Today was a day with nothing to do or anyplace to go.  I knew right away that I was going to get a promised haircut today.  It was only promised for a couple of days but it was definitely going to happen.
Sharon went on her walk this morning and the wind was blowing about 20-25 miles an hour.  By the time she got back she reported she lost her visor just outside the gate and had to chase it down the road.  She managed to track it down and retrieve it but she complained about the wind when she got back.
Just as promised I got my haircut this morning without too much muss and fuss.  By the time she was finished with me it was almost lunchtime.
We had lunch, Sharon had a quick nap and then we were off to the pool for the rest of the afternoon.  For the life of me I can’t understand why the pool is full one day and almost empty the next.  This was looking like it was going to be one of the ‘empty’ days.  We stayed and floated until our usual time, 4PM, and then came back home so Sharon would have enough time to prepare Supper.  Tonight we were going to finish up the Bratwurst, Veggies and Sauerkraut she made last night.  It was still good even though it was leftovers.
We had to suffer through a lousy night for TV tonight.  Usually Mondays are pretty good for TV but for some reason tonight was a complete failure.  We had enough stuff on tape to make until 10:30 tonight even though the little lady called it quits around 9:30.  I, however, stuck it out until the last dog was hung.

Sharon was off on her walk this morning without the wind.  It had died down for today’s walk and while she was gone I just sat and typed my Journal.
We ate our Breakfast this morning remembering that we were going to the Emperor Buffet for lunch.  The Emperor is twice as far as the restaurant we regularly go to for Chinese food.
About 12:30 Phil and Joyce walked over and we left for the restaurant.  Not realizing it would take us almost the entire half hour we allotted for the trip over.  We were to meet Roy and Maryann Parent at the restaurant, and they we seated by the cashier’s desk when we got there.  We got there exactly at 1 so they must have been a few minutes early.
The food at the Emperor was very good and I have no complaints with that.  But I don’t think that its ‘so good’ that its worth driving the extra miles to get there.  I didn’t notice any difference in the quality of the food to be honest.  But frequenting another good restaurant is never a problem and a nice backup in the event the Hibachi City Grill falls flat for some reason.
We had to make a stop at Wal-Mart on the way home to pick up Coke for the next week.  Wal-Mart generally has the best price for Coke so we usually try to get it from there.  We had to go a little bit out of the way today, but Phil and Joyce didn’t seem to mind so that was good.  Sharon picked up about 6 2-liter bottles while we waited in the car.  We watched as the ambulance arrived to pick up a patient inside Wal-Mart.  The Fire Truck was already there when they called for the ambulance.
When we got back home we were greeted by Arlene and Henry who were freshly back from their trip to Venice Beach/Catalina Island.  We were intending to go to the pool when we got back, but we skipped it, and sat down with Henry and Arlene for the next several hours.  We were anxious to hear about their trip.  So the beer flowed, and the stories were told, and we twittered away the time until darkness fell.  THUMP! Before they left, we made plans for Taco Wednesday tomorrow.
Tonight was a bonanza for watching TV but we ‘missed’ it all.  We really didn’t miss it all because our DVR was running overtime.  By the time Henry and Arlene left we still had time to catch a few shows before the bewitching hour.  All the shows were good ones tonight.

The first thing on Sharon’s mind was her walk around the stop sign up at the corner.  When she got back we took a jaunt around the Lower Campground to check on the patio sales in the park.  She found a plastic canvas Christmas project.
It’s Taco Wednesday today and we’ll be going to the VFW for lunch today.  Phil and Joyce will be picking us up at noon and we’ll meet Henry and Arlene over at the Clubhouse.  By the time we got there the parking lot was overflowing with cars and the clubhouse was just as crowded.  Henry and Arlene had arrived first and secured a place to sit for the 6 of us.  We had lunch and plenty of beer before we headed for home.  We were almost the last ones in the place by the time we left.
We went immediately to the pool after we got back home.  There were very few people in the pool.  Roy and Maryann Parent were in there almost by themselves.  It was very unusual because they usually show up later after Roy’s nap.  Today he told us that he took an early nap.  By the time 4 o’clock rolled around, there were still only about the same number of people in the pool that were there all afternoon.
We came back home and fended for ourselves for Supper tonight.  Sharon didn’t feel like cooking and I didn’t care.  I had a couple of Cheddarwurst for my meal and she had a Toasted Ham and Egg Sandwich for herself.  We were both satisfied with our choices.
Another night of TV watching was on the menu for tonight.  We had a ton of stuff recorded from last night when Henry and Arlene were over.  And we had the regular stuff from tonight to watch also.  We stayed up until 11 tonight trying to get everything watched but we actually didn’t make it.  We still have a couple of shows that need to be watched.

