Today was delivery day for LP Gas.  We expect that sometime this morning the guy will be here with the truck.  We called him last week and he told us that today was the earliest that he could make it.  So we didn’t make any plans for this morning thinking that we’d probably be out of gas by this morning.  We’ve been running on empty
since last Thursday, but we’ve actually got gas left for the furnace and it’s running just  fine.
The weather has warmed up considerably so we’re really not using as much gas at night as we were.  But neither of us thought we’d make it to today on what we had left.  It turns out we probably still had a gallon or so in the tank when the guy showed up around 10am. He quickly put in 14 gallons and we were still continuously running.  Sometimes it’s all in the timing.
We didn’t have anything planned for this afternoon either thinking the gas guy might show up late today.  Sometimes you can’t count on them to show up when they say they are going to.  They mean well but sometimes it just doesn’t work out.
In any event we got our gas and everything worked out just fine.
By not having any plans this afternoon I just sat around and watched a movie this afternoon on AMC.  Something I haven’t been able to do since the trouble we were having with DirecTV.  The movie will record halfway and then the channel will go black.  We’ve actually been able to watch Jeopardy in its entirety for the last 3 days, and are hoping that will continue into the future.  Later on we actually caught another full Jeopardy and the TV for the night stayed good and steady.
We had a couple of reality shows on tonight so the programming sucked tonight, although they just ran NCIS a little late even though it was a repeat.  I say, ENOUGH with repeats, right now it’s the end of January.  2 months of repeats over Christmas is plenty to have to endure.
We surfed for the night with programs we had already recorded on National Geographic and Animal Planet.  And we still made it to our normal bedtime, 10:15.

Since we couldn’t go for Breakfast yesterday, we were off to the Cottage Too this morning.  The Leducs and Bertaminis would meet us there.  And with that we had seats waiting for us when we arrived at 9:30.  Henry and Arlene and Terry and JoAnne always show up early whenever we go anywhere together.
The Cottage Too really wasn’t that busy this morning which is quite unusual.  The place was full but it really wasn’t packed like usual.  But service was good and so was the food.  We sat and had 6 wonderful meals and a load of conversation.  Before we left, and on the way out, we invited everybody over for a “Happy Hour” this afternoon.
The day was sunshiny and bright and was expected to warm up this afternoon.  The wind of the last few days has died down and it turned into a perfectly lovely day.
By 3 o’clock it was a perfect day for an outside gathering.  We got together and had a real good time with “drinks” and snacks even though the road next to our site was extremely noisy today.  It seemed like every loud car and noisy motorcycle decided to drive past this afternoon.
In any event we sat around and just talked until it started getting cold.  That usually happens when the Sun is almost about to set for the night.  The temp goes down about 15 degrees when Mr. Sun goes behind the mountain, Mt. San Jacinto.
For the rest of the night we sat in front of the TV to watch repeats again tonight.  The Liberals are still running their award shows so it becomes “surf night” more often than not at this time of the year.  We stayed up until 10:30 tonight before we gave it all up.

Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Another nice and bright day greeted us this morning as we clambered out of bed.  It would be warming up considerably during the day today.
It was another Taco Wednesday today and we would be participating later today.  We made no plans to be picked up, or to pick anybody up, so I guess we’ll just find our way over there by ourselves.  We’ll meet Terry and JoAnne and Henry and Arlene there around noon.
As we drove up to the parking lot it didn’t seem overly crowded, but that is sometimes not a good indicator of whether or not the place is crowded on the inside.  Upon entry we found the front Dining Room full, while the back Room still had some seating left.At this point in the year the staff at the club are usually overwhelmed by the volume of people, and that doesn’t seem to be the case this year.  It’s nice just being able to come in when you want and find a place to sit.
We ordered late again today and didn’t get our food until 1:30,which is when they theoretically close the kitchen.  But at least the waitress knew where to deliver the food,  unlike last week, when they didn’t have a clue who ordered what.  And the waitress bragged about having done “this” for 12 years.  She wasn’t here this week. Everything worked out well this week.
After leaving the club we went home and Sharon headed straight for the bedroom and me to my recliner.  I took a nap in my recliner and Sharon took a sleep in the bedroom.
We got up in time for Supper but neither of us felt like eating much so we just fended for ourselves later on.
We spent the night in front of the magic tube watching repeats again.  I keep wondering when the repeats will cease for this year, but it doesn’t look like anytime soon.

We were up this morning with a plan to go to Frankinbun Restaurant which is famous for its Chicken and Waffles on a Stick.  Unfortunately I woke up with trouble with one of my eyes.  I had an eye that was burning and watering even after putting drops in it.  Sharon predicted that after a while I probably would turn into a real bear over this condition.  It really didn’t get that bad but it did become very uncomfortable by the time we would have left for the lunch.
Sharon called Terry and JoAnne and cancelled for today but said we would do it in the future, maybe next week.
Every once in a while I fail to put enough “nighttime gel” in my dry eyes and I end up suffering the next day.  Today was one of those days with reference to one eye.
In any event we cancelled our date top have lunch at Frankinbun.
For the rest of the day I mostly sat and watched TV and rested my eyes intermittently throughout the afternoon.  I didn’t sleep or nap, I just closed them for a few minutes til the pain went away.
Sharon decided that she was going to bum-around downtown Desert Hot Springs for the afternoon.  She like to visit K-Mart, the Dollar Stores and even the Thrift Shops to see what she can find.  She like to shop for cheap books to read and I’m sure she’ll come back home with at least a couple of those.
True to form she came back with three books but also some fresh fruit and Apple Fritters for the big guy.  She’s never been able to go into a store and buy just one thing.
She made it home in time to make a meatloaf and Fried Potatoes for Supper.  We also had Creamed Corn and then finished up the meal with a little slice of an Apple Fritter.  It was all quite good and hit the very desirable spot.
For the rest of the night we sat and watched repeats on the Telly.  The new shows are going to be coming back on next week.  I can’t wait for that to happen.  We stayed up late tonight to watch a new episode of Chopped on the FoodNetwork.  It kept us up until about 10:45 tonight before it was over.

