Sharon took off for Curves this morning as soon as she got up. I was working on my Journal when she walked out, and by the time she got back I was working on the Newsletter.
I knew she was planning on doing laundry this morning and as soon as she got back and had Breakfast she took off again. She was headed for Sam’s Town Campground just down the road where they have tons of washers and dryers so she won’t have to wait for machines.
As she walked out I was headed into the shower to get ready for the day. I noticed that the shower head wasn’t spraying very well so when I got done I took that apart and cleaned it out. It really wasn’t that bad but it just wasn’t spraying right. We’ll see if I made a difference when tomorrow rolls around.
Before she came back home I gave her a call to see if she wanted to go to In-n-Out Burger for lunch today. She was game and I knew she would be. It’s been a month or so since we’ve been there for a burger.
We were so close to Outdoor Resorts that we decided to take a run over and see Terry and Jo-Anne while we were in the neighborhood. We only stayed for about an hour before we got in the car and motored back home.
By the time we got back home it was a little late for going to the pool so we decided we would opt out for the day. Besides the wind was probably creating whitecaps on the pool anyway. And it was almost time for our usual game of Jeopardy today.
Today was the day that Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings were going to play with Watson the IBM computer. They finished the day with Rutter tied with the computer and Jennings behind. I feel that the categories favor the computer slightly. I didn’t see any cutesy categories yet. The kind, Jeopardy is famous for.
I was camped in front of the TV for the rest of the night and was taping all night long. By 10 we had watched at least 3 hours of taped shows. Thank God for the DVR. We still have a couple more shows that we haven’t seen yet, and if I had a second DVR I would ave more than that. The fact that we have East/West Networks on our DirecTV is also very helpful for catching all the shows.

Sharon was up and off on a walk this morning. I don’t know where she went, but it sure took her a .long time to get there and back. It was a nice looking day today but the wind was blowing and threatening to be the same all day today.
We really didn’t have anything on our agenda for today, and it showed. By the time Sharon got back from her walk I was camped out in the recliner watching TV. I really didn’t care that I didn’t have anything to do today. I will find something to do whether I like it or not.
In fact after taking my shower and getting cleaned up for the day I noticed that our Black Water tank was full and needed dumping. Whenever you figure that you don’t have anything to do, something always manages to come up that changes your mind. I’m not doing that til this afternoon though, when I’m really bored.
At lunchtime we just fended for ourselves since we really didn’t have any leftovers to munch on. We didn’t eat supper last night after our trip to In-n-Out Burger yesterday.
This afternoon the wind was still howling and it was even affecting the dish and our TV. We decided that we’d rather watch TV than fight the waves in the pool, so we stayed home this afternoon in the protection of the motorhome.
By the time Jeopardy came on the wind had died down some, but not completely. Our TV would go blank every once in a while. I was not completely convinced that the game with the computer was on the up and up. I don’t think any consideration was given for the delay in reaction times of the humans. And I never go a whole game without knowing at least half the answers. And the category for final Jeopardy was “U.S. Cities,’ The clue was, “this City has two airports, one named after a war hero and the other after a battle.” I knew the answer immediately as Chicago. The two humans came up with the right answer and the computer said “Toronto.” I wonder when Toronto moved to the U.S.?
We managed to dance around the wind all night with our programming tonight, and there were a couple of times when the wind let up just enough to record a program. It managed to take us all the way to 10 which was a good thing. There was Karaoke tonight at the Upper Clubhouse but at 7 I really didn’t feel like going.

