We were off on a full day today. I had a Doctor's appointment in Indio with my Chiropractor/Acupuncturist at 10:45 and it takes us about 40 minutes to get there, so we left about 10 on our trip east to the appointment.
After my appointment, we had planned on meeting Terry and Jo-Anne Bertamini somewhere for lunch. We called them after I was done, and they said we were eating at their place in Indian Waters RV Park. When we arrived, they had prepared a couple of plates of Nachos Bell Grande and that was only the prelude to Kielbasa Sausage on the grill with onions and cheese, on a bun. By the time we were done we were stuffed to the gills. They also had dessert for us but we were just to full to even want anything else. We had a good time sitting and talking with them as we always do. It actually got so warm outside that we went inside with the air conditioning.
After we left there we headed over to Thousand Trails RV Resort to see Norm and Sue Jones. Good friends from England. We've known Norm and Sue for 9 years and have only spent about two weeks in actual time together. We manage to get together, if possible, every year for a couple of days or so. We keep in touch by e-mail, and then plan our winters so that our paths cross for as long as possible every year. So far we've always managed at least a couple of days every year. We had a drink or two at Norm and Sue's and talked for a couple of hours before it was time to go back home. We agreed to meet tomorrow with the Jones' and the Bertaminis' at the casino for Breakfast.
I made it home 15 minutes after "24" started tonight, but because it was on for 2 hours I figured it wouldn't be hard to catch on to the story. Besides I could catch the first 15 minutes later on tonight when it comes on the west network. I actually followed it pretty well tonight and caught on immediately.
We hung in there til about 11 tonight before I folded up my tent and put away my toys. Sharon was already gone puzzling and I followed after taking my medicine.

We were off to the Spa Casino this morning with our group, Norm and Sue, Terry and Jo-Anne and us, for the Buffet Breakfast. After we ate and had our fill, we stayed and talked until after they started serving lunch. Nobody was hungry enough to have anything to eat so we just packed up and left.
Terry and Jo-Anne we talking about looking at motorhomes at McMahon's RV down by Thousand Trails and Norm and Sue thought they might go with them. Norm and Sue drive a Country Coach Intrigue so I don't think they'll be looking for something to buy. Terry and Jo-Anne have both been talking about a new (different) coach all this year. They each talk about it at different times, but they say they're not buying until they sell they're house in Calgary.
After we left the casino we stopped at the Post Office next door and mailed out the Newsletters. I'm back on schedule again for the Newsletters.
When we got home, Sharon took off with the laundry but a couple across the street beat her to the machines. So she was carrying her laundry back home again. She figured that by the time those people got done, it would be cutting into our pool time. So she decided to do it on another day.
I needed to type my Journal when I got home, so I just settled in and started typing. Before I knew it it was time to go to the pool. Terry and Jo-Anne drove back up from Indian Waters to go to the pool here. We stayed in the pool until late and invited Terry and Jo-Anne to have supper with us. They didn't want to accept but eventually relented. By the time they left tonight It was just before 9 o'clock. Man, when we get together the time just flies by.
Most of the TV programming was over by the time I got the TV on but I really didn't mind. I can eliminate almost any TV program except "24" while I'm having fun.
Sharon was headed for Puzzleland as soon as they left, but I was still looking for my TV fix for the night so I could sleep well. I stayed up until 11 and until I couldn't find a thing to watch. I took my pills and headed for Dreamland.

