I got up this morning with a task at hand.  I needed to make another trip up to Camping World to pick up a new thermostat for the furnace.  Sharon went for a walk early and stopped at Corky’s to tell him about yesterday’s party but he had already heard.  By the time she got back I was already showered, breakfasted and ready to go north.
It’s about a half hour trip to Camping World up in Robertsdale, and we made the journey right around lunchtime so we could stop and get a burger on the way home.  And in factwe stopped at Checkers on the way home and got ourselves a couple of Big Bufords and fries.  It took about an hour and a half to make the whole trip and we got back home about 1 PM.
I got busy on the thermostat this afternoon, and by the time I got done, everything was working just fine.  The air conditioning and the furnace work off the same thermostat and both of them were working again.  I love it when a plan comes together.
I spent most of the rest of the afternoon working on a video and editing.  I had actually lost the entire video when I was in Florida and haven’t been able to find it on my computer.  I’ve searched my entire hard drive and what appears to be the file will not open.  I’ve had to re-import it again with the raw footage.
By the time Supper rolled around neither of us was hungry after the Big Buford and fries we had for lunch.  That won’t hold us over all night, however, and I’m sure we’ll be snacking on something tonight.
We had plenty to watch on TV tonight and none of it was re-runs.  I even had a couple of shows taped and left over for tomorrow.  We both lasted until 10:45 tonight before we turned out the lights and tippy-toed to Dreamland.

Tuesday, April 1, 2014APRIL FOOLS DAY

We awoke to a very nice sunshiny day today and that makes two in a row.  I think they’re predicting rain by Friday though which is a surprise.  NOT!
I stopped over to Corky’s this morning after he sent a message home with Sharon that it was such a nice day out today, I should get my butt out and enjoy it.  She was out for her walk and stopped over there.  When I got there, I told him I had been out “enjoying” the day.  I was dumping my holding tanks and that’s always fun.
By the time I got back it was lunchtime and we had planned on going out for lunch for a new experience.  We had planned on going to Doc’s Seafood down by Orange Beach for their Spider Burger and fries.  The Burger is a soft-shelled Spider Crab battered and Deep Fried and then placed on a bed of tomatoes and lettuce on a hoagy roll.  We had heard about it at the party the other day and were anxious to try it.
At lunch we ended up at Doc’s and had the Burger and it was great.  It was kind of weird eating it but it tasted very good and the fries were also special.  We heard about another sandwich from the next table while we sat there.  Apparently up in Foley they have a sandwich called a Cajun Pistol.  If we have a chance we’ll have to try that too.
After we came back home Corky and Deb were gone with their relatives so we didn’t have a chance to tell them about the Spider Burger or the Cajun Pistol.
When we got home we noticed that our bathroom vent was disconnected from its elevating arm.  We spent the next hour and a half trying to get that hooked up again.  I thought that I could fix it from the inside but the cover was off its hinge and laying on the roof.  Sharon went up on the roof after some coaxing and rehooked the hinges.  I can’t climb the vertical ladder on the back of the motorhome anymore, for specific reasons, so she decided she could do it.  She did and it worked out just fine.
By the time Dinner rolled around neither of us was hungry for anything having eaten a late lunch.  This meant we’d be snacking tonight during the TV watching time.  We managed to have plenty of available shows on tonight but the episode of Chicago Fire was a re-run.  We lasted until 10:30 anyway before we cancelled our tickets.