We woke up this morning and the wind was still with us for the day. Apparently its planning on sticking around til after Saturday when it’s planning on raining. This sounds like it’s going to be a lovely week.
Sharon was off on her walk this morning even in the wind. By the time she got back she looked like she had been rode hard and put away wet. She also stopped around the park for the people who had their junk out to sell this morning. It was patio sale today in the park. I don’t usually go anymore because the junk they put out is not worth the pain I get in my back from walking. So I sat at home and waited til she got back. While she was gone I took my shower and got cleaned up for Taco Wednesday.
We got a phone call from Terry and Jo-Anne today saying that both of them came down sick today and that the rib dinner for tomorrow night was off for now. I can feel for them, having gotten sick several times this year until I found out it was allergies.
At noon we took off for the VFW for our Tacos and Beer today. We didn’t have anyone to meet us over there today, so we went by ourselves. The place was already starting to clear out by 12:15. After we arrived a group of about 20 showed up from another campground. The lady sitting next to me said they had to finish their line dancing before they came. I told her it was a good thing they didn’t do this 2 weeks ago cause it was so busy. She said they did, and had to wait for a while before they got a table. We showed up with 4 and had to wait.
After we got home today, Jeannie a friend of Terry and Jo-Anne’s stopped over just to touch base with us about tomorrow’s Dinner.. We told her that the Dinner was off for now, but they would call us when it was back on again.
The wind kept us away from the pool for a third straight day. Apparently we weren’t the only ones refraining from the water, according to Jeannie. The pool was empty when she walked by it.
At Supper neither of us was hungry, as usual. We fended for ourselves whenever we got hungry later on.
The wind was playing hell with the dish again tonight. We had to watch the cable tonight because the dish refused to stay connected. When we’re at home in Michigan the wind usually dies down after sunset but here it just keeps blowing. It’s so damn annoying when you have to watch TV two hours later than you usually do. So tonight we had to stay up until 11 watching the shows that usually get over at 9. That really sucks.

It looked like it was going to be a nice day today for a change. There was practically no wind even though it was going to come up during the day today. At least it was sunshiny and warm out early.
We were off this morning to Desert Hot Springs to the Cottage Too for Breakfast. We hadn’t been out to eat anything in a couple of days and besides we needed to stop in town for some groceries anyway.
We arrived at the restaurant and there were tons of cars in the parking lot, but when we went inside, the whole front of the place was empty. I don’t know where all the people were hiding. It really didn’t matter cause we got our food very quickly and we were on our way to the grocery store to take care of business.
I sat in the car while Sharon did the shopping. She prefers that I not shop with her anymore, so I oblige her by not going with her. Besides it only took about a half hour before she re-appeared at the car and loaded the groceries into the trunk.
We watched TV and Sharon read her book and knitted for a couple of hours while we waited for pool time to roll around. Without the dastardly wind it was actually a very nice day to soak in the pool for an afternoon. Everybody wanted to know where we were at for the last couple of days. They wondered if we were actually out of the park for the week or not.
We stayed at the pool til around 4:30 today before we came home and played our usual game of Jeopardy. The wind was still pretty calm so the dish was behaving itself very nicely. As it turned out the wind stayed pretty calm for most of the night so our TV was playing normally tonight. It held off all night so we would retire at our normal time tonight. Watching TV on the cable is a ripper and not very enjoyable. Besides staying up til 11 is almost impossible for us anymore.

We gave Terry and Jo-Anne a call this morning to see if they wanted to go for Breakfast at Bristol Farms Café. They’ve been sick for a couple of days an we thought going out for Breakfast might cheer them up a bit. (We didn’t find out until tonight that they went on a “drug run” to Mexico today)
We arrived at the Café, after a fashion, since we took the wrong road down to Country Club Drive in Rancho Mirage. By the time we got there around 9:30 the place was packed and people were waiting for tables. They managed to take care of the tables quickly, but old people take forever to get up and get out when they’re done. We got a table after about 20 minutes and the wait was worth it. The food was very good and very reasonable.
By the time we got home the clouds had completely obliterated Mt. San Jacinto and the mountain was gone. It looked very much like we would be getting the rain they’ve been predicting since Wednesday. The wind is gone which is a blessing in itself.
This afternoon the sun was still shining in the valley and we went to the pool. The clouds started moving from the mountain and filled the sky overhead. When the sky was completely Gray the rain started. Just barely falling at first, but by the time we got back home it had increased at least twofold. It still wasn’t a gut-busting downpour but it continued for most of the night and even while we tried to sleep.
For Super tonight we decided to go to the Upper Clubhouse for the “All you can eat Spaghetti, Salad, Garlic Bread and Iced Tea. We had shied away from eating the spaghetti for a few years because they put too much Oregano in the sauce. But tonight was very good and we’ll probably come back again some day.
After Supper we came home and camped in front of the TV for the night. Friday has turned into a pretty good night for TV this year. The rain didn’t affect the dish and the wind was pretty much gone. We didn’t have any trouble making it to our usual bedtime.

