We were on the road this morning but apparently not early enough to have Breakfast in Aberdeen.  We were there at about 10:30 and of the two restaurants that we found, one stopped serving Breakfast at 9:30 and the other stopped at 10.  We did, however, know where McDonald’s was and we went there to have Breakfast.  We didn’t mind and besides it was about $10 cheaper than either of the restaurants.   We had never encountered a restaurant that stops serving Breakfast at 10 in the morning.
After Breakfast we debated driving up to Tupelo today but the weather was not conducive to taking pictures.  So we decided to look around and see if we could find any more restaurants.  We found another but it was way out of town in the direction of McDonalds.  It would be just easier to go to McD’s, and cheaper too.
We came back home and decided to take a ride through the campground.  A lot of people left yesterday and we wanted to see how empty the campground looked.  There were quite a few empty spots here and there.
When we got back to the hacienda we decided to track down a leak we’ve been experiencing for the last month.  We had assumed that the water was just rain that had leaked in during rainstorms.  Well the final assumption is that the water is coming from the kitchen faucet.  It’s a slow drip that was running into our outside compartment and getting it wet.  It’s in a spot where it will be impossible to fix at this time, so Sharon fashioned a way to catch the water until we get home.  That’s usually my job but it’s in a spot that I can’t get to unless I tear the cabinet apart.  Something I’ll do when we get home to Michigan.
By the time we found the leak and mitigated it, it was almost time for Supper.  Because we ate a Big Breakfast this morning neither of us was hungry for Supper.  After a while I managed to eat a can of Jambalaya soup and a few pieces of toast.  Sharon had cereal for her Supper.
We camped out in front of the TV for the night to watch our regular fare on the box.  We stayed up until after 10:30 even catching up on one program on the DVR.

We ate Breakfast at home this morning, before we got in the car and headed north to Tupelo. Since we were so close (about 35 miles) and had nothing to do for the day, and it was a nice sunshiny day, we decided to visit Elvis Presley’s hometown and birthplace.  And besides we thought we could find another “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” restaurant to visit.
We arrived in Tupelo and were directed to the Birthplace by signs which promptly got us lost.  So we resorted to the GPS and it took us right to the exact spot.  We were pleasantly surprised to see the site has been built up tremendously since we were last here.  When we were here last time we only had the house to look through.  And the house is quite small so it only took about 15 seconds to see the whole thing.  This time as we drove up, there was the house, a large museum and gift shop and manicured gardens on the outside.  It was quite an impressive site to say the least.
We drove around Tupelo for awhile just to see how big and what was available here.  It was quite a bit bigger than we thought it was.
After the Birthplace we checked with Google to see if there were any restaurants that were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guy Fieri’s show on Food Network.  We found a place that had an honorable mention, so to speak, called the Neon Pig.  On the way to the Pig the GPS took us for a couple mile ride on the Natchez Trace National Parkway.  The “Pig” is unusual in that it’s also a Butcher Shop and sells many other items including souvenirs.  We had a sandwich there called the Smashburger that was very good and voted in the top 10 of all Mississippi’s burgers in a contest a few years ago.  We also split a piece of cheesecake that was so hard we almost couldn’t cut through it with a plastic fork.  But the taste of the cake was worth fighting with the fork to eat it.
After the restaurant we got back on the road heading home.  We were back in about a half hour.
We got settled in front of the Telly.  Neither of us was eating Supper tonight because of the late lunch.
After we got settled we just remained in our positions for the night.  We were content until about 10:30 when we finally gave it up for the night.

We got up this morning with nothing particular to do and nowhere particular to go.  But Sharon, as usual, decided to do a  single load of laundry today.
So when she left for the laundry room I got busy on my Newsletter again.  I only had a couple of stories to work on and get them ready for the letter.
When Sharon got to the laundry she realized that she had miscalculated the cost of getting the laundry taken care of and didn’t have enough money.  So she had to go up to the gate and try to get quarters to finish up.  She managed to get it all done but it took a little longer.
I decided that since they turn off the restaurants so early here that I’d cook my self a big Breakfast.  Bacon, Eggs and Hash Browns and a couple of pieces of Toast later and I was well sated for the day.  Sometimes it always seems easier to cook it myself than to actually go out for it.
I worked on the Newsletter and played Freecell while watching TV for most of the afternoon today.  I didn’t finish the Newsletter today so I think that I was mostly playing Freecell and watching TV.
We had some leftover Rigatoni and Meatballs for Supper tonight.  We had them a few days ago but they were still very good tonight.
The rest of the night was devoted to the TV.  Except for Sharon’s participation which was mostly for her jigsaw puzzle that she started this afternoon.  She’s very persistent and she’ll stick with it until it’s finished. But it didn’t get finished tonight by the time we gave it up and went to bed.