The wind was blowing again today and it was quite brisk. It blew all night last night.
As soon as I got going this morning I fixed my chair again. The back of my recliner was not working again and had to be taken apart. I got it off the pedestal and everything back together again in about an hour. Unfortunately by the time I was done I had it mounted on the pedestal backwards. There's no way to tell if its mounted frontwards or backwards until after its actually mounted on the pedestal. We wee monkeying with the pedestal plate and must have turned it around without realizing it. I'll have to take it back off again and turn it around since I can't slide it away from the wall now. It's always something with this damn chair. It's actually just a quick fix now.
By the time I got finished with putting my chair on backwards, it was time for a shower and Taco Wednesday. Corky and Deb Zimmermann called and they said they would be joining us for lunch. We took off at our usual time and ended up in the parking lot at the same time that Corky and Deb arrived. We walked into the VFW together and Terry and Jo-Anne were already there. They had ordered Chips and Salsa and a pitcher of beer already. Man with service like this, life is truly good. It didn't take us long to get done today, and in fact we were back in the pool at 2 o'clock. This had to be a record on Taco Wednesday. Corky and Deb would be leaving for Yuma on Friday so we said our good-byes and promised to see them this summer, since we're so close in the summer. But we said that last year and it never materialized. We'll have to make the effort this year, I guess.
The Browns and Parents arrived at the pool shortly after we arrived and wondered why we were there. They told us that we're never there until late on Wednesdays, and for the most part they're right. I don't know what happened today, but we just seemed to get finished at the VFW early. The water in the pool was 92 today and deliciously warm. Even though Sharon first choice after the VFW was a nap, she stayed in the pool for a couple of hours just like I did. But because the water was so warm in the pool, she didn't last long in the hot tub.
We were both home by 4:30 and just after Jeopardy was over with. Sharon had decided that she wasn't cooking tonight so we would be on our own for supper, kind of. We had leftover Spaghetti and Meatballs that wed both heated up for supper. That was about all we wanted anyway.
TV tonight wasn't going to be anything earthshaking so Sharon took off with the laundry before the first program even started. The rest of the night was our usual fare, repeats and more repeats for the entire night. Surfing didn't help at all tonight to get any better programming cause it just wasn't there. We lasted until 10, but just barely. Sharon lathered up the Thera-gesic for my sore shoulder and it looks like its showing progress. It's getting better and better every day. I'm looking forward to tomorrow mornings again.

The wind was still whistling again today and it looks like it's not going to quit anytime soon.
Sharon was off on her walk early this morning and when she got back she said she had a surprise for me. She wasn't saying what it was, but by the time she got in the shower Jackie Palestini was knocking at the door. So that was the surprise, Jim and Jackie were here. I was quite surprised since we hadn't seen them since December of 2007 when we came through the northern part of California. It was the year we had a couple of freeze-ups cause it was so cold on I-80.
We invited them over after they got set up to have coffee. In about a half hour they were back and we sat and talked. We had a couple of years to catch up on and we got right to it. By the time we talked for a while it didn't take long to catch up. We told them that we were headed to the Pak Inn for lunch today and invited them along. We would be going with Norm and Sue and Terry and Jo-Anne. We told them we would pick them up on the way over and they said okay.
When we arrived, we introduced them around since they didn't know either of the other two couples. Everyone seemed to be able to talk freely and the conversation revolved around the table. After a couple of hours the Palestinis and us left and headed for home.
We went to the pool and the water temp was 92 degrees.
We called Terry and Jo-Anne at about 5 and they were still sitting in the restaurant with Norm and Sue. A short time later Terry called us and said they had left the restaurant and were on their way home. They said that Norm and Sue wanted to go to Breakfast again tomorrow morning and wondered if we would be interested. We laughed and said sure. So we were on again for Breakfast tomorrow morning. I was going to call Jim and Jackie and see if they wanted to go but Sharon said not to because they were going to bed early tonight since they had driven all night last night. So we decided to call them in the morning since we knew they would be up early.
We were not hungry for Supper since we had only eaten a couple of hours ago, so we wouldn't be eating again. We settled in for some TV for the night and then when 10 rolled around we just ambled off to bed. We had a phone call to make in the morning to find out if Jim and Jackie would be going with us to the casino.

We called Jim and Jackie this morning but willpower won out. They would not be going to the casino for Breakfast. We met the other participants, Norm and Sue, Terry and Jo-Anne and us at 9 at the Spa Casino. Terry and Jo-Anne were, as usual, there ahead of everyone else. We wondered if today was going to be another marathon like yesterday at the Pak Inn. It had all the earmarks of another marathon when everybody just got up at one time, at 11 o'clock, and headed for the exit.
We had to take a trip down the road to the Westfield Mall and J.C. Penney to take Sharon's swimsuits back. When we got there, I sat in the car and waited for her, and she took on 3 salesgirls and a manager to get her money back. After she got back to the car she told me how much she paid for the 2 suits. It was quite substantial, and I'm sure that's the reason why she didn't tell me how much they were. No matter, the suits were fraying and she wanted to bring them back.
We were back on the road to home in about a half hour and would be heading for the pool despite the wind that was still blowing today. After a while you just get used to the blowing wind even though you get sick of it. The water in the pool was down to 87 today and it wasn't until Jim "the pool guy" came by that we found out that the hot water to the pool was shut off today. This damn temperature in the pool has been a sore spot all year, this year. Terry and Jo-Anne decided to come here and swim but only lasted a few minutes in the "chilly" water. They took all the verbal abuse they could as they left the pool for the hot tub.
We actually lasted for quite a while today probably because were used to the tepid water now. By the time we got home Jeopardy was on the final question.
We wouldn't be eating Supper again tonight. I guess it doesn't matter if it's a Breakfast or a Lunch we don't usually eat anything substantial afterwards. We did however go to Jim and Jackie's tonight for a little conversation and liquor. We had a couple of drinks at the Palestini's and then we headed for home We were still in time to catch a few shows on the tube before the bewitching hour arrived. Sharon lathered up my sore shoulder and then headed toward the feathers. I followed at 11 when tonight's shows were over. I can't drag myself to bed before all the TV is over with.

