Today we just wanted to get to Casa Grande, Arizona and to our campground there.  We really had one stop to make and that was for gas on the way.  I checked the prices on the net last night and found a station in Tucson that was selling it for $2.85.  Of course as luck would have it by the time we got there, it was selling for $2.97.
Tucson does have a very nice highway going through the city now.  They had construction going on last year when we came through, and now it’s finished.  They added an extra lane from South Tucson to just north of Marana.
We arrived at the campground around 1:30 and sent out e-mails to my Cousin Tom McKenna and Mary Milan to let them know we were here and settled.  We’ll make plans for later on in the week.  For now, I think we’ll just go to Golden Corral for Breakfast tomorrow.
Sharon was into decorating the motorhome for Christmas this afternoon so I gave her a hand.  It took us about an hour to get everything up and lit.  It now looks quite festive in here.
Neither of us was very hungry for Supper tonight so we just fended for ourselves.  We had enough leftovers in the fridge to take care of both of us.  And they were quality leftovers also.
We were camped in front of the TV for the night as Sharon wrote out our Christmas cards.  Everybody gets our cards early but we don’t get ours til the first week in January.  It takes a while through our mail-forwarding.
We hung in there until 10 and then gently slipped between the sheets.  The time change is absolutely killing us.  We can’t seem to find or watch enough to get us to bedtime.

The rain that had threatened yesterday started falling for real this morning.   It actually started last night but continued on into today.
We were off to Golden Corral this morning for their Buffet Breakfast.  The restaurant here is always very busy and today was no different.  “Tourist” buses seem to make this their first stop, and the buses are filled with Mexicans.  The place was crowded when we got there, and another bus stopped while we were there.  The food was excellent and very fresh and we always look forward to eating there a couple of times while we’re here.
On the way home, we stopped at the Post Office to mail our Christmas cards to friends and relatives.  Sharon also had one for Arlene and Henry LeDuc that she had to go inside to buy the postage for.  They’re at home in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and won’t be coming down this year.
The rain is still falling and looks like it will continue all day.  I feel like a hermit having to stay indoors to keep from getting wet.  And it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon.
We had Kielbasa Sausage and Macaroni and Cheese for Supper tonight.  We also had a little side dish of Steakhouse Beans.  It was quite good indeed.  Maybe because I’m partial to Macaroni and Cheese and will eat it like Peanut Butter and Jelly.
We had a couple of favorites on TV tonight so needless to say we were camped out in our favorite spots for the evening.  With the DVR running full time now, we found enough to watch to carry us to 10 o’clock.  Actually we lasted tonight until 11 before we
packed up our valuables and left the scene.

The rain was still falling today when we got up, but it’s supposed to subside some time today. During a lull in the rain I hooked-up our utilities and drained our gray water.
We had planned yesterday to go to the movies and see “J. Edgar” at noon today.  We figured our lunch would be the container of buttered popcorn we’d have at the theater.
We enjoyed the movie but came out of it with a very strange feeling.  We didn’t know if we should love or hate him when it was all over.  It was more like a docudrama that told his side of the story.
On the way home we stopped at the grocery store to pick up some staples for the next few days.  Dennis and Mary Ceshker, from Mesa, will be stopping by tomorrow for lunch so Sharon needed something to make.  I decided to pick up some snacks while we were there.
We went to the Elks Club with Jerry and Mary Milan tonight for supper.  We always manage to go out with them a couple of times while we’re here.  So tonight was just a preliminary for the next week or so.
After the Elks we came home and settled in front of the tube.  The DVR had already recorded a couple of shows that we’ll fit in sometime tonight.  I also wanted to catch Rush Limbaugh on Greta Van Sustern tonight.  He’s always an entertaining speaker, and of course I agree with most of what he says because of the logic behind it.
We watched some live, and some taped shows tonight and found ourselves in bed when 10 bells rolled around.  We had had a busy day.

I got up this morning feeling a little under the weather.  It was most likely because of the beer we drank last night.  And the fog that had settled over the campground overnight made it that much drearier this morning.  It was about 10 o’clock before it finally burned off and the sun came out.  It actually finally turned out to be a really decent day today.
We got up and ready to greet Dennis and Mary Ceshker from Mesa today.  They were stopping down to have lunch with us, and Sharon was whipping up 4 Pasties to have for lunch.  We had picked up a Red Velvet Cake yesterday to have for dessert after eating.
Dennis and Mary arrived about 10:30 and reported that they had to drive through the fog out on the Interstate.  Apparently it hadn’t cleared out there as quickly as it had here.
We sat around for quite a while just shooting the breeze.  When they found out that we couldn’t get the Packer game here on Sunday they invited us to Mesa to watch it.  We’re hoping they change the schedule to allow the Packers to be seen on the tube.  But if all else fails we’ll go visiting on Sunday.
Dennis and Mary left around 4 and Sharon quickly gathered up the laundry and advanced on the laundry room after driving to the corner gas station to pick up some change.  The campground refuses to make change available, but they don’t mind reaping the profit from us using them.
We had separate Dinners tonight as Sharon was gone, working her butt off, when I got hungry.  So I just rustled up some leftovers from the fridge for supper.   When Sharon got back, she did the same, and had a salad with some sliced chicken on top.
After Supper we watched the Republican Debate on TV for a couple of hours while the DVR caught our regular programs for later viewing.  The debate was probably the best one so far with everyone showing up quite knowledgeable.  We were up til 11 tonight, catching all our taped shows before we went to bed.

