The start of another week and today was going to be "clean the motorhome" day. Although there isn't much to do since I've been keeping it clean this past week, I'll still refresh the place for the homecoming of the Queen. I'll save the vacuuming for tomorrow so it will look like I just did it, which I will have.
I made my own Breakfast at home this morning instead of going anywhere. I didn't feel like eating much so it wasn't that difficult to make up a couple of scrambled egg sandwiches. Besides it was easy to clean up after myself.
Phil and Joyce Bach came back into the park today around noon and settled into a site just a couple down from us.
After lunch I went to the pool and joined all the people bobbing in the pool. Some people might refer to it as swimming but there wasn't a single stroke being performed. I stayed at the pool today until about 4 and then came home to settle in front of the tube for the night. At about 5, Phil stopped over and wanted to know if I wanted to come over and indulge in a few adult beverages. He didn't need to convince me and I left for the Bach's for a couple of hours. I got home around 7 with my shows taped for the evening including "24" and "House" although I watched "live" TV for a couple of hours first before I replayed "24". Of course that would mean I would have to stay up past 10 in order to see all my shows.
By the time I was done with TV tonight it was around 11:15 and I needed to get up early tomorrow in order to get some stuff done. I had to print up an owner's manual for Phil in the morning since I hadn't gotten to it tonight. But I'll get it done long before he gets up.

Well today is D-Day and the General is storming the beach today. I'll pick Sharon up tonight at 10 o'clock after I drive over to Ontario Airport.
The regular day for Tops Propane to come into the park was today so I went and picked up a card at the gate to put on my windshield. Unfortunately they informed me at the gate that they came in yesterday. When I got home I called them and they said they came in yesterday because it was going to rain over here today. We'll see.
So my day had changed drastically for this morning anyway. Now I needed to pull the motorhome out of he campground and go for LP Gas. It was only up to the corner a half mile away but the process of shutting everything down is a pain in the butt. It took me about an hour to get everything situated and back on the site again. Man, I hate doing that, but on occasion when your careless about your fluid levels it happens.
After lunch today Phil and Joyce went to the pool early cause they were leaving to go to Redlands about 40 miles away to have their motorhome looked at. I also went over to the pool early so I'd have a chance to talk to them about coming back after their appointment. I actually stayed at the pool longer today than I normally do, and came back home about 4 o'clock. I was home in time to catch a couple of television shows have my supper and vacuum the shanty before Sharon gets home.
When I was at the pool today, I figured out that I could still go to Karaoke tonight, and still make it to Ontario in time to pick up Sharon. So after watching TV for an hour or so, I left for the clubhouse and Karaoke. I would have an hour before I needed to hit the road. I managed to croon 4 or 5 songs before my time ran out. The crowd was completely different than the crowds over the past 3 weeks.
At 8 I jumped in the car and headed west toward the airport. The rain that was supposed to come today, according to the LP people, had just started as I got onto the Interstate. I missed a turn through the rain but my GPS got me to the airport anyway in exactly the same amount of time, even though I came into Ontario a different way. Thank God for GPS and Garmin.
I got to the airport in plenty of time and had to actually find a place off the airport complex to park and wait for Sharon to call me. She actually arrived at a different terminal than I expected, and it took me a couple of minutes to find her in the crowd after I located the right terminal.
It took us another hour and a half to get back home and we talked and caught up all the way back. A week isn't such a long time but when you're not used to spending more than a day apart, it just seems quite long.
Wednesday, January 27, 2010HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN
Today was "Taco Wednesday" and neither of us went last week. From talking to people in the pool it was quite busy last week. So I'm guessing it will be just as busy this week.
I was starving this morning when I got up and decided to cook myself a couple of Egg McMuffins for Breakfast. Sharon had toast and opted out of the McMuffins.
By lunchtime we were off to the VFW to have our Mexican food and a couple of pitchers of beer. The place was very crowded and we heard later that the cook didn't show up until almost 1 o'clock. I guess they had waitresses in the kitchen making all the food up until then. They actually worked out fairly well until they were overwhelmed with the volume. The burrito I actually got when the food came was huge. I was full about 3 bites before I finished it, which didn't leave much room for the beer we were enjoying. We actually left about a half pitcher of beer when we left for home. And that doesn't ever happen to us there.
We came home and retired to our chosen places for a nap. It was easy after all that food and beer to relax in comfort for awhile. Neither of us stirred until the sun settled and the night crashed down. We had effectively gone through the day already.
Neither of us felt like having anything to eat at suppertime so we just fended for ourselves for the night.
Just before 6, and after dark, Phil and Joyce rolled back into the park from their appointment at Redlands Truck and RV. As soon as they got settled they stopped over and reported the price tag for their visit. It wasn't pretty and I'm sure neither of them was happy.
After they left we watched the State of the Union Speech by the "resident." He blamed Bush several times for the mess we're in, not mentioning all the spending he's been doing. I had to turn it off cause I couldn't listen to that lying snake anymore. The Republican response was rather tepid but what else can you expect from either party.
We watched the tube until 10 and then went to bed to finish our naps that we had this afternoon. A job isn't finished unless it's well done.

