We got up this morning and the rain was falling. Apparently it is intending on falling most of the day today.
We were off this morning to my Chiropractor's for another acupuncture treatment. It takes about 35 minutes to get there in her new office. Today she decided to hook up the needles to a little machine that generates an electrical charge. Sharon said that the 4 needles that were hooked up that way were vibrating. I could definitely feel the charge she was putting through them.
After the doctor we went by Wal-mart and picked up a bunch of necessities for the coming week. We needed groceries and Wal-Mart was just the most convenient place to pick them up.
After having seen Jack in the Box advertising a Pomegranate Smoothie for a couple of weeks now, I was anxious to go to that restaurant for lunch today. I had some kind of Steak Sandwich with fries that was fabulous. Sharon didn't tell me about the mushrooms in it until I was almost finished eating. Not a problem. She had a Teriyaki and Chicken Salad which was also very tasty.
The Pomegranate Smoothie almost killed me. It was so cold that I had 3 ice cream headaches while trying to finish it. I could have thrown it in the garbage but it was so good I couldn't.
After "Jack in the Box"we headed for home with the rain still falling like crazy. A couple of times on the freeway I had to slow down cause the visibility was so bad. We were home by 1:30 but it didn't matter cause we were really confined to the motorhome for the rest of the afternoon anyway. It was such a lovely day.
I waited in anxious anticipation of the show"24" coming on tonight. It pretty much controls what we do on Monday nights. We don't do anything so I can watch it. After Supper tonight I settled into my non-reclining chair and got ready to be entertained. And I wasn't disappointed.
We called Denny and Sue Gosser earlier tonight and Denny returned the call. We agreed to get together before they leave for Cherry Hill Resort later on. We asked them if they wanted to go to Breakfast tomorrow but they declined. We'll arrange something with them in the next few days.
I watched TV until after 10 so that I could catch the Big Bang Theory before I went to bed. It was good and I was gone. The sleep fairy threw her dust in my eyes.

We were off to the Spa Casino this morning to partake in the Breakfast Buffet. Phil and Joyce picked us up and we were there in a flash. I managed to walk all the way from the parking lot, which was quite good for me. Sharon even commented on it. I was winded by the time I got to the Dining Room, however. No matter it felt good to have made it that far.
After we ate, the gamblers (Phil and Sharon) wanted to try their luck on a few machines, so I was able to make the return walk to the parking lot in segments. I wasn't so out of breath on the way back. It was a semi-comfortable walk in and out, however.
By the time we got back, Dick and Linda Smith had checked into the park. Sharon and I went home, so I could get my court papers ready to fax to the court back home. Sharon took off with the car on her way to town, so my scooter was gone, as I walked to the office with my papers. On the way back I stopped at Dick and Linda's and Phil and Joyce were there already. The Smiths are old friends of the Bachs from Martinez, CA, their hometown. When Sharon got back from town she stopped at Dick and Linda's also, before we all decided to go to the pool.
Unbeknownst to Sharon and I, Dick and Linda opted out of the pool so just the 4 of us were soaking this afternoon. It was cool enough out so that any skin above the 89 degree water was chilled. Needless to say there was no point in having any skin above the water except for your head.
We were at the pool til around 4 because we made it back for Jeopardy this afternoon. There would be no Supper tonight, so we were on our own after the wonderful Breakfast.
The group had made plans to play Dominoes tonight at 7. I managed to watch NCIS and The Mentalist before we headed over to the Pool Room for Dominoes. We spent the next 3 hours playing a game that Joyce finally won. She was quietly kicking our butt without anybody but "Sharon the Scorekeeper" knowing. She engineered a wonderful shellacking.
We actually got home tonight in time to catch a little TV before we went to bed. I actually stayed up late tonight. Something I haven't done in a long time. I didn't feel like going to bed so I just stayed up and watched TV for a while. I think I must have fallen asleep for a short time in my non-recliner. I checked the mail in the office yesterday for my new cable for the chair, but it wasn't in. So I'll just have to non-recline for a few more days. I finally crashed and burned about 11:30 and found Sharon still awake when I slid into bed.

