The wind was whistling again this morning and it was quite noticeable as we drove to Indio.
It was off to the Chiropractor again this morning for my weekly adjustment.  I was done with the Acupuncture last week haven't really had much success with the whole thing.  It seemed to help a small bit but the treatments were not covered by our insurance, so it was all out-of-pocket.
After we were done at the Doctor's we went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items for our oil change that I'll do before we head home.  I needed oil, filter and a wiring harness for the car that was ruined when it got under the towbar.  It pretty much destroyed both the mail and female plugs.  They're still working but they really need replacing.
On the way home we stopped at Wendy's for lunch.  They were advertising a Fish Sandwich that I really wanted to try.  Sharon opted for a Chicken/Teriyaki Salad again.  She had one a week or so ago when I had to have a Pomegranite Smoothie.  I had a sandwich too, but who remembers what the sandwich was.  The Fish Sandwich was pretty good, but still not as good as Burger King's.
By the time we were headed home it was almost time to hit the pool.  Sharon was reluctant but we went anyway.  There were no whitecaps on the pool but we wondered why not.  The wind was still quite gusty but the pool was between 92-93 degrees today.  It was delicious to say the least.  We stayed for quite a while today as we had nothing to do until 5 o'clock when we would meet with Terry and Jo-Anne along with Jim and Jackie at the Elephant Bar in Palm Desert.  By the time we soaked for two or so hours we had wrinkled enough to go home.
We picked up Jim and Jackie at 4:30 and headed toward Palm Desert for Supper.  We had never been to the Elephant Bar before and it was a very pleasant experience.  The food seemed a little pricey at first, but what we received was well worth the prices we paid.  Terry and Jo-Anne had their friend Bruce with them and he seemed to enjoy himself also.
By the time we left the restaurant we would be getting home in enough time to catch "24" on TV.  We were invited over to the Bertamini's for cocktails but I declined even though Sharon went.  She was back home at 9 just before "24" started, but I couldn't take the chance I would miss it.  I stayed up until 11 until all the regular shows were over with.  There wasn't anything on after that, so I ambled toward the sleep chamber for the next 8 hours.

We were gone to the casino this morning for a final get-together with Norm and Sue and they brought Gene and Cindy with them.  We had a total of 11 at our table when all were counted.  This was the largest contingent that we've ever taken to Breakfast but we didn't have to wait long for a table..Norm and Sue will be heading to Wilderness Lakes tomorrow in preparation for their flight to Hawaii on Sunday.  Norm Jokingly invited us to go with them but we declined.  We actually said our good-byes on Sunday not knowing if we'd see them today or not.  It was a very good time even though we didn't get much chance to talk to them.
We had gone over to Breakfast with Jim and Jackie Palestini.  We piled in the Jeep on the way home and go0t here just in time for Sharon to take off with the laundry again.  This year she's trying to keep up every few days so she doesn't have 4 loads when she goes.  She's been doing very good good at it but it seems she's gone with the laundry all the time.
After laundry we went to the pool for a couple of hours.  The temperature of the water was simply lovely.  You could tell it was warm outside and warm in the water by the number of people in the pool.  There was a crowd to say the least.  Anybody swimming today would be crashing into people.  We lasted in the pool until Happy Hour at which time everybody came over here with their goodies and after it got too cold outside (when the sun went down) we came inside until about 9.  It was quite a Happy Hour with Jim and Jackie, Terry, Jo-Anne and Bruce and us.
I got to catch a couple of repeats on the telly before I crashed and burned.  Sharon had already gone down in flames 2 hours before.  It was hard to fall asleep with all the light from the flames in the bedroom.  But we managed.

