Our first "night on the road" was quite quiet.  Considering the traffic that goes by here during the day, I figured it was going to be noisy last night.  It quieted right down at 10 PM and didn't start again until about 6AM.  Old people get up really early, and then they always figure they have to go someplace, hence the early traffic.
Sharon and I really didn't have anything to do today since we weren't even supposed to be here yet.  So I got a leisurely start before I "jumped" in the shower and got myself ready.  She looked like she was going somewhere and I didn't want to miss it.  We had a couple of pieces of toast for Breakfast so I knew that wasn't going to hold us for long.  And I was right.  She had intended to do some grocery shopping today and then eat lunch in town.  On the way in I suggested we go to the Pizza Hut Buffet along with a couple of other suggestions.  We settled on Pizza Hut.
After eating we went to Von's Grocery and picked up a few things for the next couple of days, and then we headed for home.  We stopped at Catalina and picked up our mail on the way.
We sat around outside for the next few hours and read.  She had a book she had started a couple of days ago and I had a new Family Motor Coach Magazine.  Of course, last night's wind had died down considerably so it was very pleasant just sitting in the shade.
By 5 we headed over to Desert Pools along with the Zimmermanns to see Jack & Rosann Derlein and watch Jack play Pickleball.  It was fun just sitting around harassing him while he played.  We stayed over there until about 8:30 when we finally came home.  It was quite pleasant sitting outside even after the sun had gone down. It's supposed to warm up later in the week.  I can't wait.
I watched TV until 10 and Sharon headed to the bedroom where she pretended to do a puzzle through the beer fog.  She was still awake however when I got there at 10.

We had a date today with Corky and Deb to go to the Pak Inn and have a Chinese lunch.  We checked into the campground early and by 9:30 we were ready for just about anything.  We stopped at the office and registered and paid for the Wi-Fi for the next two weeks.  It's easier to have the W-Fi than it is to use our cell phone for e-mail.
By 1 o'clock Corky and Deb picked us up and we headed over to eat.  The food at the Pak Inn was just as good as it always was.  In fact we even noticed a few items on the menu that hadn't been there before.  The four of us walked out of there talking a nap for this afternoon.  Man, they sure know how to put on a feast.
By the time we got home Sharon said she was too full to go to the pool.  I certainly had to agree with her, although it was a lovely day for a swim.  We just sat around outside and read the junk newspapers.
At suppertime it was still to early to think about eating again.  We had nothing planned, and it would be just snacks if we ate anything.  As it turned out, we both had a bag of popcorn around 8 o'clock.
TV was repeats tonight but I sat and watched it anyway.  I surfed most of the time just looking for just a hint of entertainment.  I didn't have much luck tonight so I just settled for what was on.  We buttoned it up and put it all away at 10, and just meekly trekked  to the sleep chamber.

Today was a normal day except for the fact it was Taco Wednesday at the V.F.W.  We had to just bide our time until it was time to go for lunch.  We called Corky and Deb and they opted not to go, and Jack and Rosann don't care for the V.F.W.  We'll be on our own today which is not a problem.  It'll just be easier to find a place to sit when we get there.  At this time of the winter it's usually very crowded.
At noon we drove over there and as usual the parking lot was full which is not a good sign for finding a place to sit.  To our amazement, the bar room was almost empty when we went inside.  We've never had an easier time finding a place.  The back room was full with groups of people.  They must have called the 50-50 number already and the crowd left.  We weren't complaining.
I ordered a soft taco and a taco salad and they filled them both so full that I had enough filling to fill my taco bowl a second time.  The food was good as usual and so were the pitchers of suds we drank to wash it all down.  We stayed for awhile after we finished eating to polish off the pitcher we were drinking.
When we got home we wanted to go to the pool and I hobbled over there with my walking sticks and found out that we are parked a little far from the pool.  This would be my first time in the pool this year and I was anxious to get in there.  But the pool was deliciously warm and I found that walking around in the water was much easier than walking on land.  I guess it had never occurred to me before now.  It should have but it didn't.  We also did a stint in the hot tub which I was advised against 2 months ago.  The doctor told me my ankle  would throb if I went in there.  It didn't and I was very happy with the results.  We saw the Browns and Parents, friends from Michigan, before we came back home.
At suppertime Sharon announced that she was hungry for Eggs, Bacon and Hash Browns for supper tonight. That sounded real good and it was.  Along with the Toast it was enough to send me to my chair and a quick nap.  I wasn't concerned that I'd miss anything good on TV tonight.  And I didn't.  I just watched what I wanted on the West networks when it came on.  There wasn't much to worry about missing.
We took down the shingle and locked the shop at 10, and ambled to the feathers.  It had been a very good day all around.  Tomorrow I go to the Orthopedic Surgeon to get my prognosis.

