We had decided today to go to LaMesa RV and see if they had a Winnebago Vista 30T on their lot.  It would be 6 feet shorter than our present one but we’ve been talking about downsizing.  And as we arrived we could see a Vista right in front of us.  We looked at the inside and it was exactly the motorhome we’ve been looking for.  Unfortunately it was a 2016 but only $94 thousand dollars.  They actually retail for 130.  We got a price on it but the monthly payment was not in our wheelhouse.
When we left we drove through a couple more lots but none of them was carrying Winnebagos.  Not that we’re hung up on a Winnebago, but that’s the direction we’ve always gone, and now the floor plan we like.
It was time for lunch by the time we got done looking at coaches so we stopped at the Bad Boys Café over in Rice Ranch.  We just got a couple of burgers but they were quite good, and the Cole Slaw was excellent.
On the way back home I dropped Sharon off at Prospector’s Panorama which is only a half block from our campsite.  She wandered around for awhile and when she came home we took a trip down to the west end of the Main Event.  There’s a tool place down there that I always like to walk through.  And I found a $29 air compressor that goes to 125 psi.  I would have bought it but I have no place to store it.
Sharon found a couple of other places to check out while we were down there and then we came back home.  We had “Pickle and Bologna” sandwiches for supper tonight.  Afterwards we staked out our positions in front of the Television for the night.  We lasted until 11 tonight by catching up on taped programs.

Our first stop this morning was for Breakfast at the Bad Boys Café. While we were here yesterday we noticed people eating a Ham and Cheese Omelette that looked very good.  Besides we ran out of LP Gas last night so the furnace was blowing cold air this morning, and without gas, we weren’t cooking anything this morning, including coffee.
After Breakfast we headed back to the motorhome and everything was ready to go except 1 jack that refused to come up.  We quickly got that resolved and took off.
Next stop was the gas station at 4 corners where they seemed to be selling LP for the same place as our regular place.  We put in 21.8 gallons of LP and then turned ourselves west and hit the highway.
We got to the top of the Chiriaco Summit when our steering went out again.  This was not good since it had just been fixed.  We drove the rest of the way to Desert Hot Springs with no Power Steering.
We arrived at Catalina Spa around noon and settled into a site near the pool.  We had gained an hour by crossing the CA/AZ border on the way over.
We had decided almost before we got here that we were going to take advantage of the new member rates and stay here for 3 months.  We’ll not have to move every 2 weeks as we have in the past.  But we paid for just two weeks to wait and see if we’ll like it doing it long term.  We’ll have to decided after the two weeks though or lose money in the process.
We had a lot of stuff on tape for this evening’s entertainment so we didn’t have to surf to find something to watch.  We stayed up until 10 tonight and just barely made it that far.

Yesterday we called Henry and Arlene Leduc, friends from Alberta, Canada after we got a message from them, that they were back in town.  We told them that we would pick them up for Taco Wednesday today at noon.  Taco Wednesday is a ritual that we’ve been celebrating for a dozen years or more.  We go to the VFW and have “Mexican” food and beer once a week.  The food isn’t anything special but it’s a way to get together.
Upon arrival at the VFW we found the place half empty but pretty much as we expected.  It’ll fill up for lunch just after New Years when all the Canadians are in town.  We got our usual hugs and kisses from Alice and Daisy, long time employees of the club.  Actually calling them “employees” is a misnomer since they volunteer and work only for tips.  But they’re quite friendly and could work in any restaurant in town.  We drank a few pitchers of suds before we ordered, and then finally settled down for lunch.
On the way home we stopped at Henry and Arlene’s to see the site they put them on.  Henry was in hog heaven as they had a shed on his site this year.  Henry does wood carving in his spare time and it was all set up as a little shop by him.  We’ve gotten several wood projects from Henry in the past.
As we drove in the gate at home we recognized Judy and Al Hartman, from Iowa, walking from the office.  We stopped for about 10 minutes and talked with them before we continued back home.  We’ve got a couple of friends here now, including Phil and Joyce Bach, who are at Thousand Trails, just a short skip down the road.
We finally made it back home and the “fun” couple decided to take a post lunch nap.  It didn’t take long before the two of us were up and back at em.
Sharon had decided she was going to make Steak Sandwiches out of the leftover steak from Christmas Eve.  The sandwiches were quite good and I enjoyed them more than eating the steak originally.  Although we did have more than just the meat on Christmas Eve.  We also had Old Fashioneds to was them down.  Yummmm!
We checked our guns at the door and settled in for a TV gazing night on the Telly.  We managed to make it to 10:30 tonight before we folded up our tents and headed for the padded room.