Today was going to be a busy day.  First of all, it was a "move" day for us and we had to leave Catalina Spa and head a mile down the road to Desert Pools for a week.  We were on another "outweek" and we couldn't check in early, so we timed it so that we would be there right at 11 o'clock, the new check-in time.  We didn't do much last night or yesterday about moving today because of the Happy Hour last night.  But it didn't take long for us to get it all together, and move it today.  We're very practiced at it.
It was also Taco Wednesday today and we finished getting ourselves all set up at Desert Pools in plenty of time to get to the VFW.  We would be meeting a small group of Jim and Jackie, Terry and Jo-Anne and Bruce at 12 at the Clubhouse.  We sat through about 4 pitchers of suds before we finally decided it was time for the pool, and left for home.
The wind was blowing slightly today but there was hardly anyone in the pool.  I don't know what happened from yesterday to today but the number of people in the pool and hot tub was a huge shock.  We didn't think that the numbers would sustain themselves for very long but only one day, so far, is funny.  Usually at this time of the year Snowbirds are moving from down south back toward the north.  I say toward the north because that's what we'll do in three weeks.  Our first move will be to Casa Grande, Arizona which will set us up for the long trip home.  We haven't made plans yet for the route we'll take, but it won't happen until the end of April.  In any event after we leave the pool today it'll be a drive back home instead of a walk back there.
We were invited over to Terry and Jo-Anne's tonight for burgers.  We left home about 6:15 and drove back to Catalina for the second time today.  Bruce was already there when we arrived and we sat around and talked for about an hour or so before we ate.  The Burgers were good like burgers on the grill always are.  We sat and talked for another hour or so afterwards.  We ran out of conversation so Sharon and I headed home for the night at 9.  We were just in time to catch a couple of good shows on the telly.
We were up until 11 tonight, trying to stay awake until the end of CSI:NY.  It was a new show tonight and we both enjoy that show.  We like everybody in the cast of that program.  But no later than 11:01 we scampered to the feathered room and laid ourselves down to sleep.  And that was that

We were on our own this morning and that was just fine with us.  We didn't feel like going anywhere to eat or doing anything special, and that was just fine..  Sharon took off on her walk this morning while I took care of a few things with the motorhome that needed taking care of.  Because we had dead batteries again when we left Catalina I had the charger on til this morning.  I took the charger off and hooked up the engine battery to the auxiliary batteries so it would charge all the time while we are parked and plugged in to electric.  I also had to change a cartridge in the printer.  It's been sitting around for a week waiting to be changed and it looks like today will be the day.  We've been moving it from the bedroom to the front and back again.  We've grown tired of looking at it.  Well today its going back under the bed again.
By the time we finished those things it was time for lunch.  Sharon whipped up some Grilled Tuna Salad Sandwiches which turned out very good.  I think we've actually had them before at one time or another.  But thy really hit the spot today.
After lunch we needed to go for our usual soak in the pool and hot tub.  We bobbed around in the pool for at least a couple of hours and all the usual acquaintances were there.  The Parents, Browns were there and the Bertamini's showed up shortly afterward.  We managed to get home just before Jeopardy started today so we got to watch it all the way through.  They're having a Tournament of Champions on this week and next.
For Supper tonight we had Fried Chicken and Rice, along with Pickled Beets.  The rice was pretty much a bust cause Sharon didn't make it the way I like it, but the Fried Chicken was delicious.  She also mad a couple of loaves of Banana Bread that she was meaning to make for a few days now.  She put so many Chocolate Chips in them that the center of the loaf didn't solidify.  So we each at a part of the gooey stuff.
We settled in front of the tube for the night.  There were a couple of decent shows on tonight and the rest of the night was spent surfing.  We didn't go to bed until 11 tonight and it seems like there are more and more nights that we don't retire until later.  Of course that also interprets into sleeping later in the morning.  But forcing myself to stay in bed later doesn't necessarily translate into more sleep.  You can't get more sleep if you can't keep your eyes closed.  Oh well.

We were driving east again this morning for the Chiropractor's Office.  I really wish it was helping more than it really is.  It seems to be helping just a little more every day.
We are always trying to figure out where we're going to eat lunch while we're over here in Indio, and I think the Olive Garden is going to win out today.  We'll have to drive back a ways on 111 to get to it cause its over in Palm Desert.  We were done early at the Doctor's so Sharon decided that she wanted to browse around in some store for awhile.  We stopped at Wal-Mart so se could satisfy her browsing urge and I stayed in the car and listened to the radio.  Rush Limbaugh's speech at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) was playing in it's entirety on his show today.  I've heard parts of it during the past week.
After Wal-Mart we headed over to the Olive Garden and I could already taste the Chicken and Gnocchi Soup and the Garlic Bread Sticks.  I have always really liked the dressing that they put on the salad at Olive Garden.  It's the only place where I eat a ton of salad along with a load of Bread Sticks.  And after a bowl of soup I'm usually finished for lunch.  We're always tempted by the desserts, however, even though we've never had one.  I suppose one of these days Sharon and I will split one.
By the time we got home it was time for the pool.  We got our clothes changed and drove back over to Catalina Spa.  We don't swim here at Desert Pools cause all our friends do the same thing we do.  They go back to Catalina to swim.  Today there was a bunch that were gone to the Follies in Palm Springs so the pool was pretty empty.  Jackie was gone with the Browns and Parents, so Jim was in the pool by himself and Roy was playing Poker.
We were planning on going to the VFW tonight for Corned Beef and Cabbage but Terry and Jo-Anne made plans with the Frasers.  No matter, we would just have two less at the table tonight.  Jim and Jackie were planning to go so we would only have 4 for Dinner tonight.
By the time we finished Dinner we made it home in time to watch some tube.  We stayed up again until 11 tonight even though the Mrs. seemed to be battling a cold.  There was some decent TV on tonight however, so it wasn't much of a chore to stay up later.  Besides we missed some of the early shows on the East network.

