Sharon got up and ready this morning and started cleaning the shanty with a vengeance.  After she was done she decided to take a walk down to the corner of Corkill and Dillon.
Phil and Joyce Bach would be coming in today and they'll probably see Sharon on they're way in.  They'll probably be in at their usual time around 10 and she'll still be hoofing it out on the road.
There were no sites near us by the time they got in so they had to secure one on the other side of the Lower Park.  We'll have to take the car when we go over there cause it's a little far for me to walk.
At 2 we readied ourselves for the pool and went to soak in the nice warm water.  The wind had died down even though Phil and Joyce had said it was blowing like hell in. Banning which is not very far from Catalina.  But we never encountered any of it while we were there soaking
We were back home by 4, and without the wind, we even got to see Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on the dish.  We like it better on the Dish instead of the cable because it comes on earlier.  At 5 the final episode of Terminator came on and it was going to be a 2 hour special.
We called Phil and Joyce to see if they wanted to play Dominoes tonight and they would be coming over at 7.  When they got here I was trying to record a show on Discovery called AREA 51, and having no luck what-so-ever.  It wouldn't be coming on til 9 so I asked Phil if he would record it on his VCR.  While he was gone we got the Dominoes ready for the big contest.
We finished up the game about 9 and "Yours Truly" was the victor.  We sat around just talking and snacking til 10 when Phil and Joyce headed for home.  We were also finished with today so we decided to pack it up and put it away.

We found a flyer in the Sunday paper that Rite Aid was selling Dark Rum for $9.95 but when we got there we found 2-Liter Coke for $1.79 and the price of the "right" Rum was suspect.  We did not find what we were looking for so we left and went to McDonald's for a coupon Big Mac.  We had planned this from home.
We ate in McDonald's and we were on our way home shortly after that.  We actually took a ride up Palm Drive to where the residential started cause Sharon wanted to tour.  We just went up and back and then headed for home.
I got a call from the Hospital concerning a cancellation at Physical Therapy.  I took a 2PM appointment for tomorrow.  I have another appointment on Friday.
It was almost time for the pool by the time we got back into the campground.  We just sat out in the sun for awhile before we got ourselves ready for the "soak".  There was quite a few people in the pool today and I was joking with Roy about the Train derailment in Mecca last night.  They were over there yesterday morning on a hike through Ladder Canyon.  Apparently the canyon is not near the tracks.
We were back home early enough to catch the final answer on Jeopardy.  Sharon was going to make Black Beans and Rice for supper tonight.  She had some sausage and some leftover shrimp that she decided to throw into the pot.  She rounded off the meal with Garlic Bread and it turned out very good.
We called Phil and Joyce to play Dominos tonight but they opted out.  We'll see them tomorrow when we go to Taco Wednesday at the V.F.W.
We missed the Chinese Auction at the Clubhouse tonight by the time we got done eating.  Neither of us was too excited about going anyway so we just sat around at home and watched some tube.  As usual, there was nothing earthshaking on tonight except Jericho.  Everything else was just repeats.  Sharon played Soduko most of the night.  She's never content to "just" watch TV.

It was the day for our regular stint at the V.F.W.  today for Taco Wednesday.  The Hospital called me early and cancelled my PT Appointment.  They said that my Therapist failed to come in this morning.  I was relieved not having to go over there with beer on my breath today.
We took off for Palm Springs this morning to find Office Max for printer cartridges.  I checked out the price online yesterday and the going rate seems to be about the same.  I wanted to start printing the Newsletter this morning, and I wasn't having any luck refilling.  We were only gone for about 45 minutes over and back.
Sharon went for a walk but not on her usual route this morning.  She wanted to mosey through the park and check out the patio sales this morning.  While she was out she said she'd stop at Phil and Joyce's and tell them that we didn't have to go for lunch early today because my 2 o'clock appointment was cancelled.
We were ready to go for lunch at our usual time around noon and got in the car and headed for Phil and Joyce's.  We got there just after 12:15 and the place was crowded.  Just about how it is all the time at this time of day on Wednesdays.  We managed to find a booth which is a bit unusual to say the least.  In fact we've never been in a booth before.
We had our food and our usual 4 pitchers of beer before we joined Paul Brown and Kay Ellis for a last pitcher.  A pitcher would serve all six of us one glass of beer.  We were actually some of the last people to leave today.  The bar was still full but both Dining Rooms were empty.
By the time we got home at 3:30 Sharon decided there would be no pool for her today.  Which also meant there would be no pool for me either.  I need some help from her when we go to the pool so "soaking" was out for the day.  We actually went immediately to our snoozing positions, me in the recliner and her on the couch.  We woke up just in time for supper.
I had the leftover Broccoli and Cheese Soup that we had picked up at the Thrift Store the other day.  I think we'll probably pick up some more if we get back there in the future.  Perhaps on Friday after my next PT appointment at the Hospital.
The wind was back again tonight so we hooked up the cable and watched that tonight.  There was really nothing on tonight and Discovery got a good watching again.  It seems that Discovery is one of the major things we've been watching this year, mainly because of the writer's strike this year which has since been settled.  But then we won't see any new shows for a couple of weeks yet.  By the time we get new shows it'll be summer and at that time who cares?

