We awoke to a rather chilly day today that was overcast and not looking very good.  We left the campground with the Bachs headed for the All Star Burger Restaurant up on the corner.  Sharon and I had been there once before this year for their Breakfast Special. It is 2 Eggs, 2 Sausage, Hash Browns and Toast for under $5.  It’s very good and very convenient since we only have to drive a half mile for it.
By the time we got back Sharon took off with the laundry and I got around to fixing a couple of things in the motorhome and cleaning up the place.  By the time she got back around noon it was looking all overcast outside and it had started to rain.  Not very much rain, but rain never-the-less.  We wouldn’t be going to the pool as long as it was raining at all.  Every time it looked we could go the rain started again.  We decided after a while that today had washed itself out for the pool.
We were snacking all afternoon and Sharon even made cookies today that left us not very hungry for Super.  So she decided that she wasn’t cooking anything for Dinner tonight.  It wasn’t a problem for either of us.  I had leftover Shrimp Etouffee’ and she munched on a leftover Pork Chop with mixed vegetables.  We were both very happy with ourselves.
Our entertainment tonight was another Republican Debate from Tampa, Florida.  For some reason it also screwed up our ability to tape our usual shows at their right time.  We ended up watching TV til after 11 in order to see our regulars.  And what we didn’t get to see tonight, we’ll catch sometime tomorrow.

Sharon was up and walking this morning as usual.  The weather didn’t appear too friendly when she left so she was dressed in Jeans and jacket.  I sat and watched my Fox and Friends newscast on tape while she was gone.  By the time she got back the sky had a few clouds in it but the day was definitely improved.
We ate our Breakfast and then got ready for our day.  We were planning to go to Almar Acres today for their soup special.  You get all the soup you can eat and bread for $4 a person.  The bread is almost the best part of the meal.  It tastes like home made but of course it was purchased from somewhere downtown.  But it is, out of this world, good.
At 11:45 we left for Almar Acres Campground and expected to have to park on the street, not having access to the gated campground.  We were pleasantly surprised to find the gate wide open so we just drove right in.  It was nice for me not to have to walk to get to the clubhouse.  We were one of the first to arrive at the clubhouse dining room as there were very few people there.  We didn’t learn til afterwards that their attendance was way down and that they may discontinue the “soup Tuesdays” in the future, or at least curtail them somewhat.  That would be a shame, but something we have no control over.
By the time we got back to Catalina it was almost time to go to the pool for the afternoon.  The campground is still relatively empty compared to other years which naturally translates to fewer people in the pool in the afternoon.  Today was really no different than its been for the last month.  We stayed at the pool today til just after 4 when we came home for the night.
The State of the Union speech is on TV tonight.  I can hardly wait to hear the fairy tales he’s going to tell tonight.  As far as I can see it’ll just be another night of screwed up TV.
I wasn’t wrong in my expectations as the President came through beautifully.  He lied and cajoled through his eye teeth and the programming was all screwed up.  We made it til just after 10 before we closed up shop and turned out the lights.

We were up and ready early today.  Our plan was to go to the VFW a little later today to see if we could miss the crowd and find a place to sit immediately.  We were successful in our plan and found some seats in exactly where we wanted to sit.  We had our usual fare and the required number of pitchers of beer and then came back home again.
We were home early at about 2 PM and in just enough time to take a little nap before going to the pool.  Naps have become almost an automatic thing now every afternoon.  It’s a hard habit to get out of once you get into a pattern.  It’s also a good way to combat the boredom of doing the same thing every day.
By the time we got back home it was going to be another “no Dinner” night.  We never seem to be hungry after spending time at the VFW, and we always end up finding something from the fridge to snack on for the night.
The only exciting thing that was going to happen tonight was a couple of shows with original programming.  And we still had a couple of shows taped from last night during the State of the Union Show.  We almost managed to get completely caught up tonight, but heavy eyelids overtook our consciousness and we fell into bed.  Besides we needed to get up early tomorrow.

We were up and off early this morning headed to the Augustine Casino for their Buffet Breakfast.  Augustine is down the highway about 30 miles from our campground, but Phil offered to drive, so we offered to ride along.  It worked out for both of us.
There was supposed to be a slot machine tournament today and we were concerned about how busy it would be this morning.  I think we actually arrived before the crowd since we didn’t have any lines to wait in, either at the desk or the Dining Room.  The food was actually very good and there was plenty of it.  But the best thing about the Breakfast was the price. $4.50 for each of us.
By the time we got back home it was 11:30 after a short side trip to Staples so Phil could pick up batteries.  While he was in Staples Sharon did a little shopping of her own at Smart and Final.  The whole trip had taken up the entire morning.  But we did have a good time anyway.
Although when Sharon got home she started getting an upset stomach.  By the time the pool rolled around she was not going today.  I decided I wouldn’t go either until it got so warm in the coach I was forced to go without her.  I was only over there for a couple of hours but she napped while I was gone.  When I got back she still didn’t feel much better.
We didn’t have anything for Dinner tonight because we were still sated from Breakfast.  We should both be losing weight with the meals we aren’t eating.  Yeah right!  I guess it doesn’t work that way.
We camped out in front of the TV looking for the Republican Debate but only found it when there was a half hour left in it.  I had to scramble with our regular shows to even watch that.  There were really no fireworks in the portion that we watched.  But I’m sick of the petty arguing anyway.
Sharon took off early for bed tonight to get some more rest.  She took her crossword puzzle book but I know how long that lasts.  I toughed it out until 10:30 before I folded up my tent tonight.

