We were off this morning to Hot Rod’s Diner in Orange Beach for Breakfast with Les and Diane.  There was an unusual situation when we arrived at Hot Rod’s.  You can only get into the restaurant from one way because of the way the road is marked.  It took us a few minutes to figure it out, but we finally got in.  Hot Rod’s was offering us $8 off the second entree’ when you buy the first.  I had a Spanish omelette that was one of the best I’ve ever had.  In fact I couldn’t remember when I’ve had a better one.
On the way home we stopped at Al’s 5 & 10 on the beach so the girls could do some shopping.  Not needing a single thing I sat in the truck and listened to Rush on the radio while they were gone.  Sharon said it was quite the unique store.  I figured that out when I saw the Giant inflatable Flamingo outside the entry door.  They were only in the store for about 20 minutes before they came out and we headed back home again.
Before they dropped us off I offered to take Les out for Breakfast tomorrow to Waffle House to settle a bet we had the other day.  We bet that there was a Waffle House near the American Legion of Gulf Shores.  I could’ve sworn there was one in the near vicinity.  I was wrong and now I owe him a Breakfast.
After we got home we started doing a little re-arranging in our compartments that were wet the other day.  I can’t detect a leak so they must be wet from the humidity that we get in the morning.  The whole coach is wet by the time morning arrives every day.  We also put my scooter in the car still unfixed. Jack worked on it the other day and couldn’t figure out the problem with it.  Although he did tell me that the polarity had been reversed on one of the three batteries.
No more Olympics on today so we’re back to watching regular TV again.  That’s really not all that bad since I was starting to miss my regular programming.  And besides there seems to be some new programming coming on that seems to be better than what was there before.
I stayed up until 10:30 tonight watching a special on North Korea that was very interesting.  It seemed to say that living in North Korea is not as bad as its cracked up to be.  You never know who you can believe anymore.

We woke to another sunshiny day today and Sharon as usual took off on her walk before it started to warm up.  But now the mornings are warm anyway.  They’re just a few degrees cooler the earlier she goes.
I picked up Les this morning and we were off to Waffle House to settle the wager we had the other day.  I bet him that there was a Waffle House somewhere around the American Legion building and when we drove by, there was nothing there.  I remember going to 2 different Waffle Houses when we were here 4 years ago, but I don’t remember driving up past Foley for the second one.  Actually it really didn’t matter if there was one there or not, since we got another reason to take in another Breakfast.  Les and I are kindred spirits when it comes to eating Breakfast out.  We’ll go anywhere anytime.  Hence the trip to Waffle House this morning was on the agenda since we came back from Fairhope the other day.  I had to hurry and pay the debt cause we leave here on Thursday and I didn’t to be accused of welching on the bet.  We had a lovely Breakfast this morning even though the waitress dropped my Bacon on the floor on the way to the table.  She replaced it and even gave me an extra piece.  Yumm.
We were supposed to see Sharon walking on the way to Waffle House but I didn’t see her at all.  She explained when I got home that she ended up behind a car when we went by on the road.  She waved but we didn’t see her.
On the way home I stopped by Les’s to get his email address and see the pencil sketch that one of his friends made of their dog, since deceased.  The sketch was very realistic and well done.
I left and came home and Sharon was ready to take off with the laundry.  I got busy fixing a couple of things that we picked up parts for the other day at the hardware store.  I put a door stop on the bathroom door and wheels on our clothes hamper.
After my chores were done I settled in for some afternoon TV while Sharon whipped up a Meatloaf for Supper.  She fried some potatoes and heated up some shoepeg corn.  I finished it off with a small cup of apple sauce.
After Dinner we assumed our positions for the regular season resumption of TV.  Now that the Olympics are over, regular programming is back on at least for the next month or so.  I was up until at least 10:30 tonight.

We’ve had a bunch of sunshiny days now in a row and this looked like it was going to be another one.
Sharon, of course, was off on her walk for the day.  When she got back today she told me she brought me a surprise.  I had no idea what the surprise was.  She went back into the bedroom and came out with a Gulf Shores Fire Department T-Shirt.
We’ve been looking for a Gulf Shores T-Shirt and finally gave up when we couldn’t find what I wanted.  But this was a great surprise knowing I’ve gotten other Fire Department T-Shirts in the past.  She could see the pleasure on my face when she handed it to me.  I was tickled pink.
Sharon got bit again on her walk which meant more benedryl and a little nap this afternoon.  She had intended to go and finish up our laundry today but now it looks like it won’t happen.
I let her sleep for about an hour before I went outside to clean the wiring connections on the car and the back of the motorhome since being here with all the humidity they may not work tomorrow.  After that I picked up all of our tables, chairs and the big mat and put them all away. I’ll disconnect our utilities tomorrow morning when we get ready to leave.  Other than that, we’re ready to move on.
When Sharon got up from her nap she actually decided to do the laundry anyway.  She only needed to do the dark clothes cause she did the whites the other day.  She finished that up in about an hour and a half.  Just in time to go out for our planned Dinner.
Les and Diane picked us up at 4 and we drove to the Acme Oyster House on east 24th street.  This would be our last meal with them for this year, and it was a beauty.  Sharon had a soft shell Crab and I had a Crab Cake Dinner.  Diane had Crawfish Etoufee’ and Les had Fried Shrimp.
After Dinner we came home and said our good-byes and came inside to watch some TV before bedtime.  We mostly had programs on tape tonight, but of course, that prevents us from having to watch commercials.  It still didn’t keep me up past my regular retirement time tonight.