Another cold day today. The temps are not supposed to go above 60 all week. And with the wind blowing it's much colder. Oh well.
Sharon took off on her walk this morning before I could catch her. Another day I missed a nice healthy walk. Damn!
By lunchtime we had another "group" for Taco Wednesday. Phil and Joyce, Dick and Linda, Corky and Deb and us. We went over with Corky and Deb and also stayed after the rest of the group went home. We actually lost count of the number of pitchers consumed, but we think it may have been around 6. A nice round number.
By the time we got home it was too late to go to the pool. Sharon wasn't having any of it. I had to agree it was a little cooler by that time and not nice to go into the pool. So we just stayed at home and Sharon napped.
About 5 Linda stopped by and told us that we would be going to the pool room tonight to play games again. By the time we got over there the pool room was already occupied and the people there sent us to the card room. We found our associates there and waiting for us.
We played the Card Game Uno tonight. We spent half the time looking up the rules cause we couldn't remember them. We played partners tonight with the men playing against the women. And interestingly enough when there was a problem it seemed like the rules always worked against us. We had a good time though, even if we got our butts handed to us.
We got home in time for me to catch CSI New York on TV. I actually saw my other shows before we went to play cards. It was actually another late night for me as my leg was bothering me again when I went to bed. I think I finally fell asleep sometime after 1 o'clock. A good day with a bad ending.

Sharon was off on her walk this morning early while I was typing my Journal and getting my expense sheets up to date. When she got back she decided that she would head out with the laundry to get that caught up today.
At lunchtime we had made plans to go to lunch with Denny and Sue Gosser, a couple we had met a few years ago at our home park in Alabama. We had seen them since that time, for brief periods while we were on the road. They had even stopped in Iron Mountain at one time and stayed at River's Bend campground. We had also stopped at the campground they were working/volunteering at near Temecula, CA.
We went to a new place today for lunch called Billy Reed's. The inside of the restaurant was quite elegant, but the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant is located on N. Palm Canyon just off Vista Chino. We had a very nice lunch and then they tool us on a driving tour of Palm Springs. Denny and Sue had lived here for several years before they retired. So as we drove, they pointed out all the places that they had frequented in the past. We drove around for about an hour after we left the restaurant and it continued down Hwy 111 until we hit Date Palm Drive, and then turned north again. It was a pretty informative cruise down memory lane.
By the time we got back it was too late for the pool but just in time for Jeopardy. We settled in to the dim lights of the TV, not to mention the dim personalities. After Jeopardy it was time for the regular programming and we have now returned to the original programming I love so much. HaHa!
The weather outside is quite cool at this point since a cold spell has moved into the area. Our highs during the day are not going over 70 degrees and when the sun goes down it drops into the 30's. In bed is almost the only place you can stay warm. But you can't stay there all day and night. I tried once and it doesn't work. So we'll just have to put sweats on at night so that it isn't necessary to run the furnace any more than we have to. We held our ground until 10 and then retreated to the warmth of the Down Comforter.