We woke up this morning with a sunshiny day but a little nippy. It had rained all night until about 6 this morning, and then turned cold. Cold being the operative word when you’re used to it being in the 70's in the morning. The weather prediction is for more rain today, but the sky doesn’t look like it this morning.
Today is the day we have to “buy” our outweek in order to have a place to stay for next week. Although the park seems to be emptying out we don’t have reservations anywhere for next week so we’ve decided to stay here, if possible. Most of the people we’ve talked to in the pool have had no problem buying their outweek this year so we’re not anticipating any problem either. After she got back from the office she changed from shorts into jeans for the day.
We got a phone call from Terry and Jo-Anne wanting to know if we wanted to go to Marie Callender’s for Supper tonight. We told them yes because I really wanted to try the Chicken Pot Pie Special they’re featuring right now. I have to see if theirs is as good as Sharon’s. She makes a fabulous Pot Pie and I usually get it from leftover Turkey after Thanksgiving. I’ll have to try to get her to make it more often with chicken, tuna or beef.
We had BLT’s for lunch today even though they were a little skimpy on the Bacon. I only wanted 1 sandwich so that helped out the situation greatly.
After lunch Sharon threatened to eliminate the pool today because it was “too cold.” But after she took a little nap she was in a better mood so we left about 3 for a swim. It really was quite cold out compared to what we’ve been experiencing over the past couple of weeks. Although when we got to the pool the Michigan group was there, except for Roy, who was home napping and fighting a cough. We stayed for about an hour and a half and then had to get out to make it to our Dinner date with Terry and Jo-Anne. Now we had to walk home in our wet bathing suits that was no going to pleasant at all.
By the time we got dressed and ready it was time to head over to the restaurant and meet the Bertamini’s. It took us exactly a half hour to get to Marie Callender’s and we arrived a little early, but we wanted to leave enough time to get there in a timely manner. Terry and Jo-Anne arrived about 15 minutes after we did.
The food was good but I still didn’t think their Pot Pie was as good as Sharon’s. The others all had Shepherd’s Pie. The salad was good and the Cherry Pie for Dessert was outstanding indeed. By the time we got out of there it still set us back about $30. But we seldom ever go out for Dinner at night anyway, so it was a treat for us.
By the time we got home some of our TV programs had already played on the east networks so we were scrambling to find enough to watch tonight without staying up late. But typically Saturday night is usually a lousy night for TV anyway. We actually found enough to watch and even managed our usual bedtime. The rain started again tonight before we went to bed so maybe it’ll be done by tomorrow morning. I hate the rain when I’m trying to sleep. It makes too much noise.

Over the past couple of days we had talked about moving to another site closer to the pool. The park seems to be emptying out and the walk from the pool in wet swimming suits is cold at times.
When Sharon left for church this morning, She called me two minutes after she left and told me to go out and look at the snow on the mountains. Id, and took a couple of pictures which I sent to Phil and Joyce in Martinez. Also while she was gone, moved us closer to the pool. It was quite the chore moving all our “stuff” in several trips after the move.
When Sharon got home she said she was laughing out loud as she came around the corner. She suspected I might move us and she wasn’t surprised when it did happen. She also came home with some doughnuts which I had ordered before she left. Of course she told me she wasn’t buying them before she left, but she was happy she bought them after she saw our new location. She knew I had worked hard since she left getting us a new site. I’ll have to call the awning people on Monday so they know we’re on a different site. I don’t want to be paying for a new awning for somebody else.(joke)
The weather was still a little chilly out today. Probably in the low 60's or so.
At lunchtime Sharon announced that she wasn’t going to the pool today. But I think she might change her mind later on. I didn’t eat any lunch having had a late Breakfast because of the move to a new site.
After I took my shower this afternoon I asked Sharon if we were going to the pool or not and she relented and said she didn’t care. I knew that was a yes if I wanted to go. So I put on my suit as it was the time for the big soak. We got to the pool and there was noone there. And today nobody showed up later either. It was already later by the time we got there, and the pool was pretty much empty.
We came home about 4:30 and Sharon was making BBQed Chicken Wings for Supper tonight. They always turn out very good and I’m sure that it’ll be no different tonight. We just had Wings and Garlic Bread and it was very good.
Another night in front of the TV did not seem very attractive tonight. The offerings tonight seemed mighty slim. But we’ll surf our way until bedtime and see what happens from there.
