We went for our walks again this morning even though it was quite chilly out.  Sharon was up and gone by 8:10 and I was out the door shortly after that.  We both warmed up after being on the road for a couple of minutes.
Last night we had planned to go to the Pak Inn this afternoon for lunch.  Phil and Joyce called up and cancelled because of Phil's cold.  I guess he was up coughing all night.  We gave Terry and Jo-Anne a call to make sure they were still going.
Me and the Mrs. each had cereal this morning for Breakfast.  Neither of us wanted to eat much since we would be filling ourselves with Chinese food this afternoon.  A much better lunch than Breakfast.
Terry and Jo-Anne stopped over this morning before they could retrieve the message on the phone.  They wanted to know what time we were going, and since Phil and Joyce weren't going, we told them anytime.  They stayed for a few minutes and then left to go home and pick up the car.  It was close to 12:15 at the time.  By the time they got back it was 12:30 and we hopped in the car and left.
As usual, the food at the restaurant was excellent.  We ate and talked, and ate and talked and didn't leave the place until 3.  When we did finally leave Terry had to pick up some polish in Indio, and since we were already half way there, we just continued on to Indio to pick it up.
By the time we got back home, it was really too late to go to the pool, so we just sat and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.  I watched Glenn Beck and we played Jeopardy, and then caught Special Report on Fox.
By this time it was time for "24" and I recorded the off channels and watched it.  We had enough recorded to carry us through til 10.  Our programming "ends" at 8 o'clock here so we have to record other shows if we want something to watch until 10.  We mostly make it every night but there are bad days when you're really scraping to find something.
Tonight we made it again til 10   It's getting to be a regular thing with the DVR.  Needless to say I love the DVR.  At 10 it was all over but the shoutin'.

The wind blew relentlessly last night, and continued on today.  The motorhome was rocking and woke me up a couple of times through the night.  We decided that there wouldn't be any walking this morning for either of us.
I had suggested last night hat we have Belgian Waffles this morning for Breakfast and Sharon cut up the fresh Strawberries.  I cut up a little Mango this morning to go with the Strawberries.     I also cut up and grated a potato for Hash Browns.  Sharon opted out of the Hash Browns.
Jo-Anne called just as we were preparing to make the waffles, and asked us to stop over for coffee.  I told her maybe after Breakfast.
The waffles turned out absolutely fabulous and really hit the spot for a change.  I like pancakes and I know if I can talk Sharon into waffles we'll both be happy.  I had enough batter left over to make one final pancake.
After a post-Breakfast nap and a couple of hours of TV it was time to go to the pool.  But first I had to dump the holding tanks and get that job out of the way.  The wind was still blowing and it seemed like there might not be anybody over at the pool today.  When we got there it was pretty empty except for Joyce in the hot tub.  Phil was still at home, apparently nursing his cold, but came to the pool a little later.
We would be having Chicken and Rice for Supper tonight.  It's one of my all-time favorite ways to eat chicken, besides Fried.  And it didn't disappoint tonight either.  We also had peas with it.  Another of my favorites.  I wonder what Sharon is "sucking up" for?
It was Karaoke night at the Upper Clubhouse tonight and we left at about 7 to drive up there.  It was quite cold out by now so we both wore jackets even though we took the car.  There wasn't many people up there tonight but it seemed like everybody had a good time.  We were up there by ourselves until Terry and Jo-Anne made an appearance.  They had been out to eat at the Elephant Bar with friends from Alberta.  And they arrived just as the Karaoke was winding down.
After we left, we dropped  Terry and Jo-Anne off at home and then went in for a drink and a little conversation before heading home.  We got home about 10:30 and headed straight for the rack.

