floating with our noodles.  The pool was quite crowded today which gave the indication that most people agreed that it was a good day for the pool.
We stayed at the pool til about 4:30 and then came home.  Sharon was in a rush to get home cause she was having steak for Supper tonight.  I don’t get excited about steak so I was in no particular hurry to get home.  I did however make it home about 10 minutes after her.
We had Filet Mignon with Baked Potato and Lettuce Salad and Garlic Bread.  It was quite good but certainly not one of my favorites.  But sometimes you have to take one for the team.  I’ve now done my share.  We can go back to the food that I like.
There wasn’t much on TV tonight except repeats but we managed to get by without watching a pre-recorded movie tonight.  With this political crap on the tube every  night, we very seldom get to watch a regular program anymore.  If it’s not political, it’s some stupid awards show with Hollywood patting themselves on the back.  It was a pleasurable relief to get to our usual bed time tonight.

Sunday, March 4, 2012

Sharon was up and off to meet God this morning while I settled in front of the  TV to listen to the Godless.  The lawyers and liars were out in full force this morning on all my political shows.  At least the sun was shining this morning and promising to be a lovely day, leaving the wind behind for the second day.
I printed up the hard copy of the Newsletter this morning to get it off in the mail for the people who don’t have computers.  At this point I’m up to 60 Newsletters that I either print or send out through e-mail.
By the time Sharon got back this morning it was already starting to get warm for the day.  It kept on warming up until we finally had to turn on the air conditioner.
Sharon cleaned up the hacienda today before we sat down and made ourselves lunch.  We didn’t have much left in the joint to eat, so we just scared up a few things to carry us over.  Usually we have a ton of leftovers that we just heat up for lunch, but over the past few days we’ve been chowing them down also.
By two o’clock this afternoon we got ourselves ready and headed for the pool for the afternoon.  The pool was moderately crowded today but all of our friends were there, even though the Browns and Parents had to leave early having made plans for the night.
We left the pool around 4:30 and made our way back to our coach where we sat down to Tacos for Supper.
Our entertainment for the night would be the TV and an empty schedule for the night.  It been a long time since the TV offerings were this lame.  Although we did manage to get through the night without having to watch a movie that was taped.  As a matter of fact we didn’t go to bed until 11 and neither of us knows how that happened.  Oh well, just go and figure.
