By the time I got up this morning I was feeling that today might be the turning point for this horrendous week that grabbed both of us and wouldn't let us go for love or money.  I felt that my turning point had been reached and was feeling like I would be getting better by leaps and bounds.
When Sharon got up I realized that my optimism was only speaking for me and not her.  She got up, took her shower, and took off to see the doctor again.  She didn't get right in, and out, like last time and was gone for about 3 hours.  By the time she got home she was ready for the bedroom again.
My optimism for today had been short lived.  Not for myself but certainly for Sharon.
I was in the exercise room when she left for the doctor.  I wanted to see if they had any equipment that I could rehab myself on while I was here.  There were a couple of stationery bikes that didn't fit my butt and a couple of other non-specific machines.  I only spent a few minutes on the machines and then I decided to go for a walk.   Made it halfway around the entry loop before the heat got to me.  I also didn't have my cane with me and was on my own.  I took a short cut back home.
I spent the rest of the day just staying out of Sharon's way and trying to stay quiet.  She would spend another day in bed and I was in charge of her prescriptions.
It was a pretty quiet afternoon around here with only half of us functioning.  By suppertime she was out of bed and laying on the couch.  This was going to be a long tough haul.
I watched TV for the night and the regular shows are starting to have new programs on again.  By the time they get in full swing it will be rerun season again for the summer.

Today had all the earmarks of an overall improvement for both of us.  Sharon got up whining about why I hadn't done the laundry.  I could tell that this was going to be a good day.  She hadn't given one whit about the laundry before now.
After Breakfast she took off with the laundry and I started vacuuming the hacienda.  She was happy with me again by the time she got done and back home again.
We had egg-salad sandwiches for lunch today.  It was the first time in a solid week that we didn't have to fend for ourselves.  I could get used to this again.
It looked like it would be another day to recuperate since she sat outside today in the sun, after lunch. Outside in the sun is not my forte' so I recouped inside in the air conditioning.  Sharon came back in, just in time for Jeopardy.
We were on our own again for supper tonight.  Neither of us felt like having too much to eat anyway.  I had a bowl of canned Chicken Gumbo that was quite good.
Tonight would be taken up with the tube again this evening. We even had a couple of new shows on tonight.
Sharon took an early leave by going to bed with her puzzle at 9 and I hung in there til 10 before I followed her to nana land.

I got up this morning with every confidence that this would be a "normal" day for both of us.  It was looking pretty good until Sharon headed toward bed at 12:30 and slept until 3.  So much for a quasi-normal day.
I felt good enough today to go to the exercise room and ride the bike for 15 minutes and then take a walk around the front loop of the campground.  I'm going to have to try to keep it up because the leg feels pretty good and I have the opportunity to rehab myself in the exercise room.  Besides the weather is very nice here.  It's supposed to get quite scorching over the next couple of days.
As I said I expected this to be a normal day and we would start calling our friends here.  For the last 9 days we've been cooped-up in the motorhome just watching TV.  It's been rather boring to say the least.  Although we didn't want to have anybody catch what we were carrying either.
The wind came up today and blew for most of the day today, meaning that the dish was not producing much TV for the day.  It managed to die down before prime time tonight so we were able to watch our favorite programs all night.
At this point I have no idea of when Sharon will be snapping out of this funk that she's in.  She told me last night that she's going to quit taking her medication today.
She said it may be what's causing her the upset stomach that she's been having.
I guess we'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see what's happening.

I was off to the exercise room right after I got done with my Journal this morning.  I did my 15 minutes on the bike and then I set off for my walk around the park. It makes me feel good that I can at least attempt to rehab myself while I'm here.
While I as walking this morning Sharon came up behind me and patted me on the butt.  She asked me why I hadn't been startled.  I didn't even hear her coming.  I was concentrating on my walk.  Frankly I was surprised to see her up and around this morning.
We came back home and started making a few phone calls this morning.  We hadn't seen anyone since we've been here and wanted to touch base if nothing else.  Corky and Deb Zimmermann were going to be busy today putting a toilet in his 5th wheel, Jayce had a bunch of things to do but nothing planned, and we knew that Mary and Jerry would be taking their daughter to Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix today.
We left around lunchtime and headed toward town and someplace to eat lunch.  We had been sequestered for the last 10 days and it was time to get out and have something different for lunch.  We finally settled on Burger King and I had a new Steakburger Deluxe and Fries, and Sharon had a Whopper.
After lunch we had decided we were going to take a trip over to Palm Creek Resort and see Corky and Deb for just a few minutes.  We had only been in Palm Creek once before and got lost inside the park.  We didn't have the map that time.  It's a beautiful resort and Corky and Deb got a real good deal on a month's stay this past month.  They're staying there with Jack and Rosann Derlein also from back home.  We only stayed for about an hour before we got back in the saddle and came home.
We were now content to just sit around and do nothing for the rest of the day.  Boy who would have ever thought a little day trip could accomplish so much.
Sharon was making Rigatoni and Meatballs for Supper tonight.  Along with that she choked a salad down me and made Garlic Bread to finish off the Dinner.  We still weren't up to wine for the meal so we just had a beverage of our choice.
The wind, which was a little brisk today calmed down tonight so we could watch TV on the dish.  There were a couple of new shows on tonight and we both lasted until 10 before we finally folded up our tent and headed for bed.  It was nice just to be feeling half way normal again for a change.

