We were on the road this morning by 9:30 to stop at a couple of sites this morning since we still need a couple of stories for the Newsletter.
Our first stop was down the road to Cabazon to the Robotic Dinosaur Museum and the giant Dinosaurs on the side of the highway.  We've known about these objects for a couple of years but were never able to stop down there.  After we left there we went to the Gene Autry Plaza on Ramon for a quick stop to take some pictures of the statue out front and to see the new building.  There wasn't much to see in regard to the building because it was brand spanking new and didn't even have tenants yet.
After the Plaza we made a planned stop at Wal-Mart to pick up a few things for the next couple of days.  We also had to pick up some holding tank chemical which was considerably cheaper than buying it at our nearby RV supply store.
By noon we mosied on down to our next planned stop which was The Olive Garden, for lunch.  We love their Soup and Salad and of course the Breadsticks.  We also wanted to stop at Trader Joe's today but after we were done eating we decided that we could do it another day.  Who wanted to traipse around a store with a full stomach?
It was close to one o'clock by this time and we just wanted to get our groceries home anyway.  We only had frozen waffles that were perishable and if they thawed out it wouldn't matter.  We would just re-freeze them again.
We had just enough time to put away the groceries, and sit down for awhile, before pool time came around.  We knew when we got there that Dot and Jerry Pittsley were on they're last day in the pool.  They would be heading home starting tomorrow morning.  We've had a good time with them all this winter except for the time we were both out of the park.  The pool is getting short and shorter on acquaintances for this season.  In another 8 days we'll take our turn exiting for the year.
Before we left I announced that I had to go home and watch "24" tonight..  Dot exclaimed it's once of the most tension filled shows she's ever seen on TV.  I couldn't disagree.  I can't wait to see it every week.
Along with "24" we had a few favorites to watch tonight which easily took us up to the bewitching hour.  Surprisingly none of the shows we watched were re-runs.  Will wonders ever cease?

We were up and had our Breakfast this morning and lit out looking for a new site in the park.  We've got a clown next to us whose feeding the birds and they're managing to crap all over our car and motorhome.  The park is becoming relatively empty so it shouldn't take long to find a site and then move and settle on to it.  We found a site that we had been on previously this year, near the pool, and no bird-feeders.  It took us about and hour to get everything moved and set up again.
By lunchtime we had decided to go into town and have a burger but it was a toss-up between McD's and In-N-Out Burgers.  We also needed to stop at a grocery store so McD's finally got the nod today.
After lunch we stopped at the grocery store and picked up a Deli Chicken that was fully cooked for Supper.  I think Sharon's cold got the best of her and she decided to take it easy for a change tonight.  Which is not a problem since both of us like the Deli chickens.
We headed out for the pool at our usual time and we now realize that our time for bobbing in the pool is pretty much limited.  In a week we'll be headed north to Lake Havasu City and we'll be on our way home.  It'll pretty much be the end of the winter for us this year.  But as long as were still here we'll enjoy ourselves every day.  There doesn't seem to be any less people in the pool these days, but there are certainly people we've never seen before.
After the pool we came home and played a game of Jeopardy with the TV and as usual we didn't win any money.  If we get back from the pool too late we've got it recording Jeopardy every night anyway.  That's one show that Sharon gets upset if she misses.  So it's quite easy to keep her happy.
We had the Deli chicken for supper tonight along with Fried Potatoes and Shoepeg Corn.  It was all quite good indeed.
After Supper we found ourselves faced with one of the lousiest Tv nights in the most recent past.  We have several movies in reserve however, so we're not out in a vast wasteland quite yet.  Just when I think we'll have nothing but re-runs we're rewarded with original programming.  Go figure.  We didn't have a problem making it to 10 again tonight.