When I finally got functioning this morning I realized that I had picked up the wrong cartridge for the printer yesterday.  I had to make another quick trip to Office Max to exchange the one I had.  The black cartridge was a different number than the color ink.  I never had that problem before.
I got back in a hurry and got the cartridge into the machine and printed up the Newsletter lickety split.  It did cost us a fortune however, for the cartridges.  I guess that's the cost of having a Newsletter.  By lunchtime I had everything printed, folded, stapled and stamped and ready to go for this month.
We had Hot Dogs for lunch today and with all that we accomplished today, it was looking like a very good day.  Sharon and Joyce decided that they would take in the Fashion Show at the Upper Clubhouse this afternoon.  They would have swimsuits on parade today.  I decided to go to the pool early and Phil joined me for the big soak.
All the gang showed up today albeit later than usual it seemed.  Me and the Mrs. Came home about 4 just in time for peanuts and coke before supper.  Sharon would be making Tator Tot Casserole for our Dining pleasure this evening.  We haven't had that for quite some time and not yet during this winter.
We went to Phil and Joyce's for Dominoes tonight and I think Phil won one game and Joyce won the other.  We played two games of Double-Nine Chicken Foot.  Sharon and I couldn't have bought a victory tonight.  We got home about 10:30 and it had been a long day for me with all the running around and getting the Newsletter ready to mail.  I watched a little tube while I got ready for bed.  Sharon was in bed already doing a puzzle.

We were off at 9 this morning with Phil and Joyce checking out the rummage sales in the parks around us.  There were supposed to be 2 good ones right near us.  We stopped at Dillon Estates for the first one and the sales would be throughout the park.  I offered to drive today since I couldn't walk anyway.  By the time we got inside the park it was easier for them to just walk around than to hop back in the car and be driven.  It was a little different in Desert Crest Resort.  The sales were a long way in between each one and we drove to all of them.  I jumped out of the car a couple of times when Sharon though I might be interested in something but for the most part I'm kind of picky about the treasures that I buy.  And in fact by the time we were done, they hadn't found a single thing that they had wanted to purchase.
We came back home and it was almost lunchtime.  Sharon went over to the office and picked up our mail and our tax return was in the bunch.  We signed it and got it back in the mail so we can get our money back as soon as possible.
Sharon whipped up Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwiches for lunch today.  They were quite tasty and by the time we finished lunch we would be going to the pool.  We had to go early today because I had a Physical Therapy appointment at 4 this afternoon and we' have to be out of the pool by 3 and still get to Palm Springs by 3:45.  We managed to make it over there and get the paperwork filled out by 3:45.  I still had to wait 15 minutes cause my appointment wasn't until 4.  The Therapy took about an hour and we were on our way back home again.
Since it would be about 5:30 when we got back home Sharon suggested that we go to the VFW and get a Fish Fry for supper tonight.  I wasn't cooking so it sounded like a good idea to me. Besides we'd have a couple of pitchers of beer which sounded very good to both of us.
By the time we got back we stopped at Phil and Joyce's for just a little while.  We had a beer there and then we went home.  We watched TV for awhile and then headed off to Dreamland for the rest of the night.  It was still only about 10.