We were up and ready to roll this morning by 9 AM.  I had a Doctor's appointment this morning to get some up-to-date information about my Drumstick.  When we got there they sent me immediately for x-rays.  I figured that's what they would do for me.  I must have picked the best doctor to handle my case as the office is always busy and the appointments run on time.  I got in to see Doctor Stabile as soon as my x-rays were done.
Me and the Mrs. Were in there about 20 minutes as he reported that my break is calcifying even though it may be slow probably because of my Diabetes.  He's recommending Physical Therapy to wean me off the Boot and the Crutches.  We'll only be here for another month so I need to start immediately.
We left and went to Denny's for Breakfast.  We had their Special which was Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Hash Browns and two pieces of French Toast.  Sharon had Strawberries on hers and I had Cherries.  The Breakfast was indeed very good and only $6.99.  We were done and back home by about noon.
We stopped at the Bakery Thrift Store on Indian Canyon on our way home and found a few items that we couldn't live without.  We didn't get a chance to taste any of the stuff when we got home, having just eaten Breakfast before.
We would wait for awhile but we were definitely intending to go to the pool today.  It was a very nice day with the temp hovering around 80.  It would be tough to let this day go by without a little dip in the warm water of the pool.  I also got into the hot tub again today and that seemed to work out just fine.  No throbbing in the ankle.  It was also quite a bit warmer today than yesterday.  All the regular gang was there today.
We got back home about 4:30 but neither of us was up for supper.  I suggested that we snack for supper and Sharon was all for it.  We brought out the Ritz Crackers and three or four spreadable things that went down real well with our cocktails.  We also had some Pizza Rolls and some Ranch flavored Rice Cakes that tasted real good with the spreadables on them.
Tonight was a typical night for TV and we watched whatever we could find that was interesting.  Sharon got so bored that she got out the cards and played Solitaire for a couple of hours.  She won twice in the time she was playing.  She always wins and she wonders why I quit playing Cribbage with her.  Her "Blind Stupid Luck" wins more often than my skill.  It isn't fair.  She was in bed however, by 9 and I stayed up, still trying to find something to watch at 10:15.  Failing in my endeavor, I finally gave up and went horizontal for the night.

Another day another dollar.  We had nothing to do today and it showed by the leisurely start we got this morning.  The first job on Sharon's list was to deliver the printer from under the bed.  I would attempt to print the Newsletter today and get that ready to send out.  I refilled the cartridges the last time I had the printer out so I don't know if I'm going to have trouble with the printer or not.  And as it turned out, I was having trouble with the colors of the Newsletter. I'll have to work on that over the next couple of days.
We had a Cheese/Broccoli Soup and Toasted Cheese Sandwiches for lunch today.  Sharon had picked up the package of soup at the Bakery Thrift Store and she made it up today.  You just add water to the mix and then simmer it for about 10 minutes.  It actually turned out quite good and I'm not a "soup person"
After lunch we got ourselves ready and headed toward the pool.  It was another fabulous day and I'm sure the pool will be full of people.  My assumption was correct and there were a bunch of people "soaking" in the warmth.  It's getting easier for me to get into and out of the pool.  I think the first couple of attempts are the worst, not knowing what to expect.  Of course the long walk home is the worst part about going to the pool.  We didn't get a good choice of sites when we came in on Tuesday.
By the time we got home Sharon had decided that she was going to do laundry today and get it done for the weekend.
We had Chicken Strips and Homemade Fries along with a salad for Supper tonight.  It was excellent and one of my favorite meals.  By the time we got done with dishes she took off with the clothes and headed toward the laundry.  She was gone for only a couple of hours and when she got back she said she had done the ironing also.  That was a pretty quick trip and she said she had 3 loads.
Tonight would be another failed attempt at finding something original on TV to watch.  So until I went to bed at 10 I would be surfing the channels looking for entertainment.