Thursday, December 31, 2015NEW YEAR’S EVE

We were up this morning with a couple of jobs to take care of this morning.  Our first stop was going to be to The Cottage 2 to have Breakfast this morning.  They have a lovely little Breakfast that only costs $5.39.  It’s a couple of Scrambled Eggs with Ham Pieces, Hash Browns and Biscuits and Gravy.  It’s quite good and very reasonably priced.  We arrived at the restaurant and the parking lot was full.  It’s like this a lot but its never really crowded inside.  Today was the exception, and the place was brimming with people, and we managed to find the last open table.  And someone had already stolen the 4th chair to the table.
After Breakfast we headed over to K-Mart to do some shopping for the week.  We had some essentials to pick up and also some groceries, including our Cornish Game Hens for Supper tonight.  I always ask for Game Hens for Dinner on New Years because they’re a pain to make, and Sharon always reminds me of that.  After K-mart we headed over to Von’s which is a grocery store to pick up the extra fixin’s for our Dinner.
We also stopped at Bob’s Auto on Dillon to see if he would work on the motorhome steering problem.  He said that he couldn’t get the motorhomes up his driveway if they’re longer than about 25 feet.  He was right as the driveway is quite a drastic transition incline.  I struck out there.
We continued on home, and by the time we got the groceries put away, it was time to go to the pool.  This will be our first time in the water since last winter.  We didn’t get much chance to go in, even though we were here until May last year. We were there for about a half hour and Al And Judy Hartman showed up and I teased her about being dragged down here in the cold.(weather)
We stayed for about an hour and a half before we took a dip in the hot tub and then headed toward home.  Sharon needed time to cook the birds and I just decided to come home with her.  And besides I knew we’d be sloshing Old Fashioneds while we waited for the cooking to be done.
The Game Hens turned out to be a fabulous Dinner.  It always is, and the Old Fashioneds were also very tasty.  We also had Red Potatoes Mixed with Onions, Green, Yellow and Orange Peppers baked together in Olive Oil in the oven.  Garlic Bread finished off the meal.  Unfortunately I’ll have to wait for awhile before I get this feast again.
We rang in the New year about 10 when we wandered off to bed for the night.

Friday, January 1, 2016HAPPY NEW YEAR

Here we go again.  Sharon woke up this morning with allergies driving her nuts.  This is not going to be a fun day for her to say the least.  And if she’s being bothered already, I can’t be far behind.  We may have worn out our welcome here in California.  It’s sad to say but we can’t keep coming back if we’re both sick all winter.
We really didn’t have anything to do today except to try to find out if Two Springs was doing their Breakfast yet.  It’s really too good to pass up, and it only happens once a week.
Sharon wouldn’t be going for her walk this morning.  And consequently I won’t have to hold down the Fort while she’s gone.
By the time we got done eating lunch, it was no surprise that Sharon was not feeling much like going to the pool this afternoon. No matter, it wouldn’t be the first time we missed out on going to the pool.  In fact, last year we missed the pool almost as much as we were in it.  It was all my fault last year.  Although the missing roof on the motorhome did play a small part in the outcome also.
Sharon was pretty much into multiple naps today and I was into just watching the TV for the afternoon.
We both had Stuffed Meatballs for Supper tonight.  They were leftovers from home that had been in the freezer.  They were only, okay, but it did keep Sharon from cooking tonight and I didn’t have to run for food.
After Supper I assumed the position in front of the tube and spent the night being entertained.  We stayed up until 10:30 tonight before everybody decided it was time for lala land.