We were up this morning with a plan for the day. Sharon was off to the Laundromat and grocery shopping, I cleaned up the dirty dishes and at noon we were off to the Pak Inn for lunch. The Pak Inn is an appropriate name for the Chinese restaurant that is our favorite here.
We picked up Phil and Joyce at 1 and headed over to Palm Desert and the Pak Inn. The food was excellent as always and we were back home and in the pool by 3.
The weather was so nice out today it seemed a shame to miss the pool so we didn't.
We were at the pool til about 5 and then Sharon invited Phil and Joyce over for some adult beverages after they left the pool.
We sat and talked since they didn't want to play cards or Dominos, and had a couple of drinks. They stayed for an hour or so and then went home.
After they left, we settled in front of the idiot box for the rest of the night until the bewitching hour. I had taped several shows while Phil and Joyce were here so we could watch them later on tonight. We stayed up until about 10:30 and Sharon headed off to bed. I stayed up for a half hour or so until my chair broke again and then I ambled off to bed. I didn't even wait to see which part of my chair broke but it's a long standing defect that needs to be fixed at least every other year.

We were off to the Cottage Too this morning for Breakfast. Phil and Joyce and Sharon and I. They have a wonderful special that's very reasonable in price. As usual the food was good and there was plenty of it.
On the way home we stopped at the market so Phil could pick up some bananas, and then to K-Mart so Sharon could pick up some Greeting Cards and Coke. By the time we got back home it was only a couple of hours til pool time.
The sun was shining and it was quite warm out today and the water in the pool was absolutely lovely. Most of our regular crowd was in the water except for Roy who was playing Poker today. If he likes the game he always manages to play on Friday.
We stayed at the pool all afternoon until we remembered they were serving Ribs at the VFW tonight for supper. We've been advised that you have to go early and order when you get there. So that's what we did. Me and the Mrs. went by ourselves when we couldn't find any other takers for tonight. The VFW was already about ¾ full when we arrived, and it didn't take long before no more seats were readily available. It took about 30 minutes after we ordered to get our Dinner. The Ribs were excellent along with Baked Beans, a 4 inch piece of Corn on the Cob and a salad. We were on our way home before some people managed to get served.
After we got home we stopped over to Phil and Joyce's to report on the Dinner. We were over there for only about 15 minutes before we left and came back home.
We settled in front of the tube for the rest of the night watching shows that we taped earlier. We both headed for the rack at 10 and the Sandman came through and threw sand in our eyes.

We took off at 9 this morning to go to the different parks for their Flea Markets. Some of the campgrounds really do a number for their rummage sales., including arranging for vendors to come in, and cooking Burgers and Dogs for the whole town if they should show up.
Sharon found a couple of tops for dirt cheap and Phil found a couple of things and Joyce and I were blanked for the day. No matter, I don't usually find anything on these excursions anyway, and today was no different.
I thought eventually we'd find a place to have a burger today since most of the parks were cooking them and they smelled very good, but nobody expressed an interest in eating as early as we were there. So we opted to just finish up the sales and then come back home.
It was lunchtime by the time we got back so Sharon whipped up some Manwich that we both enjoy very much. We rounded out the lunch with Pickles, Olives and Chips. A nice change of pace.
After lunch we were both tired and settled in for a short afternoon nap. It actually turned into a medium length sleep.
By 2 we were ready for the pool so we left the confines of the motorhome and headed for the water. The pool, like it has been all year so far, was very warm and inviting. There was a ton of people in the pool and hot tub. Apparently the people had decided that this was the day for swimming. We stayed at the pool until late today before we came back home.
Sharon cooked Chicken Alfredo with Noodles, Garlic Crescent Rolls and a Salad for Supper tonight. It was all very good.
We opted for our usual entertainment tonight. That being the idiot box and re-runs. But generally there are no other options unless we opt for something outside the campground, lately.

Sharon was off to church this morning and I settled in front of the TV to watch all my Sunday political shows. I finished up with the TV just in time to get busy on the big Breakfast that we usually have at least every Sunday morning. By the time Sharon got back it was well underway and smelling very good in here.
I had a couple of things to do while she was gone this morning like checking oil on the motorhome, dumping the holding yanks and checking a taillight that works intermittently while on the road. I managed to get everything done except changing the taillight. Although I did run down to the corner and picked up a bulb after Breakfast. The rest of the stuff had to be done because this was a "get ready to go" day today since we'll be moving on to Yuma tomorrow.
We breezed right through lunch since we had just finished Breakfast and actually went to the pool early today. When we got there the pool was empty even though this was one of the nicest days this week temperature-wise. Of course by the time we left to come home at 4 the pool and the hot tub were full of people. A load of latecomers I guess.
Sharon cooked up some Chicken Stew with dumplings for supper. It was quite good indeed. We had never had Chicken Stew before but it tastes much like Beef Stew except with chicken instead.
We invited Phil and Joyce over after supper tonight to have a drink or two before we both leave tomorrow in different directions. They'll be going home for the next month. After they left we settled in front of the tube for the rest of the night. There wasn't much on tonight so we watched the movie Independence Day on TBS until 10 and the bewitching hour. Besides we'll be scramming from here possible early in the morning.
