I got a leisurely start this morning even though I was up at 5:30.  By the time Sharon got up I was done with all my typing for the day.  Although she did hit the floor running this morning.  She wanted to check and see if the laundry was busy and to see if she could squeeze a couple of loads in real quick.  As it happens one of the two washing machines was not working so doing a couple of loads quickly was out of the question.
The water pump was groaning this morning which meant that I had to fill the water tank before showers were going to be possible for me this morning.  We usually hook directly up to the water faucet, but here the pressure is so high it makes our faucets leak.  So we just fill up the tank and run off that while we're here.  It's not a big deal and I don't make one out of it either.
While I was outside there was a dog, in a car, barking incessantly in the site across from us.  Every time somebody walked by, the dog started again.  When the owner came back I told him about the dog, and his answer was, "yeah, she's spoiled."  I guess he didn't realize how stupid that answer was.  I should have just gone over there and kicked his stupid ass.  Some people are so inconsiderate of others.
Henry and Arlene came over this afternoon and stayed for awhile.  It was an early cocktail hour today that lasted until suppertime.  Several beers flowed during the time they were here.  I can never keep up so I just didn't drink any.  Besides I needed a rest because the day after tomorrow we're going to the VFW for Tacos.  That's usually a day that I pour them down.
We had Taco Loaf tonight for Supper.  It's so good and we have it so rarely that when we do have it, it's such a treat.  I thought we'd gobble it right up but we only ate half a loaf.  No problem, the leftovers will still be good.
We squatted in front of the tube for the rest of the night.  Even Discovery was having a bad night tonight. And with the networks playing repeats until after Christmas, there was nothing earthshaking on tonight.  We folded up our tents at 9 and headed for the feathers.  There was nothing left to see or do.

We (with Henry and Arlene Leduc) were off and rolling early this morning on our way to the casino for Breakfast.  The Spa Casino in downtown Palm Springs still has the buffet for $5.99 and we intended to take advantage while it was still cheap.  Not quite as cheap as the people at a table behind us.  They were getting food and stuffing it in plastic bags while they ate.  The woman stuffed a huge omelette in for safekeeping.  I could just drag those people out of their booth by the nape of their neck.
We lost a few bucks in the machines before we left and drove further downtown.  I wanted to find the restaurant that's in the middle of the road that we went to with Jim and Jackie Palestini.  We found it on LaPlaza street.
After the discovery we turned and headed for home.  We'd have about a 10 minute drive to get back to the motorhome.
When we got back Sharon took off for the grocery store to pick up a few things for snacks for tomorrow night.  Henry and Arlene will be coming over for awhile to have a few drinks and some snacks.
I was busy typing motions for my court case back in Iron Mountain.  At this point it looks like we are going to lose.  The judge has rescinded my telephone appearances, and without those, I don't see how we can prevail.  But we'll see what happens.
I finally hooked up the Sewer hose this afternoon and dumped our gray water.  We didn't need a full dump yet but it'll happen in the next couple of days.
By suppertime we were starting to get hungry again so we had the leftover Taco Loaf and a couple of pieces of pizza from the day before.  We settled in for the TV for the night even though we couldn't a thing to watch.  The closer it gets to Christmas and New Years the more regular programs have repeats playing.  We're used to it by now and we just bide our time until we make the trek to the bedroom.

Wednesday, December 24, 2008CHRISTMAS EVE

We were ready for Tacos today as we left for the VFW right at noon so we could miss the 50/50 crowd.  We not only missed the 50/5 crowd but missed out on our tacos altogether.  They decided that they weren't serving any food today.  We were looking forward to tacos so we had to do something.  We headed toward the Dillon Roadhouse for burgers.  We knew it would be a bit pricey but we didn't expect the pitchers of beer to be $11 apiece.  Needless to say as soon as we finished our burgers, which were very good, we headed for the VFW to party.  We stayed there for about 4 pitchers of beer before we headed for home where we would continue to party at our house.
As soon as we got home Arlene picked up her snacks and the two of them came over to continue our festivities.  But because the party started so early today it didn't finish up too late tonight.  We sat around talking, drinking and listening to Christmas music while we ate snacks.  It was quite nice but as I said we didn't last very late.
By eight o'clock I was watching repeats on TV.  Sharon's night was over and she was headed to bed and her puzzle.  It had been a very nice day with friends, even though we were disappointed by the lack of tacos in our original plan.
At 10 I had enough and folded up my tent and tethered the camels for the night.  Nite, nite was upon me.

Thursday, December 25, 2008MERRY CHRISTMAS

We spent a quiet Christmas at home this year.  It seems were always "trying" to have something to do on Christmas but this year we didn't even try.
Sharon was off to church by herself this morning which I felt bad about.  This is the second year she had to do it.  I'm sure I'll be back on track next year to start going again with her.  She put the Cherry pie in the oven before she left and gave me orders to keep an eye on it.  I asked if she wanted me to do any thing else and she replied no.  When she got home she put the Rosemary Game Hens in the oven and from there on it started smelling holiday-ish in here.
We ate about 1 and the Hens and mixture of multi-colored peppers were delicious.  After we at we started making our obligatory holiday phone calls.  We had already talked to the kids last weekend, and we'll talk to them again this weekend, but that doesn't mean you don't call on Christmas.
For the rest of the day we just sat around and relaxed.  We even teetered on a couple of naps cause we didn't have to be anywhere today.  It was a nice feeling.
We were relegated to the repeats on TV for the night. We must be really getting old.  We can watch our favorite shows over again and still not know how they end.  We lasted until 10 tonight even though our eyelids were getting heavy around 9.  I found a movie on Bravo to watch until 10.  It was also a repeat.  Pretty soon my whole life will be a repeat.