We both got up feeling pretty good this morning and ready to meet the day.  It had been at least a couple of weeks since that had happened.  The sun was out, there was only a hint of a breeze and this seemed like it was going to be a good day indeed.
I spent a good portion of the morning writing stories for the Newsletter.  These last couple of months have been a little slow for something interesting to write about.  Next month we'll be back on the road and the stories will pop into my mind, once again.
Today was Taco Wednesday and we left for the VFW around noon and the place was still crowded even this late in the season.  We managed to find a place to sit among a bunch of Canadians.  They were quite talkative and we easily struck up a conversation, hey.  We sat with them for about a half hour before they got their food, ate, and then left.  Another couple came and sat with us who just wanted someone to talk to while they ate.  They were both quite personable and hailed from the Sacramento area of California.  We sat with them for another half hour before we finished eating and left.
By the time we got home it was starting to warm up outside and expected to be in the 80's today.  We forgot to turn on the air before we left so it was quite warm inside the motorhome.  We went inside and before both of us realized it we were both napping.  It probably had something to do with the beer that went over the dam.  Although we didn't drink very much today since we didn't have any of our regular drinkers with us to help us out.  We slept until 4 which took us right past pool time for the afternoon.  This was the first time this year we had missed our afternoon soak because of a nap.
We were home in time to watch Jeopardy "live" today.  And after that we settled in for our evening's entertainment for the night.  Most of it was taped so we could watch it when we wanted to.  It all comes on so early with the showing on the east networks that if we didn't tape it, we'd have to go to bed at 8 PM.  We're not quite that old yet.  But we sure don't last after 10 Pm very often.  I think we were both anxious to get to bed tonight to see if we'd have another good night.

We were up in plenty of time to go for our walks today but neither of us went.  Since we picked up "the cold" a couple of weeks ago we just haven't felt like exercising.
Sharon called Phil and Joyce this morning to see if our date to meet at Pak Inn (Chinese Rest.) today, was still on this morning.  They didn't seem too excited to go today and talked Sharon into going tomorrow.  I didn't care for that idea and told her I was going today anyway.  She called them back and told them of our plans.  I wouldn't have minded so much going tomorrow except that we had planned this lunch for the last week. And I was looking forward to it.  We were hoping they would show up but we really didn't know for sure.
As we drove up to the restaurant we saw their Scooter parked outside and were very glad to see them.  As we entered the place we could see that they had set the table for us and we were all ready to chow down.  The food was excellent, as usual, and we found out that they will head back to Martinez on Sunday, a day before they're due out of Thousand Trails.  When we left we said our good-byes, with kisses and hugs and left to come back home.  We'll keep in touch through e-mail over the next year.
We came back to Catalina and went to the pool even though it looked like there was noone there today.  It quickly filled up with friends.  We stayed til about 4 o'clock before we came home.  There wouldn't be any supper today since we were still full from lunch.  We'll just fend for ourselves later on tonight.
Right after our non-supper, and before she could settle in for TV, Sharon took off with the laundry.  She checked out the laundry and it was empty so she figured to catch up on it tonight.  There was really nothing on she cared about anyway.  She was back in a couple of hours and watched the Telly for the rest of the night.
The wind was making another appearance tonight and I wonder if it's an all-night thing.  It didn't affect the Satellite very much tonight but later on it made a heck of a racket while we slept.  Actually it made a heck of a racket and we didn't sleep very well.

Friday, March 26, 2010

We were both up early after having a lousy night.  The wind was at least as bad as it's been all winter.  By this morning it had died down again but it had already ruined a good night's sleep.
While I was finishing up the Newsletter today, Sharon had planned to go into town and pick up Easter cards for the kids and my Mother.  She was also planning to stop at Stater Bros. And pick up a couple of Rib Eye Steaks for Supper tonight.  She also had to pick up a few other things besides the steaks.  On the way home she stopped at McD's and picked up some "coupon Big Macs" for lunch along with her Hot Fudge Sundae and my Apple Pies.  It was quite good indeed.
She got back after noon and by the time we finished eating lunch it was almost time for the pool.  It was really empty today in the pool but after a while it started to look like it would fill up with familiar people, but it really didn't.  We did have several friends in the pool but most everybody is either gone home or getting ready to leave.  It's starting to get "lonely" around here.
By the time we left the pool today it was almost empty except for a few people.  The water is still very warm, and at this point, too warm.  We're just marching in place until we leave next week.  We still haven't decided exactly when we'll depart but it'll be next week.  Sharon's debating whether or not to stay here til after Easter.  I really don't care one way or the other.
When we got home we fired up the grill for the steaks and I cooked them to perfection.  Even though mine was a little too "medium" it was still very tasty.  Sharon had a Baked Potato and I had Fried Potatoes and Shoepeg Corn, and Garlic Bread.  It was all very good even though it wasn't one of my favorites.
We touched base with the Michigan State/Northern Iowa Basketball game tonight and caught the final couple of minutes and watched State pull out a victory.  We didn't have much to watch tonight but did still manage to find enough to keep us busy until 10.  Our regular shows usually come on CBS and that's all tied up with Basketball.
After last night's wind we'll appreciate going to bed tonight and trying to catch up on lost sleep.  So we folded up the tent put away the animals, and headed for the darkness for the night.