Saturday, January 2, 2016

We waited for a call from Two Springs RV Resort for the last two days and never received it.  We’ll have to find a more direct method to check on whether the Saturday Buffet is happening or not.
Sharon was off on her walk for the first time in two days after she got her allergies back yesterday.
I, on the other hand, got about cooking my Breakfast of Bacon, Eggs, Hash Browns and Toast.  It turned out very good but I was still envious of whether the buffet was going on down the road.  We will definitely find out the situation before next Saturday.
By the time Sharon got back she was carrying our mail from last week, which was good because I only had 1 week’s worth of medications left.  We also had a couple of Christmas cards in this weeks batch.
By the time the afternoon rolled around we were both ready for the pool, having not gone yesterday.  We were in the pool for about 45 minutes, almost by ourselves, until Al and Judy showed up.  After that it seemed like a bunch of people showed up.  There was probably 30 people just floatin’ around and doing “Senior Stuff.”  We stayed for about 2 and a half hours before we headed back home.
We would be having Impossible Taco Pie for Supper tonight.  We’ve had it a couple of times before and absolutely loved it.  And tonight was no different.
After Dinner we assumed our usual positions in front of the tube.  We had recorded a series of show called, “Untold Stories of the E.R..”  Having worked in an E.R. for 4 years in the service, I’ve seen some of the ridiculous situations that they’ve encountered on that show.  Some of the time I even know what’s wrong with these people before the doctors on the show do.  But I also realize that they have to stretch out the show to make it last an hour.
We actually lasted until 11 o’clock tonight having to watch the regular shows on the networks also.

Sunday, January 3, 2016

Sharon was off to church this morning and I was off to the Breakfast table.  She had told me yesterday that when church was over she intended to browse for a long time through K-Mart.  So I’m not expecting her home anytime soon.
After Breakfast I finished up the Newsletter and am waiting for Sharon to proofread it before I send it out.  The irony is, that she really can’t spell that well, but my problem is that sometimes I use grammar that doesn’t work.  We make a good team trying to get this thing written.
By the time I finished up, she was back from the church, and K-Mart, bearing gifts. The first was a couple of the “church lady” Tamales for lunch.  A couple of Sundays out of the month the Mexican ladies are outside the church selling Tamales.  She always manages to buy them whenever they’re there.  And it’s probably the same group of ladies so they’re always good.
She also brought home a container of Danish that we dipped into after we had our lunch.  They were also quite good indeed.  A person has got to have dessert.
During lunch we got a call from Phil and Joyce Bach asking if we wanted to go to the Hibachi City Buffet for lunch tomorrow.  We’ll meet them at 1:30 and Phil asked if Henry and Arlene would go.  We called Henry and they were game for lunch.
After lunch we decided to go to the pool for a couple of hours.  This will be our last day since they’re shutting down the Hot Tub for repairs for a week.  We can’t decided whether we’ll go to the Lower or the Upper pool for the next week.  That’s a difficult decision since the Upper pool is cooler for the Water Volleyball players.  But that Hot Tub is still working.
We were at the pool for at least 2 hours today and the Hartmans were the only folks that we knew who showed up.
We came home and after a while we grilled out Playmoor Burgers for Supper tonight.  We call them that after the restaurant that we get them from at home.  It’s one patty of Ground Beef and one patty of Bratwurst with cheese on each patty and then covered with onions and Horseradish Sauce.  It’s a concoction to die for.
After Dinner we succumbed to our usual embarrassment  for the week.  Sitting in front of the TV and watching the Packers lose another game.  The pain and suffering will be over in one more week.  Although they’re in the playoffs, I’m sure they’ll not disappoint and lose the first playoff game next week.
We watched a couple of taped shows after the game and lasted until 11 tonight.