We woke up this morning with the campground semi-flooded.  The lake did not overflow its banks but the amount of water that remained, and still coming down, was tremendous.  The roads and campsite pads were under water with no relief in sight.  Later on, as the day progressed, the rain let up some and started to recede.
With the rain just sprinkling we took off for town to do some grocery shopping and to mail some postcards.  We needed the GPS to actually find the Post Office even though it was on the Main Street.  It’s just a plain brick building with no visible markings on it.  The flag that’s always present at these buildings was covered up by trees.  The only Indication that it was a Post Office was an exterior mailbox with a driveway going past it.  We found it though, no matter how hard they tried to hide it.
After the Post Office we drove over to the Piggly Wiggly to do some grocery shopping.  It’s kind of a small store and it really didn’t have all the stuff we needed so we thought we’d go to the Giant store tomorrow.  Besides we didn’t find anywhere that’s serving a fish fry on Fridays and it looks like the Giant sells cooked fish.
After we got home today I finished up the Newsletter with a couple of stories left over.  So it looks like I’ve got a headstart on next month’s letter, which I rarely have.  I’ll wait a couple of days before I send it out though.  I don’t want people to start expecting it before the end of the month, because I can’t always produce it by then.
With the weather the way it was today, Sharon made Chili for Supper tonight.  We also had Red Lobster Garlic and Butter Biscuits to go along with the Chili.  Man, those biscuits are really good with anything.
We reserved our positions in front of the TV for the night but Sharon’s also included a table with a jigsaw puzzle on it.  She never was that good just watching TV.  But she usually just sits quietly with her puzzle, when she has one.  She usually acquires a bunch of puzzles from God only know where.  And if she’not doing Soduko she’s doing puzzles.
We stayed up til about 10:45 tonight before the programs were over.

Friday, March 30, 2018

We woke up this morning and the campground was relatively dry.  Everything that fell out of the sky the other night was almost gone today.  The temperature is in the 40's almost every morning now, before it warms up to the 70's during the day.  This has really not been a nice winter so far.  We’ve experienced cold weather wherever we go this year.  We haven’t been anywhere near a pool this year except to drive by in the car.
We left our site this afternoon to drive out to the Lock and Dam to take pictures. It was finally sunny for a change since most of the days are either cloudy or overcast.   When that’ll happen again is anybody’s guess.   We got our pictures just fine and then continued on to the Post Office where Sharon had to pick up a “resume mail” card to fill out.
Since it was Friday today we looked for a place to have a fish fry but were unsuccessful to say the least.  So we did the next best thing.  We stopped at the Giant grocery store and picked up some freshly Fried Catfish and Hush Puppies for Supper.  Sharon wanted to make her own French Fries to go with them.  It all turned out very good for an ad lib Dinner.
We had a good day today because the Sun was out all day.  It didn’t warm up a whole lot but it was a nice day for the end of March.  Our site here is mostly in the shade so it’s tough to get the Sun to warm it up.
After Dinner tonight Sharon finished up her jigsaw puzzle and decided that it would be awhile before she did another one.  She’ll do another one when she gets bored again.  And who knows when that’ll happen.
We settled in for TV tonight in our usual spots and stayed up until 10:30 tonight before the lights automatically went out on their own.

Saturday, March 31, 2018

We got up this morning to a lovely day.  The Sun was shining and it looked like it was going to be a beautiful day.  We didn’t have anything to do or anywhere to go today so it looks like it’ll just be a relaxing day.  I’m getting to like these days more and more now when we have nowhere to go and not have to be somewhere.
Sharon was on her diet today but she made me Egg McMuffins for my Breakfast anyway.  Sometimes she surprises me when I don’t feel like cooking myself a big Breakfast.  The Egg McMuffins were fabulous.
We’ve developed a leak under our kitchen sink but it’s in a place where I can’t fix it on the road while we’re living in the motorhome.  We’ve got a container under the sink to catch the drips that has to be emptied at least twice a day or it runs over.  As long as we remember to dump the container we’ll be okay until we get home.  The leak seems to be coming from up under the counter in the faucet feeder ends.  It should be easy to fix once I get home but I don’t want to be monkeying with $150 faucet without a replacement.  If it was earlier in the year, like November, I’d chance it, but not now.  So instead we’ll just keep dumping the container.
I had a bowl of cereal for Supper and Sharon had a Salad tonight.  I had 3 Chili Dogs for lunch today and I didn’t feel much like eating anything tonight.  The bowl of cereal went down perfectly and I was happy for my choice.
We checked out our video choices for the night and they didn’t seem too promising.  After all, it was a Saturday night and pretty slim pickens were on tonight.
We actually watched the Iron Chef Gauntlet for about 4 hours tonight and really enjoyed it.  We taped the final show in the series and saved it for tomorrow.  The show where the Chef either wins or loses the opportunity to become an Iron Chef.

Sunday, April 1, 2018APRIL FOOL’S DAY

There was no fooling around this morning as I failed to wake Sharon up in time to get to church today but I think she just shortened her prep time in order to still make it.  She was out of here in plenty of time to make it and I was off to my Sunday morning political shows.
I was anticipating what would happen today on April Fool’s Day but actually nothing really earthshaking happened today.  I was disappointed in the Liberals ability to make mountains out of molehills, and it usually doesn’t take much for them to do exactly that.
Sharon got home from church and promptly ate her Breakfast but it wasn’t long before she started on our Dinner for tonight.  We would be eating a slab of Ham that she got from her sister at Christmas time.  It’s been frozen since that time and we’ll be thawing it out to have for an Easter Dinner.  She’s also making Sweet Potatoes, Cranberry Gel, Cole Slaw and Apple Crescents for Dessert.  Everything turned out very good and the Dinner turned out to be a lovely occasion.
My job through all this was to just stay out of the way and watch TV.  I seem to excel at that so I always do my job very well.
After Dinner tonight we settled in to our usual positions in front of the TV and just digested our food.  We both must have had enough to eat because neither of us had a snack tonight even though we had leftover Apple Crescent Desserts.
We had our usual Sunday shows on TV tonight and nothing, including March Madness, was interfering with their scheduled times.  We hung in there until 10:30 tonight before heading for the feathers.