Saturday, March 8, 2008

We were off this morning, to the Agua Caliente Casino with Phil and Joyce to enjoy their wonderful Buffet Breakfast which did not disappoint.  We found the key to getting waffles this morning...............ask for them.  Apparently they don't cook 'em and stack 'em up, they're cooked to order.  A nice piece of information to store for the future.  As usual, we left there wanting no more food today, at least for a long while.  As we got home we were still in time to go to the Upper Clubhouse for the Craft Sale they have every Saturday morning.  Like the rummage sales on Friday we couldn't find a thing we couldn't live without.
When we got back Sharon took off with the laundry and got that caught up for now.  She thought she was gone for a long time but the 2 hours she was gone was about normal for laundry.  I'm an expert at knowing how long it takes her.(At least over the last 3 months)  She was done by 1 o'clock.
We were ready for the pool at 2 and we mosied on over.  The water was nice and warm but not as warm as yesterday.  It was 90 today and 93 yesterday.  Almost a little too warm but who's complaining?  I'm merely stating a fact.
We were at the pool until about 4 when we came home just in time for Final Jeopardy and then Wheel of Fortune.  Sharon was awesome at "Wheel" today and I never got a single one.  DRAT!!
We had leftover Tator Tot Casserole for supper tonight, along with pickled beets.  She decided not to choke a salad down me tonight.  She pities me every now and then and let's me off the "Salad" hook.
After the dishes, and incidentally I'm drying again, we sat down to our favorite pastime.  At least it's my favorite pastime.  There wasn't much on but I found a couple of good repeats that I enjoy.  I don't enjoy the repeats, but I enjoy the shows that repeated if that's makes any sense.  We lasted until 10 before we drifted into slumber in the "room with no chairs".  This day had had a very nice start and the finish was not too bad either, although my leg was sore all day from therapy yesterday.  Sometimes you just have to play the hand that's dealt.

Sunday, March 9, 2008

I was up early this morning writing my Journal from yesterday.  I had no particular reason for being up early except that I couldn't sleep so I figured there was no sense in staying in bed and rolling around.
By the time Sharon got up it was time for her to eat her Breakfast and get ready for church.  She would also be stopping for groceries on the way home and then picking up a surprise for lunch.
I decided to try and dump the Black Water Tank while she was gone.  Now that I'm walking a bit without the crutches and boot it seemed like that I would be able to do it myself.  I've worried in the past about getting my hands dirty and then contaminating my crutches and everything else before I could get my hands washed.  Today I was able to get cleaned up before I handled the crutches again.  It all worked out pretty well for the job.
Sharon came home and decided she would keep me after learning that I did the dumping today.  She arrived with the groceries and the "surprise" for lunch.  The surprise turned out to be chili dogs from Wienerschnitzel.  They had a deal that was 5 for $5.  It's been going on for some time now.  The Chili Dogs we "okay" but nothing to write home about.  The Coney Dogs from A&W are better tasting.
By the time Sharon got the groceries put away it was time for the pool.  The water was cooler again today at 88 degrees.  If it gets much colder I won't be swimming in it any more.  It get way too cold when you're going from the pool to the hot tub., and it takes me a while to get there.  The pool was quite crowded today however, with a lot of noodles.  We stayed til our usual time at 3:30 and then came back home for cocktail hour and a little Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
I didn't care too much for supper tonight.  It was okay but not something I might be interested in again.  It was a convoluted concoction with Fried Chicken, little ravioli type pasta and Vodka Sauce.  It was accompanied by the inevitable Salad and a glass of wine.  I'm not afraid of experiments but this one was not compatible with my tastes.  By the time I was done eating I had an upset stomach. Or maybe it was disappointment that affected my stomach.
We called Corky and Deb Zimmermann tonight to see if they knew about the Eastern States party over here tomorrow.  Corky reported that Deb had hurt her back on their cruise and was in quite a bit of pain.  So we don't know if we'll see them or not tomorrow.
We watched the Telly for the night.  Bad shows dominated the tube tonight so even the repeats were a sorry epitaph.  We both bravely stayed up until 10 and then caved for the night.