Thursday, March 1, 2018

We got a leisurely start this morning since we were only going a handful of miles up to Robertsdale, Alabama and the Styx River Resort.  We left Gulf Shores about 10:30 with a toot to Les and Diane when we went past their site.
We had intended to stop in Foley at Cracker Barrel Restaurant to have Breakfast on our way.  We no sooner got our food and Les and Diane came in to surprise us.  Sharon had spotted a truck that looked like theirs, but how many white trucks are in this world.  They said they stopped because they were in the area.  They were actually in the area because they drove up here.  It was just nice to see them again.
After Breakfast we headed north again and it took us about a half hour to get to our campground.  We got settled in quickly and it took a while to get our satellite dome up and running.  I had to reset the receiver to get it to seek the satellite.  I was upset until I finally heard it moving on the roof.
It was warm today, and for the rest of the afternoon I was so glad to have TV I just settled in and watched it with the air conditioning running.  Sharon took a walk over to the clubhouse while I enjoyed my afternoon in front of the TV.
There was no Supper tonight except for a Meatloaf sandwich about 7 o’clock and Sharon had her usual bowl of cereal.
We finished out the night with our usual TV watching until it was time to head to the padded room.

Friday, March 2, 2018

We woke up this morning and all the glass inside the motorhome was covered with moisture.  Windshield, windows and mirrors were all wet.  It was also a little chilly this morning and as soon as we started the furnace the moisture went away.
Today was going to be a shopping day for Sharon.  She was looking for a dress for our daughters wedding. When we got into the car we headed toward Spanish Fort which has a giant shopping center called Eastern Shore.  My job was to sit in the car listening to Rush and wait for her until it was time for lunch.  She didn’t find a dress but I did my job very well.  In fact when she left the phone with me, I found a place called David’s Catfish House to have lunch.  It was only a mile away and we had directions from the GPS in the phone.
When we arrived at David’s we noticed that the parking lot was full.  There was another business adjacent to the restaurant so we didn’t know how many were in the restaurant.  When we got inside we realized that most of the cars were obviously for David’s.
David’s is a quaint restaurant with cement floor, bare wooden tables and folding metal chairs. Like some of the places that we’ve gotten great food before.  The 30 some tables were all full and we knew we had chosen the right place to eat today.
We ordered the Catfish Dinner and waited for our beverages.  When the waitress brought the Iced Tea to the table she juggled and then dropped a full mug of tea on the table in front of me.  But I was too fast for her jumping out of the way.  Sharon said she’d never seen me move that fast before.  I hadn’t EVER moved that fast before.
We had a lovely lunch of Catfish, French Fries, Cole Slaw and Hush Puppies.  All of them were excellent.
We left Spanish Fort and headed to Robertsdale where the Camping World was located.  I had to pick up a couple of things not realizing how far it was from our campground.  But we stopped anyway and I picked up what I needed and we headed back out again.
We saw a Produce place on the way to Camping World and stopped there on the way back to the campground.  Sharon picked up a couple of things there before we moved on.
Another late lunch today so there won’t be any Supper tonight.  That doesn’t mean there won’t be snacks, however.  Especially when you get a little hungry after watching hours of TV.  Actually we watched tonight without any snacks to hold us over even though Sharon made a Banana Bread tonight.  We both made it to bed without any extra calories.

Saturday, March 3, 2018

We awoke to a very nice sunshiny day today, but a little cooler by a couple degrees.  Not cold enough for a jacket, but chilly enough to turn on the heat pump.
We had nothing planned for today except to sit around and rest up for next week, when we move down to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.  Sharon had a bad night last night so she was taking a nap for most of the afternoon.
I just quietly sat and watched TV for most of the afternoon until I had given her enough time for a nap and then I  went outside and hooked up the rest of our utilities, water and sewer.  I also dumped the Gray water from the last two days.  We have enough room for about 5 days of Gray water so dumping it often is really a must.
Later on this afternoon, when Sharon got up from her nap, she announced that we would be having Bratwurst for Supper tonight, along with Fried Potatoes and Banana Bread for dessert.  That sounded good to me, and it was.
For the rest of the night we just sat and watched a movie that I had recorded this afternoon.  It was a repeat of the movie called “Salt.”  It was a rather good movie and it took me right up to my bedtime.

Sunday, March 4, 2018

It was another sunshiny morning today and we’ve already had more of them than we had 4 years ago.  But maybe we’ve been here longer this year than we were then.
Sharon was off to church this morning and I was off to my Sunday morning political shows.  When I tuned in to George Stephanopoulos he mentioned 5 Trump bashing stories right off the bat.  I deleted his show immediately.  I don’t need to listen to an hour of that when I know already what they’re going to say.
I turned my attention to FoxNews on Sunday and while I watched that I cooked up a big Breakfast for myself.  I fired up the stove and commenced to making myself Bacon, Eggs, Hash Browns and Toast.  It turned out to be very good and a nice start for the day.
Sharon got home from church after noon having stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few items.
We watched the NASCAR race from Las Vegas most of the afternoon and witnessed Kevin Harvick winning his second race in a row by a wide margin.  It was almost as if he was the only one in the race he was running so good.
After the race, Sharon surprised me with Steaks for Super tonight.  It’s one of her favorite meals, but not mine.  I have to bite the bullet on occasion and have one of the meals she likes.  She cooks meals that I like so often sometimes I forget that she should have what she wants on occasion.  We had Steak, Baked Potato and a Salad and it was quite good.
She also had another surprise for me tonight.  She wanted to watch the Oscars and I haven’t seen them in years.  They’ve become way too political and not in a good way.  But tonight I didn’t notice that it was as bad as it had been in previous years.  You can bet real money that they were TOLD to hold it down on the Trump bashing.  There were still people making political statements but they were masked so they weren’t so obvious.
I stayed up until it was over and it ran at least 45 minutes overtime.  The Liberals need extra time to pat themselves on the back.
