Sharon changed the fridge over to electric this morning and it seemed to keep working.
We were off this morning for our first Breakfast in a long time. Actually we did go out just before we left Arcadia but it had been a long dry spell before that. We were off to Hazel’s Nook for their buffet Breakfast. The last time we were here 4 years ago it was one of our favorite places to eat Breakfast. The food is excellent and the service is very friendly. And we got our first taste of Cheesy grits. Yumm.
We treated Les and Diane to Breakfast this morning since their Breakfast was cheaper than the service call we would have had to pay for the fridge. And of course we didn’t have to waste a day for the service guy to show up. They also announced that after Breakfast they would be “flying today.” They were referring to Les flying remote controlled airplanes up at the field in Foley. We were intrigued and followed Les up to Foley to watch them for awhile.
Before we left I needed to write my Journal and publish it. It was Monday and I always try to publish on Monday.
Afterward we followed Les up to Foley and there were a half dozen guys up there with their RC airplanes. I’m forever amazed by the RC Cars, Boats and airplanes. And the skills people possess in order to drive them. We stayed for about and hour or so before we left to come home. It was fun to just sit and watch.
McDonald’s was just around the corner so we stopped and picked up a Strawberry Shake and a Hot Fudge Sundae to eat on the way home. We managed to finish them up just as we got home.
I finally got the logo onto the newsletter this afternoon and got it sent out. I had trouble with the email program again and it took me awhile to get it sent.
Sharon got busy when we got home to make BBQued Pork Sandwiches from the Country Ribs we had the other night. She simmered them for awhile which tenderized the pork somewhat. The sandwiches were great along with Fried Potatoes and a mixed salad.
We settled in for evening TV tonight even though there wasn’t much good on. We had backup on the DVR so I wasn’t much worried about being able to last until bedtime.

It was overcast and rainy this morning when we got up. It wasn’t going to deter our plans today, however. We had planned to go out for lunch today. We were going to the Sassy Bass Restaurant on Ft. Morgan road. Sassy Bass is a “seafood” place almost on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a quaint little place with a tropical island motif on the inside.
Les and Diane picked us up at 11 and we were off to the restaurant. Jim and Penny, friends of Les and Diane, followed us in their truck. We sat down to a very nice lunch. I had the most tender Crab Cakes I’ve ever eaten. Everyone else seemed to enjoy whatever they ordered also. The service was thorough and very good and friendly. I had to take half of my lunch home for another day.
On the way home we stopped at the beach at Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge and saw a million dollar home. It was a mobile home and a real peach but it was almost on the beach. Something tells me that if it’s on the beach you can sell anything for a million dollars. Actually you need to get someone to buy it for that price in order for it to be worth that much.
After we got back home Les and Diane stopped over for Les to have a look at my scooter. It seems like the batteries are going dead prematurely even though they’re new. He checked it over and really couldn’t find anything wrong except that maybe those new batteries need to be cycled. He could certainly be right and I’ll do that over the next couple of days.
We arrived back home full of lunch and just sat and watched TV for the afternoon. Actually I watched TV while Sharon got busy on her jigsaw puzzle. Neither of us was hungry for Supper when that rolled around. Later I made myself a PB&J sandwich and was satisfied with that.
Tonight was our favorite night of the week for TV so we happily settled in front of the tube for the night. Sharon had her puzzle for back-up but I just watched TV. We actually had too much to watch tonight so the remainder was saved on the DVR. We lasted until just after 10 tonight before we called it a day.

We awoke this morning to one of our favorite Breakfasts. Sharon was making homemade Egg McMuffins for us. She surprised me them this time. She usually announces when she’s going to make them and I never turn her down. That’s the least I can do, and I always do the least I can do.
Shortly after Breakfast we were greeted with a thunderstorm that dumped a ton of water on us. We even experienced rain fade with the dome which doesn’t happen that often. So at one point it was really coming down.
We decided early that because there didn’t seem to be any break in the weather today we’d go to the theater for a couple of hours and catch a movie. I checked the listing and there was two movies on that we could see. “Twelve Strong” and “Hostiles” were the two that interested me. I think Sharon was more interested in the popcorn and soda. And both shows had an early matinee this afternoon. We went to see Twelve Strong and it was exciting to say the least. It was about the Green Beret Team that went to Afghanistan a month after 9/11 and took the fight to the jihadists. Sharon mentioned what an excellent movie it was.
After the movie we thought about going out for Dinner but it was still a little early. As soon as we got home Sharon got a notification on the phone that Les and Diane were attending the following presentation of the movie we had just seen. We laughed when we saw her post on Facebook.
At Dinnertime I sat down to my leftover Crab Dinner that I had taken home from the Sassy Bass the other day. Sharon made herself a “Big” Salad. It always amazes me that she can eat that much salad in one sitting. She does get tired of chewing when she eats it though.
We settled in for our usual entertainment for the night in front of the idiot box. We actually didn’t have enough to watch but surfed the channels to fill up our time before we hit the hay.

