The wind had finally subsided this morning after this long stretch of hurricane-like breezes.  We were getting more depressed every day.
We were off to the casino this morning for our last hurrah.  As usual, the food was excellent and we left there with full stomachs.  Sharon wasn't feeling that good this morning but she went anyway knowing I couldn't go without her.  When we arrived we found a line waiting outside the Dining Room to get in.  It was beginning to look like the line at the Agua Caliente a couple of years ago before they changed their Breakfast price upward.
We stopped at Walgreen's on the way home cause Sharon knew I'd be coming down with her cold in the near future.  We picked up $26 worth of OTC medicines for the sickies in this house after tomorrow.
We had to clean up our site today since we'll be leaving tomorrow.  We woke up this morning to find our brand new plastic mat had the seam ripped off of it.  The wind had taken another casualty. We had just picked it up in Yuma last month.  We picked up our lawn chairs and just generally put everything away.  I dumped the holding tanks to give us a fresh start for next week.  By the time we got done my friend decided that she would head for the bedroom and spend the afternoon.  We also needed to have the windshield washed and I handled that quite easily, although I was a little shaky up on the stepladder.  I knew that losing my balance and falling the two feet would change my life again for the next 4 months.  I managed without incident.
By this time it was cutting into the pool schedule.  Sharon had stopped at the pool this morning to check the temp and it was 88 at that time.  It'll be a little warmer before 2 o'clock rolls around.  I got dressed and left for the warm water.  When I got there the pool was empty except for two women but it soon had a couple of dozen people including the Browns and Parents who will be working the Golf Tournament again this year.  Kraft-Nabisco waived the $75 fee for volunteering, just for them.
By the time I got back home Sharon was awake but not up yet.  She got up and rolling shortly after I got home.  She wasn't up to cooking but who cares.  I was still working on my Breakfast from the casino.  I threw a pasty in the oven and had that for supper.
Since the wind was now non-existent I disconnected the cable for tonight and we watched TV on the dish all night.  It was nice being back to my regular programming for a change.  Sharon even stayed up until 10 and we both went to bed at that time.  It had been a very nice day but it was too little, too late.

We were headed back to Casa Grande, AZ this morning by way of Quartzsite.  We had a rocky start as our batteries were dead as we tried to start the motorhome this morning.  We hooked up the jumper cables from the car and we were ready to go in about 15 minutes We stopped in Coachella at Carl's Jr. for a Breakfast Burrito.  It was quite good indeed.
We stopped at the George Patton Museum at the Chiriaco Summit. Just our luck after having passed this place at least 25 times, today was the day they were refinishing the parking lot.  So I had to walk some extra distance to get in and then back out again.  I was aching something fierce by the time we got back to the motorhome.
By the time we got to Quartzsite neither of us were feeling too chipper. The dish was working just fine and there was no wind. We had pork tenderloin sandwiches for supper and they were quite good.  Sharon had BBQued a pork tenderloin last week
We were both under the weather by the time we got here.  And it didn't get any better All night.  By the time we went lo bed we were sleeping in different rooms.

We left Quartzsite early today mainly because we were both sick as dogs.  It seems like we both have colds but I would have preferred to stay here another night and just stay in bed.
We took off and Sharon offered to drive, so I just let her.  She drove as far as Buckeye where we turned south to get around Phoenix.  We've used this bypass before on our way to Casa Grande.  It's a 2-lane road that also bypasses Gila Bend.
After we made the turn east at Gila Bend we realized we might not make it with the gas we had left in the tank.  I put in 25 gallons at Quartzsite.  So we were looking for a station and found one selling gas for $3.69.  We put in 10 gallons just enough to get to Casa Grande.  We decided this time, we would fill up on our in, so we stopped at Fastrip and picked up a load at $3.15.
We weren't accepting guests nor were we making any visits by the time we got in our site.  We were ready for bed by the time we got settled.
Sharon had decided that she was going to the Doctor to see if she could get something for her condition.  By the time she got back she had been diagnosed with Bronchitis.  After she took her medicine she went directly to bed.  Poor thing.
I stayed up until 9 Sharon got up one time to watch al little TV and when she went back to bed I went with her.  We were both not functioning very well.

By the time we got up this morning it was plainly going to be a full day in bed for both of us.  Although my day in bed would be spent in my recliner, and Sharon was up long enough to tell me she was going back to bed.  We turned on the air conditioner in the afternoon and that was our excitement for the day.  We were both in bed by 8.

By all the coughing and hacking and pill popping that was going on last night it looks like it's going to be another sick day were calling in again.  These colds are quickly getting old.  It may not so quickly since we started getting sick when we left California on Tuesday.  I guess we just have to keep taking our medicines and wait this thing out for now.

Nothing seems to be any better today so it looks like another day I'll see Sharon a couple of times between her trips back to the bedroom.  This sickness has really gotten ahold of us.  I had to take the car and go to the dumpster today, and on the way back  I hooked up our utilities.  Another day without anything substantial to eat, but who cares?

Sunday, April 6, 2008

This will be one of the first weekends that Sharon will not be going to church.  She hasn't missed on a Saturday or Sunday for years.
O got up just in time to catch my Sunday political shows.  Not that I need to watch them now since they're all saying the same thing in an election year.
By the time Sharon got up it looked like she was going to have a better day today also.  She had her Breakfast and then decided that we needed some essentials from the store.  She took off and was back again in a hour or so.  She brought us back a couple of half pint cups of ice cream along with the other stuff.  It was a nice change of pace at least for now.  I think she'll be making a serious stop at Cold Stone Creamery sometime this week when she feels a little better.
She plunked herself on the couch for most of the afternoon but didn't actually go back to bed.  I think things are definitely taking a turn for the better.  By 8 she decided that it was now time to go to bed and do a puzzle.  She bade her farewell and headed for the feathers.
I stayed up until 10 before I finally turned out the light and followed her.