I was up before the Mrs.again this morning and by the time she got up I was already gone to the exercise room to work on my day.  When I got done with the bike and my walk she was just getting up.
We were finally going to get something taken care of today.  We had made plans with Corky and Deb to go out for lunch today.  The most logical place would be the Golden Corral on Florence Boulevard, and we told them we would meet them there at 1.
I also sent an e-mail to my cousin Tom in Marana and let them know that we were back and functioning.  They had told us yesterday that they were headed to Prescott for a week on Sunday so we caught them just in time.
After lunch we went over to Corky and Deb's for a couple of drinks, and some conversation.  After a while it got too warm to sit outside so we went into the air conditioning inside.  We stayed for a couple of hours before we finally left and came back home.
I gave my cousin Tom a call since he hadn't answered my e-mail today.  I wanted to make sure that tomorrow would be a good day for them and us to get together.  It was, so we set a time for us to be down there on Saturday.  It takes about an hour to drive down to their house in Marana, just north of Tucson.
It was still pretty warm out when we got home so we turned on the air for a little while as we watched a little tube.
Neither of us was going to be having anything for supper tonight since we'll still be full from lunch well into tonight.  We watched TV all night tonight.  There was a couple of new shows on tonight so we were entertained for the most part.  We both stayed up until 10 before we finally decided that this was all there was going to be.  We caved almost immediately afterward.
It was a beautiful day all day today.  It had been a perfect day for our coming back out again.  The whole day seemed to have worked out perfectly and it was certainly nice to be back and functioning again.  It had been 10 full days since we were put out of commission.

We actually had a plan for today when we got up this morning.  This afternoon we would drive down to Tucson to have dinner with my cousin Tom and Dawn and their daughter Erin & husband Chris.
We mostly sat around and watched a marathon on Discovery about the "Deadliest Catch."  As far as I know they've only had two seasons so where all the shows came from I'll never know.
By 3 o'clock we were ready to go and we only had to stop at the gas station to pick up some fuel before we left.  We actually decided to wait until we got back to fill up since we had a coupon for an additional 10 cents off on a gallon.
We got down to Tucson about 4 and we had a couple of drinks at Tom and Dawns before wee took off for Lil Abner's for Dinner.  Lil Abner's is a quaint little indoor/outdoor restaurant that's been there for years in the middle of a brand new residential section of Marana.  Eventually it'll be swallowed up by new development, but for now it's still there and functioning.  They only have Chicken, Ribs and steak on the menu but it's all very good.
By 7 we were back on the road headed north to Casa Grande.  It was a nice visit although very short.  It seems like that is the best we can do for this year.  It would have been too difficult to finagle a visit the last two times we were here.  I frankly wasn't walking too well the last two times we came through.
We called Mary and Jerry Milan on the way home to arrange for our trip to Mesa tomorrow to the Mesa Marketplace.  It will be our only chance to go this year and when we talked to Mary and Jerry earlier we asked them if they wanted to go.  So we just called to make the final arrangements.  We'll pick them up after Sharon gets home from church in the morning.
We both stayed up until 10 tonight.  The funny part was that Deadliest Catch was still on at 10 when I went to bed.  It had been a very long day of Crab Fishing.  We'll be up early again tomorrow.

Sunday, April 13, 2008

We hit the floor running this morning as Sharon was up for church at 7 and I tried to empty the trunk before she left.  When she gets back we'll pick up Mary and Jerry and drive up to the Mesa Marketplace.  It'll take us about an hour to get there since it's almost exactly 60 miles to get there.
We found the place where they rent scooters and I selected one for the day.  It actually cost me less to rent than the one down in Yuma, but it was more expensive per hour.  We were finished with the market in two and a half hours, and that included the Chili dog and beer that we had for lunch.  It always takes less and less time the more times you go through there.
We hopped back in the car and by this time the temperature had climbed to over 90 degrees.  Thank God for air conditioning in the car.  After a few minutes it was a nice cool ride back home.
Sharon took out steaks for us for supper tonight.  She had decided earlier today to have steaks and Baked Potatoes along with some Garlic Bread and a Salad.  It was very good but I wasn't very hungry probably because of the heat.  I left about half of my steak but Sharon will eat it over the next couple of days.  She's the "meat eater" in the family.
We sat around tonight just watching a little tube.  There were a couple of our favorites that came on with new shows tonight.  We both managed to last until the bewitching hour tonight.  The weather is actually supposed to get hotter tomorrow.  It's going to be a scorcher all week this week.
