We had one of our best nights last night for sleeping. We both woke up well rested and bushy-tailed. Sharon took off for her Curves class while I started picking up and shutting down the motorhome for travel.
By the time she got back we were almost ready to make the move to Desert Pools RV Resort. Because it’s only a mile down the road, it doesn’t take long to get there, or to finally get set up once we’re there.
We waited til we got here before we ate Breakfast I needed to dump the holding tanks also, but I decided to wait until tomorrow for the big flush.
After lunch we headed over to our home park (Catalina Spa) and the swimming pool. Terry and Diana Brown were just arriving from Michigan as we strode up to the pool. We said our hellos and went into the pool together. The pool seems to be getting cooler every day. I think it’s still over 90 but it just seems to be a little cooler every day.
We stayed at the pool til almost suppertime this afternoon. We had leftover KFC for supper tonight. It was still pretty good. Afterwards we just settled in front of the TV for the night. We had nothing else to do or anyplace else to go so we would just sit and watch the tube til it was time to go to bed.

We had talked to Terry and Jo-Anne last night about going to Breakfast with us this morning. We found out in the pool yesterday that they were still at Catalina. We’ve been out of contact with everybody for a couple of days and thought they moved to Indian Waters when we moved to Desert Pools. Anyhow they were still staying put and agreed to meet us at the Cottage Too this morning. They brought Dale and Barbara and we had a very nice Breakfast indeed.
On the way home we stopped at K-Mart and at the Chinese Bakery and picked up some Apple Fritters, and then stopped over to Caliente Springs to see Dale and Barb’s motorhome. They’ve got one of those configurations with the truck chassis on the front and the RV section on the back. Generally referred to as an upscale Class C. It was very nice but not something I would be interested in. We sat down to coffee and Apple Fritters, that Terry had bought, and when we were finished we headed for home.
After relaxing at home for about an hour, digesting my Breakfast, I decided it was time to go out and dump the holding tanks. It didn’t take too long to complete but it was a job that had to be done. One of those dirty, thankless things.
After Sharon checked e-mail and read her newspaper, it was time to go to the pool for the afternoon. All the usual suspects were there this afternoon, but the pool seemed a little cooler than yesterday. I don’t know if it’s my imagination or if it really is getting cooler but everybody seems to notice the same thing. It really didn’t matter cause we stayed until our regular time anyway. Roy Parent gave me a business card for the Mi Rancho Restaurant in Yuma, Arizona. He’s been trying to tell us about this restaurant for a couple of years but could never remember the name. Now we know exactly where it is at 27th and 4th Avenue.
Sharon whipped up a Meatloaf for supper tonight. She also made Broasted Potatoes with melted Butter and Creamed Corn. Now I’ll have leftover Meatloaf for sandwiches over the next couple of days. Yum, Yum.
There was Karaoke at the Clubhouse tonight, but I thought it was best to stay at home and not irritate my throat. Last night was the first time I had slept all night without coughing and I didn’t want to mess that up. We’ve both been sick for too long. So we just stayed home and camped in front of the TV for the night. It just so happened that tonight was an unusually bad night for the Telly. But we managed to surf enough to watch until 10.

The weather was supposed to warm up some more today. It’s hard to tell at 6 when I get up but I did have sunshine.
It was also Taco Wednesday today and we would be going to the VFW by ourselves today since everybody is now somewhere else. Phil and Joyce are down in Yuma and Terry and Jo-Anne left today for Indio.
I finally got out the printer today and finished up the Newsletters that I would mail out. We only have 7 to mail and the rest we send out in e-mail. It get to be kind of a pain to mail them out, but some people don’t have e-mail. After getting those all ready to go it was around noon and time to go for lunch.
We managed to find a good parking place at the club but when we got inside, it wasn’t so easy to find a seat. We finally managed 2 chairs between a couple of groups of people. They made us feel right at home as they carried us into their conversations. It was quite busy indeed today.
When we left we had planned to go to the pool today but somehow after two pitchers of beer we had other plans in mind. We went directly home and then took a nap for ourselves while we watched TV. We never did make it to the pool this afternoon.
By tonight we were just content to sit and watch the Tube. Jo-Anne called and asked if we’d pick up Dale and Barb tomorrow on our way to the FMCA Rally. We agreed and we’ll stop over and pick them up at 9, and then go to Terry and Jo-Anne’s after we leave the Rally for a BBQ.
We caved for the night, after we reached our optimum time tonight at 10. Besides the shows on tonight, including the President’s speech, weren’t enough to hold my interest past 10.

