Today was quite the surprise when we got up.  Sharon was down in bed with the cold and I'd have to pick up the slack today.  I took a shower and got myself dressed and then set out on my chores for the day.
First I had to stop at the office for mail which wasn't there yet, and then I stopped at the dumpster and tossed out our garbage bags that we had accumulated.  It was a little difficult opening and holding the dumpster lid and two crutches, but I managed.  I took off for town to the Rite Aid Pharmacy to get another load a pharmaceuticals for the new sickee.  I had exhausted the supply last week.
I finished my shopping and I was supposed to stop at McDonald's for burgers on the way home.  I just went thru the drive-up and took the back way up Hacienda to Mountain View on the way home.  It only took a few minutes to get there and we were eating lunch.  It wasn't much of a lunch but it was what I could provide.  Sharon didn't seem to mind too much.
After lunch Sharon went back to bed and I went back to the office for our mail.  I knew it would be there because I saw the mail truck at the office, on my way home.  I hobbled back into the office and picked it up.
I sat around the motorhome hoping to hear from my ISP at home to set up my e-mail but I got some bum information when they finally did call me.  It still isn't working.
I sat around for the rest of the afternoon trying to be quiet so I didn't disturb my honey.
By suppertime she was up again but not feeling much better.  We just threw together whatever we wanted to eat and that was that.  I had leftover KFC and she had Chicken Noodle Soup.
We watched TV until 10, and then I, went into bed and watched TV until 11, before going to sleep.  I hope she's feeling somewhat better by tomorrow.

Sharon woke up this morning still not feeling too chipper.  We had, however, planned to try out the Cottage Too, a restaurant in Desert Hot Springs, if she felt better.  Apparently she was feeling good enough so she wouldn't have to cook Breakfast this morning.
We left for town about 9 and when we got to the restaurant it wasn't too crowded.  With what we ordered, and the quality of the food, we didn't know why not.  I got Scrambled Eggs with chunks of Ham, Cottage Fried Potatoes, Biscuits and Gravy and a side order of Toast.  Sharon ordered Scrambled Eggs with Ham, Cottaqe Fries and Country Gravy poured over the Fries and Toast, and we both had coffee.  We left the place stuffed and the price tag came to $12.60.  We'll be seeing that place again I'm sure.
We stopped at the grocery store before we came back home, and when we got here Sharon opted for a nap, while I caught a few things on the radio listening to Rush.
By afternoon we took a walk over to the Lower Pool and had an Ice Cream cone.  We didn't see anyone in the pool that we knew so when we finished our cone we came back home.
Sharon made a Meatloaf with Fried Potatoes and corn for supper tonight.  I told her to forget about it, but she labored on to get it on the table.  It was very good and I had a donut for dessert that we had picked up at the grocery today.
We had a couple of new shows on TV tonight but Sharon read her book all night while I watched the TV.  I switched back and forth to the Michigan Primary to see what was happening there.  I was pleased to see that John McCain lost the primary.
I was in bed by 10 but I watched TV until 11.  I also woke up at 1:30 with pains in my left foot.  It bothered me for about an hour and a half before I took sleeping pills and Vicadin and then went back to sleep.

I had called Phil and Joyce last night to see if they would be here for Taco Wednesday today.  They're staying an extra day at Yuma so we'll have to  take it in by ourselves.  That won't be much of a hardship though we've done it before.  We'll be gone to Casa Grande next week on Wednesday.
We ran into the Browns and Parents when we got to the VFW and we managed to find a table with 6 spots open.  So we sat with them for lunch.  Sharon and I were still sitting there drinking beer by the time they left.  It took us a long time today to kill off two pitchers. Sharon was still recovering from her cold so she took a nap when we got home.  It's taken her a while this time to get over this thing.  We don't get colds very often but this one got hold of both of us.
I watched TV and waited for up.net to call me to straighten out our e-mail but it appears I wasted another afternoon waiting for them.  They must be quite busy trying to get people squared around with this new e-mail system.  They bragged about how wonderful it would be, and now I can't get through to tech support.
Neither of us was hungry for supper so we just fended for ourselves.  I really didn't have much of an appetite for anything but I did have a sandwich later on.  Therest of the night we just sat in front of the TV having nothing worthwhile on.  The writers in Hollywood sure called this strike at the right time.  You can't watch a decent thing anywhere on TV.