Saturday, March 14, 2009

The little Mrs. woke up this morning feeling under the weather so it looks like we won't be doing anything of any note today.  She actually got up and ate Breakfast and then went back to bed.
I got a call from Terry and Jo-Anne inviting us over for a BBQ this afternoon, but I explained that Sharon had woke up with a cold and she wasn't feeling good.  Sharon  called them back and declined.
In the meantime I went outside and hooked up our water and sewer.  We'll have to dump here at Desert Pools before we leave on Wednesday and I hadn't hooked up to water or sewer yet.  I also picked up our towels that were still on our lawn chairs outside.  In fact one of them had already blown onto the ground.
The wind had picked up again last night and it looks like it will continue again today.  I don't think it was predicted for today, but then I don't expect the weatherman to know when the wind will start blowing here.
The patient made another appearance at lunchtime and I offered to cook her something but she decided to have a Chicken Salad instead.  I had a Grilled Tuna Salad sandwich with chips and it looked quite good.
Sharon actually stayed up for a while after lunch, but after about an hour or so, returned to the bed and got horizontal.  I think she took a Mexican Benedryl before she headed for the feathers.  If past experience means anything, I won't see her again for at least a few hours.  I just settled in to watch some TV for the afternoon and not make any noise to let her sleep.
Jim and Jackie called this afternoon and asked us if we were interested in going to the VFW with them and the Bertamini's tonight.  I declined for both of us.
By 5 o'clock another appearance was made by the Queen of the Castle and things weren't looking any better than they had all day.  She got up to eat something for supper, and stayed up for a little while, and then marched back to the sick room for the night.
I settled back in front of the idiot box for the night.  There were repeats on all night and I just surfed back and forth to catch them.  I hung in there until 10 and then I choked down my pills and headed for the flat mat to get some zzz's.

Sunday, March 15, 2009

It was another day and another dollar but I was just biding my time waiting to see if Sharon would be up and around this morning or not.  The wind was still gusting this morning even though the actual day looked like it would be sunny and pleasant out today.
We got a call early this morning from Terry and Jo-Anne to see if Sharon was okay, and if she would be interested in coming over for Dinner tonight.  Not knowing yet how she would be feeling, I told Jo-Anne that I would have Sharon call her when she got up.
I was watching my Sunday (political) shows when the Maiden of the Manor arose for the day.  I told her about the offer from the Bertamini's and she called Jo-Anne right back.  It seems like she will at least attempt to stay up and function today for a change.  It wouldn't be too difficult since we don't have anything to eat in the house. To eat anyway.  We were in dire need of a shopping trip to get our stores replenished.  Since the cook had been horizontal, there was no need to have cookable food around.
We didn't make any attempt to go to the pool today since Sharon couldn't really decide if she was staying up or not.  No matter, I just sat in my recliner and watched TV for the day until something was decided.  There was no point in me planning a thing today, not knowing if it'll ever come to fruition or not.  I can only do what Sharon is willing or able to do today.
By 5 o'clock we were ready and willing to go to Terry and Jo-Anne's for Dinner tonight.  Jon and Kris Fraser would also be coming over tonight.  We haven't seen the Frasers since late December when we saw them at the Pak Inn for lunch.  They bought a lot at Outdoor Resorts and have been hanging pretty close to home all year.
We had T-Bones for Supper tonight along with Baked Potatoes, Asparagus, Corn and Sauteed Shrimp and Garlic Bread.  Everything was very good and we stayed for awhile after Dinner just to talk.  Terry and Jo-Anne would be leaving on Wednesday to go back home to Calgary, Alberta.  Ohhh Brrrr.  There's still snow on the ground and temps in the 30's and 40's.  But their "Holiday" was pretty soon over.
We came home and Sharon stayed up for a while, but soon went to bed again for the night.  I forced myself to watch repeats until the bewitching hour at 10 and then something good came on TV so I stayed up until 11.  But I headed for the feathers soon after that.  I'll probably have her cold by tomorrow when I get up.  Oh Boy, get ready for some whining then.