Walking our routes was out of the question this morning as the air was quite nippy and the wind was blustery.  I ate the leftover piece of waffle for Breakfast  this morning after I sliced it in half so it would fit in the toaster.  I topped it with Peanut Butter and Mango and it was quite delicious.  I also had an English Muffin and Sharon opted for her usual cold cereal and sliced banana for this morning.
I didn't feel like eating much this morning as this was going to be "Taco Wednesday" today.  We didn't think that Terry would be going today cause when we mentioned it last night he wrinkled up his nose.  However we did get a call from him this morning asking what time this "Mexican thing" was today.  He doesn't like what they try to pass off as Mexican food at the VFW.  We like to go for the cold beer and not the ethnic food.  Joyce stopped over and told us that Phil seemed to be feeling better so they would be going.
Just before noon the Bertamini's stopped over and Terry asked us how many there would be today for lunch.  The answer was at least 7 cause Bruce, their friend from Calgary, would be coming with us.  After lunch, they had to drop Bruce off at the airport for the flight back home.
After lunch the wind was just horrible and we decided that we weren't going to the pool today.  We just went home and relaxed.  But with a snootful of beer it quickly turned into a nap for both of us.  No matter, we weren't going anywhere anyway.
At suppertime we were both not interested in eating anything but there were plenty of leftovers in the fridge if we got hungry.  And in fact we both nibbled later on while watching TV.
The DVR saved us again tonight for finding enough to watch on TV to get to 10 o'clock.  I don't know how we got by without it before this year.  Well, hopefully it won't die on us in the near future.  Just after 10 and after a little of Craig Ferguson we retired to the "back of the shack" and our sleep place.

We went for our walks this morning as soon as Sharon got up and ready.  I had already been up for a couple of hours before she rolled out.  While I was on the last leg of my journey I ran into Terry and Jo-Anne who were looking for Sharon to take on their walk.  She was already gone but they did run into each other on the way.  The three of them walk the same route.
Terry and Jo-Anne stopped over for coffee after they were done with their walk.  During our conversation we decided to go to the Cottage Too for Breakfast this morning.  Sharon called Phil and Joyce to see if they were interested, but Joyce was already cooking this morning.
A few minutes later we were headed out to town to have our Breakfast.  As usual the food was excellent and plenty of it.  We like the little Mexican waitress that works there.  She's got quite the personality.  She always seems to be in a good mood.
By 11 we were on our way back home again and it looked like it was going to be a very nice day today.  Even though the wind started blowing again on the way home, it subsided and turned into a nice day indeed.
Sharon took off with the laundry as soon as she got home in order to finish by pool time at 2.  She doesn't want me to go with her any more and I think that stems from 2 years ago when I couldn't go with her because of a broken leg.  She did finish up by pool time, however.
We left for the pool knowing that there would be plenty of people there today.  Surprisingly the pool was almost empty.  Go figure!  The place did fill up in the next hour or so, though.  While we were still at the pool we invited The Bach's and Bertamini's over for snacks and drinks before suppertime.  It was still pleasant outside, and not getting worse until the sun went down like it always does.  We had about an hour and a half for cocktail hour before it started getting a little nippy outside.
After everybody left we came in and settled in front of the TV for the night.  The DVR was working overtime to get us enough to watch to carry us through til 10.  It managed to do a fine job and when 10 rolled around, we rolled into the bed.

Friday, March 12, 2010

We were up and walking as soon as we got ready this morning.  I( feel like I'm coming down with another cold, however, and I'm not excited about that possibility.  I haven't had a cold in years and now it seems that this is the second one this winter.  I just hope I can minimize the effects since they really beat me down when they occur.
Terry and Jo-Anne caught Sharon out on the road this morning and finagled her into walking an extra 4 blocks.  I don't think she really cared one way or the other.
We ate Breakfast as soon as she got home but it was nothing special except for the Mango she peeled and cut up.  It was absolutely delicious and a lot better than the cut up fruit she bought on the corner the other day.  That Mango was firm and probably not really ripe yet.
We didn't have a thing going on today so we didn't need to be anywhere, shop for anything, or see anyone today.  At lunchtime after reading through the intricacies of the instruction manual for our new camera, we decided we were going to have BLT's for lunch.  We were sitting outside when Sharon suggested it, so I went inside and started cooking the Bacon.  She followed me in and started cutting up the rest of the stuff we needed.  Lunch was done in less time than I had imagined it could be.
I sat down to rest my lunch and before I knew it, it was time to go to the pool for the afternoon.  It was a beautiful day at the pool again and all our friends were there.  Jerry and Dot came down from Thousand Trails again today to swim with the Dolphins at Catalina. (Yuk, Yuk) Phil and Joyce invited us over for a cocktail hour after we were done swimming, along with Terry and Jo-Anne and a couple of other friends of theirs.  We stayed almost until dark when it starts getting cold out here.  As soon as the sun goes down the Desert sends out the chill factor.
We came home and had Shrimp Creole and Egg Rolls for Supper.  I don't know why Egg Rolls go with Shrimp Creole and Etouffee' but they just do.  Supper was very good indeed and it's one of my favorites.
After Dinner we settled in for our usual entertainment for the night.  Friday is another night that the TV offerings are not that good.  The DVR was working overtime tonight to give us some decent programming, and even with that there were mighty slim pickin's.  When 10 rolled around we were ready for the asylum.