We were off on our way to The Cottage Too with Terry and Jo-Anne this morning with a quick stop at Stater Brothers on the way home to do some grocery shopping. We had a plan today to attend the Tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force at the Palm Springs Air Museum at 1 PM and we needed to hustle to make it on time. We were already running close to the time we had to be there for the opening of the program.
We really didn't have time for lunch but then we had just finished Breakfast at the Cottage. Sharon came home and flung the groceries away and by that time Terry and Jo-Anne were here to pick us up for the trip to Palm Springs. It was only about 10 miles and a quick zip south would get us there.
The show started at 1 and we spent the entire afternoon at the museum listening to a couple of speakers and the demonstration flights. The speakers weren't that exciting but the demonstration flights had us outside sitting in the midday sun which was very pleasant indeed. There was just a hint of a breeze and Sharon had brought her umbrella which we shared. Generally it was a fun afternoon and we got home about 4 so we took another hour and went to the pool. The water was nice and warm but we couldn't stay there long since we were invited over to Terry and Jo-Anne's for Dinner tonight.
After we got home we got ready and headed for the Bertamini's for Steak, Baked Potatoes, Asparagus Spears, mixed veggies and Garlic Toast. It was all very good indeed. We sat around after Dinner and talked for a while before Sharon and I headed home again. By this time it was a little nippy outside. We "hot-footed" it back to home sweet home.
We were home in time to watch plenty of TV. Too bad plenty of TV was not to be had. After "Cops" there wasn't much to watch. It really didn't matter since it was almost 10 anyway and tonight we would be "springing our clocks forward" so we could save Daylight Time. Sharon creamed up my sore shoulder and then went to the mattresses. I followed shortly afterward.
Sunday, March 8, 2009
I was up early this morning and was typing my Journal when Sharon took off for church. By the time she got back I was busily repairing vents. I had quite a bit of repairs to do today.
Terry and Jo-Anne stopped over with Ginger on their walk to find out what time we were going to Thousand Trails to see Norm and Sue this afternoon.
After they left, we removed my recliner from its base and turned the base so it was the right way again. It only took a few minutes to get the nuts back on the bolts and fasten it down again. It was ready for another 10,000 miles or reclines, whichever comes first.
By this time and after a few other adjustments around the hacienda it was time for lunch Sharon gave me the option of BLT's or Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwiches. I chose the latter and she whipped them up in no time. We both dipped into the Huge bag of chips from Sam's Club that we picked up the other day.
After lunch we were off to the pool for an hour or so before we had to get ready to leave. We left for Thousand Trails about 2:30 and when we arrived we met Gene and Cindy, a couple we had never seen before. We sat around talking outside and imbibing on Gin and Tonics. They were going down real good when Marg and Vello also stopped by for a couple of drinks. When the sun when down we decided that it was getting a little chilly and instead of going inside we just decided that we'd head home. Besides the Happy Hour had already lasted for 2 cups of British Tea for Terry. He doesn't drink like the rest of us.
We had made plans to go to the casino on Tuesday for Breakfast, but the plans were very loosely knit, so we said our good-byes to Norm and Sue, since they are leaving on Wednesday. We'd truly like to see them again, however.
On the way home we decided that we would stop at In-N-Out Burger for a sandwich since we only snacked at the Happy Hour. JoAnne and I grabbed a place to sit down and Terry and Sharon did the ordering. That's how you do it at this place cause they're so busy you have to grab a seat when you go in. After our burgers we headed for home and the confines of our coaches for the night.
There wasn't much on tonight but it had been a long and eventful day anyway. We caught a couple of hours on the idiot box and then went straight for bed. Tomorrow will be another day.
