After getting up this morning neither of us felt like doing much today. We could have gone downtown to collect our mail but Sharon decided that today was not the day she wanted to wait in line for a half hour to get it. I really wasn't with it today either.
It looked like it was nice outside as far as the weather was concerned but when Sharon got back from her walk she announced that it was windy and nasty out.
We had Cheese and Broccoli Soup and Toasted Cheese Sandwiches for lunch today. They were both very good.
The afternoon was spent reading brochures about the Yuma area. We have been to many of the attractions here but there are still many more that we haven't been to. We have to decide which ones will merit out time while we're here. TV and brochures finished out our afternoon. They're supposed to have Wi-Fi here also but I can't get hooked on so far. I'll try tomorrow morning early to see if I can get it up and running.
"24" was on tonight on the Telly and I didn't have anything important enough to interrupt that. I got through it tonight for another week and I was on the "edge" of my recliner for an hour tonight. Sharon headed off to bed at 10 but there was still TV on tonight, so I stayed up for a while.
I finally gave up the ghost at about 11:15 tonight. It's the latest I've stayed up for months. I wonder If I'll sleep late tomorrow. Yeah right!

We had a full day planned for ourselves today. Our first order of business was Breakfast at JB's. We usually manage to have a Breakfast there while we're here. Although now it's getting a bit pricey since they have no senior discount here in Yuma. I had the buffet and Sharon decided on the stuffed French Toast. We both had what we wanted.
After Breakfast, we went to the Post Office across the street. We had to pick up our mail for the week and I sat in the car and Sharon went in to wait in line. She waits in line much better than I do. About a half hour later we were ready to continue on with our day.
I dropped Sharon off at Joann's Fabric and I continued on to Harbor Freight to see if I could find a portable compressor for inflating the tires on the motorhome. I managed to find the compressor but it wasn't quite what I wanted. The configuration that I was looking for was just a small electric compressor. The one I picked up had a 2 gallon tank on it. They probably don't even make the configuration that I'm looking for anymore.
Staples was next door to Harbor Freight and I needed some clear plastic pages for Business Cards and I managed to pick them up there.
By this time it was time for me to go back and pick up Sharon. And as luck would have it, she came out of the store a couple of minutes after I arrived. We headed for home after having all our business taken care of.
We were still fine from Breakfast so we didn't have to have lunch.
When we got home Sharon checked the mail she had just picked up and we got a Christmas Card from George and Laura Bush. We sent them a card last year and this year and we finally got one from them. We were excited. I'll write about it in the Newsletter.
By this afternoon we were supposed to meet with Clay and Jerie Nye to go out for Dinner tonight. We went to their park about 3:30 and had a couple of drinks before we left for the Elks Club and their Fried Chicken Dinner. Clay and Jerie were planning on meeting a bunch of friends at the club to have dinner with. There must have been about a dozen of us by the time everybody got there. We sat around and talked for about an hour or so before they found enough room to fit us in the dining room. The food was excellent and we had a very good time at the club.
Clay and Jerie were invited to a friends Birthday Party after Dinner and we went with them. We felt very welcome there and had another good time at the party. We had cake and Ice Cream and didn't get done til around 9.
By the time we came home we had had a very long day. I managed to watch a couple of programs on TV before I headed for the feathers. Sharon went to bed as soon as she got home. What a wuss.

We got a slow start this morning but Sharon had a plan. She was thinking about going to the movies this afternoon. It was Wednesday and she noticed that it was "free popcorn day."
We stayed home until lunchtime and then headed out toward a new restaurant called "Kneeders". When we drove up we noticed on the side of the building that it said "Bakery and Café" on the windows. We were really not looking for what seemed like a snack shop for lunch. We left and looked around for some place to have lunch and settled on In-N-Out Burger.
After our lunch we headed toward the theater to see Gran Tourino with Clint Eastwood. As we approached the theater we could see the line outside waiting to get in. Than we remembered that this was "free popcorn" day and the seniors were lined up. We managed to get in with our popcorn just after the movie started. I hate it when that happens. If I'd had a choice I would have turned around and walked right out of the place. Sharon had about 25 minutes invested waiting in line so there was no turning back now. Besides, we were probably late to get in, waiting for the popcorn.
The movie was pretty good, but not one of Clint's regular action movies, even though, that was the way it was portrayed in the coming attractions on TV. The critics will probably vote it the best movie he's ever made.
We were on our way home after the movie to sit in front of the TV. I broke my recliner this afternoon so there'll be no reclining during the TV watching tonight. The shows on tonight were all repeats. I don't know what the reason was for the repeats tonight but there they were.
About 11 we closed the show, and when the applause died down, we ambled off to the "dark room" to finish our day.