Saturday, March 13, 2010

We were off early this morning to the Cottage Too with Terry and Jo-Anne and Phil and Joyce to have Breakfast together.  And as usual, our Specials were very good and very reasonably priced.
Phil and Joyce and Sharon and I headed for the Caliente Swap Meet after Breakfast.  The Swap Meet is a new Flea Market that just opened on Little Morongo Road on Saturdays and Sundays, near our campground.  The vendors of the new and used merchandise were mostly Mexican.  They don't like to put price tags on their merchandise which turned me off right away.  They still aren't that big which was nice for me to walk through, but the market was spread out among dozens of storage units which could have been more compact. On the way home we followed a "big sale" sign that led us into the wilderness and a rummage sale that wasn't worth the gas to get there.  As a matter of fact, we drove past the place the first time and only found it on the way back.
We just sat around for a couple of hours, after we got back, until it was time to go to the pool for the afternoon.  And arriving at the pool we discovered that the water temp was cooler by a few degrees than it had been all winter.  The wind today must have taken more heat out of the water than they had expected.  We ended up leaving early since we didn't know if we were going to the Upper Clubhouse tonight for Corned Beef and Cabbage.  After we got home Sharon decided that we would go up and see how it was.
We left about 4:40 for a 5PM Dinner and were the first ones in line.  The Dinner didn't start until 5:20 because they were having trouble with the oven that apparently quit working 2 yeas ago.  Although we got our full meal there were some people that got thrown together mashed potatoes, and they ran out of meat with about 10 people unserved.  We also noticed that the manager of the park got his meal after people were turned away.  Nice example.  The Dinner was quite nice, however, with a salad, Corned Beef and Cabbage and Potatoes, a large piece of Cornbread, and Carrot Cake for Dessert.
We got back home and settled in for the TV for the night.  There wasn't much on so we watched a 3 hour movie called "The Green Mile".  The movie was very good and took us right up to our bedtime and past.  Terry and Jo-Anne stopped over tonight for a while and delivered my low dose aspirin and the spaghetti sauce they had picked up for us the other day.  They stayed for about an hour and we got back to our movie.  We didn't go to bed tonight until after 11.  The cold I was catching was going to keep me up for awhile, however, and I wasn't wrong.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

We were up and taking care of business this morning.  I was typing my Journal and Sharon was off to church and grocery shopping afterwards.  I didn't wait for her this morning for Breakfast, I just whipped up a couple of Egg McMuffins while she was gone.
Terry and Jo-Anne called while she was gone and asked if we wanted to go for a ride to check out a campground over on Ramon.(street) I told them probably, but I had to wait for Sharon to come home and I would have her call.  After Sharon got back she called and told them we would go.  They picked us up about 10 minutes later and we then found out we were going to Ramona (a city 110 miles from here) and not over to Ramon.  Oh well we had nothing else planned for today anyway.
We left and found our way to the back way up the mountain which I informed Terry wouldn't be the way he would go with the motorhome after he drove it once.  By the time we got a quarter of the way to Ramona he was convinced that this would not be the way he would travel with the motorhome.  It was actually quite a scenic trip but the hills and curves would be quite horrendous in a motorhome.
We had never been to Julian before which we found to be a quaint little town with shops to match.  We had been to Ramona which was where the campground is located that they wanted to check out.  After checking out the campground we headed for Ramona to get something to eat.  We found a Sizzler's without looking too hard, and stopped for a late lunch.  After lunch, Which Terry generously bought, we got back on the road for home.  We took the "main" way back home which was much less hilly and curvy which was a welcome finish to the trip.  We got back about 6PM which was too late for the pool or anything else.
We decided to stop over to Phil and Joyce's and say good-bye to them since we hadn't seen them all day.  They will be heading out to Thousand Trails about 20 miles down the highway tomorrow morning.  We stopped for about 15 minutes and then came back home to settle in for TV for the night.
We had a bunch of stuff taped so it wasn't hard to catch enough to watch for the night.  In fact we watched TV until the bewitching hour and then headed for the feathers for the night.