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

We really had nothing to do today but we were off to Waffle House for Breakfast.  There was no reason that we couldn’t start off the day with a good Breakfast.  Besides we needed some energy to stop at the store and pick up more groceries for the rest of the week.
When we got back, Sharon put a Pork Shoulder in the Crock Pot for Pulled Pork Sandwiches for Supper tonight.  By the time that baby simmers all day long in there, it will be tender as all get out for tonight.  I know, because I’ve been making pulled pork like that for years.
I was also given some jobs to do after I got back home.  Mainly to clean up all the tools that have been laying around from various jobs that have been done over the past few days.  I managed to take all day to complete that job so she wouldn’t find anything else for me to do.
We sat down to Supper tonight with our Pulled Pork sandwiches, Potato Salad and Baked Beans.  It was all quite delicious, if I must say.  We ate somewhat early tonight since this was the night we go to the Elks for trivia.  Right after dishes we left for the Elks Club and met our team there.  They were Debbie’s two sisters and a Niece and Nephew.  We had a good time and for awhile we were on a real roll.  But again we finished “out of the money”.  Apparently we have no trouble choking at the right time.
We got back home at around 9 and just in time to catch a couple of the shows I taped tonight.  That DVR is a godsend since we don’t have to worry about missing any of our regular shows when we’re out for an evening.  I stayed up past my bedtime just to wind down from the evening.  I checked out about 10:45.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

We got up to a nice sunshiny day today but we had a little wind blowing.  But that might not be a bad thing since it was going to be warm today.  As soon as I got done with my journal today I put on some old clothes and went out to work on the spare tire of the motorhome.  It got dislodged from it’s cradle since we came back from Florida.
I needed a pipe wrench to turn the winch that holds the tire up to the bottom of the chassis.  I went over to Corky’s but he didn’t have one, so my next stop was the maintenance garage of the park.  I took my scooter and zipped over there in nothing flat.  They had a wrench but it was the worst one I’d ever seen.  The adjustment wheel was messed up and the teeth in the jaws were almost non-existent.  It did work, however, and with Sharon’s help we got the tire back up in place again.
It was about lunchtime by the time we finished, and knowing that we were going to the Legion tonight for Dinner, we sat down and had a couple of hot dogs for lunch.
It started getting muggy inside the motorhome this afternoon so we fired up the air conditioner to make it more comfortable.  We had to use it while we were in Florida but not so much since we’ve been in Alabama.
We took off for the Legion for our usual fish and shrimp dinners at our usual time tonight.  We were the only ones at the tables when we walked in, but about 10 minutes later the “crowd” showed up.  It was considerably  less than the number of people who were here last week.  I think we knew it would be somewhat like this by the number of empty spaces in the RV park.
When we got back home we stopped at Corky and Deb’s to see if they wanted to go up to the Fish River Grill tomorrow.  We wanted to go up and try their “cajun pistol” before we leave.  They decided that they would go with us and after a few minutes we came home.
It was going to be another TV watching night tonight.  We had some shows on that we like but for the most part we’ll watch taped shows from other nights.  We stayed up til 11 tonight before we gave it all up and headed south.

Friday, April 4, 2014

We were supposed to be getting rain today but when we got up the Sun was shining and it had the possibilities of a very nice day.  It still looks like we might get it this afternoon, however, and I have no doubt it will come to fruition.
We had planned on going out for lunch today with Corky and Deb to the Fish River Grill #2 up in Foley but Deb got notified that her Niece Terry ended up in the hospital today with a medical problem.  So she was off to the hospital to lend any help she could.  We spoke to Corky and he said if she wasn’t back by the time we should leave, just go without us.
Our time for departure came and went and we hadn’t heard anything from Deb so we took off for the restaurant.  We wanted to go up to that restaurant to try their Cajun Crawfish Pistols.  We had heard about them when we were at Doc’s Seafood the other day trying the Spider Burger.  The Pistols seem to be a 3" Bun that is filled with a mixture much like an Etoufee’, with onions, garlic, green pepper and of course the crawfish then it may or may not be deep fried.  It is absolutely delicious.  We also had swamp soup, cole slaw and french fries to go along with it.  It was a very nice lunch in a very nice restaurant.  The restaurant has a marine motif with a variety of things on the walls.  I was most impressed with a stand that had about 6-7 “lifesize” wooden carvings of actual marine-life on it.  There was also a lot of other stuff on the walls that were too numerous to mention.  But all in all it was a very nice experience and we were able to try another food that we have no chance of getting at home.
On the way back home we glanced over at Corky’s and the truck was still gone so we figured that Deb was still probably at the hospital with Terry.  We just sat around relaxing for the rest of the afternoon and the rains came.  It was quite the storm for about an hour.
Neither of us was interested in eating Dinner tonight since we had a late lunch today and were still full from that.  But I’m sure we’ll indulge in a little snackin’ tonight when we do get hungry.
We had a full night of TV gazin’ on tap for the night.  Even the shows that Sharon likes were on tonight.  We were up until Bill O’Reilly finished on Jimmy Fallon tonight and then we headed for the hay stack about 11-ish.