We were off to the Casino for Breakfast this morning about 8:30.  Since they only do the Buffet on weekends now, we had to adjust.  They put the gimp up close to the buffet so walking on crutches has it advantages.  I managed to walk around and get my own food this morning.  I did it in Yuma and also at the Pak Inn last week and it worked out pretty good.  The food this morning was excellent as usual.
On the way home we contemplated doing a rummage sale at Joshua Springs Resort but came home instead for a bathroom break.  We left immediately to rummage but on the way out of the park we put a couple of chairs in a spot that I preferred over where we are now.  I told Sharon if the chairs are still there when we get back we'll move over there.
We couldn't find a thing we couldn't do without while we rummaged and so we came back home.  The chairs were still on the new spot so we prepared to move.  It took us about a half hour to get ourselves resituated but now were another 200 feet closer to the pool.
By the time we got settled the wind started to act up, and by the time 2 PM and pool time rolled around, it was blowing pretty solid.  We were definitely going to have another windy day/night.  The Browns and Parents showed up at the pool just after we did and they were still there after we left.  It was a bout 3:30 when we ambled home and we had had enough of the wind in the pool, although the water was still very warm, a temperature that it won't maintain by tomorrow.  This wind will cool it off by 4-5 degrees and unless Jack is on the ball, it will take a day or so to bring it back up.
We had leftover Lasagna for supper tonight.  It was from our Dinner with Clay and Jerie in Yuma, and Sharon had frozen it immediately afterwards.  It remained very good and we had a Salad and Garlic Bread and a nectar to finish off the entree.
There was no using the dish tonight because of the wind so we plugged a movie into the VCR instead.  It was an old movie but we hadn't seen it.  Harrison Ford starred in "A Clear and Present Danger."  It was over about 9 and the wind had died down enough to watch the dish again.  We watched a show about dinosaurs on the Discovery Channel.  That took us til 10 and the nite, nite hour sneaked (snuk?) up on us.  We rocked all night to the gentle sway of the wind.

Sunday, March 2, 2008

By this morning the wind was still howling and not seeming to let up.  I guess this will be our fortune for the whole day today.  It had no intention of letting up anytime soon.  Sharon had the brilliant idea of having  burritos for Breakfast this morning.  We had leftover Tortillas and she scrambled some eggs and fried some Sausage and with a little cheese and Salsa we had Breakfast Burritos.  Yum, Yum.
Sharon was off to church right after Breakfast and on the way home she would be stopping at the grocery stored and picking up a few things for the next couple of days.  The wind was still blowing at this time so I hooked up the Cable.  Normally we don't use the Cable here and now the programming has been cut in half, so there is less reason to hook it up.
By the time Sharon got back we figured the wind had been blowing long and hard enough to cool off the pool a couple of degrees and we decided that we wouldn't be "soaking" today.  I sugge3sted that we go up for the Ice Cream Social this afternoon and Sharon agreed.
At 2 we took the car and went to the Upper Clubhouse to check out the Ice Cream Social.  They had 3 scoop Banana Splits for $2.75 and that sounded like a pretty good deal.  It was a load of Ice Cream but we both managed to "choke" it all down.  It was very good and left us wanting a nap for the rest of the afternoon.  We got home and took a little snoozer for about an hour.
Sharon was making Chicken Ala King for supper tonight.  We hadn't that particular concoction for quite some time and I like it very much.  She also made up some Grands biscuits to slide underneath the creamed chicken.  It turned out very nice indeed.
The wind continued to blow tonight so our choices on TV would be limited again.  Besides we didn't know what channels we were getting or where to find them.  We must have thrown away the TV list when we checked in just assuming that we would be using the dish all the time we were here.  We both stayed up until 10 but Sharon finished off the night in bed doing a puzzle, while I watched America's Funniest Videos on TV.