When we were ready this morning we were off to another Doctor's appointment in Indio. I was going to get stuck with between 15-20 needles again. Sharon loves cracking jokes while I'm laying there like a human pincushion. She's also laughing when the doctor hooks the electrodes up to electrify the needles. After my appointment we tried to decide what we wanted to have for lunch and went all the way to Palm Springs on Highway 111 looking for a place. We finally turned up Date Palm and came all the way back to I-10 before I turned to go to McD's. If you can't decide what to eat, McDonald's is always a good fall back position.
Even though it was a bit nippy out today, when we got back home we decided to go to the pool. The water was about 88 degrees but it seemed nice and warm. I've devised a plan for getting into the pool. Take a hot shower and then walk slowly to the pool. By the time you get there the water seems nice and warm, even if it isn't.
When Sharon checked the mail this morning the cable for my recliner had come in. I decided not to do anything about it however, but to just rest my leg this afternoon. I'll work on it tomorrow, if the feeling comes over me.
After the pool we were home in time for Jeopardy again. We had intended to ask Dick and Linda Smith if they wanted to play Dominoes tonight but they weren't home all day today. By the time we came back from the pool, they were still not home.
Sharon wasn't cooking again tonight for Supper which was just fine with me. We actually each had a bag of popcorn for supper tonight. And then I finished off the popcorn with some fig newtons. It was a very nice touch indeed.
All night tonight while we watched TV the furnace was going on and off. There was enough on TV tonight to keep me up until almost 11:30. It seems like the really good stuff comes on Discovery after 10 o'clock. At least the crashing, bashing and high speed chase junk comes on at that time.
Saturday, February 14, 2009HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
We got up this morning with no plans for the day. Denny and Sue Gosser had asked us yesterday if we wanted to go to Mimi's Café with a group from Western Horizon, but our less-than-enthusiastic response must have indicated that we weren't really interested. We certainly would have gone with them by ourselves, but that wasn't the suggestion.
About 10:30 we got a call from Terry and Jo-anne Bertamini saying that they were in the park and inviting us over for coffee. We couldn't believe that they were here already having had to come from Yuma this morning and losing an hour along the way. Apparently they left Yuma at 6:30 this morning which they mistakenly thought was 7:30.
We stopped over to see them just before noon. We had coffee and conversation and decided that we would be in the pool by 2:30 this afternoon. Little did we know, at that time, that the hot water was shut off for the pool and hot tub. While the pool took a while to cool off, the effect on the hot tub was almost immediate. It cooled off to the low 90's in about two hours. By the time I went home it was like tepid bath water.
Terry and Jo-anne had invited us over for Dinner tonight, and we accepted. They had picked up some Rib-Eye steaks at Stater Brothers that Terry cooked on the grill. We had Baked Potatoes, Asparagus Spears, Salad and Garlic Bread. Everything was very good indeed. We stayed for awhile after Dinner just to catch up on the past year. We did some of that when we were in Yuma last week.
We were home in time to catch a couple of shows on TV tonight. Saturdays are a relatively poor night for TV anyway. We stayed up long enough to exhaust the offerings that were available for the night. Sharon folded up her tent a couple of hours before I did. I never like to go to bed too early because that only gets me up earlier in the morning. Most of the time I'm stretching to stay up until 10, but going to bed any earlier than that just gets me out of bed in the morning before 7. I don't need to get up any earlier. Getting my act together and getting going is another thing.

Sharon was off to church this morning and my job was to hold down the Fort against hostile Indians. She would also be stopping at the grocery store to pick up a few items for today and next week.
I also had to dump the holding tanks this morning, and I got that job done without too much hassle. It's a thankless, sh_ _ _ _ job but someone has to do it. She was in charge last year when I was hobbled.
By the time Sharon got home the hype for the Daytona 500 was in full swing and we started watching that while we ate lunch. They usually run the hype for a couple of hours before they actually run the race. The race had started and we began watching it until our "pool time" ran into it. We should have kept watching it because the pool was chilly at about 88 degrees and the hot tub seemed too hot. We only lasted over there for less than an hour between the two.
We were back in plenty of time for Jeopardy and Sharon started whipping up some BBQued Chicken Wings and Fried Zucchini Patties. They were both delicious especially when we finished them off with a slice of Banana Bread with Raisins and Chocolate Chips. Yum Yum!
TV tonight was going to be another yawner, but who has a choice with the crap they call programming now-a-days. We usually zip around the dial but even that wasn't good tonight.
Dick Smith stopped over tonight to see what time we would be going for Breakfast tomorrow. He stayed for about an hour talking before he left to go back home.
We stayed up until 10 before we finally gave up on the TV and crashed and burned. Beside we have to get up early for Breakfast.