Saturday, March 27, 2010

It was another beautiful day today.  I had planned early to change the oil on the motorhome and I got to it right after Breakfast.  Doing maintenance work on your vehicle is not allowed here but I have no other place where I can take it and change the oil unless I want to pay about a hundred dollars for the privilege.  I've been doing it here, or at Quartzsite for 10 years, and I'll continue as long as possible.
I also needed to dump our black water tank today and I did that while the oil was draining out of the crankcase.  I had to have Sharon help me since the sewer connection is broken on this site.  And it's been broken since we were on this site in December when we first arrived.  But we got everything taken care of by noon before we sat down to lunch.
We had our leftover Deli Chicken made up in sandwiches for lunch today.  A few Sour Cream and Onion chips and we had a meal.  We finished up the whole thing with Shortbread cookies with Chocolate Chips.  Man, life is good.
We headed out for the pool early today.  All the friendly faces were in attendance  The water was about 3-4 degrees cooler today and it felt very good.  They reported that they had a broken pipe today, but by the time we left this afternoon the pool was already being filled up with hot water.  Over about 15 minutes you could actually feel the difference in the temperature.  So I guess it's going to be back to it's too warm condition by tomorrow.
We made it home in time for Jeopardy tonight so the first half hour of our night was taken care of.  We had another hour of Cops taped and watched that til it was over.  We had several movies taped and we selected one at 8 o'clock called "legally Blond."  It was a chick flick with Reese Witherspoon and Luke Wilson.  It actually wasn't a bad movie and it did take up the next two hours very nicely.
Our timing was impeccable, and when it ended at 10, so did we.  The lights went out and the night fell..............crash.

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Sharon took off for church this morning while I was typing my Journal.  I hadn't planned on the Big Breakfast since she was intending to stop at K-Mart on the way home to pick up a few things for next week.
I picked up another headache while she was gone so I slinked into my recliner and took a nap while she was gone.  I woke up just before she got back around noon.  I didn't feel much like eating lunch so I just watched her while she ate.
I had a couple of cookies before we went to the pool today.  The water in the pool was warmed up to its usual overheated condition again today.  Yesterday they had a broken pipe and the temp was just about right with the cooler water.  There were about the same number of people in the pool today even though we're getting closer to the end of the season.
We had watched the end of the Michigan State game today and saw them pull out another squeaker.
At about 4, or just after, we headed for home.  Sharon had planned to have the leftover steak from the other night. But with a twist.  She cut it up and we put it together with Crab Meat and Hollandaise sauce.  We also had Potatoes, hers baked, mine fried, and a mixture of peas and carrots in melted butter.  I also had a couple of pieces of Garlic Bread and we washed it all down with a couple of cocktails of Whiskey and 7-up.  It was all quite good.
We settled in front of the TV for our usual entertainment for the night.  There wasn't much on tonight so we were surfing for most of the night.  CBS's shows were running out of kilter because of the Basketball games and there wasn't much else on tonight.  We debated watching another movie but opted out of that, just trying to find something to entertain us.
By the time 10 rolled around we didn't care what was on anymore.  Sharon left and jumped into bed and it was dark when I got in there.  Sometimes she leaves her light on so I can see to get into bed, but not tonight.  Oh well, I know the way by heart anyway.