Friday, February 1, 2019

We were off earlier than usual this morning to the Cottage Too to meet Terry and JoAnne and their friends Frank and Candy.  We showed up a few minutes late since they wanted to meet us there at 8:45 this morning.  Sometimes by the time you get up and get all the things that need to be done finished, there ain’t enough time to make it to your appointment on time.  We were only a couple of minutes late but it was all my fault.
It was nice to meet Frank and Candy and the 6 of us seemed to converse very freely.  They’re California transplants having moved here from New York.  I never did ask them what compelled them to move here from the Big Apple. Whatever it was, it really didn’t matter, as we had a very nice Breakfast together.
By the time we got home the weather had clouded up and it was threatening rain for the day.  I don’t expect it is going to rain that hard but we do have flood warnings for the day.
This was a day that was just made for watching TV in the “house.”  It was overcast and drizzly for most of the day.  The rain never did come down that hard but it was just a depressing situation.
Sharon made Cheese Ravioli and Meatballs for Supper tonight.  The Raviolis were frozen from home but the Meatballs were brand new.  We also choked down a salad with a Garlic Toast finish.  It was a very nice Dinner and it was excellent in taste.
We camped out in front of the tube for the rest of the night listening to the intermittent rain fall on the roof.  But if you turn up the sound on the TV the sound of the rain is barely audible.  It was silent until we went to bed and then it stopped raining during the night.  I love it when a plan comes together.

Saturday, February 2, 2019GROUNDHOG  DAY

Sharon checked this morning to see if the Groundhog saw his shadow.  Google said that he didn’t so there will be 6 more weeks of Winter.  They said not to worry however, cause Puxatawney Phil is usually wrong.  So we took his prognostication with a grain of salt.
We were going to have rain today according to the Accuweather forecast, so we’re not concerned with the snow in the mountains.  And rain it did.  It was off and on all day today and into the night.  We had flood warnings because the water comes out of the mountains in torrents and then crosses the roads.  Where we’re at we don’t have to worry about that much but it does affect us if we drive to the other side of the valley.
So we just sat around and watched TV for the day.  It wasn’t hard to listen to the rain pitter pattering on the roof of the motorhome.  That was pretty much all we heard today and had to turn the volume up on th TV in order to enjoy the programs.
Later on in the afternoon Sharon made up a batch of Chicken and Dumplings and we had that for Supper.  It was a very good choice and a nice change of pace from our regular menu.
Since the rain is still falling outside we’ll be hovering near the tube for tonight’s entertainment.  The shows are starting to run original programs instead of repeats although today is Saturday and not a good night for TV anyway.  We’ll surf tonight although we did settle on a taped program later on called Project Bluebook.  I remembered Project Bluebook when I was in the service.  It was an Air Force project that was trying to give logical explanations for Aerial Phenomena. (Flying Saucers?) They didn’t do a very good job at it and people thought they were running a giant cover-up.  Even the rank and file in the Air Force didn’t believe their findings.
We watched the 4 hours of Project Bluebook we had recorded before we finally gave it all up for the night.

Sunday, February 3, 2019

Sharon was off to church early today, and after church we (Terry, JoAnne and I) will meet her at the Cottage Too for Breakfast.  Terry and JoAnne called last night and asked if we were interested.
The weather was a little overcast with the Sun poking put on occasion and generally a little cooler today.  The rain is gone for the time being but threatening to come back by the cloudy skies.
When we arrived at the Cottage the place was packed and we had to wait for a table.  In 22 years we’ve never been here on a Sunday before, so we had no idea how busy it would be. We waited about 10 minutes before a table opened up and in that time Sharon made it over from church.  We had our typical Breakfast and it was very good.  They have a very good special of Scrambled Eggs with Ham pieces, Hash Browns and Biscuits and Gravy for $5.49.  It’s plenty of food to eat.  We always leave there satisfied.
I had some holding tanks to dump when we got back home, so I quickly got to that task.  Since we moved the motorhome a couple of days after we arrived, it has been much easier to dump and get the tanks clean.
It’s Super Bowl Sunday today and Sharon wants the Rams to win.  We watched most of the game when it came on.  Unfortunately, Sharon was disappointed in the final score, but I really didn’t care who won.  The Rams were definitely outplayed if you count the total yards gained.  The game was actually quite boring in its entirety.
For the rest of the night we camped out in front of the idiot box just trying to find something to watch.  We surfed for awhile and even watched the Best of the World for awhile.  Our DVR didn’t record the whole show because the Super Bowl coverage ran overtime.  No matter.  We didn’t have much interest in that show anyway.