We were up this morning on our way to Cathedral City with Arlene and Henry to have Breakfast at the Sunshine Café with Terry and JoAnn Bertamini.  When we arrived, the Bertamini’s were already there waiting for a table for us.  We were seated almost immediately after we arrived, in a crowded restaurant. In the back room, was a 20 man swat team that had been doing exercises this morning.  We saw them as they left on their way to the exit.
After Breakfast we made our way back across the valley and to home.  The Sunshine Café is about 12-13 miles from our campground.  It takes about 20 minutes to get over there from here.
After we got back we sat around for a couple of hours before we went to the pool for the afternoon.  The pool was crowded today to say the least.  But by the time we left this afternoon at 4 it was relatively empty.  I have no idea what determines if people are going to the pool or not.  But one day its crowded and the next day its not.
Sharon came home and whipped up a Bolognese Sauce for Spaghetti tonight.  It was very tasty and unlike a regular spaghetti sauce.  While we were doing dishes tonight they shut off the water in the park because of a water leak.  We only had a minimal amount of water in our tank but we needed to use that until the leak is fixed.  Unfortunately I took a shower and our water was gurgling.  We’d be on minimal usage at least for tonight.
We had planned on going to the Upper Clubhouse for Card Bingo tonight, and Phil and Joyce picked us up in time to get up there and get ready.  We had some luck tonight as Phil, Joyce and I each won a game.  Sharon and I also won last week, so we’re still playing on other people’s money.  As a matter of fact we playing on other people’s money from last year, having come out winners from then.
We got back home tonight and the Republican Debate had been on TV.  We taped it and got to watch the whole thing.  We also had a ll of our regular shows taped tonight so we just watched enough to get us to 10:30

We were off to the Cottage 2 today with Phil and Joyce after they picked us up this morning and we would meet Henry and Arlene there.  This will be Phil and Joyce’s last Breakfast until they return in March.  Unfortunately the weather is now starting to get milder and warmer just when they’re slated to leave tomorrow for home.
After Breakfast we stopped at the Mexican Market so Phil could pick up some bananas and dates.  It was a quick stop and then we were on our way again.
Sharon needed to stop at the Post Office for stamps so that would be our next quick stop.
We got home and had to wait a couple of hours before we went to the pool for the afternoon.  When we got there it was another afternoon that it was crowded with people.  We managed to snake our way through the crowd to the end of the pool where our friends were.  We stayed until about 4 when we came home.
We had invited Phil and Joyce over for a Bon Voyage adult beverage when they got all their stuff picked up to get a clean exit tomorrow morning.  They stayed for about an hour or so until it started getting cold outside when the sun went down.  We picked up all our snacks and stuff that we had brought out for the visit.  By now it was getting dark and cold outside.
Our evening’s entertainment was all mapped out for us.  We had plenty to watch that had been recorded over the past two days.  We’ll never get it all in before we get to the bewitching hour tonight.  We called it quits at 10:30 tonight when Sharon made her move toward the bedroom.

Saturday, January 30, 2016

We were off to our regular Saturday morning Buffet at Two Springs Resort having picked up Henry and Arlene.  This will be our third day in a row to go out for Breakfast which is completely unusual.  We’ll meet Terry and JoAnn Bertamini there along with their friend from Vancouver, British Columbia, who we met a couple of years ago when we picked him up from the airport.
We sat down to a wonderful buffet and it was actually warm in the room for the first time this year.  We all certainly had enough to eat before we left for home.
On the way home we attempted to drive onto the desert to get a picture of the new wind turbines for the newsletter this month.  The road out there was atrocious and loaded with big rocks all over the middle of the makeshift road.  It was like an obstacle course to get through.  We did manage, however, to get to a decent place for a representative picture.
After we got home this morning, the wind made an appearance this morning.  It pretty much blew like crazy all day today.  It was blowing so hard this afternoon that we opted out of going to the pool.  We figured the pool would have whitecaps on the waves.
We sat in the camper for the afternoon until we sat down for Dinner tonight.  We would be having the leftover Spaghetti with Bolognese sauce.  Tonight Sharon baked up a bunch of Crescent Rolls with garlic and butter on them to enhance the experience.  There was no salad to choke down tonight.
For the rest of the night we sat and did our own thing.  I watched TV until 10:30 and Sharon had a plastic canvas project to do that she picked up on Wednesday at the on-site patio sales.
The wind was still blowing ferociously tonight as we went to bed.  It was so strong that the coach was rocking regularly.

We had a busy day all plotted out for us today.  We had planned last week that we were going to Pioneertown today with Henry and Arlene.  The weatherman had different plans than we did however.  He was planning for some rain today and we were hoping that he was going to be wrong.
Sharon was off to church this morning while I was off to the TV for my Sunday morning shows.  They were being dominated this morning by election expectations for all the candidates.
We were ready to go at 11 and Henry and Arlene showed up right on time.  It was sprinkling a little when we left but we were still hoping that it would clear up by the time we got there so we could walk around after arriving.
Unfortunately after the short drive up there the weather didn’t co-operate at all.  It was raining harder so we stopped at Pappy and Harriet’s Restaurant to have lunch.  We were planning to stop there anyway so it didn’t sabotage any of our plans.  We thought there might be a possibility of waiting out the rain anyway.
Pioneertown is an old western town that was erected in 1946 as a tourist attraction that has been used for movies and commercials ever since.  This was the second time we have been here.  Last time it was a lovely day out but everything was closed.  So we were hoping we’d find it open on a nice day.  We didn’t get much of a chance to see the town from our seats in the truck.
We started back down the mountain and headed for home.  Henry dropped us off and by that time the wind had picked up considerably.  We would not be going to the pool today.
We had to pick up some groceries today so we got back in the car and headed to town.  After shopping, we decided that we would pick up a couple of Chicken Pot Pies from KFC for our Dinner tonight.  By the time we got back home we were ready for Supper and sat down with our Pot Pies.
For the rest of the night we caught up on all the recorded shows we had on tape from previous days recordings.  We stayed up until 11 tonight finishing up the night with an episode of Lockup.