Sharon was off on her walk this morning while I was typing my Journal. When she got back I was contemplating fixing my recliner that broke yesterday. Both of us actually got a slow start this morning and didn't get much done before lunch.
After we cleaned up a bunch of leftovers for lunch I sat down to fix the recliner. I had fixed it a couple of times before when the back on my chair either wouldn't recline or reclined at will. When I started it wouldn't recline, and by the time WE finished it was reclining at will. IT"S will.
I started out knowing what was wrong and got to it immediately. When Sharon detected that I was having trouble she gleefully joined in. It wasn't that she made any difference to the outcome, cause it would end up the same way no matter who was helping. We did take it apart and put it back together again several times before we realized that the cable that we were using, was probably not the right cable for the job.
We put the chair back together again hoping that it would work, but in the end, the chair will not sit upright at this time. The good news is that now the chair is in "TV watching" position all the time now. There is a Flexsteel Dealer in the Foothills so I'll try to get a new cable from them before we leave here. Then we'll spend another 4 hours putting the cable in the chair. I think Sharon found out that all my jobs are not fun. She got a few rug burns and some new aches and pains.
By the time we finished, Sharon decided we would be having a frozen pizza for supper cause she wasn't cooking. While I waited at home she left for the pizza a couple of miles from home. When she got back, after about an hour, I found out the trip that she took for the pizza. (She left here and stopped at the gas stations thinking they would have frozen pizza. No such luck. After that she headed for Yuma Palms which is a huge shopping center and even stopping at what she though was a Super Target. No such luck.. She ruled out burgers aqnd went past a couple of burger places. By the time she came home she was carrying a Fiesta Pack from Del Taco. She also failed to find any place that sold beer for the pizza. It didn't matter cause we weren't having pizza anyway.) I listened to this whole story before I could eat. And every place that I heard about was working her more into a frenzy about the whole thing.
We enjoyed the Tacos and burritos very much however. And shortly afterward we were done eating and sitting in front of the Idiot Box for the night. The networks were actually playing repeats, with few exceptions, tonight. It's always possible, however, to find something to watch that's not a repeat, or a repeat that we haven't seen before. So I just settled into my permanently reclining recliner and just waited to be entertained.
We hung in until 10 before we caved and headed for a nightly horizontal position.

We got a leisurely start this morning, but we did have a plan to go to the Yuma Marketplace, the biggest Flea Market in Yuma. We actually quit going to the Race Track Flea Market a couple of years ago when the Market Place starting getting bigger.
After we had a Muffin for Breakfast we headed over to do some shopping. I took the scooter with me to get around even though it didn't have a full charge in it. I had plugged it in this morning for a couple of hours but it was still charging when I took it off the charger.
We arrived at the Marketplace about 10 and got to it immediately. I figured out very quickly that the seat on my scooter was way too small. It felt like it was going up the old wazoo. I would have to take care of that problem.
We went through a couple of rows of vendors before we hit an eating place for lunch. It was only 11:30, but here we had a place to sit down. Later we'd be standing up to eat, so we settled here.
We ran into a couple of places called Wally's World that Phil told me about, but I wasn't impressed. That was probably the reason that I hadn't remembered it from last year. It had some tools, but the rest was Variety Store junk. There was also a place called the TOOL BARN that really didn't have much in the way of tools.
The place that I like is in the last row and is loaded with tools of all kinds but not much in the way of large power tools. Quartzsite is really better for that.
I was really spent by the time we got to the last row so I didn't spend much time in the tool place. We'll go back and I'll start there next time.
On the way home we stopped at Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries. I meandered over to the bike stuff and found myself a new seat for the scooter and a cable lock. In the meantime Sharon found a whole bunch of groceries that we needed.
When we got home, I put my new seat on the scooter. I also wanted to call the Flexsteel store and find out if they have a cable for my recliner. They had cables, but couldn't tell me if they had the right one for my recliner. I'll have to stop over there, and check the ones that they have.
Sharon whipped up some Shrimp Creole for supper tonight. We also had some Garlic Bread and optional wine. The wine was optional cause I didn't have it and she did. The Creole, however, was absolutely delicious. Shrimp Creole, is one of my favorites.
We were into more repeats for entertainment tonight. For some reason the repeats have lasted longer than usual this year, or at least it seems that way. Sharon put her time to good use by reading the Daily News from home. Me, I can't be bothered with that liberal rag.
We both lasted until almost 10 tonight. Actually Sharon caved early and I stayed up an hour longer. But we averaged about 10.