We were on the road and rolling this morning on our way to Indio for the FMCA Rally being held there. We stopped and picked up Dale and Barb on the way since they couldn’t find the Fairgrounds yesterday.
It took us about a half hour to get to the Fairgrounds and got right in and found a parking place. We usually go to the Rally with Phil and Joyce Bach but they’re in Yuma this year. We will meet Terry and Jo-Anne inside the Rally Grounds. As we got to the Central Area of the grounds, Terry and Jo-Anne were waiting for us.
For the next couple of hours we wandered around through the vendors checking out all the new stuff for this year. For the most part we’ve seen everything they’ve got here, but there’s always a few new things to look at, or even to be aware that they exist.
After the vendors Sharon and I sat and had an ice cream cone while we waited for the others to finish what they were doing. I also decided I wanted to look for the new Winnebago Cambria to see what it looked like in person, so to speak. But I had no luck finding one so I was pretty much done for the day.
Terry and Jo-Anne had invited us over to their campground for a cook-out after w were done at the Rally. They had walked over from Indian Waters so we took the tram up to Dr. Carreon Drive and dropped them off before we rode the tram back to our car.
We stopped at their campground for the next couple of hours and had grilled burgers and beverages. It was quite good since all of us were hungry by then, having had no lunch. The food at the Rally is quite pricey unless you have a coupon provided by the FMCA. We didn’t have any coupons so we didn’t have anything to eat there.
We stayed at Terry and Jo-Anne’s for a couple of hours but we were back home by 4:30. Sharon immediately grabbed our laundry and headed over to the Laundromat. She was gone for a couple of hours but really got done quickly today. She was back home before the TV programming really started for the night. And actually she could have taken her time because all the shows were still repeats tonight. I don’t know when they’re going to get back to regular programming again.

We had nothing special on the agenda today. Sharon took off for Curves early and then stopped and did some shopping on her way back home. I had her mail out the Newsletters on her way out of the park this morning. I’ve really been slack about getting them out this month. By sending out the vast majority of them in a .pdf e-mail, I’m a little lazy about getting the 7 additional that I need, printed and mailed.
At lunchtime we had homemade Sub Sandwiches and chips from the stuff that Sharon picked up this morning at the grocery store.
After lunch and a quick nap, we headed over to Catalina and the swimming pool. The weather today was actually very nice indeed. It’s expected to get into the 70's but of course the pool is about 20 degrees warmer. We stayed until about 4 o’clock when it started getting a little chilly outside.
Tonight for Supper Sharon was frying up some Cod and Potatoes, and I had some Cole Slaw and Creamed Corn. Sharon was proud that she had strategically forced two vegetables into me tonight. She had a lettuce salad, and supper was quite good tonight.
After Dinner we settled in front of the tube to watch, what I hope, is our last week of repeats. Man these re-runs really get old after a while. It seems like they last longer and longer every year. There was enough to surf a night’s entertainment though.

This is our last day at Desert Pools RV and we’ll need to get used to the idea that we’ll be staying out on the road on Sunday night. We’ve tried every configuration to stay another day here but it hasn’t worked. So we’ll stay this last day and then boondock out on the road for one night and then move into Catalina on Monday. We’ve had this one day hanging since we spent an extra week in Casa Grande over Christmas. It’s just now surfacing, and if we deal with it now, we won’t have to deal with it later on. It’s more of a minor annoyance than it is a major problem.
Sharon made BLT’s for lunch today that were really good. We don’t have them often, but when we do have them they seem to fit in just right.
After lunch we headed over to the pool early today. The Packer Play-off game would be on at 5 o’clock and we didn’t want to miss even a minute of it. The weather was supposed to reach 80 degrees today and by the time we got to the pool it was clearly evident that if it didn’t make it than it would probably be close. Our usual group in the pool was all there today. Even Terry and Jo-Anne came over with Dale and Barb for a dip. Apparently they had been working on Dales electrical this afternoon. I was just about leaving the pool as they were arriving.
We got home about an hour before the game started, and finished watching the first play-off game. The Ravens got beat by the Steelers. The Packer game was a lovely thing to behold. After they lost the ball and ended up 7 points behind, it was all Packers from then on. We were very happy for the outcome. They will now go to the NFC Conference Championship next week.
Sharon whipped up burgers for Supper along with some Steakhouse Beans tonight and it was very good. My burger was too big and I was miserable after eating it, but I should have just put about half of it aside for later.
We were surfing for the rest of the night after the game and found enough to watch to entertain us for the remainder of our awake time.

Sharon was off to church early this morning since this was moving day today. By the time she got back, from church and shopping, the wolves were already at the door looking for our site. It wasn’t a problem since th time we were going to move was pretty much going to be determined by the campground anyway. Apparently they wanted us out by 11, the actual check-out time. She put away the groceries and we were on our way by 11:15.
We took up residence for the day half-way down Corkill Road on our way to Catalina. This would be our home for the next 20 or so hours.
We ate our lunch and it wasn’t long after that we took off for the pool at Catalina. We locked up the motorhome and just left it there on the side of the road. This is actually a favorite camping place for many a rig during the winter. We see people camped here for a day or so all winter long. Whenever they have an extra day without a reservation or no place to stay for the night.
The pool contained all the usual suspects today, although Terry and Jo-Anne didn’t come over from Indian Waters. They probably had something else to do today with Dale and Barb. We stayed late at the pool today since we knew that we were going to be on batteries when we got home. We took a ride around Catalina to see what was available for tomorrow morning when we come into the park. There seems to be enough open spots scattered here and there so we shouldn’t have a problem getting into one of them.
After we got home tonight we found out that New England lost their bid to stay in the Super Bowl race. So the top seeds have all been eliminated this year. The Lombard Trophy is up for grabs to the team that wants it the most. Green Bay has just as good a shot as anybody.
We watched TV on batteries tonight until they gave out about 8:30 and then we had to start the generator. We left the generator on for the rest of the night, until we rolled into the sack at 10.