Saturday, April 5, 2014

The forecast today was for an entire day of rain and the forecast didn’t disappoint.  Although it was intermittent, it did mostly rain all day.
We had nothing planned for today so we just sat inside with our electronics and entertained ourselves.  The TV was experiencing “rain fade” today so we relied on shows we already had taped and on the DVR.
Interestingly enough, we had park entertainment all around us today.  We had three trailers that were squatters (people who stay for long periods in one place) leaving to go home either today or tomorrow.  They were packing up their stuff in their vans and hauling off their steps to storage and generally getting ready to go back home for the year.  We were getting tired just watching them getting everything ready to go.
After supervising all that work all afternoon we were ready for a substantial Supper by the time we sat down to our Rigatoni and Meatball meal tonight.  Sharon made garlic bread out of a couple of hamburger buns and also cracked a bottle of wine for the occasion.  It was all quite good indeed.  While making the Rigatoni Sharon complained about always having leftover sauce so she matched the sauce with additional Rigatoni this time.  I’m sure we’ll have enough for at least a “couple” more meals.  Actually we’ll probably have Rigatoni coming out of our ears by the time we finish it up.
After dishes, we headed back to our favorite spots to watch the tube for the night.  Saturdays are really bad nights for TV but we managed to surf the cable channels to find enough to watch until the bewitching hour arrived.  We even managed to find a new episode of Lockup on MSNBC.  We stayed up until 11 tonight but only cause we didn’t really realize what time it was.  We have enough clocks around here so you’d think we would have glanced at one.

Sunday, April 6, 2014

Sharon was off to church this morning as soon as she got up and ready.  I sat and watched my Sunday political shows and got frustrated again.  I’m getting tired of listening to the Democrats age old lies how successful Obamacare is because they signed up 7 million people.  Not accounting, of course, for the 6.5 million people who lost their insurance last year, and not counting the number of people who will lose it when the Employer mandate kicks into law on 2016, right after the election. You can’t say the liar-in-chief doesn’t have good timing.  I turned each and every one of those shows off before they ended this morning.
When Sharon got back we decided to go to Kentucky Fried Chicken and get an order of Dippers for lunch.  We had been seeing them on TV for months now and just wanted to try them.  I didn’t really care for the crispy coating on the chicken but otherwise our lunch was very good.  We had 4 dipping sauces between the two of us but they were out of the Orange Ginger sauce that I wanted.
We went to the gas station after we left KFC to see if we could get gas in the tank.  The other day we couldn’t get any in because of a blocked filler pipe that we experienced.  We stopped at Ford the other day and they said to just force the nozzle in.  This morning the nozzle just went right in.  Go figure.
We came back home after lunch and stopped at Corky and Deb’s to see how Terry was doing.  She apparently went home last night to return for additional tests over the next few days.
We came home and just relaxed for the afternoon.  Sharon got out a jigsaw puzzle and worked on that for the rest of the afternoon.  I think it was a 500 piece puzzle so she will be working on that for a few days.
We ate a bread bowl for Supper tonight because of the semi-big lunch today.  Sharon took a frozen loaf of bread from the freezer and baked it into two ball-loaves.  We cut out the top and filled it with soup.  It was an experiment that turned out very good.  Neither of us had ever had one but we’ve seen them on TV.
After Supper Sharon camped out in a chair in vies of the TV to work her puzzle and I just retired to my recliner.  We watched the ACM Country Music awards for awhile tonight and then switched over to watch a couple of programs on another network.  We taped the rest of the awards so we could watch it later.  We were up until 11 tonight before we finally retired for the night.