The sun made an appearance early today when it got up just after me.  It stayed out all day and it turned into a reasonably nice day in the 50's.
We didn’t have anything particular to do today except go to my cousin’s in Tucson later on this afternoon.  We were invited to stop down today and have Dinner with them and my Aunt.
Sharon needed to whip up her chocolate dessert, but after that, we just sat around and relaxed for most of the day until 3 o ‘clock rolled around.  We each even settled in for a little nap before we were done.
At 3 we started getting ready for the trip to the big city.  We gathered up our stuff and headed out.  We didn’t realize that we forgot the dessert until we got about 3 miles from the campground.  It only took us a few minutes to turn around and retrieve it but Sharon called Tom and Dawn to let them know that we would be a few minutes late.
When we got close to their place about an hour later, we used the GPS to try to get us there, even though we already knew how to get to our destination.  As it turned out the GPS wanted us to go on a non-existent road.  I’ve had this happen at home also.  That’s why it’s never good to completely rely on the GPS unless you really don’t know where you’re going.  We arrived at 5:30 almost a half hour later than we had planned.
We had a very lovely Dinner of fresh cut Tenderloin, Baked Potatoes, a sliced Apple and Squash combination and of course Sharon’s Chocolate Dessert.  It was all very good.
We sat around before and after Dinner and caught up on our families.
We left around 8 PM to take the drive back home, and managed to get home by 9:30.  We were still in time to catch a couple of shows from the DVR before we headed for the feathers.  We actually had 3 days of Jeopardy to watch which took us right up to bedtime.  A nice finish to the day.

We didn’t have anything specific to do today but, as usual., Sharon found something to do.  Later on she would take off on what turned into a shopping trip to the Family Dollar to pick up a new Crossword Puzzle book.
As she left the campground she stopped next door to have the car washed, at the automatic car wash.  We’ve traveled through some rain on the way here and the car and the motorhome looks horrible.  We were going to stop and have the motorhome done but they were still threatening rain before we got here.
She was off to the Dollar Store after that to do a little shopping. She picked up a load of Coke, the drinkable kind, and several other staples for the next week.  When she got out of the car she realized what a lousy job the car wash had done on the car.  She was not a happy camper after paying what she did for the cleaning.
After shopping she stopped back at the car wash and complained and they gave her money back.  She was tickled pink.
After she got home I realized that she wasn’t just going for a puzzle book, which she didn’t get, but rather to pick up a few things without going to the big grocery store.
By this time she laid out the stuff we would be having for supper, with instructions to heat it up, and she took off for church.  So while she was gone I was in charge of peeling the potatoes and cooking them, and ten heating up the rest of the Supper for both of us.
We would be having Chicken Breast with dressing, canned corn and mashed potatoes with gravy.  Yum Yum.  Everything was ready when she rolled in the door, and it was all very good.
We planted ourselves in front of the tube for the night and then surfed.  It was a lousy night for TV and Sharon finally gave up on it, and settled in with her cross-stitching.  When 10 rolled around we rolled out.  There was no point in staying up longer.

Sunday, December 18, 2011

We were up and showered early this morning with a plan to go to Mesa to watch the Packer game today.  Our friends Mary and Dennis Ceshker have the NFL Ticket on their programming and our normal channels are not carrying it.
The game will start at 11 and it will take just about an hour for us to drive up there, so we were already having Breakfast at 9 o’clock.  Sharon whipped up some homemade Egg McMuffins for the both of us, and we quickly sent them to the “calorie storage bin”.
We left home about 9:45 and arrived at the Ceshker’s just before 11.  They were already home from church but for the next 10 minutes we sat in the car and waited for them to come home.  Sharon finally went and knocked on the door and we found out they were there.
We went in and sat down and proceeded to watch the most miserable game I’ve ever seen Green Bay play.  Not only was the defense somewhere else, but the offense had joined them today.  It was the most embarrassing excuse for a professional football game ever.  At least now we won’t have to worry about what game they’re going to lose.  We can relax and get down to the business of winning the rest of the season, or at least the important games.
We did have a very nice early Dinner today with Papa Murphy pizzas, including a dessert pizza that tasted like a fresh cinnamon roll.  It was very good to say the least.
After pizzas we watched about half of the Denver game which Tim Tebow lost today.  It seemed like all the kings were dethroned today.
We started our drive back home just as the sun was on its last legs in the sky.  Traffic was pretty steady for a Sunday night but it didn’t hold us up at all along the way. We called Jaycee Dale to arrange for a Breakfast date this week so we’d get a chance to see her while we’re here.
We got home at dark and for the rest of the night we camped in front of the TV.  There was absolutely nothing worth watching on tonight so we just surfed the channels at random and when we found something we watched it until it was over.  We had a tough time lasting until 10 tonight but we finally made it.