We didn't get such an early start this morning but I certainly had a plan. I wanted to go to the Foothills and pick up a cable for my recliner. The foothills is a place that is located east of Yuma about 5 miles. The furniture store located out that way sells Flexsteel furniture which is exclusive in our motorhome.
We got out there around noon and managed to pick up the cable without any trouble. I would have no idea if this is the right cable until I try it in the chair. I thought about stopping at Radio Shack and pick up some contact cleaner while we were here and managed to drive past the Dairy Queen on the way. Sharon had decided that she wanted to stop at Dairy Queen and have ice cream for lunch. Not being a big ice cream person, I chose the Popcorn Shrimp Basket instead. She had the Chocolate/Cherry Blizzard. Go figure.
When we got home, Sharon grabbed the Laundry and I got started on the chair. By the time she got finished with the clothes, I had the chair removed and was trying to thread the new cable into it. My hands were too big to get into the tight areas I soon found. She had come back after I tried unsuccessfully to get the cable in for 45 minutes. She managed the impossible in about 2 minutes. I hate it when that happens. It took about a half hour to hook it up and get it ready to put the chair back in place. Unfortunately, it was the wrong cable and the chair still doesn't work. The back on my chair stays permanently reclined. Actually it pops up when I'm not in it, and goes back when I am. It's actually in the perfect TV watching position when it goes down.
While I was getting my chair back together, Sharon was warming up the 4 burritos that were left over from Del Taco the other day. She cut up some lettuce, tomatoes and onions to put on top along with melted cheese and salsa. They actually tasted like regular restaurant burritos by the time she was done with them. Very good.
By the time I finished with the chair ,there wasn't much time left to watch TV, so I watched mostly while I worked on the chair. I did have a little time to relax and scan the programs for an hour or so before I hit the feathers at 10. We both had had a long day.

We decided that after Sharon went to church today we would go to the Cocopah Casino for Breakfast. They have a $5 Buffet Breakfast that's pretty good. We had never been there on a Sunday before but we were anxious to see if it's still good. We arrived about 10 and the line stretched almost to the exit. We actually stood there for a couple of minutes before I suggested we go to the Golden Corral back in Yuma instead. It took us about 20 minutes to get back but we were eating before we could have been, at the casino. We actually had a very nice breakfast at GC and got back home before noon, although we could have had the lunch that they were setting out, if we had wanted to.
I think the Super Bowl hype was starting early today, but we didn't care to watch it as early as it had started. We did tune in at 4 when he game was supposed to start. It didn't start until about 40 minutes later but we wanted to see the commercials. I think we saw every single commercial and we didn't think any of them were noteworthy.
Of course the farther into the game we watched, the more exciting it got. Arizona's fans have got to be disappointed after losing a heartbreaker. Pittsburgh was just too good at the end.
By the time the game is over there wasn't much left to watch on TV. But we both hung in there until 10 before we headed south. Actually the bedroom is now a trip north. We're debating going into Mexico tomorrow to get new eyeglasses & maybe some other stuff. We've heard that it takes about 2 hours to get back out now. That's enough to put a damper on a trip over to the other side.