We were up this morning with the expectation that Paul from Best Awning would be here at 9 to change out our two awnings.  About 10 he called and said he was stuck in traffic over near Banning but would be here as soon as he could.  He rolled in about 10:30 while Sharon was gone to do laundry.  He got right to work cracking jokes and having a good time.  He seems to really enjoy his work and he does it very efficiently.  By 1 he was done with both awnings and he managed to pick up a couple of jobs while he was here.
Sharon and I had lunch right after he left, and by this time she was finished with the laundry.  I, on the other hand had watched the guy change the two awnings.  I have another awning that's a little shaky, and now if it needs changing, I know how to do it.
The wind had picked up today and was actually cool in the shade.  I had sweats on while I was watching the awning guy and I was a little cold.  I made sure I was sitting in the sun but the temp wasn't much better.
We just sat around for most of the afternoon with the intention that at supper we were going to the Upper Clubhouse and get a burrito and a piece of pie.  We had been wanting to try the burrito for a couple of years, but it's a day after Taco Wednesday at the VFW, and we really enjoy that.  The Burrito was very good but they wouldn't give Sharon Salsa to top it off.  You could have Sour Cream but no Salsa.  I wanted Salsa.  Go figure.
We got back home with a full stomach and well satisfied with ourselves.  We watched TV for the night until 10 before we folded our tents and drifted off to Dreamland.  It had been a long day for both of us.  One of us (Sharon) more than the other.

We had absolutely nothing planned for today so Sharon decided that she would take a walk down to the corner at Dillon Street.  She was back in about a half hour and she got right to making Breakfast.  She had planned to have Egg, Sausage and Cheese Biscuits this morning to use up the biscuits she had made the other day.  The Biscuits turned out very good.
The rest of the morning was spent watching TV.  That's pretty much our entertainment for most of the time.  Sharon took out a project and started stitching for most of the day.  She always has something to keep her busy.  She's been reading for the past few weeks and that's been taking care of our missing out on the pool.  Actually it's been so chilly with very few exceptions, that I for one haven't missed the pool at all.
It was quite chilly today and not a nice day to got the pool anyway.  And because I can't go in the Hot Tub anyway, I'm not really interested in freezing when I come out of the pool.  I'm getting to be big wus in my old age.
Sharon made Rigatoni and Meatballs, Salad, and Garlic Bread for supper tonight.  We also had a little vino to chase it all down.  It was indeed wonderful.
TV tonight was a bust and we had to watch a few shows that we never watch because of a lack of interest.  But we needed something to make it through the night and at times like this you'll pretty much settle for anything.
We went to bed at 10 and Sharon decided that she would try to sleep with me tonight.  It would almost be the first time in 7 weeks.  The other time she tried was when I had a terrible nightmare about her , and I was afraid for her safety.  But she couldn't stand to be in bed with me after a couple of hours, and went to the couch.

Saturday, January 19, 2008

Sharon went to the couch last night again after a couple of hours but I didn't even know she left.  Maybe I'm not ready yet.
We got up this morning and took our showers and got ready to go to the Agua Caliente Casino for the Buffet Breakfast.  It's an exceptional meal and it's only $7.99 apiece.  It was very good again this morning and we went with Phil and Joyce Bach.  Sharon was planning on going to the College of the Desert Flea Market today with Joyce, but Phil decided he was going to go also.  By the time they tried to work out their plans, Sharon made up her mind she would go by herself.
We got back home and had 2 messages on our phone.  The first was from my sister Marge and the second from Mike Mindok, our son-in-law announcing the Birth of Stella Marie Mindok at 11:12 this morning.  She came in at 6lbs. 12oz. and 17 inches.
All we can say is Happy Birthday Stella Marie!!!!!!  Grandma and Grandpa were happy that Jess had a good labor.  We'll see Mom and Pop and little Stella next Thursday after we fly home to Iron Mountain.
We had leftover Rigatoni for supper tonight.  Rigatoni is one of my favorite pastas, and tonights supper was very good indeed.  We had no vino for the wash-down tonight but Coke and Root Beer works almost as good.  Beside the pasta was the important ingredient anyway.
We spent the rest of the night searching for something to watch on TV.  Tonight was absolutely the worst night ever for programs.  There was nothing to watch.  Sharon stitched all night until 10 and I checked our e-mail for pictures of you-know-who?

Sunday, January 20, 2008

Sharon was off tod church this morning as soon as she got up and I was left to "fend for myself," although she did leave out all the fixin's for Egg, Sausage and Cheese Biscuits.  Actually I was capable of taking care of my own Breakfast, and I did.
By the time she got home she had stopped at the grocery store and picked up donuts for the next couple of days.  Even when she wasn't really trying she took, care of me anyway.
We would be just biding our time for most of the day today just waiting for the Packer game at 3PM this afternoon.  We caught the Patriot/Charger game early and the Patriots won as expected.  After the game we got a call from Bill and Carole Lawson who are down in Florida suggesting that we could have another Patriot/Packer match up like we had several years ago.  They're from New Hampshire, formerly from the Boston area, and Patriot fans.  Green Bay won last time.
So the game we waited for was finally played today and it was a total bust.  The same team that lost to the Cowboys showed up again today and they lost on their home turf.  The player that got them there, was the player that took them out.  Favre threw a horrendous pass that was intercepted in Overtime, which was followed by a Field Goal, from a kicker who had missed two shorter Field Goals already.  The only redeeming thing about the weekend was the new Granddaughter that graced our lives on Saturday.
The repeats of the shows on TV tonight did not heal the wounds from the lousy game.  We talked about the letdown all night.