By this morning Sharon seemed to be feeling better so she went for a little walk around the bottom of the park.  When she got home she ate some cereal and an Orange and headed for the bed again.
By noon she was back up again but feeling much better.  We both went to the pool around 2:30 and stayed for the afternoon.  The pool was sparsely populated even though it was a beautiful day and the pool was nice and warm.  I think it’s just translating into the number of people in the campground.
By the time we got home Sharon had decided that she really didn’t want to cook tonight, which was perfectly fine with me.  Since it was Friday we could go to Carl’s Jr. and have a Fish Sandwich and Fish and Chips.  She also needed to do some grocery shopping and pick up a few things.  By the time we got back home the sun had set and it was dark outside.  Just in time for TV.
We got to actually watch some regular TV tonight instead of political crap.  Even though the shows were repeats for the most part at least I didn’t have to hear who’s ahead of who in the polls.  I’m getting to the point where I just don’t care anymore.
We were both entertained until about 10:30, when we ran out of entertainment, and just decided to head for the padded room.

We were planning on doing some Rummage Sale shopping today but Phil and Joyce wanted to get going so I told them to go ahead. Neither of us was very disappointed in not going.  It was one of those deals where we would go if we were ready on time and so forth.  But not going didn’t really make much difference to Sharon or me.
We were welcomed with another day from the weather books.  We’ve only got a couple of more days here in Desert Hot Springs before we head back to Arizona and Yuma.  But today was another shining example of how nice the weather can actually be here when it wants to.
By lunchtime Sharon whipped up some Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches for the two of us.  The Bacon smelled funny while it was cooking but it tasted fine and neither of us got any ill effects from it.  It’s hard for Bacon to turn bad and it was only a couple of weeks old and it was always refrigerated, so I wasn’t too worried.  Besides the sandwiches were a nice change of pace.
We were off to the pool early today since this would be Phil and Joyce’s last day here for awhile.  When we got there Joyce was in the pool and Phil was in the Pool Room winning another 3/5 of a burger.  It was awhile before he finally got done and came out to the pool.  We managed to stay at the pool til about 4:30 before we called it quits and warmed ourselves up in the hot tub and then came back home.
Sharon had invited the Bachs over for a little adult beverage break after the pool and as soon as Phil was done dumping thy stopped over. They stayed for about an hour until it started getting cold outside.  They went home, across the street, and we came inside.
The rest of the night we spent trying to decide if the shows we were watching were repeats or not.  Usually we don’t remember if we saw a show until we’re halfway through it.  Sometimes that lack of knowledge gets us through the bad programming, and sometimes it’s necessary to activate the movies on the DVR.  For the next week we have free HBO to pick from. We’ve already obtained a couple of movies that we haven’t seen before.
Tonight we stayed awake til 11 watching another forgettable show on Discovery.  It was something about Frontier Alaska or something.  Sometimes you watch stuff just to see if you should invest the time to watch it again.

Sharon was off to church and the bakery early this morning.  It looked to be another lovely day for sure.
While she was gone I cooked us a nice big Breakfast consisting of Omelettes, Hash Browns and Toast.  It was almost ready when she got home, and it was all quite good.
After Breakfast Sharon decided she was going to wipe down the car to get rid of all the dust collected over the past couple of weeks.  I had a window dressing to fix and I needed to check our battery situation before we leave on Tuesday.  I also decided to check the oil on the motorhome since I hadn’t done it since we arrived here.  Everything looked like it was okay and the window was now fixed..........again.  It seems like I have to fix that window every year.  I’m running out of wall to screw the damn thing to.
After Sharon got done with the car she began putting our chairs and tables away.  She took them out so it was only practical for her to put them away.  Besides we never used them anyway.
We left for the pool early today and the temperature of the water was quite warm.  Some people in the pool estimated it to be around 95 degrees.  It felt like you were taking a hot bath for two hours, so consequently we left the pool to come home early.  On the way out we jumped in the hot tub but even that didn’t feel very good.  It was hotter than usual and after getting out of the pool, it was overwhelming.
Sharon planned Spaghetti and Meatballs along with Salad and Garlic Bread for Supper.  It was all quite good indeed.  In fact, Spaghetti and Meatballs is one of my fav’s.
TV was no better tonight than it has been on any Sunday night this year so far.  Repeats and lousy shows headlined our choices.  I’m beginning to think we need to get a life besides watching TV.  We did manage to get ourselves to 11 o’clock however.  One wonders sometimes how we manage.