I got a call from the District Court in Iron Mountain telling me that my "telephone appearances" have been re-instated.  I was hoping that they would be re-instated because without them our case was pretty much over.  At least this way we still have a fighting chance.
We left for the Post Office this morning about 11 to mail a winter hood to Stella that Sharon knitted over the past week or so.  It's made out of yarn dyed every single color you can imagine.  It's quite ugly, but cute at the same time.  At least it'll match any color jacket that Jess may buy for her.
We were also in town during the brunch hour so we drove up and down Palm Drive to see if there was something besides fast-food that might interest us.  After our trip, we decided that we would go to the Cottage Too which is a little restaurant on Pierson Boulevard that we've eaten at before.  They have good meals for a very reasonable price.  I had Fish and Chips and Sharon had a ½ sandwich and a cup of Soup.  Both were very good.
We came back home and we attempted to go for a walk.  I managed to get around half of our block before I had to come home.  I cut through the pool area and found the pool was still at 85 degrees.  I think he's deliberately keeping it under 90 for what reason I'll never know.
When we got back home Sharon opted for a nap and I watched TV.  She got up around 4, just in time to go to Henry and Arlene's for supper.  We had been invited over for a Steak Dinner tonight.  And it was a Steak Dinner with all the fixins'.  We had baked potatoes, carrots, cole slaw, garlic bread and for dessert we had what looked like a cupcake with a dollup of cream on top.  It tasted more like a brownie, however, with cream cheese.  It was quite tasty.
About 9 Sharon decided it was time for us to go home.  I watched a little TV before going to bed and Sharon just headed for the feathers.  We had it for the night.

Saturday, December 27, 2008

We took off about 9 this morning headed for what I thought was Palm Desert.  We planned to go to a couple of open air markets shopping today.  But by the time we got there, we were almost in Palm Springs. There was a little miscommunication on where they were.  No matter, we managed to get there just fine.
The markets were quite small and it seemed like their purpose was to bring fresh vegetables to town.  There was a couple of places selling sauces and dressings but for the most part it was a collection of farms selling their wares.
On the way home we stopped at In-N-Out Burger to have lunch.  That place is absolutely crazy at lunchtime and beyond.  By the time we left it was still filling up with people wanting to have lunch.  Absolutely nuts!!
When we got home we went to the pool expecting it to be a little cool.  It wasn't.  The temp of the water was very nice.  We probably stayed in the water for at least a couple of hours.  After that I took a loooong soak in the hot tub with these weary bones.  I felt it actually did me some good.  I probably should have been in the hot tub all along.  Good ole 20/20 hindsight.
By 3 P.M. we were out of the pool and back home.  Sharon decided that since she had time today she would go to church tonight and not have to go tomorrow.  So when she took off I uncovered the sink and was amazed by the number of dishes we actually hid under there.  I got started on them and actually finished up before she got back.
Neither of us was hungry for supper so we just fended for ourselves tonight.  I opted for PB&J and Sharon just snacked her way through supper.  We both finished off the Cherry Pie we had on Christmas and it was still delicious.  It held up very nicely for the last couple of days, and it was one of the best Cherry Pies I've ever eaten.
We were in front of the TV for our usual entertainment for the night tonight.  We were burdened by the usual repeats we've had on for weeks now.  We won't see new shows until after New Years.  We did hang in there until 10 however, before we loaded up the buses and headed for camp.  It didn't take long once we decided.

Sunday, December 28, 2008

We started the day with one of my favorite activities.  A Big Breakfast.  Sharon was reluctant to mention her plan but I was in full participatory mode. We cooked up some Eggs, Bacon, Hash Browns and Toast and by the time we finished we had cancelled lunch for the day.  Our Breakfast was very good and gave us a good start for the day.
We made our customary phone calls to family and friends today since we were "busy" yesterday.  Henry stopped over about noon and asked if we were going to the pool today.  We would go even though Sharon had checked the temp of the water and it was a little cooler today.
When we finally got in the pool the temp really wasn't that bad but we didn't spend much time in the water anyway.  I really wanted to go over for the healing effects of the hot tub.  It makes me feel better all over when I get out of there.  I was really hoping that this would happen this year.  I need all the help I can get.  I managed to get myself into an extended discussion while I was there about a location in Cathedral City.
By the time I got home after the hot tub ecstasy I was missing happy hour with Henry and Arlene.  I did get home before it was over, however.  It's hard to miss a happy hour with Sharon, Henry and Arlene.  It usually goes on for hours just as this one did.
Sharon had picked up an Eggplant yesterday at the Marketplace and she whipped up a small batch of Eggplant Parmesan with a filet of ½ a breast of chicken.  It was very good
We settled in front of the TV for part another night.  The happy hour lasted well into suppertime so it was already about 8 before we got our "Dinner and Dishes" finished for the night.  A couple hours of "Tube" capped off the night.