The exerciser was off on her walk early this morning. When she got back she could hardly climb the steps to get back im the motorhome. I offered to go outside and give her a good push up but she was having no part of that.
After she got ready we took off for the grocery store to pick up a few items for the weekend. Luckily I found an electric cart as soon as I walked through the door. It held out for about 3/4 of the way through the store and then started beeping. I managed to get it back to the entrance before it gave out.
I went out to the car to wait for Sharon to get done and she was out in about 10 minutes. On the way home we stopped at the public boat launch that was on the Little Lagoon, which is near our campground. Sharon wanted to see what the beach was like there. There really isn’t a beach, but the boat launch is very nice with bathrooms and a cement ramp for launching. I don’t know if the Lagoon actually opens into the Gulf or not.
After we got back I took off on my scooter to see how far it would go before it died. I’ve been having trouble with the batteries going dead prematurely. I made it about a mile down the road with a full charge in the batteries. It’s supposed to go about 15 miles which is a far cry from what I got out of them. I called Sharon on the phone and she came and picked me and the scooter up. After I got back home I plugged it in again and charged it up. I’m hoping that I can get Les to look at it again and see if he can find the problem.
Sharon whipped up “Pigs in a Blanket” for Supper tonight. We also had Kraft Macaroni and Cheese to go along with it. It’s one of my favorite meals to have on the spur of the moment. It’s a kids meal but I don’t care, I like it anyway.
After Dinner we settled in front of the tube for the night. Tonight was special because the Olympics were starting tonight. Opening Ceremonies are tomorrow but they had Team Figure Skating and Mogul Skiing were started tonight. We watched a couple of hours of that tonight ahead of the Opening Ceremonies. It got over before my bedtime so it didn’t impose on me one bit.

Another day when the sun poked out after a while. Sharon picked up the Dirty clothes and took them over to the Laundromat.
While she was gone I got out the printer and printed up the Newsletter. I had sent it out the other day to the people who get email and I got the chance to finish it up today for the people I mail it out to.
By the time Sharon got back I still wasn’t finished with what I was doing. I had a mess all over the table and the booth, but it didn’t take me long to clean it all up.
After I got everything put away I went to work on our ”Master Map.” Our Master Map is a Rand McNally that we’ve been using since I retired to mark all the roads across the USA that we’ve traveled. The only States that are still blank are Alaska and Hawaii. We may mark them off in the future but we have no plans for it as of now.
Sharon cooked up a batch of Chicken and Rice for Supper tonight. She also had a bowl of peas to go with it. The rice she mixes with cream of celery soup and it gives the rice the consistency of mashed potatoes. It’s really quite good.
After Dinner we settled in front of the tube for the night. After a couple of reruns
the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics was on. We watched the opening for about 3 hours and unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. There were sections of the show that were quite nice but this didn’t compare with the Beijing show a few years ago. It took us right up to the time we wanted to go to bed so that’s how we finished out the night.

We were greeted with a sky full of rain today even though it had been raining before we got up. And it was apparently going to rain all day also.
With water falling from the skies we sat and watched our usual Vet Shows in the morning and also caught a couple of Locked Up’s also since we weren’t going anywhere at least for this morning.
Later on, we caught some of the Olympic coverage at 2PM until about 4. There was mostly Team Figure Skating, Snowboarding and Short Track Speed Skating. The were only preliminary events and they will be finishing up the sports later on in the week.
We were glued to the set until 4 PM when Les and Diane picked us up to go out to eat. We had planned to go to the Oyster House but they changed their mind at the last minute. We ended up at the Gulf Shores Diner where we met up with the Chef Steve from the American Legion. Steve was working at the Legion when we were here last time. Near the end of the season he invited all the folks that were regulars at the Legion to a party at his house on the weekend. It was a fabulous affair with Prime Rib, Crab Legs and Shrimp. He was the perfect host and it was all free. And before he went back to the kitchen he invited us to the new party on February 25th. Steve bought the Diner a couple of years ago and it seems to fit him just fine.
The food at the Diner was very good and we were more than happy with the service. Incidentally the waitress was from Wasau, Wisconsin, the same place that Les and Diane live.
After we left the Diner it stopped raining just long enough for us to get in the truck and drive to the campground. When we got out of the truck at home it had already started sprinkling again. It continued for most of the night and we even had a couple of episodes of rain fade with the TV dish.
We watched Olympics for the rest of the night. We even saw the US’s first Gold Medal for the games. It was a seventeen Year old from Colorado that earned it in Snowboard Slopestyle. The games were over just in time to go to bed for the night.

We awoke again this morning to an all-night rain. I don’t know where all the rain is going but it’s not on the ground making puddles. We really can’t do anything during these storms except go out and eat.
Sharon was off to church this morning and I was off to my morning political shows. I can’t find Meet The Press anymore but I don’t miss the half dozen liberals since I still watch This Week with George Stephanopoulus. And I also watch the liberals that they manage to dig up for FoxNews Sunday. They all tell the same lies anyway.
I made myself a Big Breakfast this morning while Sharon was gone because she doesn’t usually eat it with me anyway. I had pancakes and sausage and it was quite good. As soon as I was done eating I cleaned up the kitchen and did all the dishes. I had threatened to make myself pancakes and sausage for a couple of weeks but I just couldn’t get myself up to it. Well, today I finally did.
Sharon got back from church and the rain hadn’t let up a single bit. She stopped and did a little grocery shopping on her way home this morning. We only needed a couple of things so it didn’t take her long.
By the time she got back it was time for the Olympics and we sat down and gaped at the tube. We watched our first Gold Medal performance by Red Gerard of Colorado. Exciting! We were optimistic until we got to the Team Figure Skating. Adam Rippon skated a perfect program and got beat by a guy who fell out of three jumps and scored 7 points higher. I guess the Gymnastics and Figure Skating will never be scored fairly for the U.S. I get tired of watching the same thing happen year after year by those crooked judges.
I guess it’s the type of thing that will never change in this day and age. We watched the games anyway until it was time for bed.
